It was quiet, to quiet for this time of night. None of the usual sounds could be heard, save for the wind that was blowing through the trees followed by the occasional distant thunder. Thick, black stormclouds began to gather on the horizon, completely blocking out the stars and eventually even the moonlight was dimmed. Even the air seemed to hold a feel of tension, as if everything was waiting in anticipation for the coming storm.
With another crash of thunder and a bright flash of lightening, a thick curtain of rain began to fall from the cloudy sky. Millions of ripples formed on the lake surface from each droplet of rain, while others fell from where they had landed on the leaves of trees before finally reaching the water of the lake. Next to the once still waters lay what appeared to be some kind of large animal, but a closer look would prove that it was not just some animal that had happened to come to the lake during this wild storm.
Lying there completely unmoving was a young woman. She was small and petite with milky white skin that made her incredible long black hair seem that much darker. Her eyes were closed making it impossible to tell what color they were, and just from a glance it was clear that she was not only completely unclothed but also hurt as well. Her body was covered with dark bruises, and on her shoulder and stomach were two deep stab wounds that were allowing her blood to slowly flow towards the ground. From the looks of things she had been left there by her attacker, who had apparently hoped that she would just die there leaving no evidence of their actions. However, though it was just barely, she was still alive and there was no telling who or what may come this way before the night ended. Although with the storm still raging as it was there was no guarantee anyone would find the injured woman before daybreak, and by then she may already be long dead.
