The Aschen Confederation of Planets

Official Statement.

The broadcast would soon come over or become available to people in Wing City, and people all across the Confederation. It showed a woman in a rather smooth, sleek looking outfit holding an advanced looking microphone. A Logo at the bottom would show 'Live' and behind the woman would be a battered and destroyed city, heavy machinery and construction crews working tirelessly to clean up and rebuild the shattered city.

"I'm Tera Corbis, with the Sagittaron News Network, and I'm reporting live from Sagittaron, capital of the Confederation, and heart of the Sagittaria prefecture. You see here that construction efforts are quite underway, ever since the Ori attack the people have been steeled to rebuild their city. You see here the remains of the Sagittaron Opera house, which is steadily undergoing construction. Above me you see Airships assisting with reconstruction crews, a city that was knocked down by the Ori, rising yet again from the ashes."

The woman then allowed the camera to pan over the city, revealing it's destruction and it's reconstruction.

"This is Tera Corbis reporting live, Sagittaron." The woman said before it shifted to the news anchors.

The Screen would then shift to reveal two men sitting at an ultra-modern looking desk

"In other news, there are rumors that the Aschen Confederation is contemplating pulling out of Terra to strengthen it's defenses, right here on the homeland. There has been mixed reactions to such an action, but the President and Parliament has assured us that there will be a continued presence on Terra as long as there is Trinnium to be found, and that the Confederation will not be intimidated by religious hooligans, and will respond with force if he is forced to make that decision."

"Furthermore, the President has wished to address several charges that other factions in this galaxy has made against the Confederation, from baseless accusations of heinous acts against Civilians, To baseless claims that Terra is not a confederation world. Such tomfoolery won't you agree Erik?" The other Anchor chuckled lightheartedly. "The President, Richard Adar has also answered to these charges with the following statement.

Enemies of the Confederation show no mercy in their attempts to threaten and intimidate our great nation. Heed this as a warning to anyone who threatens us, if you are to take military action against our people -- of any kind, we will respond in kind and swiftly deal with any threats against the Confederation.

"Such bravery wouldn't you agree Merrin?" The one would ask as the other nodded. "Sure thing Erik... and now" He then faced the camera.

"This Newscast is brought to you by the Aschen High Space Command - Enlist today, and fight em till we can't. This has been a Sagittaron News Network Newscast."

A Dark Dawn.

Red Halos man -- shootin' shit and gettin' paid, y'know? Haha -- Oh shit, we're own."

"Man you're a fuckin' idiot. Why Zharkov hires you Rohkan fucks I don't know why."

"Fuck you man, that's my family; and it wasn't Zharkov that hired us Rohkans, it was Khariq -- because he needed real people to get a job done."

"Fuck you, flip the switch and put on Zharkov."

The audio feed begins with a single wavelength monitor across the screen; background noises and any audio stimulation cause the small amplifier to vibrate up and down as a deep voice begins speaking. Anyone in Wing City could recognize the voice that had been broadcasted from small radios throughout the entire city. Nikita Zharkov.

"I would first like to say hello to the Confederation; I'm sure you know of me by now, I am a man named Zharkov. I know who you are, also. You, standing there in the yellow jumpsuit -- You are a member of the Aschen Confederation, do not act surprised, your reputation proceeds you ...

Zharkov inhales deeply, his voice a ruined growl filled with anger and despise as he breathes out once again. It is easy to tell that he is currently smoking. The audio monitor fluctuates lightly as the microphone is moved.

"Your reputation as an arrogant and childish faction has spread throughout the galaxy -- and my ears catch everything. Your squabble with the Ori and your 'incident' with Coalition Orbital Drop Infantry. Your disregard for innocents and the property of their own homes; you remind me of something, a bug. Like a small insect that enters the home of another and digs its toxic roots of imperialism deep within the marrow of this planet. The Confederation is a parasite, blinded by its own impurities and clinging to this planet like a wounded dog hungering for its last meal.

Your arrogance has caused an upheaval among your neighbors, a distrust to form in their halls of leadership and across the stars where their vessels sail through the expanse. It is your arrogance that has turned this planet against you slowly -- your assumption that because you own nothing more than a simple miner's ax or shovel that you are at liberty to send the tracks of your tanks or the boots of your soldiers down these streets that has turned them against you.

Stay here and what shall you hear? You shall hear my voice; my voice displaying these people's hatred for you.

Stay here and what shall be done? We shall throw steel and fire and death.

Stay here and where shall you be? You shall be at the bottom of a shallow grave.

The audio monitor jumps up with an increase of activity. The crack of a chair falling over can be heard as a window is broken, several quick shouts come from people across the room as the microphone is dragged away -- shouting, this time louder and stronger, is heard as well. Seconds later, the voice of Al-Majir Khariq is heard.

"These people have coerced you into a false Confederacy of fools and blinded men -- What shall you do now?!"

The sound of a gunshot rings through the monitor, followed by an uproar of voices.

"Rise!"

"Your world is at an impasse -- stand aside and watch the treads of these imperialist bastards beat your homeland into submission or step to the sound of your own voices, of your own hearts -- what shall we do?"

"Rise!"

"Then let them know this -- let them know that their weapons will fail them on your streets. Let them know that their tanks will become metal coffins in our cities. Let them know that their planes will do nothing but scatter the ground with metal in the skies of your planet. You know what you must do!

"Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise!"

The sound of a door closing is heard and silence washes over the monitor for thirty seconds until a soft smirk is heard.

"We are not done yet, Khariq."

"Are we ever, Zharkov?"

"Nikolai -- you know the plan. Begin Dark Dawn."

"Affirmative"

Bad Time For A Vacation? Cryoface Takes A Hiatus

*The camera pans in while the introduction theme plays. The gentleman on the right, looking to be wearing a black spiked collar around his neck to accentuate his otherwise business-like attire, straightens some papers on the desk before looking at the lens...or the teleprompter, as the case may be.*

"Good evening, Wing City. I'm Alfred Koholik. Tonight's top story: The storied establishment Gambit's Bar is no stranger to controversy, but when the going gets tough, are the tough skipping town? Rachel Wright, formerly of Multiversal News Now, is on-site at the bar. Rachel?"

*The camera cuts to Rachel showing far less skin than usual, which is excusable when you consider that she's standing out in the cold and snow of Main Street at night in the wintertime.*

"Thanks, Al. Well, even for the denizens of the bar, it was no ordinary day as not one, but two members of the bar staff were singled out for battle. First, it was one of the waitresses slash healers who goes by Kisa being targeted by a man identified as "Beryl". Gambit's venerable bouncer Cryoface came out to try to resolve the situation, but soon found himself in hot water as more fighters were attracted to the scene, including the herald of Dolmeena himself, Blackjack.

*Cut to a montage of grainy security video footage with Rachel's voice-over showing the attack on Kisa and the resultant race to either protect her or finish her off.*

"It started with a golden orb exploding in a gaseous attack that seemed to affect Kisa's mind to the point that she was deathly afraid of her former friends. A running battle ensued with her life at stake that spanned the bar and beyond, and Blackjack showed up to take Kisa hostage. According to a statement Cryoface made to the police, he was offered a choice between loyalty to Blackjack or Kisa's death. Choosing instead to stand his ground, he tried employing negotiation tactics when a friend of Kisa's intervened. The waitress managed to escape, but the friend was accidentally caught in Cryoface's spell. Afterwards, he initiated a full lockdown, and Motoko Attenborough showed up soon after to resolve the ugly situation. We go now live to a press conference where Motoko herself addresses some tough questions regarding the temporary absence of a staple member of her staff..."

“Hello everyone,” she said, before looking at a reporter.
“Is it true that Cryo’s snapped and is going on a permanent leave?” The woman smiled, before answering that question, “No, he’s just taking a long overdue vacation, that’s all,” she said, as another reporter started, “Is it true that you haven’t been in the bar as much,” Motoko raised her hand, “Honestly yes, raising kids does that to you, however don’t worry, I haven’t left Gambit’s!”
Another reporter started, “IS it true that you plan on hiring more people for the rush shift,” Motoko nodded, “Yes I am, so if you need a job and are tough, or cute, come on down to Gambits during Primetime OOC: 8-11 PM EST and ask for Motoko! Yet another one of the many reporters asked “With this new person, who wants to threaten gambits, what do you think of him?” Now that question seemed to stump the ace, before an answer came out. “I think they are bold, but not smart. Threatening people who have worked so hard to make people happy… I don’t like that at all, and I’ll have to deal with it as soon as I can!” Motoko nodded, as she looked for more reporters to answer questions, ready to go as soon as the questions came flying down.

Tech Con News Network

The screen floats about, to reveal two men sitting at a ultra modern looking desk.

"Hi I'm Merrin Telsek with the Tech Con News Network, and I have a startling announcement to make." The lead anchor would say as the camera focused on him.

"A Deal has just been announced that Miles Hagan, Owner, founder and CEO of Tech Con just purchased a majority of Gambit's Bar for 2 Billion cubits, the future this has on the bar is uncertain, but one thing is for sure, it is a bold move for Tech Con."

The screen changes to show Miles Hagan and Motoko Attenborough shaking hands after the deal is concluded. Then it shifts back to the anchors.

"Tech Con is also adopting a safety first policy with the fighting going on at Gambits, vowing to have Tech Con clamp down on any conflicts, new assets will be available to Gambits, such as the Centurion, as well as various other units." The Anchor explained.

"This is Merrin Telsek, Tech Con breaking news."

At the moment no names can be given. The only information that was delivered via a live telecast, from WCED is the following:

“We would like to welcome a new division to our vastly expanding Enforcement Division. This new division will be dedicated to keeping the streets of our city cleaner than ever before. Due to the nature of this team and what they need to do, we can give no further information about them; or their large task at hand.”

Despite our many attempts to gather more information about this new team, we cannot bring you any other information at this time.
Sundown to sunrise worlds spin above our heads, and all we see are the faint flicker of light that provides them life from times long past.

We are the ones who made the site what it is today.

It is our fault.
It is our mistake to fix."

Poll Shows No One Feels Safe in Wing City ( )

Postby Patcharoo on Thu Mar 11, 2010 7:47 am

-The screen flickers as a non-standard broadcast interrupts the shows. An unseen narrator speaks as scenes of destroyed and damaged buildings of wing city are shown-

A recent poll has shown that a majority of the people in the bar would trust their own skills, weapons and magics to protect themselves from the threats of Wing City, especially that of Gambit's Bar, then they would any of the so called protectors.

