Rocker Erringer set to “Rush” Wing City Gardens this weekend
The Wing City Gardens may never be the same.
Unapologetically brash Silver Nitrate Rush frontman and guitarist Nick Erringer announced that he will be
hosting the “base of a lifetime” this Saturday night in the Wing City Gardens. From some of the media and pop
culture elite to the rank and file citizens of Wing City, the party is expected to draw hundreds for the all-night
event privately funded by the eccentric artist.
“This city has been piled under so much **** with all the politics and the lying and the scandals,” he told sources
when spotted outside a night club last week after releasing the time and location of the long-rumored event
through SNR’s official publicist. “It’s time that the city gets a chance to breath, to take off the damn suit and tie
and just let loose for once.”
Erringer had been outspoken on a number of fronts of late, mostly criticizing the various political and military
factions vying for control of Terra and exerting their influence over Wing City. Previous interviews and comments
painted a picture of a man with no love lost for foreign influence and tolerance at best for native factions.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that the people have finally begun to show signs of independent thought and
control free of the tyranny and warmongering that have been holding us down,” Erringer said with a surprisingly
eloquence and knowledge of the detailed events and happenings of the high political drama, “but any Terran that
wants to jump on that grenade is a screw loose in my book. More power to them, man, but when you start playing
those games you’re just one step away from being the lowlife monsters we just got off our back.”
Erringer said the party is supposed to help everyone forget about the tragic and consuming events of late and
simply enjoy life – something the rocker’s drug-addled past has shown he has the ability to do at the best and
worst of times.
A number of local acts from high-profile performers to many bands and artists from the underground scene
that gave birth to Erringer and SNR’s sound have confirmed that they will attend and play. Liquor distributor
and catering services in the Wing City area say their demand for the event has put a strain on production. While
the event is rumored to now carry a bill running into six digits, Erringer says that one and all are still going to be
welcome at the event.
“I don’t care about color, creed or uniform. Leave it all at the door and just be.”
Despite rumors and continued questions, Erringer refuses to comment on whether Silver Nitrate Rush will take the
stage for the event after their hiatus or whether his fellow bandmates will attend the event.
OOC: The event is an IC event in the Multiverse on April 30, 2011 around 7:00 p.m. CST in one of the Wing City
Gardens locations. Any and all are welcome to attend as individual characters. OOCly, I ask that the faction players
do not involve their factions without prior notice and approval. Thank you and feel free to PM with any questions.

WING CITY BANK, LOCAL JEWELER ROBBED
The news room of WCNN is quite busy, the logo appears on the cameras as the theme music begins. the newsman speaks "A Local Jeweler speaks out on a two week old robbery, and Wing City Bank officals find money missing from the main vault of the Eastern Branch, and also an odd battle vow is made between two opponets." Finally the camera focuses on the newsman, John hartchif. "For WCNN I'm John Hartcif."
The scene shifts slightly, to the l eft of the newsman the picture of A diamond in a glove is seen, "A local jewler has spoken up about a two week old robbery of his store, for more on that story we go to Wing City Plaza's Hobbs and Sons Jewelers, to Mark Lane with the story, Mark."
The camera shifts slightly showing A young man with a light beard, and wearing a WCNN hat on his head. He waits a heartbeat or three before speaking into his mic. "Well John, from outside the Hobbs and Sons Jewlery store on the Plaza of Wing City doesn't appear to be worth much to the normal eye, but something of extreme value has been found missing for at least two weeks. the owner of the store, who was on duty at the time of the robbery said that the store was just closing up for the night when a car accident happened out front of the store. The counterman on duty says he wenty out to help whoever was injured in the crash."
The scene shifts slightly to showing a man named James Hobbs being interviewed, he is a young Native American looking man with ice green eyes and dark tan, "It was about six in the evening, I was locking up for the nigtht when a crash occured outside the store, Naturally I went to see if I could help whoever was hurt in the crash, it wasn't until the next morning did we find the necklace missing."
Mark comes back on the screen, "James Hobbs says he was scared to call the police as he at the time did not know who would try to go after the most valued item in the store, a $55,000. necklace made with thirty two karat gold, and several diamonds. James Did say however that the dimand and gold necklace is inscribed with the initals F.H. on the back of the diamond. Live from Wing City Plaza, I'm mark Lane." the screen shifts to show John Hartchif
John speaks, "this morning Wing City Bank officals at the Eastern Branch of the Wing City Bank say that ten thousand dollars was stolen at some point during the night, Police say that anyone with information should contact Wing City's Guard Office, or John Blacksad, at MAin 2-4-6-8, or EAsir 2-2-3-3"
The picture behind the newsman changed to a sporting arena, "In other news, a friendly bout has turned into more of a game of honor at the local Arena, for more on this story we go to Jack Gren at the Arena, Jack?"
"Well John, according to Arena officals, a woman by the name of Flying Red Shash has been formally challenged to a battle of honor and glory at the end of the Roman's Gladitorial Games, the man FRS is to battle is none other then the Captain of the Roman Royal Guard, Sir Brutus. Nither fighter were avalible for comment however a Dr Daniel Marks recmoonds anyone with gambling problems should gamble on this battle in favor of FRS, currently the bookies offices are open, and the standings for this battle are $100, 10-to-2, reporting from the Wing City Arena, I'm Jack Gren, back to you John"
"In other news the Arena Girl made an appearance today after winning her tenth Battle Royale in a row." Hartchif's voice continues as the screen shifts slightly to show a replay of the battle between Vipteri and five others, one of them a Dragonborn. "When asked why she fights in so many Battle Royales, The Arena Girl replied that she merely fights in these battles for the adrenaline rush. For Wing City news Network, I'm John hartchif." The theme and logo for WCNN appears on the screen before fading.

Lord Admiral dies at 93.
Today, the six largest ships in the Confederacy left dock at high anchor around Rynn V, headed directly for the UCON Razorbacks. This date also marks the death of Lord Admiral Roburte Stern, who passed in his sleep at the ripe old age of 93.
Admiral Stern is a veteran of the unification wars, who brought the outer systems back into line, earning him fame and renown across our empire. He was born on Navarre, to Lord Ethan and Lady Abigail Stern. A competent and sedate child, Roburte performed well at school, getting top grades in most subjects, especially maths and the sciences. At age 15 he joined the cadet forces, training alongside the Confederacy navy, learning to pilot small aircraft and low orbit vessels.
After enlisting in the naval academy, he quickly shone as a competent commander and tactician. He graduated at the top his class, and was quickly assigned to the Perfect Dark, a Galahad class Frigate. He saw action against Compassionate Hand pirates on the outer edges of the Confederacy, quickly rising to the rank of Lieutenant for distinction under fire. After a few years defeating the pirates, culminating in the boarding action that took the Hinterlight, he was promoted to Captain, and given command of the Evaine class destroyer, the Proteus.
