Solar Prominence

June 11, 2011, the world was struck by the largest solar prominence known to man. Everyone expected the world to end, the heat of the solar prominence to burn them to ashes. Families joined together and religious ceremonies with a record number of people attending took place. All closed their eyes as the solar prominence was coming, a count-down being sent via television to tell exactly when the solar prominence would hit. 3…2…1…… The solar prominence had finally arrived at Earth, swept past all the forests and homes of innocent civilians, but did not burn them. People slowly opened their eyes, wondering how they were alive.

Soon tides of great news flooded the channels, all gleefully laughing at their great fortune. Some say that their god had protected everyone from the earth, as they had prayed for him/her in their last minutes. But others knew the truth. They didn’t know what the “solar prominence” really was, but they knew it did change something. The people that knew... were the people that changed. Powers now coursed through their veins, allowing them to control elements, turn invisible, and a variety of other abilities.

Sadly to say, a US military official by the name Reeves Lewis, got a magic power, and realized what kind of power it could give him. He had gone power hungry, but he needed to know what he was dealing with. He gathered his best men, his friends who wouldn’t mind getting in on a sweet deal, and devised a plan. They would capture people who they discovered had powers, and place them in a forgotten military facility. They would create a series of “tests” to see the limits of their abilities. Once he was done, the strongest survivors would work for him, doing whatever he said. But perhaps the powers were too much for him to handle. Only time will tell.

Hello and welcome to the RP, “Solar Prominence”. As you can see above, you are someone who was endowed with special abilities as the strange so-called “Solar Prominence” swept past Earth. It’s been a month since you got your abilities, so you do know what they are, but as you were doing something, you accidentally used one of your powers. One of Reeves’ men noticed, and quickly sedated you before you could respond. You wake up in a dimly lit room and find yourselves with a bunch of others with abilities, who had went through the same thing you did.

Rules
1. No godly abilities like controlling everyone’s brains so they kill themselves, this isn’t Code Geass.
2. Follow the usual rules of any RP, like respecting fellow role players.
3. Try not to make an awesome plot twist without notifying me, and waiting for the OK. I’m open to ideas that will improve the role play though.
4. Make sure to add details and not have a three sentence post in the IC.
5. Though this is in fact a fantasy role play, try and keep realistic factors in the story. As in, if someone slows down time temporarily, it makes no sense your character can talk to everyone, because they’d talk like: “HHHHEEEEEEEEEYYYYY GGUUUUUUUYYYYYSSSSSS…” You get my point.
6. Keep the OOC comments here, and if you have questions, I prefer you just PM me.

Well, I hope this turns out to be a good role play. It will be open for pretty long, so no need to rush your applications.

Name: Joseph "Joey" Mills
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Abilities (2 Main ones and 2 minor ones, minor ones being optional):
1.) Stone Arm: Joey's arm glows brightly green, and earth (rocks, cement, bits of metal, etc..) rip out of their surroundings and form around his arm, turning it into a large armored stone arm. This arm has super human strength, and durability, near indestructible. Doesn't know how to control it yet.
2.) Gravity: Joey can alter gravitational fields for a wide area of effects. He sucks at it though. Primarily used for minor telekenesis at the moment.
3.) Regeneration: He heals faster than most, not like Wolverine or anything, but he does have a slightly greater degree of durability, for example, he could fall off a ten story building and get up, dazed, but relatively unharmed, the minor fractures healing themselves swiftly enough to not hinder him to greatly for to long. Doesn't know he has this.
4.) Stone Growth: Joey subconsciously uses his gravity control to pull mass amounts of small stone particles together out of nothingness, to create large stone constructs almost instantaneously, such as a large stone shield or weapon. He doesn't actively think about using his gravity control for this, and actually also propogates this process, so that more stone forms out of nothingness around the existing stone particles, making this ability much faster than he could consciously control it. Large objects create powerful winds as they push all air away from the point they are created at. This is the ability he is currently most adapt in, but creating large objects outs a large strain on him.

Bio: Joey grew up in New York, in a middle class family, went to a regular high school, was fairly popular, and lead a fairly regular life. He lived at home with his little brother (17), parents, and grandfather until moving to the school. Solar Prominensce scared him pretty bad, and he's taking life a lot more seriously now, becoming more introverted and speculative about the world. He was kidnapped when he heard a gunshot, and instinctively put his hands in front of his face, subconsciously forming a floating rock shield. He was then tranqued from behind.