After a firefight broke out today involving Red Halo Mercenaries and Tech Con, the Coalition arrived to clean up the mess. While Tech Con was involved with their battle, another person rose up to fight off a killer robot, one of many that frequent the bar.

"Yeah, it's just not safe here anymore. Most of us just come here to meet people, we don't want to see gun fights right outside, especially not with explosives and lasers. People could get caught in the crossfire and die from that sort of battle."

Most reporters also now avoid the bar, deeming it not worth their life getting a good story. The reporter who was present at the time just happened to be dropping off a parcel for his friend when the fighting broke out.

"Maybe if there was a better way to get people to fight somewhere else, then everyone would feel safe. Isn't there an unused arena or something?" suggested one person.

But until that day comes, Wing City will always be a city of fear.

-The screen flickers and goes back to it's normal programming as if there had never been the broadcast at all-
Circ wrote:When I first joined RolePlayGateway, it was a place where positive conflict fostered creativity and friendships were formed rather than cliques. Honesty and transparency were valued, new people were incorporated into the community rather than judged based on what style of writing they preferred, and despite the youthfulness and zeal of the population there prevailed a reasonable degree of common sense.

*The camera shows only static before a wavering image can be made out. Shouting is heard above the static, knobs are adjusted, and eventually a fuzzy but stable picture can be seen before someone off-screen shouts something about it being as good as they're likely to get. Shrugging, the young, blonde, and attractive newscaster, whose shirt resembles an armored corset, begins talking into the transmitter.*

"Hello, and welcome to Wing City Action News; I'm Lexi Cummings. In an unexpected move today, the ruling body of the previously little-known Barosian Empire has agreed to allow the Galaxy Railway to expand their already impressive list of destinations to their capital city of Marotus. Here at a press conference, Crown Prince Vemarius makes a statement on behalf of his father, King Leodarius the Fifth, who was unavailable for comment."

*Unlike the last transition, the movement from the studio, where sharp-eyed viewers can swear they can make out various pieces of BDSM gear despite the blurry image, is crisp and clear. A heavily muscled chrome dome of a man wearing a golden-yellow suit of form-fitting armor takes the podium, the emblem of a stylized crown emblazoned across its broad chest.*

"We are thrilled to open our gates to those that wish to experience the splendors of our home world firsthand. Through this offer, we hope to develop an increased sense of community with other civilizations in the known 'verse: Our neighbors' boom times are now chances for us to benefit as well from their good fortune, and their difficult times are now opportunities for us to share our resolve with those that cannot find it within themselves. To our new neighbors: Our strength is now your strength, and your burdens are ours to help you bear. Together, may we progress forever forward!"

*The transition back to the studio is as problematic and blurry as it was at the start of the broadcast. Eventually, they get it working again.*

Lexi shuffles the papers in her hands, looking a little flustered as she tries to remember her place. Finally, she seems to remember. "Ah, here we go. In other news, Gambit's Bar has been reconstructed again, though some citizens of Wing City are concerned about the general public's lack of access to the rafters in the new design..."
The only people that extol the virtues of war are those that calculate its cost in material things.

Wing City Rumor Watch on the Artifacts ( )

Wing City Rumor Watch:
Image
What are the Artifacts?

In front of Gambit's Bar, the report, a perky 20-something woman with a stylish haircut and business suit stands, microphone in hand. She smiling brightly, and next to her stands the bartender of Gambit's recognizable to any of the patrons.

"Hello! I'm Sandy Day, here with the bartender of Wing City's world famous Gambit's Bar!" She says, smiling brightly to the camera. "We're here to find the facts on one of the more disturbing rumors floating about Wing City." She pause again, shooting the camera another smile, before turning to face the bartender. "Tell me Mr. Bartender, have you heard anything about Artifacts? We hear that's the latest buzzword on the street."

The bartender smiles politely and nods. "Yes Miss Day, I have. I don't rightly know what they are, but as far as I can tell there are several very powerful men and women all on the look out for them. And they seem willing to do pretty much anything to get them." He says, his voice calm even as he relayed the news. Behind them, you could see an explosion occur through one of the windows of Gambit's Bar. This event was thoroughly ignored by both the people.

"Can you tell me what these people want these Artifacts for?" Sandy presses and the bartender looks thoughtful for a moment or so.

"Seems to me they want them for a whole lot of reasons. I can tell you though, that I don't rightly trust anyone who would attack people just sitting at the counter to get a hold of theirs." The bartender says.

"I see. Tell me, do you know what these people call themselves, sir?"

"Yes miss, I do. On one side you have the people who have been protecting these artifacts. They call themselves the Guardians, though I've heard the Patronus as well. And on the other hand, you've got the people who want the artifacts. Those people are called the Orsa Terminus."

He replies, but he goes on, ignoring Sandy, who had opened her mouth to ask another question. "I've heard both sides looking for help in the bar. Guess you'd just have to ask if you wanted to help either one out." He says quietly, looking straight at the camera.

"That's good to know sir! Now tell me, what sort of artifacts are they talking about here? Is it any magical artifacts, things made by someone specific?"