At this juncture, the Confederacy encountered the rogue Taiyou splinter faction, and Captain Stern led the charge, taking the Proteus through over thirty engagements and racking up over twenty kills. His remarkable grasp of battle tactics attracted the attention of the High Command, who promoted him again to Commodore. Still at the head of the now venerable Proteus, Roburte saw another year of patrol duty, before being rotated home. Here, he exhibited remarkable dramatic flair, making connections with many officials across the Confederacy at the many parties and functions he attended.
One of these was Lady Tatina Dasschult of the notable family of diplomats. Their engagement was both political and brought out of love. They moved to a mansion on Rynne V, where the pair became a major part of the diplomatic scene, taking part in the brokering of the first treaty with UCON.
Roburte mustered out from the navy, becoming a diplomat, heading out to Terra on the first picket, and opened the embassy, cutting the ribbon and beginning the involvement of the Confederacy in with wider galaxy. After a year on Terra, the Stern's had their first child, Drake, followed a year later by Absolution.
After the council elections of 3805, Roburte was elevated to represent Navarre in the senate, shortly followed by ascension to the position of Lord Admiral. In this position, he helped shaped the policy alongside the outside galaxy, deepening the alliance with UCON, and trying to prevent the outbreak of hostilities with the Aschen Confederation. He held this position for thirty years, until his death last night at 04:34 Rynne time.
First Mech rolls off production-line
Armex, until recently, was a company on the fringes of industry, dabbling in untested electromag technology. It was also part of one of the minor industries associated with mech production. The arrival of basic rail technology from UCON promted them to enhance their own designs, and begin production of a slew of new designs, codenamed the Savior project. Due to the imminent invasion by Belka, production of these new devises has been rushed through in less than six months, with the first Aggressor prototype beginning testing today.

Confederacy send colonists out into the void.
Today, on the date 3790 Confederacy standard, twenty behemoth like ships left the massive orbital shipyards above Tirese, packed to the gunwales with all the necessities for colonising a new world. The ships are constructed from mothballed capital ships, with the guns and military technology stripped, and fitted with a massive cargo hold and sleeping quarters sufficient for the five thousand colonists needed to begin life on one of the twenty selected systems, around 50 AU distant from the fortified borders of Confederacy space.
The first ship to depart was the
Stern, an old Emperor class cruiser, over half a kilometre long, bulbous and heavy after the massive internal modifications. Inside rest five thousand tough, frontiersmen from across the Confederacy, armed with ex-military weapons and light mechs, ready to begin clearing the path for the next wave of ships, who will bring citizens to the planet, and growth can begin.
For security reasons, at this time we cannot reveal the destinations of the Colony vessels, but it is known that they should be at their destinations, with the colonists deployed before the end of the year.
This plan comes at a time of flux for the Confederacy. Public opinion towards the outside universe, and those who inhabit it is changing massively, as the recent demonstrations on Rynn V, Tarkan and Yset II have shown. Many citizens feel that the military is in the wrong for getting involved in the Belkan crisis, despite a passionate call for aid from lady-Admiral Yschenkov. The public perception of the conflict sees no long-term benefits for the Confederacy, only the death of millions of brave soldiers.
It is hoped that the addition of new worlds to the Confederacy will breathe new life into a nation said to be stagnating by a worthy politician. Many analysts within the Confederacy see a third civil war on the horizon, as contact with the outside world seems to scare the overall population, driving them into insular burrows like rodents. The council's aggressive expansion and political policy seems to jar heavily with public opinion, causing riots to spring up all over the nation, some with violent repercussions.
The demonstrations on Tarkan resulted in the police firing into the crowd to disperse them, instead they received a shower of petrol bombs. This is a scene likely to repeat itself all over the Confederacy, as anti-war protesters take to the streets, joined by disgruntled citizens and political activists.
A military staging zone on Arcus was hit by the Hand of God, promting outrage in the senate, demanding that the military return from the Claw and police its own systems. Once again, the new admiral, desperate to prove herself on the galactic stage refused, saying that they would fight to the last alongside the UCON, as the safety of the Galaxy was at risk.

Car And Ship Thefts Rise As Law Enforcement Scramble To Find The Thieves
A recently emerged gang seems to be responsible for rising car and ship thefts in parts of Terra and various other locations in the multiverse. Members of the gang are said to be responsible for over five-thousand care thefts in only the past two weeks. The size of the gang is still unknown but it is clear that they are professionals and not to be taken lightly. Rumors of vehicles being stolen from the Aschen and the paranormal community have yet to be confirmed.
Although many members of the gang have remained in the dark, the leader has been identified under the name 'Walsh', seen around parts of Terra in recent days. Wash has yet to show any violent behavior but he is said to be armed and should be dealt with as so.

Home Allies illegitimacy highlighted in Allied Senate debate, growing lack of confidence across the entire House Administration.Channel 76 News, BKSN
RAY; Welcome back to Scatterran Galactic News ladies and gentlemen. I'm Ray Leinmer, and for all of those just joining us, I'm here today with Governor and House Administration seat-holder Jacob Banks for a discussion on the modern political and strategical situation ... of not just our Coalition, but the entire galaxy -- won't you agree, Governor?
BANKS; To leave it at just the descriptive term "situation" is an understatement; the Coalition, some of the only governments in this galaxy that can appear to be trusted, is on the verge of a considerable change in the coming years. The Hegemony has returned to Home, and before this conflict could even have been resolved, there was already a collosal blunder.
RAY; Alright now, Governor, we've all heard of the recent killing of the Hegemony double and other impersonators -- An Aschen coward, a dirtbag that goes by the name of Miles Hagan -- decided he'd further his agenda on not only the Belkans, but the honest population of the Aschen Confederation, shearing the sheep of the Aschen and selling the wool to the Belkans.
BANKS; Hagan is already convicted and he's staring down the barrel of the Aschen government, but on the contrary of that entire fiasco, the Hegemony nationals that were killed in broad Confederation space, with no lack of monitoring or nearby security until well enough into the treason, were actually the figureheads and ministry directors that we have suspected. The Belkan Hegemony utilizes an extensive networks of clones and simple "reinstallments" -- the Belkans have developed such a complex system, it can simply spit up another leader. Had the Confederation heeded this warning, simply opened their ears and listened for once, we may not be hearing the Belkan outcry that's slowly approaching the Allies.
RAY; So the Aschen blatantly ignored the consideration that the Belkan force was already entrenched in a conflict on Polis, meaning it would be Coalition infrastructure and -- well, maybe now the whole galaxy that would be at risk?
BANKS; All of Home is now in danger from a Belkan force that is destined to arrive in this galaxy. While the Belkan leadership is replaceable, we have reason to believe that the population is still heavy motivated by their sheer presence. The Belkan communiques that have been intercepted in the Razorbacks paints a very serious picture; the Hegemony is outraged with the death of it's leadership, and with the newly installed replacements the effort to reclaim all of Home is underway.
RAY; -- And once again this just brings us back to the apparent ineffectiveness of the Allies. Sure, the Military is putting a lot of effort into Home -- the Hundred Lions Confederacy, a Coalition ally despite a rather staggered past, has been retrofitted with a modern armament and there is the supposed cooperation with a upgraded Navy.
