Can you explain the craymels to me a little more? Are they entities that you summon, like in the final fantasy games? Like Bahamut and Shiva? Or are they different?

Woah, that was a lot of questions in a row O.o

Pretty much. In the tales series, you always had to fight them or something in order to get one of them to agree with you to help you in your quest. However these could talk either physically or telepathically . I don't remember ever hearing one of the summons from any ff talk... then again I didn't play many.

Also each held an element that help kept something in place or guarded something that kept something else in place. In one instance, in one of the games, a summon spirit (here in the RP called craymels) was simply the overseer of the Great Kharlan Tree (what kept the planet flowing with mana), and another one in some game, guarded the Guinungaggap which in the game was, the gates of hell. But each of these could form a pact with a sentient being, most of the times with someone of special ability. I am not really sure if in the final fantasy games the summons were tied into the planet with some kind duty, and if anyone could just use them. i think those could be the differences, but basically they're the same thing.

I also want to give heads up that my next post will be kind of big. It'll look like I am writing a book, but I promise I won't do it again, after that I'll get into interaction mode. And I'll accept efreet; I can still get to use some nifty ideas I had when I created Ion.

I don't remember them being called Craymels in Tales of Symphonia, but the idea was the same thing. Though some of the summons also held power over the seals that kept the flow of mana going from one planet to the other.

In Final Fantasy, it really depended on the game. Some of the games had talking summons, some did not. Some of the games had set summoners, some did not. They've played with a lot of different ways to use then summons.

You write very well, so I don't mind a long post from you at all. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

They were called Craymels in Destiny 2 and I think in phantasia. From what I read on wiki the word Craymel might have come from crayon. <<

That sounds fine, Giygas.

Interesting Groups:
The Seekers; a group of religious fanatics who follow Gillian with complete faith in his word. They hope to one day awaken Martel and bring forth a new world order. Some have been reported to have summoning artes.
The Hidden Knowledge pact; known to be incredibly secretive. Especially when it comes to their research on magic and the moon. Although they wear their membership proudly in the open. Lily Dawnreaver is a current member.
The Secret Magic Sect; A small group of people who are currently focusing on magic and it's effects on our world today. One of the masters is Shimi, the owner of one of many bookshops in Marvirn.
Origin seekers; a group of realists who seek the truth! They believe in scientific evidence, PROOF in life and have been known to conduct many experiments on available test subjects. That includes

their OWN bodies as well.
Tech Cor; These people are responsible for many of Earth's advances from floating cities to robotic limbs to telephones. Of course you may not see their works in the smaller towns being as money talks. Miguel runs this group.

Cities, Towns, Kingdoms & ect:

The continent of Valen.
Marvirn; The famed port town known for it's merchants & thieves. This is where most of our role players start off at. The climate is usually wet causing some of the cargo to be damaged. Although this does not stop people from selling or buying.
Places of importance;
The Arena where Meiun spent most of his life fighting for his freedom.
The Bakery owned by Lyra Potter.
The Bookshop owned by Shimi.
The Alehouse owned by Lyre's foster father, Mackenzie.
One of many distracts of Valen's kingdom where everyone but you is invited. Within this area lies a Chateau signifying beauty & mone

Viorek Forest; A luscious green forest where many secrets lie hidden. This is where Maximillion first appears.

Oh neat, we've just got our own little world forming! Myrin, did you come up with these locations or are they from the tales series?

By the way, while I was looking at the wiki file under craymels, I saw that part about the word possibly coming from the word crayons, like you mentioned. That made me laugh a little. Now every time I hear about the craymels, I'm going to think 'crayola'.

LOL! XD I know but I love that damn word.

Actually I'm making up the places and taking in what you guys are giving me from your writing. This was originally a different RP with very few references to the Tales game and some planned out places to see but it died <<; blah I like this one better and I get to be mean >=3

I have considered adding in some cities from the game but I dunno if we should take too much from them. XD I mean Hostile's character inspired me to add a few more known groups for us to play with.

This is our story, so we add or take away things we like or dislike. I'm just being lazy which is why it's taking so long to put stuff up. ^^;

Oh and the order I'm posting stuff in does not mean we have to follow it. <<;

..::Alocar ::..