The bartender stops and things this over for a minute, ignoring the dent that just appeared in Gambit's wall and the man who entered by kicking the door off it's hinges. "Hm. I'm pretty certain it's just a handful of specific items. I don't rightly know, but I'm pretty sure."

As another explosion happens in the bar, the reporter glances back at it dubiously, before looking to the camera. "Well, thank you for your time, Mr. Bartender!" She chirrups happily and he nods, about to say something. Sandy quickly cuts him off as the sound of fighting grows.

"I'm Sandy Day, and this is Wing City Rumor Watch! Remember, keep your ears open, and your eyes wide! See you next time!"

The camera shuts off, returning to commercial break, but not before you catch site of an odd man bringing in a beam of wood that looks far too heavy for the average man to carry.

Trantor News Now, live on TNN

Reports that a new paramilitary group are quote "Unfounded and illegal"

Trantor Command Reported that a multinational division to investigate strange and unusual objects are both "Impossible," and "illegal!"

Trantor will clearly NOT work on this, after all, it is not like we are working with the UCON as well as the Collation governments and new powers to Known space to investigate these strange factions. It is clear and present. We are not using the Ring class Exploration vessel as a base."

What do you think about people protecting these artifacts.

"They are unregistered mercenary groups. If they want to enter Trantor space, they can either register or be shot down. It is bad enough the Inviticus group ran rampant before intergalactic peacekeepers stabilized Terra. All of these so called do gooders should leave the real work up to the Intergalactic Congress and proper police groups!

And that was all that we could get here at TGN news. Thank you again for listing, and next up is I Cyborg, why I became a cyborg at age 4!

Interview with an Orsa

Theme music begins to play and the camera pans across a series of comfortable looking chairs. It encompasses the entire set, before a second camera cuts in, focusing on the host. Sandy Day smiles brightly for her audience.

"Welcome everybody, to a special edition of Rumor Watch! Today we're honored to have with us one of the many fighters in the Artifact Wars, Nyx Alurane." The camera zooms out, taking in the sight of Nyx sitting on the chair next to her.

"So tell our viewers a little bit about yourself, Nyx. Only what you can of course. I wouldn't want to divulge any sensitive info."

“Myself? That is not at all sensitive; I hide nothing from those who ask nicely.” She chuckled quietly and idly flicked a strand of hair back from her features, settling into a comfier position in the chair before continuing, a thoughtful expression on her features. “Let’s see... As you know my name is Nyx Alurane. Often people tend to assume that simply because I am demonic that I will devour their souls at a moment’s notice or kidnap their children, something foolish like that-“ She chuckled quietly, shaking her head. “-But actually I am quite fond of chatting, much like we are doing now and I find it rather hurtful when people simply assume things without knowing me in the slightest...” She trailed off with a heavy sigh, placing the perfect imitation of sadness upon her face before shaking her head, as if removing depressing thoughts from her mind. “But I’m getting off subject, my apologies. I am fond of red wine, good conversation and good company... Also I have never lost a game of cards.” Again she chuckled lightly, smiling cheerfully. Her performance was made to create empathy, to create the image of a kind person, one who would never harm a fly. She hoped it would work. “I’m not sure what else to say... I’m afraid I’m not at all very interesting...” She chuckled, crossing her legs neatly as she waited for the next question, head tilted to one side in a curious fashion.

“Never lost a game of cards, huh? Sounds like a great skill to have.” She smiles brightly for the camera. “Remind me never to play poker with you, Nyx.” She chuckles, cuing audience laughter. As the laughter ends, she smoothly enters into the next question.

“So telle me a little more about your organization. We've heard many different views of the Orsa Terminus, you see, and would love to have it all cleared up.” Another award winning smile, and she prompts Nyx to speak, her body angled to show just the right amount of interest in what the other woman says.

At this she made a thoughtful sound, resting a finger to her bottom lip for several moments before replying. “We aren’t an organization... Simply a group of people who have the same interests, wish for the same things...” She smiled, nodding firmly. “We are like a family; Supporting each other when needed, protecting each other should one of us become in danger...” Her words were lies, yet they came out effortlessly, convincing as if they were nothing but the truth. “I think that... We have been getting a great deal of unwarranted bad press, so to speak... And I am unsure why. We simply defend ourselves when the need arises, that is not a bad thing surely?” She sighed heavily. “I adore my family as if they were that, and I only wish for us to succeed... Why should we be condemned for that?”

“I don't believe you should Nyx.” She says, covering the other woman's hand with her own. “It sounds as if you are really close to your family. If only all families loved each other so. I'm afraid I do have to ask what your family's goal is though? We've heard rumors of some horribly violent goals from your people.”

She took on a slightly firmer look, white eyes glittering with longing as she replied without a moment’s hesitation. “As I said... We are like a family, but a broken one...” She lowered her head, a frown coming to her features. “Our dearest Father is lost to us; sealed away where we cannot reach him... We simply want him back.” She nodded, looking up once again. “Is that something terrible? To be fought against so terribly? We simply want to be made whole again, to change this world for the better... It is... A shame that others see things differently...” She looked off to one side, a small sniffling sound coming from her, and anyone would think she was truly crying as she turned back, clearing her throat. “I am sorry... That is a... A sensitive topic, please could you... Move on?”