BANKS; The Military may have confidence in the Allies, but let's be honest, between the Aschen and Lions, the Coalition is faced with an untrustworthy rat on a sinking ship, and a dedicated, yet untested people. The Hundred Lions are certainly prepared to join our forces in the defense of Home, but even both of our effort could hardly effect a Belkan incursion --
RAY; Which only raises
more suspicion on my part; I find it rather inappropriate that, despite the proven charges of treason, not only in the Coalition, but crimes across the galaxy -- human rights violation, international business fraud, extortion, illegal practices -- the Confederation hides this man and may damn well just send him off right.
You know, at that, fighting in Polis has intensified along with the Aschen killing of those Belkans, of course, I'm certain the Confederation would have steadied it's hands had they had proper intelligence on the situation, or the Belkans themselves were at the Aschen gates. The Confederation was quick to waive the
Scatterran lives just to claim first blood in the fight, what's to say it won't happen again?
BANKS; The Allies, while infantile, are quickly becoming an effective fighting force. The Hundred Lions and other contributing nations of the Allies are bringing their specialized and appropriate abilities to the table. The effort in Home will be the blood, sweat and tears of a unified effort against the Belkan Hegemony until they are unwilling or incapable of continuing the assault on the galaxy we call Home.
---Transmission cut---
Channel 850 Gov, FBCA
Ivoryblade PMC; The paramilitary company Ivoryblade has recently been granted it's House authorization to officially release several construction zones to the Terran National Government in the coming weeks. Following the neutralization of all commercial associations with the Aschen economy, with consideration of both the Tech Con deconstruction and the growing tensions with the Terrans and Aschen, the Ivoryblade contractors had dutifully performed as the 'Coalition peacekeepers' of the upwards of 500 facilities -- many of them factories, power plants and ground-to-star ports -- the contractors have received the order from the House Administration to return the facilities to Terran sovereignty.
Comprised of 140 factories, from synthetic construction plants to underground geothermal powerplants, the main industrial centers have been focused in northern Africa, utilizing the region for construction facilities. Across cities, Ivoryblade oversaw the construction of 30 star elevators, including the major star-lift in Wing City, and starport facilities. With a constantly improving infrastructure and economy, confidence has once again returned to Coalition investors in the planet, and the National Government has been offered the complete compliance of the Ivoryblade contractors and the Scatterran construction firms.
Supreme Allied Headquarters; The SAHQ command structure has been thoroughly developed; the legitimate commanding structure of the Supreme Allies, the main authority that will dictate all military operations of the Home Allies, has been released and the subsequent and contributing nations of the Allies will been approached for the confirmation. Comprised of 24 departments, portions of which reserved for nations, the main 12,000 personnel staff structure will be centered around a cooperative, international corps of officers and commanders. The Coalition, reserving 6 departments of the SAHQ, has offered four of the prime officials of the Military Counci; General Xavier Gunn, Admiral William Blitz, General Felix Vasek, and Admiral Kevin Dossert, will be occupying the Coalition departments of the SAHQ. Among the three other nations involved within the Allies, 8 commanding officers and a support staff of 4,000 have been requested of the Hundred Lions Confederacy, 4 officers of the Taiyou Empire, and 6 officers and a staff of 3,000 from the Aschen Confederation; to be delivered to the Coalition staging point in the Galactic Halo region.
Jessica North, Economics Minister; In an interview with Minister North on the Coalition economic policy, the discussion quickly turned toward the armament of the Home Allies on behalf of the Coalition armory, motorpool and industrial base.
NORTH; What you have to consider, is the Coalition retains some of the largest industrial capacity in the entire galaxy, all of Home. UCON, as the Prime Minister would boldy put it, is the arsenal of humanity.
850; So UCON has exported how much to the Allies?
NORTH; Billions of tonnes of supplies to the Hundred Lions Confederacy. As for the Loan-Lease Resolution, the Hundred Lions have received technology and fundamental mechanisms to begin the rearmament of their military utilizing their own industrial base -- unlike the Confederation, UCON is focused toward the growth of foreign nations, Terra, the Hundred Lions, and dozens of other fledgling nations that share our Home.
850; The Coalition has been relatively apprehensive with continuing business with the Aschen Confederation, correct?
NORTH; Extremely so. Prime Minister Rohnfeld is personally discussing with the Confederation, and has made it clear that beyond the necessity to operate in cooperation for all of the Allies, the Aschen are not abstained from their actions in the eyes of Scatterrans and the galaxy as a whole. The Terran National Government has a very daunting task ahead of it, and in other times perhaps we could provide more help, but in light of the situation I have found great pride in the efforts of the National Government to forge a legitimate establishment. It is honor and integrity like that which will be required to halt the Hegemony.
850; The Belkan incursion has influenced more than just the economical situation across the galaxy. The Terrans have an improved production capacity and infrastructure following the contractors returning Terran lands to Terran hands -- it's something many are celebrating, Terran sovereignty has been a goal of the Coalition for a decade.
NORTH; You're absolutely correct. Despite our situation the government of the Coalition is still crossing it's fingers for the Terrans. Sure, we were told to leave, and we gladly did -- the prospect of a rapidly organized Terra was a priority of the Territorial Authority, they simply didn't agree with our methods. Now, the Terrans have formed a legitimate base and are continuing to build their momentum. Terra as a regional power is one step closer to completely securing Home from Belka.

MISSING!
LDA AGENT NATALIE SCHULTZ MISSING SINCE TUESDAY
12 May 2011 C.E.
Photo credit: Ylanne S. and MS Paint.CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS -- Last seen inside Habshi Restaurant, an Ethiopian fine-dining restaurant and bar in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Natalie Schultz went missing after leaving partly through her father's funeral in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. H. Rudolf Schultz was murdered last month in a car bombing outside the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for which terrorist organization Hataf claimed responsibility. A waitress placed Schultz at a table with a pale-faced young woman who had long, black hair and colored red bangs. The same waitress recalled that Schultz addressed her companion as "Erin," but the other woman has not been identified.
Schultz was inebriated by the time she and her companion left Habshi, the waitress, who asked not to be identified, remembered. The waitress -- or perhaps Schultz's companion -- was the last person known to have seen Schultz before both women disappeared without a trace. A call to the hotel where Schultz was staying confirmed that Schultz never returned to her hotel. Family in the area did not know Schultz's plans and none had seen Schultz. Her daughter, Sofia Antonucci, reported a conversation with her mother less than ten minutes after the still from a surveillance camera just outside Habshi (see right). In this conversation, Schultz claimed to be "in a situation and also drunk." All calls to Schultz's phone go directly to voicemail. The voicemail box is full. No calls, emails, or text messages have been returned.
It is known that after her father's death, Hataf offered a bounty of approximately 1.7 million TCD ($2 million USD) for Schultz's death. This was in response to her work with both the FBI and more recently, the LDA, in capturing or eliminating key Hataf leaders. Some speculate that someone decided to cash in the bounty by killing Schultz, but there is no evidence that she is dead. A phone call to the Hataf public relations office was answered with denial of any involvement in Schultz's disappearance. For now, the case is being treated as a missing person. Anyone with any information about Schultz's whereabouts is asked to report the information to the Terran Intelligence Bureau or the Langaran Defense Agency.

