The year is 2057. America, for those who live outside, seems like nothing has changed. But those who live there know better.

In the year 2057, America has changed.
The current President is more like a dictator.
And the American citizens have no privacy.

There is a video camera on every street. In every house. In every room. Everyone's job is decided at birth, along with who they will marry, and how many children they will have. They work 12 hours a day, every day, and do not go to school, instead being taught their job and only their job. So much of a mutter about treason or unhappiness with the government could get you killed. Everyone is rationed food, due to the rising population, because people are not allowed to leave the US.

In a country where people are everything but free, one group stands up against the government, called the Rebellion. They have connections, ways to take out cameras, and ways to meet without being caught. This group is now rising up across America. Nearly every city has a Rebellion group. And a Rebellion leader for each state.

But what happens when the founders, [insert number of people playing here] people who lead the Rebellion, get careless, and get captured? They are all tied up and gagged and blindfolded, thrown into a dark room to wait. Two days later, each of the leaders is interrogated, and given the choice to live and betray the Rebellion, or else. Each of the leaders chooses "or else". But, when they choose this, they don't come back to the room where the others wait. They are each thrown into a separate room. And the only people who know what goes on in those rooms, are the occupants. Cue the shudders.

The last leader, scared out of his/her wits, finally breaks and reveals the secrets of the Rebellion. He/she is set free, if you can call their way of life free. The rest were kept in the rooms for months, until finally being set free, and only then because they had connections. The Rebellion was broken up, and America went back to its life of misery, hopes crushed.

By a single Traitor.

It's been three years since then, and the old leaders of the Rebellion see signs of it rising again. Everything is there. Mysterious dissapearances from work. Absence from home. The leaders either choose to join the new Rebellion or stay in their miserable lives. But what if another Traitor rises? Better yet, no one knows who the traitor is. What if the traitor joins the New Rebellion?

All this is up to you.

Bio: Zee's father was actually the founder of the old Rebellion. But once founded, her left it to his daughter to run it. So Zee was left to organize and recruit for the Rebellion. She was twelve when it actually started, and therefore scorned by other members. But her leadership skills soon compensated for lack of experience.

The Rebellion continued for two years, due to Zee's father's special connnections. By then, every Rebellion leader's house had been de-bugged and made safe. But after those two years, she was captured along with the rest of the leaders and chose the "or else".

She and the others got out, thanks to her father, who had to work in secret for months to free them. Now, three years later, the Rebellion fell. But Zee's spirit wasn't broken, and against her father's orders Zee restarted the Rebellion, and is currently the leader of it.

Appearance: Mattox stands about 5'10 with a pale olive-type complexion. He has dark brown eyes and black close-shaven hair. Mattox is average built (not athletically muscular and thin but closer on that side of the fence). The bones in his face are very prominent, giving him a strong-jawed look about him.

Job: Cardiothoracic Surgeon (At the George Washington University Hospital [near the White House])

Personality: Mattox is very outspoken with his ideals on life and how the US should be, which causes him trouble when around his family, which is made up of individuals who are all very pro about the current society. He does however know when it is appropriate to make any comment regarding this particular topic along with the topic of his given job, which he believes is another mistake in his life. He believes that a cardiothoracic surgeon is for somebody with no personality whatsoever and no chance at happiness whereas he is, or tries to be, jovial 90% of the time; he's also continuously positive and tries his best (on good days) to lighten bad situations for everyone, however inappropriate he may be (not meaning that he is up in everyone's face). He is pretty laid back. Mattox is also slow in his thoughts; he needs time to figure out what to say (if he cares about the outcome), otherwise he comes off as a complete, uneducated idiot.

Bio: Mattox's mother grew up in the US and his grandmother had moved from South Korea to the US in her early twenties. His father is of Irish descent, also living in the US for his childhood years and forward. Everyone in his family is all for the 'new' US except for, obviously, Mattox himself. His entire life has been dedicated to the 'art' of cardiothoracic surgery, a career that he would much rather do without, not just because of the fact that it bores him endlessly but also the fact that he is a little squeamish around blood and the human's interior decor. This, upon others, is the reason he has decided to join the Rebellion.

