Another post up! We can have them stop by an inn and Gwyn can introduce herself properly (and maybe gain a little more of Faulkner's trust) before Faulkner spills a bit more on the Royal Court...

Did you know the etymology for the term 'bouncer?' Heehee.
Post up!

Is that so? I always thought it was just because they 'bounced' unsavory types from entering. You learn something new every day! Anyway, have posted! With some vague allusions to the backstory I'm trying to work out in my head.

I've made a vague reference to the 'Five Peoples' in my newest post. I was thinking that these might be a sort of semi-myth of five different groups of people rumoured to have different kinds of magical abilities and unusually long life-spans, perhaps all related to some legend of the descendants of mythical gods or something. I was thinking the Randulfr, the Gleda (Faulkner's people) and the Rangers could be three of them. The other two would be up for grabs. The Randulfr are clearly shape-shifters, the Gleda also have their own ability... As for the Rangers, I did have an idea- would you like to hear it? Or maybe you had something else in mind?

Oooh, I am intrigued!
I had some vague thoughts about Gwyn and the why of her apparent un-aging, but I'm very interested in this 'Five Peoples' bit. What did you have in mind? I had thought that maybe it was related to the curse--when the Rangers finally gave up and settled somewhere, they really assimilated, forgetting they had ever been Rangers at all. Gwyn refuses to do so, and somehow her clinging to that identity has kept her tied to Rowan Range, which is perhaps also in a state of limbo. The curse would also easily take the fine points of that identity away, however, leaving her clueless (as we've seen).

I was thinking that the Rangers might be gifted with the ability to foresee the future. Say, each Ranger will foretell one prophecy in their lifetime and there's no knowing when or where it will happen or who will be around to hear it (they might go into some kind of trance or something). It was a Ranger who came up with the prophecy we've heard about already and that Ranger might now be locked up in the castle whist the King tries to get his hands on Kit. That Ranger, when Gwyn meet him/her might also be able to tell her more about her past, perhaps?
As for the curse... I have some vague idea concerning another prophecy involving Meg's mother but it's all a bit hazy. Did you have an idea?

Hm...that is interesting...perhaps their second sight ability is enhanced or made more clear by living in nature (such as Rowan Range) which is why they were there? Maybe that would have something to do with a natural talent for archery--they can sort of 'see' where an arrow will land, or some such nonsense. And perhaps that's why the Ranger is locked up in the castle, to stifle the gift? Of course, if Gwyn did meet this guy/gal, as a result of the curse they wouldn't be able to communicate directly. Which could result in some hilarity.
As for the curse, I'd only had a limited idea about the Rangers posing some threat or rebellion against the king, but hadn't quite hashed out what they'd done (or were supposed to do) to deserve getting completely wiped out. Something to do with Meg's mother? Sounds plausible...I would be interested to hear more!

Perhaps not 'nature' as such but some intrinsic quality of the Rowan Range? Due to something that had happened there in the past?
Well, my vague idea was that one of the Rangers foretold that the king's wife would betray him and because he was so deeply in love with her, he refused to believe it and somehow managed to get them all cursed so they would never be able to see their loved-ones again. The how/who details of the curse are still a bit foggy, though. Perhaps it could be to do with one of the remaining two 'Peoples'?

Hm...there are possibilities for us to play with, here. I think that's a good skeleton, though. Maybe we can just flesh it out as we go.
And posted!
Not sure what to do with Egil--either to get him back to the castle so we can get Meg involved, or have him actively trying to track Kit and co.

It's up to you- actively having him track Kit etc. might be fun but if not, you could always have him lose the trail over the mountains and head back to the castle.
I'll try and get a post up tonight! And I should probably add the king in as a character...

Yeesh, sorry about the long wait. Work has been kicking my trash, but I think everything is leveling out again and I'll get something up tonight when I get home. Again, sorry about the wait. Ugh, life.

Don't worry! I've been exactly the same- real life comes first. I'll be posting on Noir tonight too! if you want to skip forward to the Pass then I'll initiate a bandit attack or similar.

Okay, it's up! I moved them forward a few days and stuck them in the pass. Prime targets for a bit of action via bandits or whatever it is you have up your sleeve :)

Me too!
Hey, do you listen to music when you write? I listen to SOOO (if you will forgive the Americanism) much music when I write.
For this particular game, I listen to Dougie MacLean's The Search, as well as Tva Fisk Och En Flask's Jungfruburen (rather hard to find, I stumbled across it in mega-clearance at a specialty shop :) ) as well as some music from Ashley MacIssac (in particular Wing-Stock).
Dum de dum...