The Screen flickers briefly, displaying a well-lit studio. The presenter sits behind a curved, polished metal desk, with the EGNN logo displayed in the centre. The presenter appears to be human, dressed in a dark suit with a crimson tie. “Fighting continues on Tarkan as the population rise up against the security forces protecting military instillations. The demonstrations that started a month ago as the outpouring of dissatisfaction at the general state of affairs in the Confederacy, have become heated anti-war protests, with many of the rioters taking up arms.
We now move to the EGNN correspondent in Tarkan's capital, Oriolis, who has been observing the demonstrations.”
The screen behind the presenter fades from the EGNN logo to shaky camera footage of a city in turmoil . Over the voice of a scared looking Tiresian in a flak-jacket, the ratter of gunfire can be heard echoing around the street, accompanied by the shouts and screams of the rioters.
“The City really has gone to hell in a handcart, Mina. The riots started to get more violent in the early hours of yesterday morning, with protesters hurling stones and other missiles at the security forces.”
The Tiresian ducks reflexively, as a long burst of gunfire rips into the night, the muzzle flash visible. An armoured body-guard is visible in the background, an assault-rifle pulled into his shoulder, finger hovering over the trigger. “Things came to ahead a few miles east of here, when military personnel protecting the city's armoury fired into the crowd to disperse them, and killed five peop--”
The reporter is flung sideways by a burly bodyguard, his assault rifle blazing away at an unseen enemy. The camera is dropped and falls on its side. From this angle, the viewer can see the feet of the bodyguard, shell casings tumbling to the ground from his weapon, the pale sunlight glinting off the brass.
The picture cuts back to the studio, where the presenter hastily regains his composure, the colour returning to his face. He turns to his right as the camera pans backwards, revealing a perky blonde woman, in a well-cut cream suit sitting beside him.“With me, is Natasha Laine, a political analyst who has been studying the situation in the Confederacy. Over to you Natasha.”
The woman begins to speak in clipped, politically correct English, with the distinct accent of an off-worlder. “There is proposal in the Confederacy senate for military action to be taken to stop the rioters and restore order, however there is much opposition. The Hundred Lions Confederacy is much divided in its political structure. After its many years in peaceful isolation, with its sizeable military able to sweep any disturbances under the carpet, the Confederacy met the outside world.
The hard-line among the Council took this to heart, and began aggressive expansion, forming ties with UCON and others. When the call to aid to defeat the Belkans went out, and much of the fleet left, the Pirates and smugglers resumed their illicit dealings, and the local defence forces were unable to keep them at bay, leading to a massive increase in crime, nationwide. Naturally, the civilian populace, and the more inward looking politicians find this neglect unacceptable, and the clamour for the recall of the military has been massive.
The future for the Confederacy is uncertain, with worlds like Tarkan already in full revolt, it is likely that this unrest will spread across the nation, and the government will be unable to prevent this with half its military in the Claw with UCON, and the other half dithering about which side to join. In my opinion, it is likely that without outside intervention, the Confederacy will fall to its people within six months, and it will become insular once again. "
The camera pans away from Natasha as she finishes speaking, and back to the presenter, zooming in on his pale features as his hand falls away from his earpiece. “And now, breaking news. EGNN has received some exclusive footage from an attack on a group of free-traders heading back from the eastern arm. The station has issued a warning to viewers with a sensitive disposition. This footage contains scenes of extreme violence.”
The screen behind the presenter fades to black, then picking up the shaky footage from a helmet-cam. The wearer looks down and racks the slide on a battered Armex 450 rifle, his breathing audible through his headset. The corridor is dark and poorly lit, the strip lights flickering ominously. A hiss of static precedes a breathless voice over the radio.
“Squads Alpha through Foxtrot, converge on sixth sector. We gotta hull breach. Scanners show movement..”
The camera shakes as the operator pulls an oxygen mask down over his face, pausing to slap a fresh 10mm magazine against his helmet. He looks over his shoulder, the light mounted next to the camera illuminating four other scared looking marines, all carrying similar assault-rifles.
“You heard control, get your asses moving.”
The operator's voice is loud but there is a hint of how he really feels. The squad set off down the corridor, torches swinging in time with their movements. The radio crackles again, the voice sounding more anxious and frantic.
“Hurry your ass up Charlie squad, looks like our visitors are hostile. I can't raise Alpha or Delta.”
The operator's pace picks up, the heavy rifle swinging from side to side. The distant sound of gunfire echoes down the passage, accompanied by primal roars and the ringing of running feet. In the background of the audio, the faint curse of “Ohshit, what the hell was that.”can be heard.
The operator pauses, raising his arm, bringing his squad to a halt. The gunfire sounds much closer now, every shot reverberating around the metal walls of the corridor. The operator brings his rifle into his shoulder and peeks tentatively around the corner.
The sight that greets him would make even the most hardened veteran gag. Human blood covers the walls, great loops of arterial spray decorating the ceiling like some child's painting. Grouped around a weirdly circular hole in the far wall, are what appears to be the remains of four or five humans, dismembered and bloody, their ruined forms covered in bite marks.
The sounds of a person vomiting can be heard, as the camera operator tears himself away from the gory spectacle, leaning back against the wall, gripping his rifle for security.
“Keep it together boys. We gotta keep moving. See if we can't find what did this to Alpha.”
Boldly, he checks his rifle again, racking the pump-action on the under-barrel shotgun and springs around the corner, keeping his head up and away from the human viscera that litters the floor. He picks his way down the corridor, head scanning from side to side, rifle pulled into his hip. Behind him, the footsteps of his squad echo around.
As he reaches the breach in the wall, a roar bursts from the other end of the passageway. The camera jerks violently, bluring as the operator swings around, the throaty roar of four rifles going off in unison causing the sound to white out. As the picture steadies, a mass of hulking shapes become visible. As the shaking torches and muzzle flash banish the darkness, it is easy to see that these figures are far from human.
The Operator steadies his rifle on the lead shape, the torch falling on its flat, elongated snout, its fangs flashing as it bellows a battle-cry. In its hand, a massive cleaver glows iridescently, the power-field shimmering in the dark. It springs forward, too fast for even the camera to track, pouncing on one of the troopers behind the camera. The heavy blade slashes downward, severing the rifle arm, just as the creature bends down, tearing the throat from the marine in a geyser of arterial spray.
The camera whites out as the operator opens up with his rifle, blowing the creature against the wall in a shower of high-velocity rounds. A bellowing cry to his right causes him to turn, but not fast enough, as a second creature leaps on him, throwing him to the blood soaked ground.
The camera rolls away as his helmet comes free, the picture finally steadying, marred by a smear of dark blood. Electric green flashes illuminate the dark ceiling of the corridor, accompanied by the screams as the rest of the squad are brought down by their attackers blades.
The picture cuts back to the studio, where the presenter sits, ashen faced, tears seeping from the corner of his eyes, causing the make-up plastered to his face pre-show to run. “This concludes our broadcast for tonight, and our prayers go out to the families of the men and women on those ships.
