Denny smiled and turned back to the road, waiting for the traffic to pass. He groaned in annoyance at the numerous cars in front of him. He opened his car window and peered his head out to see what had happened. An accident, perhaps. He couldn't see it as it was too far off. He sighed, got back inside and rolled up the window.
"Jordan?" Janie called in a small voice. "What are you going to tell mom?"
Denny sighed and gave her a pat.
"I don't know, Janie. I don't know." he said in a weak voice. He gave her a kiss on the forehead before he turned back to the road.
An hour passed and the traffic cleared up, Denny finding out that some guy had just collapsed on the road because he was too drunk to drive. While he drove past the man who was being handcuffed, he flipped him off. And they finally reached Haylee's house after some time on the road. He parked in the driveway, got out of the car to help Janie get out as well, and went over to Haylee's side to carry her to her room, or at least the sofa. He didn't know much about what the house looked like, but he knew it had to be the one that looked like a teenager's room, and one that wasn't so empty. He stepped onto the porch, opened the door and went inside. He walked up the stairs to the second floor, and looked through all the rooms (some were just furnished, but didn't seem to be occupied) until he stumbled upon Haylee's room. He set her gently on the bed and pulled the sheets over her so that she was comfortable. He and Janie sat on opposite sides of the bed, watching closely as she slept.