Name: Alocar
Age: Unknown
Sex: Male
Height/Weight: 6'8"/254 LBS [Includes armour]

Alliance: ~Depends on his ‘master’~ [Evil]

Class: Black Knight
Theme: Sonata Arctica - The Cage

Appearance: His armour protects every aspect of his body, there isn’t a hint of actual ‘body’ left to be seen or attacked through his armour. (I realize the armour in the picture is strapped to a body, but consider Alocar’s armour to be more of an actual ‘suit’ of armour then something that’d be strapped to a body on one side.)
His broadsword is usually on his back in a sheath in between his cape and armour, the hilt visible above his left shoulder.

Armour and Weapons: His armour is crafted to near legendary standards, able to take quite a beating while keeping the mobility of its user as high as possible. Thanks to a magical enchantment on his armour, the effects of magical spells are lowered, but at the same time, Alocar is unable to use magic like a mage/sorcerer would.
Magicks prevent his armour from rusting and eroding, making any ‘maintenance’ jobs unnecessary.
Advanced miniature hydraulics assist his ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and shoulders to keep his mobility as high as possible.

Alocar’s broadsword is a piece of advanced technology combined with ancient magic. The three green gems in his sword are used for storing ‘mana’ or ‘magical energy’ to assist him in casting spells should the need arise. His sword is able to ‘drain’ mana from others but only upon physical contact. The amount drained depends on the physical contact, so would a quick cut drain little but a full stab drain more and faster the longer it remains to be connected.
His sword has a ‘second mode’ which creates a ‘chainsaw’ effect around the edges of his sword, making it able to cut through armour with much more ease and deal more damage while at the same time making it more heavy and less maneuverable.

Personality: Calm, calculating and a hardened battle veteran. Not at all sympathetic and cares little for the life of others. Will often put on a farce in order to achieve his goal, be that his own or that of his ‘master’. His battle experiences have taught him much about battle and war and this not only makes him a skilled swordfighter but also a good tactician.

History:
Alocar signed a contract to preserve his own life, for what reasons is something that has been lost through ages past. A powerful sorcerer gave him the contract, promising him eternal life in exchange for his services as a swordfighter.

The contract granted him eternal life, in exchange for his services. Little did Alocar know at that time, that it would bind his soul to a suit of armour, and the contract would force him to obey whoever signs the contract with their own blood.

When the sorcerer was killed, Alocar was not in the vicinity and unable to release himself from its clutches. And so the contract passed from the Assassin, to an owner on the black market, and the black market sold it to new owners, where it went from one owner to the other. Not every owner believed what was written on the contract and kept it as a trophy, others eagerly signed it with their own blood. And each time somebody did, Alocar was compelled to travel to his new master, aware of their presence the moment they signed the contract.

Extra's:

- Soulless armour
His armour is -without a body-, it's an armour that houses a soul in it, nothing more. As such, there are no real 'vital' spots to hit. The seals hold the armour intact and the soul in place, should the seals be destroyed then so shall the soul inside.

- Seals:
Seals are required to keep a soul actually 'bound' to a specific place. Having it bound to an object yet making it able to move requires magic of an even higher level and as such, a combination of different elements.
The Earth elements, Water, Fire, Wind and Light are inscribed into the front of his armour on different places.
Fire on the front of the left shoulder pad, and Water on the right one.
Wind is engraved in to the center of his chest.
Light is engraved on to the back of his left hand.
The Moon elements, Earth, Lightning, Ice and Shadow are inscribed on the back of his armour, save for Earth, which is engraved onto the back of his right hand.
Lightning on the back of his left shoulder pad, Ice on to the other.
Shadow is engraved is engraved on his back, in the center.

- Contract:
The contract forces Alocar to obey any order given that does not -directly- involve either hurting his 'master' or his own destruction. The one who signs the contract with his/her own blood becomes his master until death, after which the contract returns to a normal piece of parchment with nothing but instructions on it.
The contract makes Alocar aware of 'master' and vital status at all times. Though not as accurate as being able to predict how much time he has left when fatally wounded, he can tell when in danger, hurt or dying.
The contract itself enables several methods of relaying orders to Alocar.

The contract has a curse which the original owner cast before his death. The curse will make the new owner (one who has signed it with blood) be a magnet for the cruelty of fate. Small things such as tripping over a rock and falling onto something sharp, shall be common. The longer this curse lasts, the bigger the build up and the bigger and more threatening things will become.
Wether or not this curse can somehow be broken, is unknown to Alocar and he cares not. He finds it rather convenient for the death of his masters.

