The Chase ( )

This is a one on one with Jeffrey! and I. Please don't post here.

Full Name: Natsumi Yamazaki
Rank: Chunin
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Place of Birth: Hidden Sand village
Now lives: Hidden Leaf village

Image

Natsumi was called in with her squad. Her squad also labeled as squad two consisted of her, Kazuki, and Riku. They were all comrades since they were formed as a squad back seven years ago when the graduated from the academy when they were nine. They were a great team together but if apart they weren't great. Kazuki was more into using Ninjutsu while Riku used mostly Taijutsu. Then Natsumi her self used mostly genjutsu. Now not just anyone could pull off genjutsu. It takes great intelligence and chakra control to be able to use genjutsu and use it well because if not done right then the whole genjutsu would not work. Kazuki and Riku though always taught each other how to use the style of jutsu they both used in. Natsumi let Riku teach her some taijutsu. They were all called to go see the Hokage. Once the three of them had made it there joking around and teasing each other they instantly stopped when they got a glare. After awhile they got their mission. It was to go and track down Masaru Hashimoto and bring him back to the leaf village for some reason they weren't told yet. The three then went to pack. The hokage had made Natsumi team leader. Natsumi was waiting there at the main gates for Riku and Kazuki. Once the two had made it they took off to go look in the suggested area.

Jumping from tree to tree they looked around them. It would have been nice to have a member from the Hyuga clan with them so they would have some imput of upcoming things. "Watch out for any traps there may be set up around here." Natsumi said and jumped up higher in the trees looking down and for someone reason she couldn't see anyone around at all. Going deeper into the forest she had a faint idea of what Masaru looked like but she wasn't completely confident on what he did look like. Her and her comrades would just have to figure it out. Soon enough they stopped and went on the ground deciding to scan the place. "Riku you look over near the north of here, Kazuki look around in the east and section and I'll look in the west." The two boys nodded and went off and so did Natsumi. She was looking carefully and she was being silent as a snail but wasn't moving as slow as one.

Masaru Hashimoto
Missing nin. Former Jonin(If I spelled that right.)
19
Male
From Hidden Leaf Village. Non-confrontational, but dangerous when provoked. Proceed with caution.

Image

Masaru frowned as he began to sharpen his knives, he was bored. "Well, if you're so bored, maybe you shouldn't have run away from your village! You would've at least had a mission or something to go on if you'd stayed! But, no you're so stubborn, you had to up and leave because of a simple misunderstanding! Real smart, really!" There is a moment when a man realizes for the first time that he's talking to himself. That moment is priceless if one can manage to even see it once in a lifetime, his eyes widen, he shakes his head and mutters something about not being crazy. True, it's nowhere near the same for every man, but for Masaru Hashimoto, that was exactly what happened. He had never talked to himself before, it was odd, to say the least. A little insane, to be honest, and fucking crazy to go hard on the man.

He stood up from his place and decided to search out the components of a poison he was developing. It was brilliant. If he ever managed to get it right, it would make it so that his victims wouldn't be able to move or make any noise, but they would feel pain. Then they would die a slow, painful death as their bodies began to reject their own blood through their mouth, nose, ears and eyes. He wanted to get it right so badly, that would be fantastic. Yes, he was a sadistic man at times, but it was either never noticed while he still lived in the village, or no one cared because of his accomplishments as a ninja. He really didn't know, nor did he care.

((That's fine, hon.))

Natsumi kept searching her self and she wandered deeper in and out of the range she was supposed to but hey they were looking for a missing ninja of the leaf village. After searching for awhile she was about to give up but she heard something but not just anything a voice. Natsumi instantly used her chakra control and silently climbed up the tree and sat on a very high branch. She looked down below and saw a man down there. No one else was around so the guy must have been talking to himself. Unfortunately she never heard a word he said. Soon enough the man had gotten up and started to search around for something. If only she knew what it was. Natsumi wasn't about to use a genjutsu on the man because she didn't know who it was and it wouldn't be very nice to put an innocent man in a genjutsu. Natsumi had to get closer. She should have gone back and got her comrades but she couldn't lose sight of him for it might be Masaru.