“Of course!” She says, patting Nyx's hand comfortingly once or twice. “I'm sorry I upset you so, sweetie. I do hope you are able to reach your father soon.” She murmurs in comfort. “I'll move straight to the next question then. What can you tell me about the artifacts?”

Nyx tilted her head to one side, still slightly ‘saddened’ by the previous question. “Oh... I know little of them... Only that they are the items that are keeping... Keeping him away from us...” She lapsed into silence before continuing. “We seek them so desperately, we want nothing more than the items. We never wished for this conflict to begin, for so many lives to be put at risk... I know that personally I have tried speaking with several carries of these items, to convince them to peacefully give them to us... And always my efforts have failed...” She shook her head. “It is... A terrible shame...”

“Now we've all heard the rumors, and I have to admit to curiosity now myself. People truly want to help you and your family out, but they need to know. Why should the viewers side with you in this so called 'Artifact War'?” She asks, the hard journalist's look coming to her eye once more. This was what she wanted to know.

She looked rather surprised at this and shook her head quickly. “A war? I was not aware that this was being called such... I am... Quite shocked...” She looked genuinely so for a moment before continuing. “I suppose if anyone has been forcibly separated from a dear family member, has felt the pain of loss as we have... I would think that they would empathize with our plight... However I do not want anyone to join in with this, like I said; I have made peaceful approaches, all of which have failed and so I would hate for people to join and become injured...” The true reason was simply that she wished no one to get in the way... But she would never say such a thing.

'I see.” The journalists smiles brightly once more, putting on her happiest face. “I'm glad to hear your concern for the common man, Nyx. It makes me glad that there are still people like you in this world.”

The journalist leans towards Nyx ever so slightly, before smiling a vaguely predatory smile. “Now you simply must tell me, so the ordinary man knows. Are these so-called Artifacts, dangerous to ordinary people?”

She nodded gravely at this. “Currently as they are being used as weapons... Sadly they are... We of the Orsa cannot use them ourselves, and so were we to have them, there would be no risk to the public, however currently they are being held by trigger happy individuals, who would rather fight than speak... So currently.... Yes, they are a danger.” She looked downward at her knees, seeming very regretful of this fact.

The journalist waits for a moment before speaking again, as the camera pans across the shocked faces of her studio audience. Once the lens has focused on her once more, Sandy appears to think over the next question. “We have heard a bit of a public outcry lately, Nyx. The people want to know, why can't your family fight away from public places? It's said a lot of the recent damage to the ever popular Gambit's Bar has been induced primarily by the fighters of this war.”

She looked rather confused at this, tilting her head to one side. “I have only, sadly been a part of one fight, however I am sure I can speak for my allies when I say that we use every precaution to remove these unfortunate conflicts away from the public... We wish no harm upon anyone after all, we simply wish for our Father to be allowed to be free again...”

“I'm sure you'll get your wish one day Nyx. You seem too noble a woman not to.” She reassures the other woman with a gentle smile. “Now please, tell our viewers what your supporters can do to help?”

“Truly we have few in the way of supporters because we wish to limit the danger we put people in... However those we do have could strive to gain the artifacts, information on where to find them, who possesses them... Anything of that nature would be vitally important, and of course well rewarded...” She nodded slowly. “And of course, I believe peaceful solutions to be the best ones... However unfortunately the guardians of these items seem to advocate violence... And so I would also urge supporters to keep themselves safe... I would personally be deeply saddened if any were to fall...”

With all questions answered, Nyx would smile happily at the interviewer and bow her head respectfully. “I thank you very much for letting me have this chance to talk with you... Hopefully things will go much more smoothly now that the public know what we are truly like, not the great evil we are being made out to be... My thanks again.”

“It was no problem at all Nyx; I had a wonderful time interviewing you. Thank you for coming on our show.” She turned to face the camera, which zoomed in on her, excluding Nyx from the shot. “You've heard straight form the Orsa's mouth, Wing City! Feel free to e-mail in your comments on today's interview, and be sure to watch our next episode, where we have the honor of hearing the story on the other side.”

Credit rolls and the camera zooms out, viewing the two from a downward angle as they make light talk together. The credits finish, only to be replaced by sponsor commercials and soon, the next program.

Rumor Watch

Interview with a Patronus

Theme music begins to play and the camera pans across a series of comfortable looking beige chairs. It encompasses the entire set, before a second camera cuts in, focusing on the host. Sandy Day smiles brightly for her audience.

"Welcome everybody, to a special edition of Rumor Watch! Today we're honored to have with us one of the many fighters in the Artifact Wars, Dallas Reiger. We've interviewed the Orsa Terminus, and now it's time to talk to the Patronus!" The camera zooms out, taking in the sight of Dallas sitting on the chair next to her. "Now Dallas, what can you tell me about yourself? I understand you may be unable to say some things, for your own safety, and, of course, the safety of your teammates?"

The priestess shifted uncomfortably in her seat, looking altogether uneasy with the technology around her. She forced a smile, which lacked any of the woman’s usual kindliness and geniality. "I can tell you what is common knowledge. I am a priestess of the near-extinct Lahanian Empryea, currently residing in the area of the Multiverse around Gambit's Bar in Wing City."

