Hello All!

I haven't posted here in a very long time. The last time I made a post here was back when I was first started getting into making Roleplays, and boy have I grown a lot since then. I have decided on making, and have already been working on a Superhero Roleplay like nothing you have ever seen before (Okay, or maybe you have...)

The site is a bit hard to describe, but to sum it up it is a Mystery role play set in a world full of superheroes and villains. Players will have the choice of choosing one of three careers: Police, news reporter, Operative ->(Like a spy, or communications expert depending on what you choose in game, this job is complicated and you have to join to understand it).

Players will than have a second choice to be either a normal human or a super, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. However, all people with powers will not be able to choose them, I have created a random power generator system to make sure all people with powers are completely unique from one another. And players will be neither heroes or villains, it all depends on your actions. It was a lot of hard work to make.
The story is about a conspiracy going on that has two sides to it, it will be your job to find out which side is the truth. However the game will be in a open world, meaning your actions will determine where the story goes, and how the city will grow and what it will become. I even came up with a "Dooms day" system to give players a choice to blow up the planet, and others to try and stop it. And a random crime system to give heroes something to do.

I have come up with many other things to make the role play fun, but to name them all will make this post very long (which it already is starting to get). So instead of going on and on, let me know if what I named interests you, if so I'll later post again letting you know I added the site to the RPG directory (I won't post the link here, just tell you the name of the site in the list).

The RP is almost complete so you will be able to join soon. It took me a very long time to make it so I hope you enjoy it. If you like comic book super heroes, a good detective story, or you just want to have fun and live your life in a open free world, let me know. I mostly posted this to see how many people would be interested in such a thing.
Oh yes, and the site is for more advance Role players that likes a good story, but I will accept new people as well to help get them started. :)

Sounds interesting. I'd be willing to join. I've been RP'ing for seven years, though I may be a bit rusty because I've been juggling a plethora of hobbies lately.

Definitely interested. Any chance of having a character who works for the police but as an independent agent (as in an actual detective), or does the career track necessarily for officers only?

To answer your question: yes, you can be a police officer that is independent, but for role play reasons you have to start in one of the preset groups when you first start off. And yes you can be a detective. In fact, one of my main characters is a detective investigating his daughters death and his partners disappearance. After you get settled in you may break off to do whatever you want, so you don't have to strictly follow the job guidelines.

I'm still looking for members to join my RP. In case you are reading this you are probably wondering what sets this one apart from other Superhero RPs out there. Well, this one is designed to be like a dungeons and dragons board game, but played over the internet with other people. It has a virtual dice log, skills, items and equipment to buy. Literally like a board game that is played online.
The dice log helps to keep fights fair, and you have to do "skill checks" to see if an action like overhearing a conversation is successful.
The RP is set in a futuristic city that is similar to New York. The site is story driven so that it actually has a plot and direction for where the RP will go. You can shape and change the story based on your actions- every choice you make has a consequence, rather that action is good or bad. This is also a mystery, so look for the clues to solve the strange murders and disappearances happening all over town. I'm looking for serious Role players to join the site to help get the story kicked off. There are currently three of us playing but things are a bit slow. I'm hoping to get more people to make the city more active.

I'll join Lightcaster. The idea of an open world, of superpowers and mystery sounds like a load of fun.

Although I don't know if I am comfortable with the random power generation, somehow I'll deal with it, but definatly not a fan of it. This has multiple reasons.
1. The power that I give my characters also has a heavy influence on their personality, name and appearance, so I can't make a character before I get my power and even then I have to find a way to make it fit.
2. I don't know if I'd like the power, or like it's boundries. Sure superpowers are supposed to be unchoosable for those poeple, but I like making powers myself.
3. The reason itself is almost a jab at my skill as a writer. Believe me you could have saved yourself a lot of effort and not make that generator. If you want unique, you get unique. You'd need an army of unique superhumans to keep me from creating something that you don't have and perhaps never even thought about.
4. I take pride in designing characters, each and everyone( even the scraps). And I think creating the power is also an important part of creating a character.( that's why I don't want others to use my characters, nor will use characters designed by others)

This isn't to criticise your manner of doing things, I'm sure for many who simply can't think of a power this will be a lifesaver and will prevent similar powers, but I( and perhaps some others like me) have a faint "don't like" with the idea.

Asside from the random power generator, the idea to have random crime generator is one I quite like. It might keep the scenario fresh is the less tense pieces.

I do want to point something out though about the random powers. I knew right away when I had the idea that about 95% of the people weren't going to like the random powers, but I'll explain why I chose it.
I wanted players to make a character with a life and personality, that WASN'T a gimmick of their powers. The RP is story and plot driven, the powers is just a bonus. Combat is an important part of the RP, but not really the main focus of the site. As for a lot of effort making it... It wasn't trouble at all.
It was really fun building this site!:D
The hardest part was keeping the story straight...

Anyways, the main idea for the site was to make a Superhero project to see what it would be like if a real person had super powered abilities.
What if you woke up one day and you had a random power?
How would you cope with it?
Would you look at your power as a curse?
If you could choose your power, you would never really have to learn how to use it because you were the one that created it. You would never get frustrated with your powers if you were placed in a difficult situation and you found your abilities to be useless to help you get out of it. Some people might also choose a power that is a bit extreme or over the top. If you participate in the battle arena you may have an idea of what I mean.

The idea was that if a player had no idea what their powers were going to be, then they would most likely create a character with a more realistic personality that was completely unique. Your character's gimmick would be based around their personalty and life, not their powers.

It makes sense. As soon as I get through your mandetory paperwork, you'll know. The thing probably is that i've been playing too many mind heavy powered characters anyways.( like chrono-manipulators, nothing to break your personality to crumbs than an enternity of lonelyness)

I would laugh really hard if you still rolled on the random dice log Time manipulation. :D

It has been a little over a month, so I'm bumping this up.

Looking for a long term RP partner failed. All the RPS I was referred to were inactive. And by inactive I mean that the GM only posted about once a week, and all other members were equally as slow. That is a bit too slow to me...
So here I am again, requesting active RPers that can post at least three times a week. I think I already said enough to tell what the site is about in earlier posts, so I'll keep this short. If you are not happy about the super power thing, you can always just make a normal human. I think that the random crime system and active members living a day to day life will be uber fun if I can just get it off the ground.

Soooo..... Bumping this up again. If you need more info check the starting post.

We are still looking for active members to help make the city come alive. The RP needs one detective and one News reporter to help fill in the gaps. Having powers is up to you. The RP is more on the line of X-men where humans and mutants live together. We're about to start our second event so more people joining would make things a lot more fun. I also made the RP more of a origins story, so you will discover your powers and create a Superhero/villain costume over time. I would prefer if people made a character first, and then created a super powered gimmick later (character and story is more important in this RP then the superpowers).