Natsumi leaped to another tree swiftly and silently lowered her self down in the tree to try and see better. Once she got closer she knew it was Masaru. The missing ninja that the leaf village has been looking for. Surprisingly Masaru had never changed much in appearance which was a good thing. Now Natsumi just had to be able to get down there and silently so he wouldn't get suspicious. Natsumi slowly lowered her self and made no sound as she made it in the bushes. At this moment genjutsu would do her no good. He'd be stuck in a trance and she wouldn't be able to talk to him and get answers. Natsumi really was intelligent but at this moment she couldn't ponder a plan maybe she had to pull at Kazuki and go wing it. Yea that's what she had to do. Natsumi focused her chakra and blended in well with the nature around her. She then started to silently move on the earth floor getting closer. Soon enough she slowly stood up and swiftly ran up behind him and held one of her kunai's against his throat she wouldn't hurt him though unless he started to threat her. "I'm not going to hurt you Masaru.." She said quietly into his ear.

Masaru blinked a few times. Had he just been caught? How did that happen? He made a metal note to pay more attention to his surroundings out here and with a slightly condescending smiled he said, "Oh? You're not? How do I know that, hm? It's hard to trust a person's word when they're holding a kunai to your throat." The smiled melted off his face as he asked, "I'm guessing the Leaf Village wants me?" He could've guessed that much on his own, honestly, but he felt the need to ask, for some reason.

He reached to touch the kunai knife and said, "This this is making me uncomfortable. You have me, must you press this against my throat?" He was always one for theatrics and being dramatic, really. He was always one t go to great lengths to get a knife away from his skin, he hated the feeling. Weakness. It was even worse that it was a girl pressing the blade against his neck. Pathetic. Had he really sunken that low? Gotten that rusty? He had only left a week ago, were his abilities leaving him that quickly? No. She had simply caught him off guard. It wouldn't happen again. Ever.

When Masaru spoke Natsumi grinned. "But if I pull the kunai away then you'll probably get away and I can't afford that to happen." Natsumi said in a hushed tone near his ears. "Even if you try to run away I'll trap you in my genjutsu." Natsumi said grinning. She loosened her hold of the kunai so it was only inches from her skin to make it a little more comfortable. "I can't harm you, the Leaf Village needs you alive. Yes indeed they want you and it's my mission to bring you back so the Hokage could have a word with you." Natsumi said.

She grinned at a new thought that came to mind. "You must have been a fairly sloppy Jonin if you didn't realize I was here. Sad to know you a Jonin was out witted by a chunin." She said smirking now. Natsumi probably should have started to lead him back to the others so she could get him back to the Village but not yet Natsumi liked to mess around a bit. "So Masaru I hear from many shinobi in the Village that they want you to go back and that they need your skills...But I don't seemed convinced because if you couldn't sense a basic thing such as I did then that's sad. Maybe you should return to being a Genin, Jonin just doesn't seem to fit you well enough." Natsumi said smiling brightly at him. She now moved the kunai a bit further from his throat but not too far.

Masaru rolled his eyes, Of course I want to get away. "But what makes you think I would try and run?" He let a big breath out from his mouth and said, "The Hokage?" His interest was peaked, certainly. "He probably just wants to scold me for running away. I have no intention of going back. Not with you, or anyone else, for that matter." He crossed his arms and waited for her to get a little to confident in herself. Then he would be able to do his thing. You know, maybe.

His eye twitched at her second comment, "You simply caught me off guard. Happens to everyone." This girl was starting to have fun with this, maybe a little to much fun. He liked that, a lot. He guessed he would be able to make a move soon. Maybe not to free himself, but that wasn't always his goal. He scoffed, "That would want me back. Is there some kind of shortage of medical nins or something? Oh, and, for the record, the fact that you were able to sneak up on me, a Jonin, speaks wonderfully of your skills as a Chunin." He said the word as if it left a bitter taste in his mouth. Then he added, "Everyone has their off days, I'd like to see you ready and on guard every single day." He added extra emphasis with every word, making sure every syllable was pronounced to accentuate how annoying her bragging was. Then he pulled one of his own kunai and pressed it against her stomach, "Don't try and move. I will not hesitate to kill you." Then he smirked and said, "My kunai are laced with poison. Even a tiny cut can pump enough into your system to kill you in...Oh...A half hour?" He shrugged slightly, "I'll plunge this right into your stomach if I even feel like you might be trying to use genjutsu on me, by the way."

