@Sonata: I've revised my background so that it is easier to understand and significantly more plausible, in relation to the general plot. Could you please reconsider my rank?

I hope everyone is still excited as the day of The Break Out approaches. If you want to edit your profiles, feel free. Just let me know when you do. I don't have to know what you did, but I have to know if you editted it or not. If ever you had some power, and as the role play goes on, you feel it's not working for you and you want to switch, I'm sorry. So if you have been "not sure" on whether you wanted your character to have that power or not, then its time to decide. You have until after The Break Out to decide.

Now, let me tell everyone how I plan to do this. "The Break Out" is like a chapter. My first post will say, "The Break Out." And when The Break Out chapter ends, I'll write a concluding chapter. So after The Break Out, when we hit the desert, that's a new chapter. That chapter will have a name and will come with an outline of how we're going to do it so everyone knows. As you noticed, I wrote one on the first page of this OOC for The Break Out. The next chapter is going to be the same way. The play is going to be organized, and its going to be fun.

Also, while you're role playing it, if you happen to get some idea or you had something in mind to happen to your character or something, let me know in PM. We will see if it doesn't affect the plot.

Awesome, I'm very excited about the upcoming Monday (even if that completely marks the end of my weekend)!

@ reticulated99: Well it's good that you really seem to know your stuff and like to keep things realistic, but really, there's no real problem if he wants to use a Desert Eagle right? I mean, what if (er, it's not a likely reason, I know. I just like to give people the benefit of the doubt) someone intended to sort of use the massive downsides of a D.E. to help bring out their character better and/or make their posts more interesting? Besides, it says:
Favored weaponry (the weapons your char is more than likely to carry from pocket knife to SMG, etc.)

It doesn't say anything about whether or not they're actually able to use the weapon (though it would appear logical to assume so), it's just a weapon that the character is likely to carry around with them.

I apologize beforehand if I appear to sound rude and/or arrogant, that is not my intention at all.

I don't see what is so wrong with a DE. It's just a normal handgun of .50 caliber. At least I didn't say that I dual wield two M2 .50 cal Browning Machine Guns. Now THAT is unrealistic. Sure, DE's have massive recoil, but a strong enough person could keep it controlled. Besides, it's not like I'm gonna go full auto with two DE's and rain .50 cals on people. I'm a sniper remember? I place carefully aimed shots on specific targets.

Hey everyone,

Because I haven't seen any new people post a profile in two days, I may consider starting the role play either today or tomorrow. Or, if you guys have a day to agree on, we can vote on it. Majority rules. So go ahead and voice your opinions on the matter here.

All right. I'm going to go get some food, and I'll come back here and type up the beginning of The Break Out. Take your time writing your posts. You do not have to post it today. This role play is going to be long and enjoyable, and you'll enjoy it more if you know you've put your all into every single post. Also understand, that your SOLDIER rank for when SOLDIER gets established later in the storyline, is determined by how you post in this role play. How dynamic you make your characters and their personality, actions, etc. show. That is what I'm looking for.

With that having been said, prepare yourselves! :D

Re: SOLDIER (OOC/Forever Accepting) ( )

Postby Sonata on Fri Oct 24, 2008 9:00 pm

I have typed up the first post for the IC SOLDIER RP, but before I post it, I want to give you answers to some questions you may have after reading it.

1. The chips are always in everyones' necks.

2. You must mention in your post having removed the chip. You don't have to go into detail, but you can if you want, but make sure you mention removing it, or otherwise, it'll still be in there and your character is screwed.

3. The resistance isn't limited to just the people who joined this role play. Imagine many people are going to be breaking out with your characters and they can be/are NPCed.

4. Yes, Cael is a wuss.

5. Everyone should conclude with their characters in the alley outside Bertucci's. Get creative.

6. It is night time (for those who didn't focus on the time).

7. Your characters supposedly got a letter in the mail about the resistance, so that is how they will know when it's happening.

I believe that sums everything up. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. The role play will be posted in the Futuristic Roleplay section. When I post, I will set a quick link to the RP on the first page of this OOC discussion. All future links to the chapters in our RP will be placed on the first page of the RP discussion.

And finally, if you are nervous about posting for you fear you might post the wrong thing, you are welcome to send your post to me in PM first so I can go over it. If you're hoping to better your description, only if you ask me, I can point out some things you can emphasize on. This role play is to help improve your writing and it is also to be fun. So if you see some errors in my post, please inform me PM lol.

Additional Information: The significance of Cael setting The Break Out at 10:30PM in the RP is that the security droids change shifts. During that change of shift they aren't patrolling the streets, which gives everyone time to get down to the alley by Bertucci's bar and grill. So, it is smart if you want to mention the time in your role play to not say 10:40 or 11:00 in your post.

(Edit: I just realized that the IC post took me four hours to write and revise. Holy shiz...)

As I said, there is no hurry. You will see me posting big at times when I'm using NPCs or explaining to you certain aspects you need to know. As we RP on, you will see my posts shrink as everyone becomes more knowledgable with their surroundings and each characters' personalities.

(Edit: Welcome aboard Korrye.)

(Edit2: Wow. I didn't expect you guys to reply so fast.)