Job: Was part of the police force but they decided that, like his rebelious father, he couldn't be trusted with that job anymore and he was replaced by the government to fix power lines that run through the city, running all electricity.
Personality: He's too sarcastic for his own good and doesn't know when to quit. he hates authority figures and has some trouble obeying direct orders because of it. Doesn't like to be told what to do and needs a firmer hand to make him listen when he is angry or annoyed. Has been told he had a temper issue but he is actually quite easy going when he is around friends. He is headstrong and will toss himself off a building to save his friends. Hates to lose more than anything in the world.
Bio: His mother is one of the leader to the government and single father was one of the leaders to the old rebellion, of course they got divorced quickly and his mother left Tanner to his father. Tanner was constantly being left alone at home while his dad was...out. He was proud of his father's job though and him and his father had a steadfast bond like no other father and son. When the Rebellion was captured, his father fought and unlike many others, he did not make it out alive. Tanner became an orphan and he either hangs around on the streets or stays with friends when he is not in his work which he tends to skip anyways. his mother is still a part of the government and is a dangerous threat. She cares nothing for Tanner and sees him as an enemy just for being brought up by her husband.((I may make a skeleton for his mother if i'm allowed two characters^^))

Abilities or Attributes: Randall has what some would call a "silver tongue". Skilled in lies, deception and subterfuge, he is someone that you would be foolish to put your complete trust into. Since an early age, Randall had a talent for knife throwing, an ability that he now uses with deadly accuracy.

Job: Originally employed as a teacher, the U.S. government quickly took note of Randall's abilities to plant false ideas (i.e. government-written school materials) into the minds of his students. They contacted and drafted him into a special forces unit tasked with gathering various pieces of information about the New Rebellion, despite his former membership in the previous Rebellion. To maintain appearances, he still retains his teaching job at Harvard University (now one of the "training grounds" for government-assigned professions) as a professor of U.S. Government & Politics.

Personality: Suave, convincing and almost snake-like, Randall rarely shows his true colors to anyone he deals with. It is, after all, part of his job to lie. However, deep down inside he is a lonely and scarred man without any true friends or family that he can trust. Although he somewhat enjoys what he does, in his heart he would like nothing more than to escape the web of lies that he has created and find a family that he can truly call his own.

Bio: Randall was born to an affluent family, both his mother and father having close ties to the U.S. government. During the years of the Rebellion, his father, Cary Smith, was responsible for capturing and interrogating several members of the group, making him rather unpopular with its members. Randall, however, was against his father's involvement in the Rebellion round-up, and secretly joined the group in order to feed them information about the next moves his father was planning (it was frequently a topic round the dinner table). At the Rebellion's fall, the Traitor revealed several individuals who assisted with it's uprising, and Randall's name was mentioned. Against his mother's wishes, Randall was kidnapped and locked away. During his imprisonment, he endured days upon days of torture, attempts at brainwashing and starvation, all at the command of his father. One day, Randall finally snapped, denouncing his way of life as a Rebellion spy and embracing the ideals of the U.S. government. To prove his loyalty, they placed him into a teaching job at Harvard University, and later gave him a job as an information gatherer in a special forces unit, where he currently works today (under close supervision of his father). The whereabouts of his mother are currently unknown. Government files confirm her as deceased, but her body has never been found.

Personality: Cold and harsh. Her word is law to all her lowermen. She seems to have no care for people in general and beleives she deserves more respect then she is given (and that's quite a bit of it already) people fear her every waking move and don't dare disobey her, unless of course you are part of the rebellion whom, if it were up to her, would not have been released the last time they were captured and would have been immediatly put to death. As it is, she gets her thrills out of watching them suffer. In her mind, if they are gone, the world would be inperfect peace and harmony and her migrane would go away once in for all.
Bio: She married a man named Calvin Driggers when she was very younge and had a son Tanner Driggers. She was born part of the government and her husband thought that maybe she loved him enough to not care if he told her he was leader of the rebellion. he was wrong. She threw a fit when she found she had married a leader of the Rebellion and sent the government out to capture them, learning soon after where their hide out was. The capture was a success and that is where they gave them the choice of tell or else. She had no care for Calvin Driggers' death and felt he deserved what he got. when she heard her son, Tanner, was now orphaned, she did not care to take him in do to the fact that he had spent fifteen years of his life with her rebelious husband. Instead, she made it her job to keep him and all his rebelious friends in line where they belong, and she doesn't care what it takes to do so.