Natsumi rolled her eyes. "You just don't want to admit that you were caught by a girl." She said. She then thought about what he said. "Well you'd think when you run away from a Village you'd always be on guard every single day." Natsumi said. Natsumi didn't know why she was wasting her time she could just get this mission done with and she'd pass it. "Why of course the Hokage and no he probably won't scold you too much if anything he wants to speak to you about your skills of being a medical ninja." Natsumi said.

That's when he pulled his own kunai out and pressed it against her stomach. When he spoke of how his kunai were different her eyes would have gone wide but she had to expect this from a medical ninja. "Who said I had to use genjutsu on you?" Natsumi asked. "I can just simply use it on my self and disappear somewhere else." She said and then smiled only she knew what exactly was going on. "Surly you wont let me die you are a medical ninja after all you have to have some form of heart in there, anyways even if you try to plunge it into me it won't have effect." Natsumi said and then she vanished. Although it wasn't really her it was just a clone. Natsumi came out and did some form of a low near the ground low kick and knocked him off his feet and too the ground. She then smiled down at him. "How stupid do you think I am? I'm not that stupid to get caught and unable to be hopeless by your poison kunai." Natsumi said laughing slightly but cold heartedly and placed her hands on her hips.

Masaru shook his head, stood up and held up one finger, "First of all, medical ninja's have this habit of only helping their allies. You're not acting like my ally so far." He help up another finger and added, "And you said you'd use a ginjustu on me if I tried to run, by the way. Oh, and I think it's ninjustu that you can use to disappear somewhere else. Just saying." Then he said, "And I don't think you're stupid at all, you know, besides thinking I'm stupid. Don't know what gave you that impression."

Then he got an idea. He smirked and walked over to lean on a tree, "Okay, answer this question for me and if I like your answer, I'll go with you." He waited a second and added, "If I don't like your answer, I'll let you go with your life. If I ask you and you refuse to answer, I'll hunt down your squad mates and kill them." He shrugged, "But so long as you answer, you have nothing to lose, right?" He grinned and waited a moment before saying, "So, you agree to do this the easy way, or would you like to do things the hard way? I'm asking for your sake, really, because like you put it earlier, I do have some form of a heart."

"It was indeed ninjutsu I used earlier, something all ninja learn in the academy. Well I don't consider you an ally until I known you are of no serious harm to me." She said and listened to what he had to say. "Genjutsu is something that changes the brain waves and creates an illusion that's not true. They tap into your five senses making everything around you seem real when in all reality it's not. When a person is in a genjutsu they are passed out on the ground until they get out of the genjutsu them selves are someone comes and releases them. You can wake up from a genjutsu but it could take days." Natsumi explained. She hardly knew any ninjutsu but she knew basics thanks to the academy. "With Genjutsu though I can appear to vanish out of your sight and form as another object such as a bush or a tree. That is part of Genjutsu." Natsumi said more clearly.

When he spoke for her to answer the question for him she looked at him as he spoke of what would happen if she didn't answer and what would happen if he liked her answer or not. Natsumi grinned. Of course she'd answer the question though she couldn't let her squad members die for her and she wouldn't want to have them die because of her. Such an intelligent ninja Masaru was but she wouldn't speak that out loud. "The hard way sounds like fun I'll go with that. But what is the purpose of this question easy way or hard way for what? You've never explained..I mean I am the one chasing after you." Natsumi said and rested her hand now on the trunk of the tree and still having one hand on her hip.

Masaru shook his head, "Wanna do things the hard way? I was hoping you'd say that. As far as what it means...Oh, you'll find that out later." He chuckled, "Alright, take me away! You've got me! I'm captured!" He placed his hand on his forehead dramatically, feigning surprise, shock despair. He really was a drama queen. Then he stuck his hands out to her, as if fully giving up. He looked down, he would be easy to take at that moment. His wasn't faking, either, he would go peacefully and let her take him. He wouldn't go back on his word, he would just make things more...Interesting.

"Well this just makes things a lot more interesting." Natsumi said. She watched as he went about and did his drama queen thing. She rolled her eyes maybe instead of being a ninja he should be an actor. "I don't know why but I really do not seem to trust this." She said and looked at his hands and looked back at him. "Come on, I'm not going to tie you up it'd be cruel to do such a thing..If you try to run away you try and run away and I'll probably chase after you again." Natsumi said and took his wrist in her hand and started to drag him out of the area.

