I'm intrigued as to the rules saying "no explicit sex" - how COULD you have sex with a mermaid???????? Think about it...

And mermaids can have sex... with each other. Dolphins can have sex with each other, ne~? It only makes sense...
But keep in mind that there are also a male and female HUMAN involved, and I am not governing how relationships turn out.

Many thanks to Irish Wolf re the highly useful instructions on how to keep a mermaid happy and fulfilled :) - of course, I am fully aware that sexual satisfaction need not compulsorily involve penetration, and my question was meant flippantly - referencing the similarly facetious question of how Daleks cope with stairs! Interaction of the kind enjoyed by Nelly would, of course, fit the bill.

If one does address the question seriously, however, the fellatio will not do! The thing is, sex, while pleasant in itself, is also a means towards reproduction, and it may be assumed that any humanoid creature capable of having sexual intercourse will be sexually reproducing. Now, a mermaid is not a human-dolphin hybrid, she is a human-fish hybrid, so the dolphin theory doesn't really wash! For that matter, they have evolved the ability to lure human prey for reproductive purposes (by singing a siren song), so presumably they have evolved a life-cycle that requires human genetic input. If they were simply a species alone, they would reproduce something like fish, and the young would be delivered either live or by eggs that subsequently become fertilized by the merman.

Exactly how Everscale will design her legendary mermaids has not yet been revealed - maybe she will leave out the "siren song" part of the mythology, and have mermaids simply a species that keep to themselves. This is course will not be revealed to me (I am applying for the role of the scientist), but presumably the appropriate players will know by now. However, since they have human upper-halves, it can be logically assumed that they want to attract humans. This may, of course, be a case of "advertising without delivering", ie they lure the sex-starved sailors with the promise of sex that will never be fulfilled, wanting their human victims for other purposes.

However, should a human and mermaid form a mutual attraction, I suppose one can assume a mermaid possesses a clocoa, for reproductive purposes, and this may figure in the doings somewhere - but I guess that's more information than anyone really wants to consider :)

I have a correction for you - this is something that could be discovered upon first glimpse of the marfolk. They are not hybrids at all, but a fully-mammalian and fully individual species. They would be incapable of reproducing with any creature other than another merperson. They are not scaled or fishlike, but in fact have tails like a dolphin's, though longer and more flexible like the classical mermaid. They are purely scientific creatures, with no magic involved, in this case.

Unfortunately a few curious google searches on the topic brought me only to re-learn that there is no exception to Rule 34...

So in this universe, mermaids are not the creatures of accepted legend, but have a number of traits peculiar to this RP... Tony, of course, will have to discover this for himself, and and may well be led astray by what he "knows" about the species from reading books.

It occurs to me there shuold really be a director of the institute, whom Leah and Tony have to fight to get a decent deal for Kefer and Merin - maybe your friend would like to fill that role.
