Through whatever means, some elements of the truth have been shamefully skewed for reasons we can't truly understand. Though one could assume it too was a part of the great plan. The Prince of the Morning, given the name Lucifer, or Satan, the Devil, has been known as the evil force within the universe, being a tempter of souls, wreaking damnation on any he could corrupt with whispers of riches and women, of power and dominion. Repulsive to the minds and sensibilities of the general populace, attention is generally kept from his direction. His very name is a taboo.
Yet the truth could not be further from this common misconception; for the Prince's mission is one that will bring a new dawn, a morning of greatness that will see completion of the great plan constructed before time even began. The Apocalypse. The Four Horsemen. A legend that people have been led to believe is the end of the world, its full destruction. Nay, truth will tell that The Apocalypse is the salvation of the world. Lucifer's role is to find the chosen four, train them, and then lead them into the battle that will cleanse the world, bringing to it a renewed birth.
This roleplay maps the search of Lucifer for the four people who will act as the horsemen in the Apocalypse, their training, and finally, the Apocalypse itself. Please note that this isn't designed to be a particularly religious roleplay, though inevitably there will be elements of religion involved. Also note that the story and plot do not, in any way, represent my religious beliefs.
I am looking for roleplayers of a high-level literary ability who can construct a well-written, gripping and exciting roleplay. As such, please don't apply to join this roleplay if you are not of a high level. I have no interest in those who are unable to spell, use correct grammar, and/or write tiny posts expecting them to be accepted. I will be looking at posts from each person who applies to join, so please don't waste my time.
As for characters, I will be taking the 'Game Master' role of Lucifer, and also Death. The other available Horsemen are War, Pestilence and Famine. Obviously, ancillary characters are permissible and even encouraged: We need more than just five characters, and not everyone can have a Horseman.
As for the Horsemen themselves, I want each of them to be a historical and prominent figure, though from any time period: From ancient history, to modern day people. How you play the character is entirely up to you, you need not provide a 'carbon copy' of your selected 'celebrity' - so feel free to interpret them how you will. But, remember, you are choosing that person because you associate them as somehow being able to fit the role of the particular Horseman.
This roleplay will be spanned across various periods in history (and maybe even the future), so all characters can be from any era. As such, you have a pretty free reign when it comes to making your character. However, please do not post up anime-type characters; I don't want to see cat-girls or "confident, shy girl-looking emo boys with gravity defying hair that glows." Overall, this roleplay will be a realistic game, with the occasional fantasy element. So, keep that in mind.
As for the desired tone of the roleplay, I am looking for a study of how people deal with a reconstruction of their reality, how being given duties they could deem beyond their ability affects them. I want it to engage the reader and make them want to see what happens next: Tension of development will be important as such. Delving into your character is paramount. This is why I want only advanced roleplayers.
If you want to apply, just post in this thread. For the Horsemen, state the one you want, the character you want for that role, and then why you think they would be suitable. For ancillary characters, please state the era they are from, how you envisage they'll be connected to the whole story and a little background information: I don't really require a full biography, however. I'll not ever read it, so you'll be wasting your own time.
This should hopefully develop into a brilliant roleplay, so let's get on with it, people.