After awhile she dragged him back into the opening where she were to meet her squad members. Soon enough her team mates were there. "I got him, now shall we head back to the Village?" Natsumi asked the two. They both nodded and that was when Natsumi let go of Masaru's wrist. "Alright too see if you get away you will be in between Riku and Kazuki and then I will be behind Kazuki, you understand?" Natsumi asked and waited for him to reply.

((I forgive you. Sorry I didn't post much for you to reply to. I've been a little off topic lately seeing as my best friend is fighting with her parents and well yea she might end up coming to crash at my house so I am trying to help her out right now.))

He nodded, "You know, I'm not going to run. You got me fairly, so I'll go with you, like I said I would." He shrugged, "I am a ninja, I have honor." Then he smirked, "Besides, I'd kind of like to hear the Hokage out...." He trailed off on the last part, obviously thinking about something while sticking his tongue out between his front teeth just a tiny bit. That was always sign number one he was up to something, ask his one living former squad member, he'd tell you right away.

Then, after only a second or two of that, his face became totally serious and he said, "Shall we go? We surly don't have all day, yes? The people are waiting for you! You mighty heroes who have captured the beast whom never hurt a soul he wasn't instructed to!" He shrugged, "Or mayhap the lady shall take all the honor? She was the one that doth capture me, yes?" As he asked his slightly condescending question, a truly curious look came across his face. He wanted to know just how loyal this group really was to each other. He wondered if they were as close as his squad was before Hana died. She was the glue, without her Masaru and Ren were constantly at each other's throats. They both wanted to prove they were the stronger man. He needed to find each of his captor's weaknesses so he could effectively use them against them. It just wasn't fun, otherwise.

((I am personally having so much fun with this guy!))

Natsumi just rolled her eyes at what Masaru said. Riku was just killing him self laughing at what Masaru was saying. "This is way too fun to listen to, don't ya think Kazuki?" He asked. Kazuki was grinning "I think this is sort of entertaining and the hokage said this might be difficult..Not very difficult to me, is it to you Riku?" He asked chuckling. "Not difficult at all." Riku said grinning. Natsumi sighed. "Shut the hell up both of you before literally knock you out and leave ya here for the wolves." Natsumi said. She then sighed and turned to Masaru. "You're a very strange one, Masaru."

Riku and Kazuki had shut their traps and let the other two talk. Natsumi was leader of the mission after all. "Masaru I will not take all the honor of catching you. We are a team and no matter what amount of work we all put in we rise as team and fall as a team and that's how it just works with us." Natsumi said smiling and then closed her eyes slightly and opened them again. "We may go now. Riku lead the way and they rest of us will be behind ya." Natsumi said.

~Back at the Village.~

Natsumi and the guys took Masaru to the hokage. That was their mission and hey they passed it. The hokage ordered for Riku and Kazuki to leave the room and told Natsumi to stay. The hokage looked at Masaru. "Now Masaru, I heard word you left the village. What I'd like to know is why you left. I will not give you no lecture because surely you don't want to hear it anyways." The hokage said. Natsumi was surprised at his words. "Is there anyway we can get you to stay here and help the hospital out? We are running fairly low on medical ninja's and you were one of the greatest in the village." The hokage said now looking at Masaru.

Masaru smiled at the way she handled that. They were a close squad, and it seemed the girl was their leader, of sorts. He didn't say any more, he just let them lead him along. If only they knew what his plans were. Well, to be honest, he wished he could spring it right away, but he had to wait.

As they walked through the village, he couldn't help but wonder what the Hokage wanted. The last thing he wanted was a lecture about this, he wouldn't listen anyway. He wasn't the type to listen to people prattle on about things he'd done wrong, ever. Once they were in his office, he was a little surprised that the girl got to stay. He crossed his arms while the Hokage spoke. He shook his head, "I left because I had to." He sighed, "Do you have any idea what it's like to have to live with being accused of killing your former lover by a man that was once like a brother to you on a daily basis?" He sighed, "I didn't kill Hana, I never would've hurt her...Besides, the corruption I've seen makes me and my methods look saintly." He closed his eyes for a moment, left them in silence before he shook his head, "I don't think I can do that. You will need to give me a very good reason to stay." He shrugged, "I understand you can keep me as a prisoner until I agree, won't blame you it you do, but I need a good reason to come back to this...Place."