The picture fades out to the EGNN logo.

Soviet resignation sparks Oriyak advance into Region 67

REGION 67; The Soviet military, known amongst the Oriyak Republics as GORE, has launched a preemptive strike into the barely occupied Colonial Sphere area known as Region 67. Suspected to contain several hundred inhabitable planets, along with thousands of other bodies, the armed forces that are deploying into the Sphere will be pressed to quickly route out no only insurgent forces, but with the possible presence of Oriyak soldiers joining the conflicts that have spread to nearly 20 worlds, many commanders are beginning to quickly redact their doctrine.
Across 3,000 explored locations, including more than 300 planets and bodies of interest, the Coalition has distributed the majority of a 25 million fighting force in the hopes forming a defensive line within the Region to withstand a possible Soviet attack. Under the administration of the Kobivek regime, the Soviet State had bolstered it's military power in the past several years. At the moment, there is confirmation throughout the Counter-Balance network that the GORE has accumulated a considerable force for the expedition into the Region. With numerical superiority, the Soviets have reinforced the dedication to independence with outspoken lack of consideration from international pressure.

The screen flashes for a moment to show the logo for the Aschen Colonial News Network, after a brief moment, a familiar news anchor was seen sitting at a smoothly polished metal desk, clearing his throat he spoke up.

The Drulovic Recordings
Audio transcript:
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: I'll have tea and some fruit brought up, but make yourselves comfortable. Your Marines don't need their weapons here, Chairman Cain, but if it makes you feel better.
REMEROV TALKESKI: So sorry for holding you all
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: I bet Nigra finds it upsetting to see me in uniform again, I'm the only one that can fly the Aurora class. Prison time allowed me to reflect on my genealogy, I find it fairly impressive that Naazmat managed to pin charges, but no matter.
HELENA CAIN: It does make me feel better, we're well aware of Terra's disposition.
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: Ahh, pleased to meet you. Are you hungry?
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: Please help yourselves.
REMEROV TALKESKI: Nice party trick, I see.
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: A fraction of my power.
HELENA CAIN: The Aschen High Space Command cannot babysit Terra all the time, whenever we turn our gaze one of our people comes under attack or winds up dead. The Terrans need to crack down on ruffians or we'll gladly help them do it. You need better security, if LDA Agents are turning up overpowered and missing. And you, what interest does the Democratic Coalition have in Terra?”
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: My dear, it is my third day. I assure you it is my priority to protect all of us from terrorists and criminals. I have the time and the resources to ensure a repeat incident will not happen. I think you know neither of us would like that very much at all. It's a pleasure to meet you in person, Mr. Remerov.
REMEROV TALKESKI: As it is to you. What interests? We have many interests, the primary being the removal of the terrorist organization Hataf, something I believe quite a few people are currently trying to deal with. They have been a problem for a lot of nations for far too long, and we would rather they ceased being that very soon.
HELENA CAIN: We've been at war with Hataf for the latter part of the last few decons. Where one head is removed, others will sprout. We have agents in Hataf, and turncoats from Hataf, not only us but the Empire. But this meeting was called because of the media atmosphere on your worlds. Peace with the Aschen? Your nations were quite outspoken against us.
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: I'm sick and tired of Terra's defiance, if it weren't for Roslin, we would have smashed the Terran Liberation Front; she's a weak leader.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: It's not very prudent to insult one's superiors, especially in front of those whom one does not trust.
REMEROV TALKESKI: Really? I do believe the DC has only ever spoken out against the Glassing of Terra; we have not been particularly outspoken against you. But regardless of that, the Democratic Coalition has always supported peace in the galaxy. We have always tried to be the least confrontational. Surely our interest in signing a treaty of peace is understandable?
HELENA CAIN: Of course, but your outright support of an illegitimate government founded by rebels and guerillas concerns me. Hataf must be neutralized, but their members can be reformed. Two former high level Hataf agents, working for us. Though we had help turning the younger one. The Inquisition also has in their capture, a high level Hataf named Yamin Noor Attayib. I am sure in the spirit of cooperation, he could be handed over and jointly interrogated.
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: The Inquisition is only interested in forwarding its own goals, when they send someone to Hell, they rarely leave.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: Your President has recognized our government as legitimate, Chairman Cain. Has Mr. Noor Attayib given you any useful information? In my experience, true fanatics are often reticent to share any information. Believe me, I've conducted more than my fair share of interrogations.
REMEROV TALKESKI: Illegitimate? But surely not. We supported a fledgling government which was recognized by the entire Tripartite alliance. Therefore completely legitimate in my understandings. And we too have Hataf prisoners. Although we hadn't thought about reforming yet. We know who the Head of the Snake is at the moment. I'm sure we can help each other to remove them, don't you agree?
HELENA CAIN: I don't give a damn what President Roslin decreed, she's frakking lucky she's not staring at her own warrant. You remember the Tauron Uprising. If you've read my dossier, you would know I'm a Tauron. We don't recognize your government. Roslin committed political suicide when she acknowledged the Terran Government, and the Taiyou Empress was bullied into it by the Coalition. The President committed political suicide. The Confederation is divided. The Tauron Nation and our allies do not recognize your government, but we're forced to. Soon we'll have our sovereignty though.
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: Caprica's days of doing business on behalf for all of us are numbered. As far as Hataf, the Inquisition has their eyes on the Hataf leader, or so rumor has it.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: I knew her father quite well. Yet, you are here, Chairman Cain. And unless I am sorely mistaken, I certainly exist. You may choose not to recognize that fact, but your choice will not alter the reality. Tea, anyone?
REMEROV TALKESKI: Yes, I would love some tea right now.
HELENA CAIN: We as Taurons hardly recognize our own government. We don't recognize the Confederation, and maybe if you paid a little attention to history, Tauron was subjugated. Our forefathers died so that we could be ruled by the Caprica City gang. One day... What do you know about the Tauron people? Educate our guests, if you could.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: My dear, I'm not a history teacher. Besides, it is a well known fact that the history of an oppressed people can never be truly captured in the words of an outsider.
REMEROV TALKESKI: Ah, but all this discussion, we appear to be finding ourselves on a tangent. I believe what we came here to talk about wasn't the tragic history of your people. We are here to talk diplomacy, and how to destroy Hataf.
HELENA CAIN: Gia ti̱n enarmónisi̱ me tous anthró̱pous, prépei na gno̱rízete ta vásaná tous.
RAPHAEL McGREGOR: Id satis est. Alia vice Helena.
HELENA CAIN: You're right, the history of an oppressed people isn't very important, especially when it pertains to a possible alliance. I think we're done here, I'm not in a position to commence negotiations, perhaps a recess until an actual Caprican ambassador arrives? I'm done, I'm not qualified for this.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: Who said anything about 'important' or 'not important'? My dear, I am here only as a representative of Terra. Only Mr. Haima makes alliances. Do you like the fruit, Chairman Cain? If I had known you were coming, I would have invited you for dinner. It's always polite to asks guests to stay for dinner. But no matter. You may take a basket of fruit with you when you go, if you wish. Mr. Remerov, you say that you wished to talk about diplomacy? Yes? I am sure Mr. Haima simply neglected to clear his schedule for you. Excuse me. It seems everything is urgent these days.
