************
Wolfie raced through the surrounding forrest, stumbling through the foliage and trees. The green and brown blended together, becoming a blurr in the corner of his wild eyes. In an instant, the ground disappeared; he leapt from the top of the bluff, rolling to along the ground a few hundred feet below. His bones popped and twisted, but with a quick jerk, were reset. He continued the chase.

Derikku's mind became cold, locked deep inside Wolfie's head. The split personality often served to help each other in fights, and locking oneself away, was a last resort in order to heal. Derikku had been absent for hours, a rather large lot of time for the regenerative abilities of a werewolf.

It was no matter though; now was the time for survival. Wolfie panted heavily, still racing between the thick, leafy behemoths. Wolfie smiled, laughing to himself. The light in between the trees peaked into his vision. He was almost there. The light began to engulf him. He was free.

A sharp pain caught his right shoulder as he cleared the tree line. He yelped and rolled into the open field. His shoulder sizzled and gurgled as the silver in the arrow reacted with his lycanthropy cells. He cursed aloud and sprinted into the city ahead. There he could escape. There he would start his plan into action. Too long had he been hunted by this cult. It had been three full days of running before today, and he still had not been able to escape the scouts aligned with the faction. The U.P. they called themselves, Unhuman Prevention. Anything that didn't follow the strict genetic codes all humans posses, was condemned. Lycans, Vampires, and Magicians of all forms, despite the fact that most U.P. members were trained in unhuman combat and tactics. The group was lethal, quiet, and most of all covert. They were even more secretive than the mythic beasts they stalked.

Wolfie quickly dropped the thoughts from his mind; now was not the time for reminiscence. He ripped into the city, making for the first intersection he could without being completely left in the open. He could feel his tracker's eyes boring into him. He was waiting for the perfect shot. Wolfie darted to his left crossing the street, then into an alleyway. He dug his claws into the brick laden walls, quickly scaling them to the roof of the complex. With a quick thrust, he forced his hand through the cieling, then forced the ground to give away, collapsing a rather large hole in the top floor.

This would by him some time. The change of lycanthropy doesn't take all too long, for a single souled creature. It can become quite tricky changing with two, however. It would be like, changing seats in the front of a car at exactly the same time; only, now one of the passengers is unconscious. Wolfie tried again, quickly forcing himself to take human form, lumping Derikku's mind into the more animal one. He gathered up some clothes from the surrounding room, taking a simple blue button up shirt, some boxers, and a pair of blue jean pants. With this, he began to run down stairs, following the voices of the humans around him.

"The building's going to collapse!"

"Everyone out! Come on, come on! Anyone left up there!?"

Wolfie paused, before leaping down another flight of stairs. "Yeah, I'm coming down, just get everyone out front across the street! Don't want anyone to be hurt or missing, do we?" he replied, fastening the last button onto his shirt.

{I hope you don't mind, I posted before you "accepted" me. I didn't wanna wait 'til you got out of school to write back... I love you!}

The feathers of Mususaki's wings fluttered from the force of the wind brushing against her angelic wings. She had gone so long without a good night's rest and good food to eat, so at this point she was letting the wind carry her light body about.

The foliage below slowly became populated with buildings. One larger than the last. Food! Sleep! It was all Mususaki could think of. She descended to a taller building, touching her dainty feet upon the rooftop. Her large wings folded closer to her back, slowly fading them into thin air. It was like she never had them...

A deep sigh escaped her pink lips. "Sleeeep," She groaned, scratching the back of her head, under her hat. She sluggishly dragged her feet about the ground, making her way to the fire escape off to the side of the building. There was quite a commotion not too far from where she was, but she was way too tired to care now.

Her feet made a deep clunky noise every time they pounded the metal, mesh fire escape. Finally reaching the bottom, she arched her back, popping it slightly. Through the ally, she peered to the open streets. Havoc seemed to have unleashed among the surrounding blocks. No one is rushing at me with pitchforks and torches, so it can't be me...

Intrigued, Mususaki drew nearer to the opening of the ally, which would reveal a large crowd of people forming about a collapsing building. She was right across the street from it all...

Wolfie flicked his arms out in front of him to adjust his sleeves towards his wrists before turning down towards the ground level of the clamoring building. The walls cracked slightly, a hail of paint chips and sheet rock coated the top of Wolfie's head and shoulders before he could clear the door. He groaned for a moment, but assumed the look of a concerned citizen as he backed into the crowd.

"What happened?"

"Will it fall?"

"Where's Jonathan? My Love!"

Wolfie shook his head from side to side, or rather Derikku's head, though that was splitting hairs, or... heads (or whatever), in attempt to clean himself from the dust and debris. The building shook once more, but for the moment, held fast. The crowd gasped, answering the groan from the building. Sirens wailed in the distance, warning their arrival.

"Yeah, what the hell happened in there?" Wolfie asked to no one in particular. The group murmured approval in response. His eyes quickly scanned the area for his hunter.

Mususaki was curious. She was here for a few minutes and already a building was going to collapse. It creaked and moaned as some debris fluttered and dropped to the ground. It made the air thick with dust and dirt.