Re: The Chase ( )

Postby Sorella on Wed Apr 13, 2011 11:56 pm

(You've now made me very curious as to what his plan is lol.)

Natsumi stayed in the back and was listening in on the conversation between the hokage and Masaru. Some of the things that Masaru brought up were actually kind of surprising because Natsumi didn't think that a guy like that would actually be that way, then again what happened with his past probably changed the way he was or maybe he acted like this all the time? Natsumi didn't know well because she hadn't know him back then mostly because she grew up a bit in the sand village before she moved to the leaf village.

The hokage looked at Masaru for a slight moment and thought long and hard on how to possibly have Masaru stay. "What if we brought in Ren and spoke with him about how blaming you for the death of Hana is not going to be allowed no longer and that it's a poor judgement on a person. If we can get Ren to stop will you come back? Also I believe you Masaru. Hana's death was surely not your fault and you shouldn't be blamed for such a thing." The hokage said and was now thinking of a well thought out reason why they needed Masaru. There were tons of reasons but none of them would be good enough for Masaru and the hokage knew that. "Well Masaru knowing that no reason for you to stay will be good enough for I wont bother saying anything on why but as of every other ninja in this village they all have the right to live somewhere instead of becoming one of those ninja that run away from their village and becoming dangerous to the world beyond us. I ask that you stay because I know that many of the students in the academy look up to you and use you as an example and for them to be willing to try we need you to stay. Also I'm quite sure Hana wouldn't want you to leave because of Ren. If anything she'd want you two to get along, no?" The hokage said.

He frowned and spat out, "I don't want to ever see Ren again." The tone of his voice was full of hatred, nothing else. That would make it quite obvious that their falling out was deeper seeded than just Hana's death. Masaru' shoulder's slumped and he said, "He'd never stop, anyway. He was always bitter about Hanah loving me over him in the first place..." He looked down at his hands and whispered, "I couldn't save her, I was too late. I...I can still see her blood on my hands. The memories haunt my dreams...I can't sleep, ever. Her death was always my biggest fear and I-"

He cut himself off and composed himself, "Yes, Hana would want me to stay. I would if she were alive." He crossed his arms, "But she isn't. She's dead, and there's nothing I can do to change that. We both know she was always much braver than me, anyway." He turned to look out the window, "I don't care how many of the students look up to me. They need to know that as a ninja, you can't rely on anyone to keep you and the people you care about safe. I made that mistake, I'll never make it again." He closed his eyes, "But you did make a good point...Ninja do deserve a place to call home. I'm not sure this is it, but...But I'll try it one more time. If I start to not like how things are going, though, I'll leave again. This time I won't come back, no matter what. Understand?"

Hokage nodded. "We understand and while you try once more you can stay at either Natsumi's, Kazuki's, or Riku's take your pick. We want at least one person near you in case you happen to ruin into Ren and you get out of control. Natsumi was completely shocked at what the hokage had said but it was better for her to do as Hokage said. Natsumi raised her hand. "Hokage, you honestly think we'll be able to handle Masaru? He's a medical ninja he knows so many things that we don't even know, well the other medical ninja's may know but Masaru deals with poison I'm not sure if he uses a different type or form of it I just know he uses it." Natsumi said and was about to go on but the Hokage lifted his hand. "Natsumi, this is going to be an addition to your most recent mission. Until we are sure that Masaru will be staying in the village, your mission is incomplete. I will not change my mind. As long as no one is injured we're all fine and I am quite positive on the choice I have made." He said and made a small hand gesture as if to leave.

"Come on Masaru we better leave now." Natsumi grumbled and started to walk to the door but waited for Masaru. She was staying on edge with him though something didn't seem right he was way too silent when they were traveling back to the village. Could he have been planning something on the village? No that was complete nonsense he wouldn't do anything like that but what about him making plans for revenge of some sort on Ren. From the things she heard it didn't sound like Ren was a very nice person or someone very loyal to their team. That wouldn't really add up to much though maybe Masaru had something planned for her squad something horrible or just maybe she was paranoid about the whole thing. Natsumi didn't even notice she was already walking down the hall without Masaru, she was just way too deep in her thoughts. This can with her high intelligence. Everything had a pro and a con to it. Like life it's self. Natsumi was a very deep thinker and it often took up so much of her time she was hardly aware at what was around her at the present moment. Just maybe Masaru wasn't planning a single thing maybe he was just a silent guy all in general.