REMEROV TALKESKI: I have already talked to Mr. Haima about a treaty, as you must know. I was talking of the Aschen here. I did not imagine that they would take the diplomacy down onto Terra. I apologize for what has happened here; the only contact we'd had was to try and arrange a meeting to formalize a treaty between the DC and the Aschen.
MOLLEM McGREGOR: As párei aftó lamvánetai mérimna grígora , prépei na kinithoúme pros ta emprós píso sto spíti. Aftá ta elastiká Terrans mou. Greetings, Director, Ambassador, I am Sire Mollem McGregor, and I will be overseeing the proceedings. I carry with me the authority of the President of the Confederation and am qualified to make diplomatic decisions.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: Oh? Well, please help yourself to some fruit. These were grown specially in an orchard in which I have an interest. Please continue.
HELENA CAIN: Eínai adýnamos kai pro̱tógoni, kai ischyrízontai óti boreí na diefthýnei tin voúlisi ton megalýteron ethnón, an kai ópos Róslin ageládes stis apaitíseis tous, elpízo o néos próedros den tha.
REMEROV TALKESKI: Greetings Sire. Hopefully you were know the reasoning for this diplomatic mission. And I sincerely hope we can come to an agreement on this.
MOLLEM McGREGOR: Tomas Vergis, egó̱ to chéri diálexe ton eaf̱tó mou ton ídio, af̱tós eínai énas ischyrós yposti̱riktís tis Gi̱s, tha odi̱gí̱sei óchi móno Tauron, allá to sýnolo ti̱s Synomospondías se mia néa epochí̱. Terra tha eínai sýntoma antikeímeno, me tétoio trópo ó̱ste na mi̱n prokaleí ta álla éthni̱. Yes I trust that we can come to an agreement. I find it odd that the Democratic Coalition is allowed to maintain a military installation in Terra's orbit, despite the outspoken demands that all military presence be withdrawn. Odd... Regardless, as it stands, our government is in a transitional period; there will be a change of leadership.
REMEROV TALKESKI: That was .... A very unique deal, with certain conditions. Of which I am not at liberty to disclose. However, you can be sure that it means harm to no-one but the terrorists that make Terra their home. However, neither my country's nor yours past treaties bear on this situation unless they provide conflicting loyalties. This is not a meeting to discuss past, this is about a treaty.
HELENA CAIN: O i̱líthios adynateí na katanoí̱sei ti̱ sovaróti̱ta ti̱s katástasi̱s eínai étoimos na eisélthei. Roslin's policies are what are at stake. Though you may not be at liberty to disclose the terms of this treaty, I will bring this to the table. Parliament is floating a bill that will revoke the terms of the Terran Treaty and render Terra once more under the jurisdiction of the Confederation, the DC having a military occupation and the Terran National Government a rebellious entity that will be, should this bill pass, dealt with in the harshest terms our military can put forth. It would be in both Terra's and the DC's best interest to appease the voices in our government, lest the Local Region be consumed in war. It would be in everyone's best interest to avoid war.
MOLLEM McGREGOR: The terms of an peace treaty will be simple. The defiance will end; it will simply give my Government more cause to flood this place with troops and ships. Secondly, Haima is to resign immediately and free elections will be held.
REMEROV TALKESKI: Yes. No one wants the destruction that is war, of course. But I fail to see where we might be able to change your Parliament's mind. The DC have stepped in to support Terra; it is too late for us to just revoke that and vanish. We are commited. And so, short of planting spies and rumours, or mind-interfacing the parliament members to not pass this, we can merely hope to settle this peacefully. The government is a different problem. We simply cannot comply to demands to allow Aschen control of Terra, I am sorry. What the Terran government chooses to do will not be influenced by either the DC or you.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: I'm sure you are aware, Chairman Cain, that no bill passed in the Aschen parliament is legally valid--or legitimate--on Terra.
[UNIDENTIFIED AIDE ENTERS, TAKES NOTE FROM DRULOVIĆ]
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: I apologize for that interruption, but it seems I had to cancel another appointment because of this... unexpected engagement. I think, Mr. McGregor, that the defiance now is yours. Pear, anyone?
MOLLEM McGREGOR: You're right, technically it's not legally valid, which is why Parliament is debating a declaration of war against Terra. When the war is won and your world surrenders, our occupation will make it legally valid. Interplanetary politics, my friend. This isn't some get together in the backyard. When someone wants something they take it. So to make it simple, you're right. It's not valid. We're going to make it valid. And I doubt neither Terra or the DC have the forces here to resist a concentrated, combined arms spearhead against this system. My next term. Terra can have its military, but any projection beyond the Local Region, which could threaten our safety and sovereignty, will be considered saber rattling and Casus bellum for war. Ms. Drulović, are you aware of a man in our history by the name of Willhuff Tarkin?
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: Terms? My dear, it's not very polite to arrive unannounced in a place of government and to issue 'terms' to its occupants. I also wonder, Mr. McGregor, if you have your own reasons for coming, rather than traveling to Wing City on the orders of Parliament alone. War is not a pretty thing.
MOLLEM McGREGOR: I had my own reasons, yes. I was in AXIS last week meeting with the [Taiyou] Empress. She offers her full support to our efforts, so let that stew in your minds. You have something she wants, and I am sure should war happen, she would want what you have. War is not a pretty thing. Wilhuff Tarkin coined our doctrine. "Rule through the fear of force rather than through force itself. If we use our strength wisely, we shall cow thousands of worlds with the example of a select few. These examples would need to be highly visible worlds." Due to the current political climate on Langara, I don't think we would be in any position to commit forces against Hataf unless we're presented with tangible incentive to do so.
REMEROV TALKESKI: I came here hoping to make a treaty, and possibly peace. It seems we must degenerate into thinly veiled threats, so obvious that it wasn't worth veiling them. The DC have vested too much, as I've said, and we are not traitorous enough to withdraw it at the first sign of danger. My only warning will be this. Do not think that we did not think of all the possible outcomes.
ARIANNE DRULOVIĆ: Are you sure you can't be bothered to try any pears, Mr. McGregor? I assure you they're quite delectable, and not poisoned or otherwise tampered with. No? Mr. Haima prefers the apples, but personally, the pears are my favorite. If there's nothing else, Mr. McGregor, I think it best you consider our hospitality extended to its limits. Threats of war can ruin a truly beautiful day.
MOLLEM McGREGOR: Director, you will come to learn that I do not make threats. My demands have been made clear. You may choose to follow them or disregard them at your own peril. Mr. Vergis, however, is not as forgiving as I am, and I trust that he will be met with warmth and kindness when he visits Terra to meet with all of the Terran Government. Mr. Remerov, I understand the DC has invested quite a bit, but I also understand you are wary about a two, maybe three front war. If Terra can be... encouraged to come to its senses, we can all prosper. I won't be departing Terra quite yet. I am due for a tour of the Middle-East.

