Darkness was falling quickly. Moon and sun were switching places in the sky. The guards were switching places in front of the stone tower. It didn't look like a prison, with the creamy off white bricks, light wooden lattices, and climbing roses and bright green ivies winding their way over bricks. Inside too, it wasn't quite a prison. It was brightly lit and dry though the swamp lands outside would like to prove differently. It was white washed and though it couldn't have been comfortable it was sweetly simple. The food too was perfectly fine although the girl inside wouldn't even think about eating it.
The aforementioned girl looked around 16 in body, but looking at her face showed a different story. Her cheeks looked hallow, and with the shadows under her eyes they produced a ghastly effect. Her pointing chin was resting wanly on her fragile looking hands and tendrils of her almost white blonde hair curled around her ears falling to rest on the window sill. More of the enchanting hair fell down to her waist in the same waving manner. She looked down, watching the guards switch. Sun and moon were close now. It was time for him to come.
He came swaggering down the stone path, careful to keep his shoes dry. He stopped and talked to the leaving guard for a few moments, walked a few more paces and talked to the new guard. They looked up a few times while gesturing towards the tower. The girl's face paled, the last traces of pink washed out, probably forever. Her heart was beating faster now almost visibly shaking her fragile body. Now the man opened the wooden door and started climbing the long circles of stairs. He clomped his way up and the girl tightened her silk robe even closer to her skin as if for some extra warmth and protection.
"Knock, knock." A sandpapery voice blurted out before pushing open the door. He wore black boots, with black pants tucked in. His leather jacket was without insignia over another black shirt. His hair was shaved maybe half an inch long making his squared chin look more sinister than just the outfit would have done. Black eyes stared out of his olive toned face.
"Hello Aurelia," he said twisting his head around cracking his neck. He leaned against the door watch Aurelia stare out the window. "I wouldn't do that. There is a guard waiting ready to blow your brains out." He stated carelessly. "Well... Won't you offer me a seat?"
"Yes sir, take a seat sir." Aurelia said, now staring at a place above his head. Her hands curled up into fists, there was no strength to them though. Just fragile skin a bone.
"Oh, now that sounds so unbelievably formal. Call me Ari." He grinned filthily at her. "Now that formalities are over," he walked closer to her and reached into his jacket. Aurelia's eyes widened.
"Yes, it's a pistol. Now tell me!" He started calmly ending up yelling.
She hesitated and then, "no."
"What?" He asked calmly.
"No." She said once more.
"Yes." He replied.
"No!" She yelled, amazed.
Bang! the pistol went off. A silver bullet whizzed through the air landing shatteringly in Aurelia shoulder. She froze for a second unsure, then the pain hit her. A scream, wailing and painful shot out of her mouth. Ari stood, laughing as Aurelia clutched her right shoulder. Scream after scream came from her mouth, blood seeping through her fingers.