The hostess smiles brightly at the woman. "The Lahanian Empryea! Sounds interesting, Dallas. And you must be a brave woman to even reside in Wing City." She says with a smile, moving on to her next question. "Now I understand that you can't tell me exactly which artifact each member holds, but what can you tell me about these Artifacts we've been hearing oh so much about lately?"

Dallas nodded stoically, feeling as though she had as much social grace as her dragonborn companion. She was not one to admit she was intimidated by things, but that didn’t mean she truly wasn’t. "As much as I know, I will relay. The artifacts are ordinary items imbued with otherwise extraordinary powers. Each is unique. Together, they are the keys to unleashing a terrible evil known only as The Sealed One.”

Sandy leans forward, obviously intrigued. "The Sealed One? Ooo, sounds dangerous." She states, obviously trying to lead the priestess down that path.

The priestess quirked a curious brow, oblivious to Sandy’s attempts to create ratings-fetching drama and mystique. "It does sound rather ominous....and the little bit of power it has shown thus far is enough for me to believe that what was sealed should remain so.”

Sandy frowns. "I see. I suppose you must not know too much about the Sealed One, since it is locked up." She states, smiling slightly. "Viewers want to know Dallas, why should people help you out on your side of the war?"

"Being as the safety and well-being of the citizens both in Wing City and abroad is our main concern, I can't see any reason they wouldn't ally themselves with us." She looked genuinely confused at that, as though it were a simplistic matter of black and white. "As we do not know what this Sealed One is capable of, it's simply makes the most sense to keep it sealed."

"That does make sense to me. But I can't help but ask...If you are so concerned about the safety of the people in Wing City, then why do all of your battle seem to begin and end in extremely public and often crowded places. Other news sources have even cited both of your groups as para-military, and highly dangerous!" Sandy says, leaning in towards Dallas.

The priestess frowned, her irritation clearly growing at what she saw as absolutely ridiculous accusations. "I can assure you it is not the intention of the Patronus to cause harm or destruction. It seems as though our attempts at hiding in plain sight have failed rather miserably, and we have resorted to more remote places. However it can't be helped that the occasional scuffle happens in public places...the enemy is relentless."

Sandy sits back and smiles. "I'm glad to hear that your side, at least, is trying to take all those battles out of Wing City." She says, before he eyes narrow slightly. "So tell me, Dallas, does your side start most of the fights, or do you simply try to finish them. And what peaceful methods have you tried resolving thing conflict?"

Her eyes widened slightly in surprise at the question, having relatively little experience with journalistic types. "Erm...though my personal preferences are for mediation and negotiation, it seems that the Orsa has no interest in such things. They often attack guardians with little warning and little chance for peaceful resolution. The Patronus is left with little recourse but to defend ourselves.”

"We haven't had the opportunity to pursue peace."

"Hm. Well, you must not have much time before the attack to even shout parlay then!" She quips with a smile, before moving onto the next question. "What exactly do these artifacts this war is about do? I understand they open the jail cell of the Sealed One, but Other than that, do these magical items have any particular powers?"

"Each one has it's own individual abilities. They range from offensive magic to defensive magic to mental magic." She paused, her natural inclination being to use her armor as an example. However, she wasn't certain it was a wise idea to reveal that information, seeing as it was going to be that much easier to be outed by her enemies.

"Oh? wouldn't that make them dangerous to the normal people of Wing City?" She asks with a polite smile. "Offensive magic can be pretty dangerous to the normal man and woman on the street."

"We are trying to keep such weapons out of the hands of those who would use them against innocent people." Her brow creased slightly, wondering how many times she was going to have to say the same thing over and over. The priestess quite decided then and there that she didn't like journalists.

Sandy nods and smiles. "I'm always glad to hear that our beloved city has a few heroes in it, Dallas. Tell me, if someone wanted to join the Patronus, how would they do such a thing?"

She frowns thoughtfully for a moment. "I don't think we wish to put any more innocent lives at risk than we must...it probably wouldn't be wise for average citizens to join our ranks."

Sandy nods. "I see. If any citizens have any information they feel you need to know, what would you suggest they do?" She asks, looking at Dallas intently.

This she seems to ponder for a very long time before finally speaking. "Find me." The answer was not spoken with any sense of jest, it was most logically the thing to do. She could not risk exposing other members of the Patronus, as she was apparently their...erm...public face. "I am most often available in Gambits Bar....though I may be less frequent than normal. Other than that, I am certain the resourceful citizens of Wing City can manage to find a way." It was her turn to smile sweetly, quite effectively masking the mockery in her tone.

"Alright! Thank you for all your help, Dallas, and thank you for agreeing to be on our show." She says smiling, then turns to the cameras. "And thank you, my dear viewers, for tuning into today's episode of Rumor Watch! You've heard both sides of the story, now it's up to you to make you your minds!" The reporter. says with a bright grin.

The priestess smiles at the camera, rather genuinely considering, before it cuts to pre-credits commercials.

Ready For War ( )

Postby Saarai on Mon May 31, 2010 3:46 pm

The logo for the Wing City News Network would show up on the screen, broadcasting live as always. The logo would disappear in favor of showing the Invictus' logo for a few moments, before the screen shifts to the news room. Kazen could be seen sitting next to Erick Kelly with Phinx sitting on the other side.