Roger; "Ladies and gentlemen thank you for joining us tonight, we have a very important show this evening -- what you just heard was a transmission from the Terran director of intelligence, a woman named Arianne Drulovic -- Drulovic, has anyone heard of her? She's got more balls than an Azrik if you ask me. What you just heard was the proceedings of a 'diplomatic' conversation between the fascist Aschen government, the Terran intelligence director and a valiant defender of Terran independence -- Remerov Telkeski , of the Democratic Coalition. With me today, ladies and gentlemen, I'm glad to welcome our Prime Minister to the show, Ryan Rohnfeld.
<Applause>
Rohnfeld; "Thank you for inviting me to the show, Roger. You and I have always been goods friends and I've been a big fan of the show, I'm honored to be here."
Roger; " -- But let's cut to the chase, Prime Minister. This is an outrage, what -- what is this exactly, what is your professional opinion of this recording?"
Rohnfeld; "Professional? It's international bullying. I've listened to it several times now, the Apparatus has made certain of it's validity."
Roger; "And it is a valid transmission, this is a legitimate Aschen ... strong-arm to once again subjugate a people who haven't even left their own planet."
Rohnfeld; "That is correct, very correct -- "
Roger; "So your administration has made such great effort to increases ties with the Confederation, you've been getting into bed with these conniving worms and what have you gotten to show for it, Ryan?"
Rohnfeld; "In honesty? Nothing, absolutely nothing. They're disrespectful, arrogant -- I'm sickened in their presence."
Roger; "And what of this now? You're going to turn coat and suddenly take charge? They violated international law -- assuming that their little government could blatantly lay claim to territory that has never, and will never, belong to them ... "
Rohnfeld; "Correct, Roger, that's what my job entails. I apologize to the Scatterran people -- to all the people of this galaxy -- for attempting to pacify the relations with the Aschen and the rest of the galaxy. Inadvertently, I was too blinded by the fake peace they were waving to see them for the rats they truly are, and for that I can only ask for forgiveness."
Roger; "Admirable, Prime Minister, very valorous. You've waved around words before ... I know for a fact the Aschen will be stupid enough to take this to the next level, armed conflict --"
Rohnfeld; "And they would be wiped from the face of this galaxy if they're willing to endanger the mutual peace that we've worked so hard to construct."
Roger; "Oh, and what of the Taiyou?"
Rohnfeld; "Do you doubt your own military, Roger? I recall you serving in the Apparatus."
Roger; "Not one bit, sir. Not one bit at all."
Rohnfeld; "The Apparatus was given this message before I was -- eight hours before."
Roger; "Well obviously, the Confederation assumed we would take a neutral -- or even supporting stance of this. Do you have anything to say?"
Rohnfeld; "Yes ... can ... can I curse on here?"
Roger; "Haha! Certainly, Prime Minister, go ahead."
Rohnfeld; "They've obviously got their head so far up their ass they're catching their own dreams in their head. UCON would never sanction any reclamation of Terran space or the Local Region whatsoever. This isn't the Colonial Era and the Confederation is not the greatest power in this galaxy. They would be very wise to reconsider their opinion, I would pray that their new leader doesn't make the ignorant mistake of trifling with the Coalition or the Terrans."
Roger; "You and me both! I know for a fact this move won't sit well with just the Coalition, either. What of the Hundred Lions?"
Rohnfeld; "Lionsmen are a breed of their own, undaunted by Aschen bullying. With support from both the Coalition and the Hundred Lions Confederacy, Terra will have no worries against Aschen prejudice and arrogance."
Roger; "Thank you, Prime Minister, for your time and word -- you said that the Military Council received this message before you, and I'm curious -- do we have that press conference, it was around 2 this morning? Play it."
MILITARY COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
Reporter; "Admiral Savage! What is the official Military Council statement on this recording?"
Savage, J.; "Blatant imperialism -- under Article D65 the Apparatus has been organized to wartime readiness. The Local Region is on the conflict map -- the Cage, armed to the teeth to immediately defend any outright assault on Terran space or any peaceful locations. I will not lie to you, the Confederation has overstepped it's boundaries and will not be able to simply shrug this off and get away with it."
Reporter; "So what are you saying? Under the Declaration, the Apparatus will need complete compliance with all international groups -- minus the Confederation of course -- the Terrans, the Hundred Lions, et cetera?"
Vysolov, T.; "Outside of the Local Region, the Apparatus exercises the right to strike anywhere and at any time -- regardless of international disposition or else. The Aschen won't pull punches with the Terrans, they should expect nothing different."
Reporter; "General Gunn! General Gunn! What is your opinion on the matter?"
Gunn, X.; "You want my opinion?"
Reporter; "Yes sir, we have the censorship on standby."
<Laughs>
Gunn. X; "They're six feet away from opening one big can of f*%&ing whoop-ass."

The screen once more flashes, as several Aschen channels begin broadcasting to show an address being made by a clearly Tauron man. Tomas Vergis. His attire was a humble suit, nothing fancy, the Tauron tattoos visible on his wrists and hands. Behind him was an idling fireplace, which lapped at the brick and the crackling of wood seemed to echo in the office, as he folded his hands into his lap.
Tomas Vergis wrote:Greetings people of the Confederation, people at home and abroad. My name is Tomas Vergis, the new President of the Aschen Confederation. I've been going over various dossiers regarding the state of the Galaxy, and the state of the Local region and I dare say that I am quite appalled. I am apalled at the statements made by the Sire, and two of our most respected Military leaders, and I assure the Galactic Community that they will be dealt with... severely.
I want to formally apologize, and debunk any claims that any declarations have been made, all we want is peace and prosperity for all life, and I would like to extend a gift to Terra as a token of our humility. Within a month's time, the Terrans will be shipped five tons of Trinnium Ingot, in which to develop and construct starships of their own. Additionally I will ship one ton of Naquadah, in which they will be able to build their vessels.
Naturally the Terrans would dictate the terms of a treaty governing conduct around Their world, the words of the Sire and the Chairman are borderline treason, so I would like to reiterate that they will be dealt with quite severely. I dare say that any Tauron separatists will be dealt with quickly, the unity of this Galaxy and the integrity of peace and prosperity will not be compromised.
I will extend out a hand to UCON, whom is right in their assumptions, but I wouldn't take the words of these individuals to reflect Aschen Policy, we are working tirelessly every day to ensure peace and stability, and there will not, and never will be any military presence demonstrating hostility within or even close to the Local Region.
I will warn UCON however, that any attacks into Aschen space, will be dealt with swiftly and severely, with the full brunt of our Military might, if you wish to escalate this into war, then reluctantly, we will naturally be forced to defend ourselves. But war is never pleasant, and I hope this never escalates into war. On any front, Terra, wherever. I am a peaceful leader, with peaceful intentions. And I humbly apologize for any distrust those statements have stirred up, and happily retract them. The Terrans have a right to feel safe in this galaxy, and we as a people understand their plight for sovereignty.