Structure: Toned body with usually some sort of annoyance on his face. He has fair white skin, showing some sort of English decent. His face is shaved, but always rugged. Leaving a 5 o clock shadow always on it.

Eyes: Hazel-gray.

Hair: Short Brown hair. Pointed up naturally because of length.

Clothing:

Official: A dark gray uniform, cut similarly to the traditional uniform of the army. Collared with metals and other markings showing his ranking and achievements. Dark gray pants with a buttoned shirt. Shined boots and belt that match in a black. He wears a his field beret, a black cap he has had for years.

Field: The same black beret that he wears in his official wear. The rest of his clothing is urban camo that the other soldiers wear. He also wears full body armor like the rest.

Casual: Usually a collared shirt with blue jeans and boots. He wears a baseball cap as he feels he always needs a hat on.

Abilities or Attributes: He is a high ranking official.

Job: Lt. Gen. in charge of the 4th US Military Division. The military is now inclusive of the navy, marines, airforce and army. He field commands one of 11 divisions. Only the generals and commanders of the military over him.

Personality: He always looks constantly annoyed. Something not going right or someone telling him something. He has been known to constantly rub his forehead in frustration. In person, he likes to be very controlling and considers himself smart, making people feel like they were talking to a smart ass. To people he likes and can trust, you can find him nice and understanding. To people he doesn't know, he can be a prankster. And to higher officials he hates, he always seems to have a dirty look on his face while being silent.

Bio: Born into his position perfectly, he loves to field command his troops in battle. He has a tendency to be fair for his troops and take flack from upper command. He is one of the favored general to be under because of his realism and ability to lead his troops.

During the first rebellion, he was one of the most dangerous commands, taking out hives of rebellions peacefully or with little loss on his side. To his enemy he has been called the 'Blitz' for his infantry style of assault. He also is on the front lines, making his troops trust him even farther. He heard that the reason they found all these hives was a traitor among the resistance, although he was not given the name or an opportunity to meet this individual. This has made his planning especially careful.

He has a few individuals under him and over him that he can trust. Most of the time, the under stay with him... creating a specialized unit. The people he has really connected to are the other lieutenant generals of the other divisions. What he feels to be the real power of the military, not the upper bureaucracy. There has been one upper management that has been bothering him lately. A Elizabeth Niles, someone he hasn't met in person yet but has heard some nasty things about.

Other: He carries a colt python .45 double action revolver with specialized armor piercing and anti-personnel rounds. The rounds punch think body armor and cause a hollow point shred on impact. Each round is over 1000$ per bullet and were specialization order for him. He carries twelve on him, six in the chamber and six in an revolver clip reloader.

His close quarters combat weapon of choice is AA-12 with flechetter/buck anti-personal rounds. The gun is an automatic shotgun with no recoil. The round allows for short range spread with long range armor piercing rounds, allowing a shotgun to be threatening for over 500 yards. He also carries a specialized frag-12 which makes his shots explosive and hard armor piecing, allowing even armored vehicles and light tanks to be in threat.

Job: Xaelis is an expert journalist, taught to tell of the propaganda handed down to her by other unknown sources and government itself. Amongst joining the Rebellion, Xaelis was taught to write anonymously, of the rebellions doings, and how they were affecting the world. In no way has she ever told secrets of the Rebellion, nor will she ever. Though being the journalists she is, it has sprung up many accusations her way.

Personality: I'm hoping most of it will come out in the roleplay, butan overview, as one would say, would be: Xaelis, along with the odd name given at birth, is a particular being. She's never liked the government through noted propaganda and always wanted to rebel.

Bio: She was given the name Xaelis in honor of her mother who had died as a loyal leader of the old rebellion, which she herself was also a part of. Taught from hatred, Xaelis, grew herself into one of the most well-known Rebellious.

Structure: Sophie is very slim. She has delicate looking bones that are truly pretty strong because of her career. Sophie has amazingly white skin and a heart shaped face, her facial features are delicate as is her body. Her body though, as I already pointed out is very strong because of her job.

Eyes: Sophie has wide, innocent looking gray eyes. They stare out from her face, in a knowing, almost afraid looking way.

Hair: Sophie's hair is a luscious waterfall of dark brown, almost black. Her curls gently down her back, adding to her child-like innocence.

Weight: 101 pounds

Clothing:

Official: Whatever outfit is required for the dance. And of course her pointe shoes.