(Edit3: Your posts were beautiful. Everyone was accurate. Proclaimer, I think Gabriel will have pressed Cael's dork mode button.)

Re: SOLDIER (OOC/Forever Accepting) ( )

Postby Korrye on Fri Oct 24, 2008 11:01 pm

Real Name
Aleks Tanya Connally

Nickname
Charlie or Quatre; never use her real name.

Age
Twenty-nine, just having turned that age this past week.

Height
5”10, same as always and it’s not likely to change.

Weight
One-hundred and thirty pounds of muscle packed onto one body.

Gender
The Femme Fatale kills you from a far.

Hair Color
Shining in the sun, naturally dark brown with red highlights in long pin straight strands reflect with the rays.

Eye Color
They stare at you from a far, a speck too small too see, hazel leaning towards brown.

Physique
Aleks is well built after years of training and working in her profession. As a former assassin for the government-before the war broke out- she uses a formal training routine keeps her in tip-top shape. Her upper body is toned but not overly bulky, as are her calves and thighs. Never, however, does she look bulky in person. As a female she retains her curves.

Dominant Hand
Aleks is ambidextrous however as a child she was right handed. When she took up arms she trained herself to use both as a protective mechanism. If her dominant hand were ever shot she would need to be able to use the other to defend herself and so she can.

SOLDIER

Occupation
Long-distance and out of range; the sniper in the back of the field praying on those a mile away.

Special Abilities
Aleks powers work in two ways; short term and long term.

Short term; omni-linguism extends her human knowledge of languages and mother tongues. When she meets a person who speaks another language then she will be able to communicate with them in a sort of linguistic assimilation. This power doesn’t really affect Aleks that much unless she’s reading texts in another language that she doesn’t know. Another ability has to do with her eyes; Aleks gains the ability of telescopic and microscopic vision; able to focus on objects as far as five miles away. Through this essentially Aleks gains herself a pair of eagle eyes, helping her in her long range sniping.

Long term; reactive adaptation or evolution works for Aleks in the long run. After encountering a disease or power she gradually grows immune to it, her body creating antidotes or cures for it within her helping her stay healthy and lively.

Major Skills
Aleks lived as a field agent for many years. She has complete control over her emotions and her personality, able to switch from one character to another in the blink of an eye. This superb quality lets her become another character, one of many that she has mastered over the years. As an actor she would make hoards of money because of her skill and the small details that make up these personalities. On top of this her field experience is extremely valuable. She knows how to survive in a volatile environment, how to track people, how to work with many weapons and how to read their emotions in the same way that a mentalist would. She is skilled in hand to hand combat skills but also knows how to act appropriately in the moment should things not go as she planned. Then there’s one other thing on Aleks’ side: luck.

Minor Skills
After years of desensitisation towards grotesque events she isn’t disgusted by anything. As a tactician she is skilful at planning and organizing. Although her tactics may be a little in your face or old school they’ve been proven to work.

Personality
Hard as a rock is the best way to describe her. After the incident with her mother, when Aleks basically gave up on her childhood, she lost a sense of true emotion. Today she just doesn't allow herself to feel emotional about a certain subject. In reality Aleks is trained to be this way because excess emotion causes fault. She is incredibly meticulous about certain things. She is okay with being dirty, as in mud and crap, but not disorganized. She needs organization to function. The people she works for can be the worst organized citizens in the world and she won't care because some people can function in clutter however she can't.

She is touchy about certain subjects but for her employers anger is fuel. When she does get pent up energy and emotion then she'll usually set up a punching bag. Aleks will never take out her anger on a client or during a kill. Her emotions and feelings are never to get in the way of a contract kill.

Aleks is headstrong and opinionated. She never hesitates to state what is on her mind. She works independently and is very subtle about her work. She doesn't boast about her job, she keeps everything under wraps. Her assassin occupation is not flaunted to people on the street. Any exchanges are subtle, should they ever occur in broad daylight. Her kills are, most times, long shot snipes in public or head on kills in enclosed locations. After any kill she'll leave behind a note 'from Charlie' symbolizing that she did the deed.

As an assassin would be she is a chameleon. She can blend into her surroundings and become a new character in the blink of an eye. Her face has had little to no plastic surgery alterations to make changing so quick and painless. By simply tying her hair back and wearing a darker blush her face and cheekbones become harsher and she suddenly looks old. By wearing her hair down she can pass off for a person as young as eighteen. She is incredibly at putting on the face of another persona and speaking in another dialect. She knows a wide variety of European languages and some oriental. Aleks mastered the accents of the languages long ago so speaking them and seeming like a native to the country is no issue. Although she may play a variety she never loses herself and who she is. She is proud to be herself.