"Hello, this is Erick Kelly... with... Kazen Horne and Mary Munroe of the Invictus." Erick would say, clearing his throat, looking over to Kazen. "Aye! And, we got something to say, fuck the Aschen." As soon as Kazen said this, Phinx would stand and hold a banner, that said, 'Fuck The Aschen' in big red letters. "And fuck anyone that has anything to do with them." Phinx added, "Consider this the official..." Phinx paused for a moment, "Declaration of war?" Erick reluctantly finished, "That works! In a way. It ain't really as much of a war, as it is us saying, Wing City is not safe for the Aschen."

The screen would move to show some desert location, several members of the Invictus could be seen standing and facing the camera, Cyern at the forefront of them.

"This is what we are working with." Cyern would mutter, loud enough for the camera to hear of course, but subtitles were still put up. Cyern would nod once to the Invictus mercenaries, one would run off and wave his hand to someone off-screen. At this, a large battle ship would appear behind the Invictus and Cyern, obviously it was cloaked for some time. "We have many more, we will use them." Cyern said.

The screen shifted once more to go back to Kazen, Phinx, and Erick.

"The Aschen will see this, and they'll come trying to prove something, as diplomacy seems to be too hard for their brains to handle. Really predictable, they are, we'll destroy them. If not, fuck them up." Kazen said with a chuckle.

The Invictus logo would show again, and then the broadcast would end in favor of commercials.
"Are you professional moron, or just a gifted amateur?"

MEA Seeks Torturer of SAC Cameron FIELDS

WING CITY - On Wednesday evening, Special Agent in Charge Cameron FIELDS of the MEA's Wing City Field Office was arrested by the Aschen Langaran Defense Agency as an alleged member of the designated unlawful "Orsa of Terminus" organization. Under Aschen law, Agent FIELDS was taken into custody under the category of "prisoner of war", as the Aschen Confederation has deemed the Orsa of Terminus a national security threat. After Agent FIELDS's arrest by LDA Special Agent Marlene ANGEL, Agent FIELDS was subjected to various forms of torture and prisoner abuse considered unlawful under the Geneva Conventions and the Eighth Amendment. Although the Aschen Confederation is neither a signatory to the Geneva Conventions nor subject to the provisions of the United States Constitution, the MEA categorically condemns the actions of Agent ANGEL and those who are accessory to the continued mistreatment of Agent FIELDS.

The MEA has a responsibility to protect and to serve not only those in its jurisdiction, but also and especially those who are sworn agents of the Agency, and it will carry out this duty via all possible means. The MEA is working closely with the Department of Justice and the Department of State, with MEA Deputy Director Lisa SHEAHAN collaborating with Attorney General Naazmat CHAKLADAR and Secretary of State Annmarie YORE to pursue all available means to secure Agent FIELD's release. Failing that, the MEA demands that the Aschen formally charge Agent FIELDS with a crime, and try him publicly in an impartial hearing.

One measure which the MEA is actively pursuing is to demand reparations for the crimes committed against Agent FIELDS. The MEA has filed criminal charges with the District Court against Agent ANGEL for violating Agent FIELDS's civil rights, denying him due process, and intentionally torturing him. Agent ANGEL is currently being sought to face these charges in a court of law. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Agent ANGEL is asked to contact the nearest MEA Field Office so that Agent ANGEL can be brought to justice. The MEA agent assigned to the ANGEL/FIELDS case is Agent Karen L. TORGESEN.

In addition, the Secretary of Magical Affairs and Director of the MEA, Ayasha ZIEDINS, is currently offworld in Caprica City, in the Caprican Prefecture of the Aschen Confederation, in part to maintain a continued MEA presence to lobby for the humane treatment of Agent FIELDS. No further statement will be made on Director ZIEDINS's whereabouts or activities.

The MEA will fully cooperate with the LDA's investigation into Agent FIELD's alleged involvement with the Orsa of Terminus, and is conducting its own internal investigation, with Agent TORGESEN assigned to return a full report on all findings either against Agent FIELDS or in his favor. The public will be notified if the U.S. Attorney for the District of Wing City decides to file charges against Agent FIELDS.

Any further, non-time sensitive comments may be directed to the Press Office of the MEA Wing City Field Office.

SAC Cameron FIELDS Faces Life in Prison

WING CITY - On Wednesday evening, Special Agent in Charge Cameron FIELDS of the MEA's Wing City Field Office was arrested by the Aschen Langaran Defense Agency as an alleged member of the designated unlawful "Orsa of Terminus" organization. Under Aschen law, Agent FIELDS was taken into custody under the category of "prisoner of war", as the Aschen Confederation has deemed the Orsa of Terminus a national security threat. Following a series of allegations against LDA Special Agent Marlene E. ANGEL of prisoner abuse and torture, the MEA issued an arrest warrant for Agent ANGEL, but earlier today, Deputy Director Lisa SHEAHAN announced that the warrant would be rescinded due to the MEA's own investigative findings without further comment.

Upon further investigation, MEA Special Agent Karen L. TORGESEN uncovered criminal intent on Agent FIELD's part in providing material aid to the Orsa of Terminus. He was reportedly recruited by a being known only as Krycis, with the intent to unlawfully obtain magical items known collectively as the twelve artefacts, for the purpose of securing the magically obtainable release of a being known as the Sealed One, whose liberation is being considered a national security threat by both the Aschen Confederation and the United States. Agent FIELDS participated in several violent altercations with the members of an organization called the Patronus, at least one incident resulting in the death of a Patronus member. He publicly and privately supported and lent aid to the Orsa of Terminus, in defiance of the designated 'unlawful criminal organization' status imposed upon the Orsa of Terminus organization.