Name: Ellthina Lour(aka Ellie)
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Abilities: 1) Ocean's Wave - With a snap of her fingers, she can cause water to rise and shape into any form, but for this ability in particular, she can cause a tsunami to form and come crashing onto land. {Hasn't learned}
2) Stormy Hail - With a wave of a hand, she can take the water particles in the air and create them into hail clouds, causing big lumps of ice to fall from the sky. And with her state of mind, she can cause the hail to go in which ever direction she would like. {Hasn't learned}
3) The Wind's Wrath - A simple twirl is all it take for her to create a tornado. She has the ability to direct the wind in which ever way she pleases, creating a dust storm with the wind or a water spout.
4) Like the Wind - Like the wind, she has the ability to move faster and the possibility to outrun her opponent depending on who they are. Also, like the wind regains itself, she can also regains herself, having the natural ability to heal faster than normal.

Personality: Ellie is usually calm and kind. She enjoys freedom, like a bird, she is glad to finally be able to be free of a cage, which is what it was like to her when she was back home with her mother. Though her moods change dramatically like the weather on certain occasions. She is also adventuress and outgoing. She's usually an easy going person who can get along with others.
Bio: She grew up in Louisiana, living with only her mother. When she was 16 she began traveling to new places, looking for somewhere more fun and adventuress. With many places to go, soon as she turned 18 she began traveling across America. She ended up being in Los Angeles when the solar prominence occurred.
A month later she was just twirling around while listening to music while out on the streets, ignoring society. When she heard screams she stopped and looked around, seeing small tornadoes around her, causing her hair to fly in her face. A black vehicle pulled up to the side and two men stepped out, one carried what looked like a dart gun in his hand. She began running away, scared by these men because she had a gut feeling telling her that these weren't the greatest of people to be near. Suddenly she fell, feeling numb. She could see that there was a small needle stuck in her arm, and that both of the men were walking towards her. That's all she saw before passing out and waking up in the small room.

=S Great apologies here, I decided to change the concept of the roleplay quite drastically. You can still play if you want, and if you don't, I don't blame you. Sorry again for the change. If you want to just continue, all you have to do is take off the body part glowed and colour.

I still like the RP, so I'm gonna stick with it, I'm curious how everything is going to turn out. But just wondering, since the color thing is out, could one control more than one element, like say water and wind for example.

Can you explain the change so we can recreate our characters if we want for the new version?

I am interested - Coming up with a character sheet as I post this - will edit it into this post once I have my mind set on one thing

Personality/Bio:
Just your average girl from the neighborhood, growing up in a middle class family - she never had to worry about things like money. She could always relax, studying and training a little in her fathers Martial Arts academy. She usually spends her days outside hanging out with her friends, easy going nature, can be a little stubborn at times. She tends to kick people to the curb if they really annoy her - mercilessly. Though usually she gives everyone at least another chance to change her opinion on them, she was a rather popular teenager being half Latin and half Japanese - she's a really mixed up young woman. drop dead gorgeous and she's been half corrupted by the media - so she gets what she wants from those young men around her - be it a ride home, free drinks or just someone to do her a favor. A little obnoxious at times, definitely immature more than she'd like it to be, a very sharp tendency to overreact about certain issues. Short fused sometimes, but she has a sweet and kind side - and people who have known her for a while know that very well.

One day - after the incident which they thought would obliterate earth itself - she found herself oddly affected by the events. She was able to do things which were not in the domain of the 'normal' human but more like a super natural league. Walking home from an errand she had run for her mother, a black van had stopped, abruptly shoving it's sliding door open and two men had grabbed her and thrown her into the Van. She hit her head, being unconscious for the entire trip she found herself in a dark cell. Not knowing what had happened she looked around, not recognizing anything she found herself lost in the hands of complete strangers.

Sure. Multiple elements are now yours to choose from, I'd also appreciate it if you include in your bio what you were doing when you were kidnapped. Like this: After quite the yelling from his mother, John left his house in a hurry. He loved the outdoors, and didn't really mind going outside to do the groceries. It was just that he was about to finish his favourite game when his mother had asked him to, so he refused quite impolitely. This resulted in the scolding. But it didn't matter now, as he ran to the grocery store he.. "Wait, why's everyone staring at me?" He wondered. "ACK," he realized, he had ran way faster than the speed of a regular human, reaching the grocery store in 2 minutes when it was a 10minute walk. Just as he was trying to think of a logical explanation. A man in a glossy red car, clearly expensive, stepped out and had a big smile on his face. The man looked at him and silently muttered "Gotcha you fast devil," and shot a tranquilizer into John's arm. The man quickly got John into the car, and drove away before anyone could call the police.

Maybe not that long >< but you get the gist of it.

Oh, and I will be playing the role of Reeves Lewis, just a heads-up. If the role play has trouble getting off the ground, I'll just do two characters.

Nice, nice. Joseph "Joey" Mills is accepted, but Gabriel_Whist, you forgot to take out colour and body part, that's gone now. I must admit that I really love the idea of Joseph's power, as it's more unique than most and skills don't need particular restrictions. As for flame_lily, the hurricane as a third power is accepted, but powers at the beggining stage will be relatively weak. As stages progress I will notify changes in power, and restrictions. Flamy_lily, you need to add in the kidnapping in your bio and then your in.