Background
Aleks grew up in what was once picturesque suburbia New York State. Her family lived in an expansive farm house and she was the middle child of three daughters. Her parents, Alicia and Deryk, strived to establish a good life for their children. Alicia worked for the local sheriffs department while Deryk was a professor of medicine working for the university in the city over. They ate dinner together, they spoke of their troubles openly and they lived their lives. Aleks was always described as bubbly and cheerful up until she turned then. Then everything started to change. A trouble began brewing, a conflict between her loving mother and father. For weeks on end the three girls would be able to stay up late sitting at the top of the stairs listening with horror as their parents screamed at one another. Although they never learned why the fighting gradually ended on the morning of Aleks’ tenth birthday. As any happy child would she bounded downstairs excited beyond measure to have reached double digits. Instead of the regular streamers, balloons and pancake breakfast that her mother provided her father sat at the kitchen table his face red and in his hands. He was weeping violently, a chopping knife removed from the butcher’s block (still clean) in his hands. The man didn’t explain anything to Aleks, he only looked up and met her in the eyes and said that her mother was gone.

The police station executed a search and even took Deryk in for questioning but there was nothing to be found. Alicia was gone and without his wife to help him Deryk grew unstable. He worked at the university day in and out drowning himself in his work and forgetting about his children. Aleks eventually grew tired of going hungry so she left when she was thirteen to be with a group of friends who owned a well known garage. Her first exposure to illegal activity was during these years that she stayed with a close friend; Noel. He was young, attractive and living the life through street racing. Aleks stuck around for three years until Noel was eventually busted. Aleks was taken into custody but as they searched for her sisters or even her family there were none to be found except one; an aunt in France. So away Aleks was sent to Europe. At sixteen she was a wreck, emotional and at already at a loss for words. She was no sociopath, only disappointed that it appeared as if her life would amount to nothing. Her aunt was welcoming when she arrived. She lived in a large mansion, what they would call a chateau. The living situation was far better than anything Aleks had ever known so she adapted to the high class lifestyle. For six months she basked in luxury until her uncle returning from a business trip to Hong Kong. Having heard stories from her aunt but also from others in the neighbourhood Aleks quickly learned that her uncle was a wretched man only consumed with himself and his greed for other women. Aleks was sickened by him but nevertheless a gala was held for him upon his return. Aleks watched as her uncle meandered with the women. Eventually she, herself, was cornered by him. He caressed her and threatened her, telling her that if she didn’t do what he wanted then he would have her killed. The threat revolted her. She managed to escape him for the first part of the evening until he came upon her once again at the top of the stairs. He grabbed her, pinned her against a wall and started brushing her hair out of her face. Aleks retaliated and did the only thing she could: she pushed him over the railing of the stairs. He was dead upon impact; the ten foot fall broke his neck in front of dozens of people. From there Aleks fled. She took a job as a nanny for a family and moved throughout Europe changing her looks so as not to be recognized. The more she wandered the more often men wished to court her. Disgusted Aleks began to target the abusive men, the ones who disgusted her. She took up arms against them and began to kill them. The numbers were small; maybe six in total, but each killed was killed under the name Briar-rose. And so a legend was born.

When Aleks turned twenty she returned to the United States. The call to arms was being made by the people of independence. The moment Aleks landed on American soil however, she signed up for the marines under a pseudonym: Tanya Brunner. She was severely interested in honing in on these skills of hers and when Aleks signed up for sniper school she found her passion. It was not meant to last however. At twenty five the government liked her skills too much. She was taken into custody. Her real name was long gone and lost in paperwork, almost as if she didn’t exist which was what they wanted. They took her in and gave her an offer; black operations or jail. She left behind herself and signed up. They trained her, used her and covered her ass. But she rarely made a mistake. The program was established and used, Aleks terminated who she was requested to but took on other jobs on the side. When the nuclear blasts started Aleks was in a government facility undergoing a debriefing. She was taken into a shelter where she rode out the attacks. When she rose from the ashes she was taken in by the NOAH society and recruited for their army. Aleks didn’t fight their demands because she didn’t want the washing that they gave to others. Instead she went along with it, let them stab the chip into her neck and she went on. That is however, until they crossed the line. Aleks’ father was still alive somehow. The man worked in bio-engineering for the NOAH government and she was asked to personally ‘do them all a favour and kill him’. But she couldn’t and she wouldn’t face him. Aleks’ escape will happen as she’s slotted for brain washing, the idea not exactly something she wants to happen.

The one weapon that Aleks will have on her person is a Cheytac M200 long distance sniper rifle along with a Beretta 92G Elite IA on her person. Other small weapons may include a pocket knife to a handmade garret given the occasion. If, should this ever happen, she lose her weapons she can become reliable on any object on hand; say a ballpoint pen.

Additional Information
Aleks isn’t emotional when she is herself. She is cold, distant and shut off when it comes to communication. Her voice is rarely heard, she’s one for silence or classical music of high quality. This lack of emotion being displayed leads her often to break downs in private. Aleks isn’t a team player, the idea is painful. When she worked as an operative she worked on her own, trusting only herself. Trust isn’t easily gained on her part, ever. You get it once and if you blow it then she’ll hold a long term grudge against you no questions asked. She can't sew, she can't manage sudoku puzzles and she doesn't have morals. She’ll often think only for her well being and not for others, so long as she stays alive.

When Aleks undergoes her mutation she will retain her human appearance.

Do not feel you need to rush some posts. I will not be posting until everyone who has signed up for this RP has posted. If they haven't posted by the time everyone votes to move on, then we'll move on.
