Space: Near the white star Interous

Despite the fact that it lay in the middle of a massive pan galactic shipping lane, nobody ever paid real attention to the Interous system. This lack of interest stemmed from the fact that the Asteroid Field lacked useful minerals to mine, as well as the notion that Interous' two planets were not worth inhabiting.

Jasun, the farthest planet from its sun was barely massive enough to hold a spherical shape. The planet considered of no value due to its lack of atmosphere and frigid temperature. It's mostly flat landscape lay dotted by various abandoned outposts and temporary settlements, left behind by explorers, emergency repair crews, and space pirates. One of the settlements used to belong to a private surveillance company paid by various factions and nations to report on the movement of each other. When shipping though the area became popular the company upgraded its outpost to space station in solar orbit, leaving Jasun as lifeless as they found it.

At three times the diameter of earth, Arrig was much larger than its sister planet. Although its surface temputure averaged -40 Farinheight, Arrig's thick, Oxygen rich atmosphere and geothermal activity allowed the planet to harbor life. Prospective colonists were driven away by the crushing gravity and the fact that they found themselves on the lower end of the Arrig food chain. Early colonists un-creatively dubbed the planet's dominate insectiod predators 'Arrigians.' At anywhere between 2 and 20 feet tall the Arrigians had no trouble driving away uninvited guests with their toxic stings and four circular saw like mouthpieces. Their brutish physical strength allowed them to move their bodies, some weighing up to 3 tonnes, across the gravity drenched landscape with uncanny ease. The colonists knew little about their native antagonizers, and nobody ever suspected the Arrigians were anything more than dumb animals...

Geental Valley; Planet Arrig; Interous System

Director Chiterous listened to the crowd of Arrigians cheering him in unison. Stage one of his plan had worked like a charm, and now was the moment to set stage two in motion and earn his race a place among the stars.

"My brothers" He yelled in a voice that closely resembled nails on a chalkboard "For the last 600 years we have lived under the microscope of alien strangers. And we have performed for them, led them to believe we were stupid brutes not worth bothering. But today the charade ends!"

The cheering grew, and Chiterous waved his stinger for silence.

"We have prepared two fleets. One to secure and defend our home planet and star, and the other to explore the cosmos. Each of our ships was carefully constructed underground, away from the aliens watchful eyes. Each of our ships was built from their own high technology, reverse engineered to suit our needs. Each of our ships is capable of long range flights through hyperspace and faster than light comunication, so we may explore, research, and conquer at the speed of the stars themselves!"

The crowd stood in awe. The moment truly was theirs. Chiterous pulled out a communicator and spoke loudly for all Arrigians to hear.

"Arrigian Armed Forces Exploration Fleet One, you are cleared for take off and hyperspace entry. Godspeed."

No sooner had the director spoken than magnitude ten earthquakes rocked the planet as twenty massive ships pushed a quarter mile of dirt from above them to rise into the air and beyond. Then, without warning, each ship seemed to explode with radiant, colorful, energy as it launched itself into hyperspace. As soon as the glow subsided Chiterous again spoke into his communicator.

"Arrigian Armed Forces Defence Fleet One, you are cleared for take off. Your first mission is to board the alien space station and make our presence felt..."


Aboard the communications center of the Spyeye Corporation Interous System Station

Jezel couldn't belive the readings. Ships, launched for Arrig, capable of hyperspace travel. Their was no intelligent native life, or military bases on the god forsaken icy desert of a planet.

"Sir." The intern in charge of the monitor panels interrupted him. "Arrig has launched another fleet. They are headed in our direction."

Jezel's face drained of color. "Whats their ETA?"

"Two and a half minutes sir..."

Jezel began yelling furiously into his console

"This is the Spyeye Corporation Interous System Station. We are under attack from a massive space fleet originating from planet Arrig. Requesting any possible assistance."

Jezel's distress signal echoed across the universe for two hours before the Arrigians reached the communications center and turned it off.