Age: 19.
Gender: Female.
Abilities: 1) Ice: Rose's body is extremely cold, this is because her body has been changed dramatically to absorb moisture in the air. It runs through her veins and becomes ice which can then seep back through her pores. She can throw the ice, shape it, and shoot it like bullets from her finger tips. Although they only pierce the surface of skin rather than kill.
2) Heal: This is her minor ability it doesn't happen fast but it does mean that she can survive some fatal blows.
Appearance:
Bio: Rose is pretty lazy, at least she was before the Solar Prominence hit. Before she had no energy, ever, with a bad diet and little sleep, induced from family matters, she was able to do little more than sit over a park with her mates. Now she is full of energy. She's hyper and feels like she has her childhood back as her energy no longer comes from food or sleep but the moisture in the air. In the last month she has been experimenting and has come up with a few ways to use her new power, although some of her friends (Including a boy she was dating) have shied away from her personality change which means she is home a lot more and realising how bad her parents relationship really is.

It was on one afternoon when she was home with her disfunctional family that all hell broke loose. An argument raged between her parents that ended up on the street when her mother threatening to leave. Angry words were exchanged and her Rose's father struck her mother.
"Get off of her!" Rose shouted, running forward and grabbing his wrist to prevent him from doing it again. Her father let go of his wife and turned on his daughter, raising his hand to strike her he suddenly cried out in pain. He pulled his arm from her grasp and staggered back, looking down at his wrist that now had a few sharpened pieces of ice sticking out of it.
"You little bitch!" he cried as blood dripped from his arm.
"Get out o..." Rose started but was cut short when she felt a sharp pain in the back of her left shoulder, she fell to her knees as her body suddenly went weak, the last thing she saw was a man in a black suit standing above her before she passed out.

Here's the link to the IC, at the moment, you can all get acquainted amongst yourselves. I will be posting a description of Reeves Lewis, and also the current limitation of all your abilities. For now, they will be pretty weak.

Name: Reeves Lewis

Gender: Male

Abilities: Reeves' first ability is unique but it takes time. With a proper understanding/schematic of an object, in 24 hours he is able to create the object in real life in the location he sees fit. This enables him to create a variety of stages that will test the "players" wits and skills without having to have money or workers to build the equipment.
He also has the ability of clairvoyance. This doesn't mean he sees the future, rather, he is able to see into rooms and other locations without being there.
Reeves is said to have another ability, but he has hidden the secret well, and nobody knows what it is yet.
Appearance: His 10 years in the military has given him a massive body. With broad shoulders and large forearm muscles, he looks intimidating to most. Reeves wears his military uniform when in the abandoned military base, as he finds it helps him concentrate, and allows him to think of good "stages" for his testing.

Bio: Reeves Lewis had a rough past ever since he was a child. His father was slightly strict to him, and told him always to use a polite tone. His father's strictness was hardly an issue however. Reeves life took a turn for the worse when at 9 years old, his father and mother had caught a disease that was going around and passed away. He was sent immediately to a fostering home, where he was treated roughly due to how he always said please, and was considered a suck-up. Reeves grew out of the habit in the end, and kicked the other boys who had made of him. He ended up growing up in the fostering home alone.

Finally when he became 19 years old, he decided that he would become a military officer. His training was grueling and tough, but he didn't mind. Reeves began to learn a variety of tactics, learning that discipline could be taught through threats. His self-centered mind was hardly helped in this environment, where he had learned the phrase, "Every man for himself." He made it his motto in life, and his new gained powers from the strange solar prominence helped him come up with a good plan. If it succeeded, he could be the ruler of the world, something that couldn't be achieved without force in this time and age.

main 1: ken can make flames appear out of nowhere and control them
main 2: ken is fire proof.
sub 1: ken heals quickly.


Appearance: ken wears black jeans and a black t-shirt most of the time.


Bio: ken was a run away before the solar prominence. after the solar event he learned he was fireproof and could control flames. he decided that instead of helping people, he would hurt people. he burnt down his home town in a matter of minutes. he then proceeded to cause the worst forest fire in California ever. he was then found by a agent of the u.s military and is now currently being held captive in some remote location.

poison snowman, the idea of the ability is cool, but I have to say you should fix it up. I'm just not seeing how he can help everyone in the abandoned military base by looking like someone. A decoy? Sounds useful but is extremely difficult to incorporate into a plot. Have something that can either help protect people (but no barriers, two people have those already), or have something that helps destroy things.

Now that we've got quite a decent amount of people registered into the RP, I urge you all to begin writing posts in the IC. Remember to keep a 1 paragraph minimum. The main reason for that is because more detail = better roleplay, as it adds more depth to the characters' surroundings, and can help describe the character's personality, so that people don't have to keep checking the OOC.