The MEA has removed Agent FIELDS from official duties without pay, and the permanent termination of his employment is pending the completion of a separate Internal Affairs investigation. Deputy Director SHEAHAN has appointed Amira QAHTANI as Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Wing City Field Office, pro tempore. The MEA is now requesting that Agent FIELDS be extradited to the United States to stand trial on the charges of Conspiracy, Unlawful Fraternization with a Criminal Organization, and Proving Material Aid to a Criminal Organization. Agent FIELDS faces life in prison if convicted. The U.S. Attorney handling Agent FIELDS's case, responsible for Wing City and its district, is Oluwadara UGOCHUKWU.

The MEA is fully cooperating with the Aschen investigation into Agent FIELDS's activities, and is open to pursuing all possible avenues of justice in this case. It is regrettable when any public official abuses the trust and responsibility of his position for personal gain, and unlawfully consorts with a known criminal organization with a known criminal intent, and the MEA is dedicated to justice in all cases, especially when the perpetrator of a crime is a public official entrusted to the safekeeping of the people. Special Agent Karen L. TORGESEN received commendations from headquarters for her diligent work in this case.

Director Ayasha ZIEDINS is unavailable for comment. Any comments may be directed to the Press Office of the MEA Wing City Field Office.

Special Agent Cassandra M. SCHWARTZ Killed in Line of Duty

WING CITY - Earlier this week, Supervisory Special Agent Cassandra M. SCHWARTZ was pursuing a sensitive lead in the ongoing investigation of the terrorist organization Hataf in Wing City when she was shot by two suspects, dying shortly afterward in a car explosion engineered by the same two suspects.

Hataf is believed to have at least two sleeper cells operating in the vicinity of Wing City, with the intent to strike in a major attack at some point before the close of the year. Agent SCHWARTZ was working undercover in connection with an FBI informant when she arranged to meet Hamid SHARIF and Leopold WATTS in Gambit's Hotel, a well-known recreational and social location, located above Gambit's Bar, off of Main Street. SHARIF and WATTS were witnessed pursuing Agent SCHWARTZ through the floors of Gambit's Hotel, before shooting her and blowing out part of the ceiling above Gambit's Bar. Witnesses inside the bar stated that Agent SCHWARTZ fell through the hole created in the ceiling, before making her way out to the Side Alley connecting Gambit's Bar to Main Street.

Afterward, SHARIF and WATTS were witnessed following Agent SCHWARTZ outside, where they detonated a bomb planted in Agent SCHWARTZ's car, resulting in an explosion that killed Agent SCHWARTZ and wounded several passerby, who were treated at St. Stephen's for minor injuries. SHARIF and WATTS were not seen again, and are believed to have fled the jurisdiction of Wing City, pending further investigation. The FBI is now actively seeking SHARIF and WATTS, and has issued a warrant for their arrest on the charges of conspiracy and capital murder. SHARIF and WATTS are also wanted in connection to the terrorist organization Hataf, for providing material aid to a designated terrorist organization.

Agent SCHWARTZ was a dedicated young woman born in 1975 in Ninety Six, South Carolina. Agent SCHWARTZ graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in political science. While a senior, she interned with a South Carolina Representative to the US House of Representatives, but then turned toward a career in criminal justice, and was hired by the FBI shortly after graduation as a Special Agent. Initially assigned to Violent Crimes in Los Angeles, Agent SCHWARTZ was later assigned to counterterrorism, where she was partnered with her cousin, Supervisory Special Agent Natalie E. SCHULTZ, where the two have been collaborating primarily on the Tahira Ali task force, of which Agent SCHULTZ is the lead agent.

Agent SCHWARTZ was known by her coworkers as a dedicated agent committed to pursuing justice with honor and bravery despite the numerous risks she faced with undercover work on terrorism investigations. She is survived by two ex-husbands, Matthew WALKER, and Julius BASTIANELLI; her father, the Honorable Yosef SCHWARTZ; two sisters, Stephanie SCHWARTZ and Brittany SCHWARTZ; and her cousin, Supervisory Special Agent Natalie SCHULTZ. Viewing hours will be at the Caruso Funeral Home in Washington D.C. Thursday from 4pm-6pm and Friday from 10am-12pm; the funeral will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday at 9am.

The agent assigned to investigate Agent SCHWARTZ's murder is Special Agent Scott DeLONG, who is a liaison between the counterterrorism divisions in Headquarters and the Wing City Field Office. Any comments may be directed to the Press Office of the MEA Wing City Field Office. Condolescences may be expressed to the Honorable Yosef SCHWARTZ by contacting Agent DeLONG. The SCHWARTZ family is asking that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Cassandra Schwartz Memorial Fund, which will support the families of FBI agents killed or injured in the line of duty.

OOC: I need to fix the background color on my images so they appear transparent with the forum's color scheme. Unfortunately, I'm a bit lazy. With any luck, I will eventually buckle down and just do it.
