My Sweet Lavinia

Sophie's eyes were red and puffy from all the crying that she had been doing. The shock had finally gone away and in it's place had come depression. The funeral of her best friend had been a few days ago. Since then she had barely left her apartment or answered her phone. Her mother had been begging her to get outside and do something. Anything besides locking herself away from the outside world. That was the only reason that Sophie had shed her pajamas, showered and tried making herself look halfway decent. Although all she had done was slip into a form fitting, plain black t-shirt and a pair of jeans that were ripped in the knees. Her somewhat damp hair was thrown up in a careless bun.She had no clue where she was supposed to go since she didn't have classes for the next few weeks. Where was she supposed to go? What was she supposed to do? She had cut herself off from the rest of her friends as soon as she had heard the news about Kacey.
Who would want to see her? The list was very small and she wasn't sure she would be very good company. Her car keys sat on the coffee table in her living room along with her purse. She snatched them up while walking towards the front door. At the same time she shrugged on an over sized sweatshirt that she had snagged from her best guy friend's closet months ago. He had yet to ask for it back and she wasn't exactly ready to give it up just yet. She pulled the zipper up, trudging towards her car and quickly getting in. Her hands were nearly shaking as she put the key into the ignition and started it up. Her fingers curled around the steering wheel and her eyes were focused on the windshield. After taking a few deep breaths she forced herself to put the car in reverse and backed out of the driveway. Even though she had no idea where she was going, she figured she would just drive until she arrived somewhere. It wasn't the best idea but at least it was an idea. It was something better then moping in her room all day as well.
After driving for about twenty minutes Sophie found herself parked in front of her best friend's house. She turned the car off and pocketed her keys. She had no idea if he even wanted to see her but figured it was worth a try. Her movements were slow as she walked up the front path and then the front steps. Her hand reaching out and her index finger pressing down on the doorbell.
