Songs Made For Games ( )

Postby Cleril on Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:19 pm

Howdy, I make music for video games primarily and figured I'd bring light to them here. Feel free to share your favorite video game music or even music you made for your own games.

I use MAGIX Music Maker for these songs:

As for my favorite songs in other games:

Persona 4 - Pursuing My True Self - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKrPtx6LzrU

Beyond Good and Evil - First Encounter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZHqh19LQdo

Persona 3 - Burn My Dread (any of the versions, this is the full one) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbsAyGQ0k_U

That will be it due to my laziness!

Thank you kindly, those are just the songs I made for Words in MAGIX. Originally I used Myna, which is much less professional.

And if you want to play Words - cleril-calamity-studios-the-games-t65539.html

Thanks for responding. Other than my intro topic I haven't got any attention. :P

There's a definite flavor to the song. You really get a sense of each level. :O

I haven't listened to them all yet; I worked my way through the Hret ones, and am currently at the Abandoned Mine Explore. They're all really fun, sort of chill to listen to. A bit too chill sometimes. I can't wait to actually see it within the gameplay ..
GREEN: THE MOVIE

When 18-year-old Max Fenton's skin turns bright green,
he must balance sudden stardom with his destructively dysfunctional family.

Green is a 10-minute short film written by YOURS TRULY, being produced by Tribeca Flashpoint Studios, LLC.

Hehe, sadly none of those are really "in" the game yet. The locations aren't made, that's in the next update which I need to give you a patched version of Words...27 downloads of the one you just downloaded and nobody tells me at least 5 things were pretty bugged.

Give it a few more months and then you'll see all those songs in the game itself.

And I actually just remixed a song for the first time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPGGdKoLE6o

Thanks for the support!

Hret explore and Hret arena were really enjoyable to listen to, they provided plenty of surprises and fit the area of the game they were intended for.

I felt that all of the battle/fight songs were lacking, however. You have this marvelous ability to surprise the listener, turning to notes and instruments that are not expected. You should definitely monopolize on that talent! The reasons the battle/fight songs weren't "pleasing" to me is not because it lacked surprise. You managed that in all of the songs. It is because they either did not seem appropriate to the area they were designated for or did not give me that special feeling I desire when in a battle and hearing the battle music. I suppose one could call it a sense of fluidity and urgency? I also didn't like the rap or the latin vocals, but I am going to mark that down to personal taste. I appreciate that you are going against standard formula by including vocals, though.

As for the game over theme, it seems more like a song used as a transitional between sleeping or waiting.

Lastly, the camp theme doesn't sound like camp to me. It sounds like "I am shopping and it feel so good" (and I loved thee song by the way). My friend, though, who listened to the songs as well and had much the same opinions, considered this song to be exactly the sort of song one hears at camp, but didn't like it either way.

I think you definitely have talent, but perhaps some of these songs are misplaced. I am not a music expert obviously so don't take my honesty as a belief that what I have to say is useful, right, or important. It's possible I am completely wrong. At any rate, I would love to listen to more of your works.

Mister Cleril, would you do a commission for me? I might nee a :30 intro/outro bumper for a podcast series, and this 8-bit sort of retro sound is what I'm after.

So 30 seconds for both intro and outro? Or you want the same song for both the intro and outro?

And you want the 8-bit stuff? I've got plenty of samples, plus I can always splice the ones I got to make new ones!

Just give me more details and I'll be happy to do it.

Definitely! I'll let you know more information when I have it. I'm just glad to know that you're on board, in some sense.

Scratch my back and I'll be happy to scratch yours.

Just let me know when you want some stuff, you should know I'm not the most skilled for this stuff. I'm just self-taught and I don't make the samples (necessarily, depends), what I do is called "cooking", just mixing stuff together to make some sounds.

But I'm happy to help if that's what you want!