Masaru smiled at the Hokage's words, he already knew exactly which one he wanted to stay with, but refrained to say a word at the time. Once the Hokage had made a gesture for them to leave he got up and turned to leave, seeing that Natsumi, as he had now found was her name, didn't find it in her heart to wait for him. He shrugged and hurried to catch up with her. Once he made it back with her he walked in silence for a moment before saying, "So, where exactly are we going? Because I would like to stay with you, I don't know which of the boys on your squad are which, but they seemed like idiots that would annoy the hell out of me. Not saying that you aren't, but you simply seem less exasperating."

He smirked to himself and muttered, "There I go again, Hana always told me I needed to be nicer to people...But, really, is there any reason for me to be nice to anyone now that she's gone? I mean, sure, she'd probably want me to...But she's dead and now you're alone Masaru, nobody really cares anymore and-" He stopped, realizing he was talking to himself and let out a sigh as he looked around the town, it was so stoic, unchanging...Boring. When he was younger he wanted nothing more than to simply get out of there, maybe go to one of the bigger villages or perhaps even a city. But no, Hana had convinced him to become a medical ninja, to help people. And what good had that done him? He couldn't even save the one person that had ever cared about him, ever loved him. What was the point of his life now? He didn't know, didn't care to know. He just wanted to be left alone, but that would never happen, would it?

Natsumi was slowly coming out of her thoughts deciding to be on her feet and keeping her guard up until she knew more on Masaru. She could hear him shortly after coming after her and when he was by her side she didn't jump she didn't even acknowledge his presence until after he had spoken. "Fair enough, as for your question there Masaru, I have no clue to where we are going right now I wasn't really thinking of where exactly I was going I just started to walk." She said walking down a long hall way until she finally reached some stairs going down and she walked down them but quickly went to the railing and slid down the railing on her feet making her get to the bottom of the stairs quite fast.

Natsumi heard his whole conversation with him self and sighed."Masaru, just because she's gone doesn't mean that you have to change your old ways if anything she'd still want you to stay the same old you and she probably doesn't want you to be alone she probably just wants the best for you. I know it's hard to think that but it's true, I sort of understand your situation in a way I guess but that's a story meant to be spoken later on." Natsumi said. Then she thought for a little bit. "Have you always wanted to leave this village, Masaru? Even before the incident with Hana?" Natsumi asked and really hoped he wouldn't get angry at her for asking such a question.

Believe or not but Natsumi had a bit of history as well and she usually didn't like to think back to it and often thought that what happened in the past would stay in the past but the more she kept letting go of her past the more it would be coming back with in time and now seemed to be when a lot of her memories are coming back.

Masaru rolled his eyes at Natsumi, "Well of course, because you know everything about my situation and my dead lover, right? I will never take you seriously after seeing you slide down those stairs. Sorry, but it's true." He closed his eyes for a moment as they walked, he could feel were Natsumi was so the chances of him losing her were slim (well, she was also supposed to be watching him, which helped as well.) Though his eyes opened quickly enough at her question.

"Have you always wanted to leave this village, Masaru? Even before the incident with Hana?"

He didn't bother wondering how she knew he wanted to leave, he'd made it quite obvious with his attitude towards coming back in the first place. So his answer was a simple, "Yes." It didn't sound annoyed, angry or sad. It was completely devoid of emotion, the first thing he'd said like that all day. Even to someone that hadn't known him long, it would've been odd to hear him speak so plainly, so devoid of any theatrics or emotion. It was oddly uncharacteristic of him, "I didn't want to be a ninja, either, but look at me now." He held his hand up in a slightly showy manner, but quickly dropped them and sighed, "I really don't want to talk about any of this right now. Maybe in ten to twenty years when we are either bitter rivals or the best of friends. Who knows, we may have forgotten all about one another by that time...I find that highly unlikely, though."

((My post feels really short...Sorry 'bout that.))