Changes:
13th of January - Added the 'Extra' category and its contents. || Added a Theme
14th of January - Added the curse

-=-=-=-=-=-

So, I basically need somebody to be my 'master' right now. Any volunteers? :P I thought Gillian would be a nice one, but .. who knows -shrug-.
And, yea, I stole the layout for the character profile, it looked good ^_^;
Time for me to start reading up on the IC thread, seems there's a whole new page XD

Name: Count Alaric Von Roswell
Alias: Lord Roswell
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Theme Song: Death Under the Red Moon: Roswell Sortie
Hometown: Yuleri
Position: An overlord to the small Province of Yuleri, a ravine with 3 deeply-interconnected villages.
Species: Human
Appearence: [x]
Equipment:
Head: Gray Wallace Beret
Torso: Black Rose Bellum's Silk Doublet
Arms: Black Rose Bellum's Silk Sleevings
Hands: Ira's Silk Mangraves
Legs: Black Rose Bellum's Silk Leggings
Feet: Gilded Silver Shoes
Accessory1: Black Rose Insignia and Vanguard Thorns
Accessory2: Incarnadine Red Skull Half-Pauldron
Armament: The Skull of DelMarcis (Staff)
Class: Necromancer
Skills:
[Summoning and Enchantment]
-Mass Resurrection: Using dead bodies or bodies buried within, Roswell is able to raise Skeletons from a Dead body. The skeletons are very, very weak and can be killed just by kicking them down. However,Roswell can raise a large amount of Skeletons at one time. Skeletons are very susceptible to Physical and Magical attacks, but can be destroyed en masse with area of effect magic.
-Raise Corpse: Taking from the true nature of Necromancy, Roswell raises a Dead corpse into a mindless zombie. Zombies have higher vitality and takes less damage from Material weapons, but takes heavier damage from Magic spells. Roswell can raise a smaller amount of Zombies at one time.
-Robe of Flesh: Roswell exploits the misery of the Souls trapped within himself and his staff, using their loathing and hatred to flay the flesh from freshly slain enemies and enrobe them upon a group of skeletons, turning them into Ghouls. Ghouls are much smarter and can take orders from others, and can enter into a frenzy when ordered by Roswell. They attack with wicked claws, but die out after their Frenzy.
-Essence of Corruption: Roswell converts Souls into the very essence of Chaos, turning a group of Zombies into Revenants. Revenants have increased resistance to magic but less resistance to Physical attacks.
[Offensive Dark/Chaos Magics]
-Dark Sphere: Roswell charges a ball of darkness and discharges it towards his enemies. Deals minor Chaos/Dark attribute damage.
-Phantom Lance: Roswell focuses dark matter into a fine point, creating a spear of Darkness. Deals Chaos/Dark attribute damage.
[Soul Keeping and Supplements]
-Earth's Lament: Upon making a pact with the earth, Roswell can raise the bodies of those who have died long, long ago, supplying him with nearly infinite bodies to raise. The bodies can be used even if they have decayed through time.
-Soul Assumption: The souls of any slain enemies can be absorbed by Roswell himself. He can store only 25 Souls inside of him.
-Phylactery: Roswell's masterful knowledge of souls allows him to trap his enemy's souls within his Staff, allowing him to store extra souls within inanimate objects. Allows him to store another 75 souls to his staff.
-Phylactery Ward: Roswell plants a ward enchanted with olden words of respite, passively reroutes the recently slain soul's intended destination from the Afterlife to Roswell himself or his Staff
[Ultimate Skills]
-Shallow Grave: Roswell releases the tortured spirits within his staff, rushing ahead of him in a cone formation. Just the desperation of the soul from their untimely liberation creates a massive concentration of loathing and negative energy, deteriorating any living beings that they pass through. The more mana flowing within the body of the target, the greater damage is inflicted. The more souls released, the wider the cone's area in front of him.
-Necrogate: Upon sacrificing the souls within his staff, Roswell reverses the equilibrium of elements, allowing him to summon a large Gothic gate that leads to the Netherworld. The gate continually spawns skeletons at even intervals. The Necrogate continually spawns Skeletons until it is destroyed.
-Forced Soul Assumption: By reversing the flow of Soul energy, Roswell forcefully takes the soul of his enemies, while turning their mortal bodies into decaying corpses. Turns all generic enemies or NPCs in an area into lesser Zombies but decays at an accelerated rate until they become lifeless skeletons.
-Sonata of the Damned: The lament of Souls trapped within his Staff cry out, creating a massive well of misery that corrupts his enemies. Creates a large field that painfully flays the flesh of generic enemies or NPCs, turning them into skeletons under his control .The more souls collected, the larger the radius.
History: While some people might argue that Life is priceless, tell that to Roswell and he would think the latter comment as the greatest joke anyone could ever tell. Feared as a tyrannical Overlord of Yuleri, it is all too common to see an expansive pile of bones or ominous totems that dot the once-fertile lands of the Yuleri Ravine. Raised here as a once-humble Farmer's child, the young Roswell, out of respite for a death of a loved one that was never avenged, turned to the Forbidden Artes in a desperate whim to resurrect his childhood sweetheart. However, in exchange for a lifeless being which acted only as a hollow doll, Roswell was more than obliged to give up his Soul to the service of the wandering Peddler. Deeming the Community around him unworthy of his skills, with his natural affinity for the darkness, Roswell overran the villages within a tide of broken bones, enslaving the masses through force. He established a set of rumors that were designed to instill fear to his subjects, which in turn, theoretically, prevented them from rebelling. Despite the very few infractions many people are harshly punished for, Roswell lives in relative peace, forbidding contact with the outside world under the penalty of death.
Personality: "The Weak exist only to serve the Strong!" pretty much compiles his attitude in one simple sentence. Arrogant, narcissistic, cruel and unforgiving, Roswell makes up your typical Villain, one that you would read out from a story book. Fancying himself a feudalistic lord, Roswell has a superiority complex that makes dictators look like nuns running a charity. And his attire can testify best to this: wearing velour embroidered with silk, all kept in a long fur mantle. Upon his chest lay the Family Crest of the Roswell Family; a Golden insignia with a hand-crafted rose, even everything is hardly enough for Roswell. He speaks in a tongue laced with the most potent of insults and sarcasm.
Other: Call him a Necrophiliac and you're dead.
Your Pain is not my Pain,
It is my Fulfillment.