In light of the recent threats of violence however, Parliament has voted to suspend the Quorum indefinitely, and I as a leader have been granted emergency political powers, bypassing Political red tape, and the utilization of the Oversector Protocol has begun... and my first act with these powers, is to purge all corrupt officials from this government, and institute whole, moral individuals. But our downfall will not be instilled by corrupt individuals at the highest echelons of power. This Purge will be effective immediately, Sheila Nagala, Fleet Admiral of the 1st Home Fleet, will be appointed Chairman of the Aschen High Space Command, and Sire McGregor will be suspended from office, effective immediately, I will appoint a new Tauron Sire when the time is right.
Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for your time, and may the Gods bless the Confederation
The screen then fades to black, normal programming resuming.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE TERRAN NATIONAL GOVERNMENT
We will not cow to Aschen threats, implied or otherwise. We do not accept in any way or form any offer of aid, material, goods, or support from any entity associated with the Aschen Government. We eschew the formation of an alliance with the Aschen peoples. Their repeated demands to exert dominance over a now sovereign Terra will be met with steadfast refusal to acknowledge or accept Aschen overlords.
No Aschen is welcome on Terra. No person affiliated with, belonging to, or representing any portion of the Aschen government, either in its prefectures, its confederation-wide Parliament, its armed forces, its ministries, or its subsidiary entities will be permitted to enter Terran space or planetary holdings. The legitimacy of any declaration concerning the jurisdiction or powers of the Terran National Government, which is issued by an Aschen entity, will not be recognized, either by Terrans or the international community. Terra is sovereign and a legitimate state under international and intergalactic law.
Words are easy to utter, but rarely are they supported by actions. President Tomas Vergis's offering of Aschen resources and materials to us will not be accepted. We will not trade our freedom for goods. We will not sell our independence for pretty words. We absolutely and entirely repudiate any Aschen offer of peace so long as it is merely a honey-coated cloak over the Aschen agenda, which has been stated on numerous occasions, to overrun, conquer, and reclaim Terra as Aschen territory.
Peace shall be sought on its own terms. The people of Terra do not wish to see their government entrapped in entangling alliances unnecessary for the preservation of its own sovereignty and prosperity. The will of the people is clear. Today, tomorrow, and forever, there will be no submission to Aschen dominancy, however it is expressed and however its people try to force it over Terra.
If the Aschen wish to exert their power and make a declaration of war in response to Terran self-determination, that is their right as a sovereign nation entity. But be aware that Terra is not alone or ostracized from the international or intergalactic community. Military operations will be met with military force. If agents of the Aschen government, members of the Aschen military, or officials of the Aschen government are found to be operating in their official capacity in Terran space or within Terran planetary holdings, these actions will be construed as an act of war.
The Terran Intelligence Bureau, under the leadership of Arianne Drulović, will identify and eliminate all foreign agents or individuals suspected of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of Terran sovereignty or the allies of the Aschen. There can be no uncertain terms when it comes to the preservation of our sovereignty. We will not cow to the demands of other nations. We will not accede to conditions or terms meted by the representatives of other nations. We will not accept foreign military or intelligence presence on our soil, and operatives found will be terminated, civilian or military. This is your warning. We will not be trifled with.
Terrans, protect our sovereignty.

The Screen flickers briefly, displaying a well-lit studio. The presenter sits behind a curved, polished metal desk, with the EGNN logo displayed in the centre. The presenter appears to be human, dressed in a dark suit with a crimson tie.
“Today, we join a nation united by hatred. Over the past month, the Politicos within the Confederacy have fired up the propaganda machine churning out a wealth of posters, fliers and radio broadcasts in response to a communication received by Confederacy intelligence from a source they chose not to reveal.”
The presenter takes a breath, and taps a button, playing a sound-byte of a conversation between the Aschen, and a woman identifiable as the director of intelligence on Terra.
“Naturally, this has been seen as a massive betrayal by the Galactic community as a whole, with a public outcry from the UCON, and the threat of war on the horizon. On Tarkan, a world that a few weeks ago was expiriencing massive riots and unrest has been turned around, both sides reconsiling their differences, in the face of a common enemy. We now go live to our reporter on Tarkan, Sai'ira Nach-Moltoch, for a first hand glimpse of the demonstrations.”
The camera cuts to a willowy Tiresian, dressed in a smart suit, holding a microphone close to her mouth. “The scene outside the presidential palace on Tarkan is a mix of rage, redirected from the Confederacy leadership to the Aschen, and of sheer, outspoken joy.”
The reporter turns, the camera moving up over her shoulder, showing a street full of people, fists pumping the air, the air-shattering report of a gunshot ringing out over raised voices. Banners bearing slogans like “DIE ASCHEN SCUM” or “THIS ONES FOR TERRA” flutter like the war-banners of some feudal army above the mass.
As the camera crew move down the street, crude models dressed in Aschen uniforms hang from the street-lights, their forms torn apart by gunfire. A reveller, his head covered by a gleaming lion-head leaps in front of the picture, rapidly discharging a weapon into the air, the shell casings bouncing off the camera lens. He has just enough time to scream “For the Lions!!” Before being tackled to the ground by black armoured security operatives.
The reporter turns back to the camera, a look of fervour in her eyes. “Recruitment into the army across the Confederacy has spiralled to massive numbers, and I would like to wish our brave boys good luck, and fight on.”
The camera cuts back to the studio, where the presenter sits, the screen behind him switching to an image of the Confederacy flag, with “FIGHT FOR JUSTICE” stamped under it in massive black capitals.“And now, breaking news from Wing City on Terra. Our foreign correspondent Ghelor Macha has the latest.”
Today, the sounds of automatic gunfire could be heard across the more affluent parts of Wing City, as Embassey Row suffered one of the most brutal attacks since the Rouge Shogunate set up the deathcamps, and people were snatched from the streets by armed patrols.
The fighting began in the early hours of this morning, when a large, unmarked van was spotted outside the Hundred Lions Confederacy Embassy. When the guards went to investigate the vehicle, a dozen heavily armed soldiers burst out, proudly displaying the Aschen insignia on their uniforms. The guards were rapidly dispatched by the soldiers, who then headed into the embassy. For the next hour, jagged bursts of gunfire ripped from the building, and the sirens of security forces could be heard. By 11am, over two hundred police and military personnel had grouped on the wide boulevard around the embassy, as the gun-men dug into the baroque building, with several hostages.
As the sun touched the clouds crimson, it was clear a stand-off was developing, as the police forces were unable to enter the embassy, without express permission from the Confederacy. When, finally the WCPD gained entry to the embassy, they found it completely deserted. The attackers had escaped into a network of escape tunnels used by the Ambassador and official personnel in times of crisis. All the hostages were found dead, alongside one gun-man, who had been dispatched by one of the special forces members who guarded the embassy.
In an exclusive report to this station, an unnamed WCPD source explained that the body had been turned over to NAVSPEC for identification, as it seemed to carry a number of Aschen insignias. The source made it clear to say that in no way was the WCPD implicating the Aschen in the attack.
It remains unclear who was behind this attack, but it is likely that the reaction in the Confederacy will be massive.
