Valary sighed as she walked down the stairs, waching Ayden try to mop the floor. She was going to take it back from him, but changed her mind, realizing that he was trying to help. She sat on the couch and watched him mop. He looked like he was struggling a little. "You sure you don't want me to do it?"

Alex bolted up from his desk where he had fallen asleep. "The girl! Her parents!" He ran to his notes and sifted through them, picking up the girl's name. After a quick call to the precinct, he dialed the digits given to him by the operator, and waited patiently for someone to answer.

Valary's parents were already wondering where Valary was. She didn't bring her cell phone with her or leave them any messages. " Maybe we should call the poli-" Valary's mom was cut off by the phone ringing. When she saw that it was the police, she picked up the phone quickly. " Hello."

Ayden looked up at Valary, a weak smile forming itself across his lips. He shook his head, and turned his attention back down to the blood stains spattering themselves all of the carpet.

"I'm sure," he said, and continued to mop it up as best he could. "You've already done os much for me, anyways." He offered her a stronger smile this time, as his arms moved in the mechanical pattern he had developed, to get rid of the blood.

Alex smiled to himself. Score. "Hi there, my name is Alex, and I'm a detective for the local Police Department. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me about your daughter's habits and her whereabouts."

Valary's mom looked confused. " You know where my daughter is?" How did the police already know that she was missing. Did they find her. She was getting a really bad headache from her daughters absense.

Valary smiled back at Ayden. He looked either confused or sad, so she decided to try and get his mind off of whatever was making him upset. " You can smell blood, right? Or sense it?" she asked starring over at Ayden's confused-looking eyes.

Alex frowned. "Well, no. I don't know where she is. Is she missing? I was just calling to speak with you about a gentleman she had been seen with. Do you know anything about him? We're looking for any information you might have."

" No. I've never seen a boy with her before." she said quietly. " Why? Is she with him?" Valary's mom didn't have a clue about what was going on with her daughter. She just wanted to know where Valary was. Everything came so fast, she didn't even know what was going on. Tears started falling off her face.

"Uh, yes. We believe that she is, and we have reason to believe that he's quite dangerous. Should your daughter contact you, please make sure that you do not mention that you heard from me at all. And please, please, please call me immediately at 555-3836. Try to find out where she is, but don't put yourself in any danger about it. And if you two weren't on the best of terms, make sure that you're being careful." Alex frowned. Once again, a dead end. This woman knew less about her daughter than he did. "Do you know if Valary had any friends or confidants?"

Valary's mom quicly wrote down the number on a piece of paper she ripped out of a book. " ...Okay" she said slowly. She stayed quiet for a minute in thought of what friends she knew that Valary had. Nothing really. She had never taken the time to get to know Valary's friends...in fact, she never really took the time to get to know her daughter. She got so caght up in her work that she left no time for Valary. She started to cry at the thought of it. Then cleared her throat enough to talk. " I don't know any of Valary's friends. I don't have any idea where she could be! She told us that she was going to be over her friends house. I think I'm losing touchwith my daughter. The only place I've seen Valary is at this house and at our cottage. We've never really taken her out." she started to cry even harder.

Alex nodded and made a note in his notebook - Typical out of touch mom. "Okay, ma'am. Well, I need to ask if you can give me the address of both your home and your cottage. Also, please check with Valary's father and should any of her friends contact you, please try to find out if you can get any more information out of them."

Valary's mom sighed. " .Our house is on Bailey street and the house number is 14.the cottage is in Peterborough...Nelson road. The number of the cottage is 19.""She looked around the house nervouslyand wiped the tears from her face. "Is that all the information you need?" she said. Her voice sounded aweful.

"If that's all you can give me, then that's all I can ask for," he said, sighing softly. "Just keep an eye and an ear out and call me immediately if you hear from her. Thank you for your time." Alex hung up and sighed. Petersborough was a ways away. But he needed to go - it was the only lead he had. Sighing, he headed upstairs and began to pack a bag.

Valary's mom noddod as she listened to the man talk. "...okay." she said quickly and hung up the phone. She took a tissue and wiped off her face with it. All she could do now was hope that Valary was safe. She just wanted her daughter to come home as soon as she possibly could.

Alex trudged down the front steps and popped the trunk of his personal car, looking over to his work vehicle. Pursing his lips, he decided his decision was for the best. HQ would never approve the gas allowance for a trip taken on a hunch. Besides, his old Toyota got much better mileage than the Malibu. He climbed in, started the car, and popped a cd he had labeled "Road Trip Songs" into the player. As the car warmed up, he pulled a map from the glove box and followed the marks on the map. The trip wouldn't take too long, but he was wasting daylight. He threw the car in gear and began the drive to the cabin, stopping just outside town to gas up.

"Yeah." Ayden nodded. "We can sense it." He let out a long sigh as he continued to move the mop quickly, and looked over at her. "I think its, like, how sharks do it. Smell, or something?" He shrugged once more. "It's kind of hard to explain." He admitted as he looked down at the ground.

" Can you smell my blood?" she asked. She looked down at the ground that Ayden was mopping. It was still pretty messy. She pulled herself up, walked over to him and put her hand out for the mop. " Here, let me do it." she said laughing a little at his somewhat mopping skills. She tried to snatch it from his hands in case he said no.

Ayden shrugged. "Well, sort of." He looked over at her. "I mean, I can tell that you have blood. But that's a given, you know? It's kind of a useless sense." He let her take the mop and shrugged. "If you're sure you want to, you can." He stepped out of her way, and looked over at her with his arms folded over his torso. "But, unless you were bleeding, I wouldn't really smell it."