There, I removed a lot of things that I thought it looked like post fodder yesterday. I also revise it three times, but I will definitely have errors there lol. I will add more details to the "history" part of Ion's bio today. I am gonna start interacting now and try to stop the longish posts for more frequent ones, cause everyone else is averaging three posts more than me :P xept for the ones that are in process.

I know Ponats! XD I'm gonna figure out a way to make bonds with the Craymels.

*luffles Hostile*

Oermin; The city of sand who keeps it traditional by mining resources and refining their Blacksmith trade.
Places of importance:
The Oasis is the city's main source of water. Here is where a few important scenes may take place.
Methien Caves; This is where the Oermin people come to mine on a daily basis. The caves go deep into the earth where some have claimed to see walking fire.

Kali Forest; A forest as old as the planet itself. Many of the people avoid this place for they consider it a haunted due to the fact that those who enter are never seen again.

Argyra Peak Village; A small village hidden in the mountains surrounded by a forest.
Places of importance:
Argyros Shrine; The Shrine has recently beened robbed recently for unknown reasons. The Elder has sent Ion on a very important mission.

Falt'thien Castle; This is where Edward and his Wife live. Of course they have been known to travel from city to city depending on the weather. From a far one would assume the castle is made of crystal due to the walls being so white. Many of the nobles are clean freaks and will become enraged at the slightest piece of dirt.

Kratea Divide~ The dark ocean between Valen and Jineer.

Eastern continent Jineer:

Western continent Ja'quin:
Tramenie Woods; An unexplored forest.

Northern continent Crucia:

Ashmeil Ruins; A deserted place. This is where the Gate to the Moon once stood.

Other places we've gotta place:

Karlyle; Lily's hometown.

Sirenia; A kingdom on an Island. The home of Gillian.

Pon'iel; The floating isle in the sky. This place was built by technology where the rich live and prosper. They look down on those still left below and hope to one day return to the moon. Their 'true' home.

Hillpoint Churches; These were started up by Gillian and are located all over the planet. They are finally starting to reach Valen due to Gillian's pillgramage.

When I think of more places I'll add them in. << *melts*

Re: Tales of Eternity: OOC ( )

Postby Mid on Sun Jan 11, 2009 7:44 pm

A few sub/plot ideas for us to discuss.