Casual: Flat shoes, jeans and a tee shirt, or a dress and flat shoes. She doesn't have a set casual outfit.

Personality: Sophie is usually timid. She prefers to stay out of the spotlight except when she is dancing. Then she usually can suck the audience into a trance watching her and the performance.

Bio: Sophie was born in the USA, her parents accepted the government as did she. She mainly accepted it because she doesn't know anything about it and doesn't like to stir up her life. Her father died a few years ago, which she didn't mind because she only felt a respect for him. No love. Her mother is still alive at 53. Her father and her mother had a large gap in age difference, so they had nothing more then a tolerance for each other. Sophie grew up with this, never knowing what love looked like. Now she lives by herself in a small house(Or apartment, depending on the setting.) She makes enough money to keep herself in comfort and to have quite a few luxuries. Nothing extravagant.

Other: Sophie is easily scared, seeing as she is very timid.

bI know that it's complelety irrelevant to what main plot fo Roleplay but I'm bit curiosu about how the not so good US of A got to the status that it is in the RP. Is it safe to assume taht this has something to do with economics strugles and the rising power of china,(of course PRC is more liberalised than it was thiry years ago but it's still considered authoritarian and 'full of Commies'.) Unfortunatley this would be less suprsing then America being both a Constitutional Republic and a superpower by the 2050's.

Well, I haven't quite figured that out, but no wthat you mention it....

I'm thinking that about thirty-some years ago or something, the current President rose to power. The youngest president ot ever be elected, at age 37. Little did the population know of his ailing mental stability. For the first term, everything seemed normal enough, even as if America's economic situation was getting better. So he was re-elected, but by the first year of the second term things went awry. The President started ordering outrageous laws; and he had the money to carry them out. Members of Congress and the Judicial branch started dissapearing or ending up dead. Soon all of the other government officials caved in to the President's whims. So that was how the House of Representatives and the Senate was extinguished from the federal government, leaving only the executive branch and extreme power.

The first new law was that he could carry out his term until his own death, and then hired a swarm of bodyguards to ensure the death wasn't untimely. Next was the Americans' loss of privacy, then the loss of job, marriage, and children decisions.

And then, the Rebellion popped up, and we all know what happened next.

Abilities or Attributes: Technologically advanced.

Job: Amaya was directed to work in networking and cracking codes and firewalls set by the old Rebellion. Also to work the cameras and the observation networks. She could also replace new footage with old causing a lot of problems with the security cameras. She's good with any type of system as long as she has her laptop.

Personality: Amaya is a bit bold. She can be sarcastic to a fault, and doesn't mind stepping on anyone's toes. If she's in a sour mood, she'll let you know. However, she can be quite fair and totally unpredictable. She gets into discussions about computers quite quickly and often spouts off random bits of information to lighten the mood. She can't stay on one topic long, however, and has to keep moving. She's extremely intelligent, but hates showing off or drawing attention to herself. Amaya can be a little moody and hates big crowds. She doesn't like going on the front lines either, but is a pretty good asset when it comes to spy missions, or making distractions. Likes to take her time, and hates being told what to to, pushed around, or told to hurry.

Bio: Amaya joined the Rebellion for two reasons: Freedom and Revenge. Her father taught her everything she knew about computers and how they worked. She even prays to a "Machine Spirit" within technology, swearing that the machines are alive and if you treat them well, they will treat you well. Amaya was often teased because of her ears and unusual skin color. Her parents are baffled as well as to why she was born this way. Amaya's theory was that because she spent most of her time indoors and surrounded by computer monitors, her skin turned that hue, and because she had to hear her parents over the thrum of the constant machines around them, her ears elongated. Whatever the reason, she doesn't seem to care. When her father was placed a suspect for being with the Rebellion, he was taken away and never seen again. In grief, Amaya's mother killed herself in a sudden frenzy. Amaya was then placed in a home for children, but quickly escaped wanting to know more about this Rebellion...why she wanted to join a group that caused her parent's misfortune, she did not know, but maybe there would be answers. Besides, she has always hated the Government.

Loyal or Traitor: Loyal to those proven worthy of her loyalty.

Other: When Amaya was teased, it was often the boys that did the teasing, so Amaya grew up with a certain hatred for the male population. She thinks they are annoying and quite frustrating at times, but she refuses to go lesbian.