The main plot is for us to discover the truth behind the great war and find a way to bring peace between both planets.

Yay! We'll be saving lives!

Now for the fun stuff. In every true RPG game, there is always a haunted castle or ship. One of my favorite parts of playing these games! Now if we were to have a haunted castle, well it can be something like this?

A small kingdom was destroyed by a fire a hundred years past. Yet they seemed to have continued 'living' on as if nothing ever occured. The princess sits in her room complaining about her looks (to a mirror that doesn't exist) and why her prince has never returned while her father sleeps the day away and the rest of the people do daily things. No matter how many times we tell them that they are dead they fail to understand. The only way to get them to accept the truth is to show them their reflection in a mirror.

Or the ghost ship. Every nine years a ship has been said to appear within the depths of the Kratea Divide. They say the spirit of the fierce Captain Smeed stalks the deck in furry. Waiting for something that seemed to have never arrived. For eventually a sea serpent swallowed his ship whole. What could he have been waiting for? Well, this was a pirate who did good things in a bad way. He was waiting on cargo to bring back to straving oprhans. Unfortunately, the men he dealt with double crossed him and never came as promised. Confused, the man returns in hopes of keeping his promise.

In Tales of Vesperia they had a haunted Town that reappeared every once in a while. They had no idea they had died and I loved the idea.

Of course there is going to be some disagreements between our little Guilds. One of our main problems will be Tech Cor for they seem to be developing a means to open the gate to the Moon under an unknown person's orders. They plan on taking over and removing Magic completely. This will probably start a big fight between everyone. Yay for fights!

The Origin Seekers hope to one day become a part of the "ancients." They believe that the true human lies in a fossil they uncovered. A fossil belonging to a moon person. They've been conducting experiments on whatever they get their hands on. Yet they seem to be getting closer to their goal. The only question is, whose giving them the money to continue?

When bonding with a Craymel, maybe we could do a kind of blood bond? Just a simple prick from one person to one Craymel? And of course some kind of fancy words like, "I, name here, hereby bind myself with you oh Great Craymel of water and life. Undine! Grant me your power to protect those I love!" or something fancy like that.

And if we wanna take it a step further how about binding physically with a Craymel during an important fight? You and your Craymel together will bond physically & mentally. That would mean an altered appearance for a while and maybe you'd see pieces of the Craymel's history from time to time? You'd be mentally linked to them of course and they'd always protect you.

In Kali forest, we'll be running into quite a nice and long fight. That could be our next destination if ya'll want?

I'm thinking of bringing in my troublesome thief character since we don't have one. She won't be in the group really but she'd be a pain in the ass for us at the wrong time. Her name is Constance and she'll constantly get in the way. She is attracted to shiny things and extremely loud. Not at all stealthy for a thief but she attempts to play it off when caught. We'll find out later the real reason as to why she is stalking us!

Hmmm... Edward is trying to create an empire so he's sending out his army to take over other spots in the world and is also attempting to have the Guilds on his team.

We can stumble on to a usually invisible village where a blind man tells us a bit about our history.

I dunno, something to think about for now. *faints*

Ooh, I really liked the thing about the kingdom where they don't realize they're dead. That sounds neat. I also am totally for whatever you want to do with the crayons, I mean, craymels. :) What do you mean their appearance will be altered? Oh, and I'm all sorts of down with the bloodletting. There simply isn't enough bloodletting in roleplay, if you ask me. And never enough magic. In fact, I'm kind of sad that my character doesn't know how to do magic, but what can you do?

I'm excited about coming upon a bit of plot, but I don't see how all of our characters are going to come together to achieve something. I guess I'll just have to sit back and have faith.

Well with a Craymel you'd be able to use magic of their element. =p

Appearence binding like maybe you'll get their hair/skin color or different clothes & share a weapon. I think it'd be up to you all as to how you'd look. It would also last for about three to four post before you and the Craymel become separate again.

What's gonna bring everyone together is the thirst for adventure. We'll all have our personal goals. From what I see Lily looks at Elisha like an untouched piece of history & she wants to find out about magic. Meiun wants to escape his past, Lyra knows nothing of the world and Lyre is looking for his father. Ion seems to be seacrhing for himself and Elisha seeks peace. So we're all seacrhing for that little something that will bring it all together.