Mususaki brought her gloved hand to her nose and mouth to keep dust astray. She took a few steps towards the crowd, her curiosity urging her to do so. It was so loud, she couldn't even hear her shoes drag along the aspalt, there was so much yelling and talking and ruckus. Her large, black messenger bag bumped the side of her hip as she walked, adding more noise.

She closed her eyes slightly, just waiting for the building to give...

With a sickening shriek, the steel beams twisted and fell apart, the roof of the building collapsing in on itself. The bricks cascaded down the now clear street, and a tidal wave of dust washed over the crowd. The crowd broke into a panic, scattering and running away.

Wolfie winced slightly at the piercing sounds of sirens in the air. He coughed a bit, then jogged away from the debris, shifting his gaze over the crowd. Where was she? He could sense her out there, perhaps watching from the treeline nearby. She wouldn't know what his human form looked like, but most certainly would be able to pick him out of the crowd if he didn't at least act human and run from the building.

Wolfie growled to himself at the situation. His tracker's were weak, but incredibly sneaky. They were dangerous because of it, and that fact irritated Wolfie to know end. He'd have to find a way to level the playing field soon.

"What's that?" Mususaki sorted a scent in the air, different than the dirt that had kicked up. She backed away while people had ran and jogged beside and past her. "What is this scent?" She thought to her behalf, nervously lifting another foot to step back. If only the debris would settle for a while, she could figure it out.

The shrieking and creaking from the steel beams and wood frames filled her ears, along with the screaming sirens from emergency vehicles. With this, she took a couple more steps back. Debris seemed to cover every inch for half a mile.

Wolfie growled to himself, making his way across the crowd, length-wise. The oncoming ambulances cleared away a slight path, slowing as they approached. Wolfie muttered something about the trouble of not simply killing the people, as he nimbly leapt between the people towards the heart of the town. It would be such a hass-

Crack

A driver, not paying attention to traffic, but rather the chaos clipped Wolfie's hip, flinging him along the pavement, through the crowd. He let out a quick yelp, then looked to the driver with an angry glare. He cursed under his breath, debating whether or not to fight the man, but decided against it. Instead, he looked down to a man he had landed on, and knocked unconscious.

"Are you okay?"he gasped, faking worry, "Someone help this guy! He just got hit by a car!"

Some of the surrounding people looked to the man, and another with a white attire ran to the man and checked his vitals. Wolfie turned quickly and began his steady pace again. No more need to think of a way to lure the tracker. Most definitely that would have caught her attention. Now, to set the trap.

Mususaki noticed a car hit a civilian. She couldn't see who through the crowd, really, but she saw that a couple of people had rushed to aid whoever got hit by the vehicle. What she did catch a glimpse of was another man slink into the crowd. She furrowed her eyebrows, pushing her way through the crowd.

It seemed as though he was hiding something. He didn't seem at all intrigued or distracted by the ongoing commotion like everyone else. She would lose him if she didn't pick up the pace. Something just didn't sit right with her, and she felt as though letting him loose through the crowds would make the cramped, fluttery feeling in her stomach even more intense.

She gripped the strap of her messenger bag at her chest, still covering her nose and mouth with the other hand, and pushed on through the crowd, though slowly losing him in the concentration of people...

Wolfie's eyes shot to one side of the street, then the other, looking for an escape. People nearby were still mesmerized by the sight of the collapse, and most were strangely drawn to it. Just after breaking the reach of the mass of people surrounding, he broke into a run. His feet thudded loudly against the pavement, only deafened by the ambiance of the collapse. With a quick turn of his heel, he dove to his right, towards the scent of garbage.

The alleyway was large, damp, and above all, littered. Trash lined the walkway, stuffed in corners, or simply tread into the muck that Wolfie could only assume was once pavement. He grinned at the stuff, then grimaced. Yes it would help to throw off his tracker, but...

"This wreaks," he growled to himself, kicking free a scrap of paper from his boot.

"Damn it all," Mususaki growled under her breath. She lost the man in the thick of the crowd. Finding herself almost suffocating with the amount of people, she pushed on through the mass, clutching her bag at her hip.

Making it out, alive, she dragged her feet until the amount of people evaporated. A deep gurgle noise emitted from her stomach; she wanted food so bad, and apparently her stomach did too. She brought the hand at her mouth to her upset stomach. She stepped upon the light-colored pavement, looking ahead and all around for a place to eat.

Upon approaching an ally, she heard some rustling and mumbling, but it really didn't matter to her. She didn't even care about the man she decided to try to follow either, just food... And maybe even a nice place to sleep.

Soft foot falls caught Wolfie's attention. He growled inwardly, then crouched next to the dumpster against the wall. Soon he'd kill off this pitiful tracker without pause; he'd make whoever it was pay for such a long chase. Wolfie's body tense as he lowered to the ground, preparing to take down his opponent.

His fists clenched tight, and he ground his teeth. His tension was almost visible, as his hands shook, and his blood pumped. Wolfie breathed heavily, preparing for a fight- if you could call it that. Whoever was following him before was obviously human, but an enormous amount of training in fighting, but a human nonetheless. Wolfie doubted the fight would last longer than one blow.

The thought made Wolfie grin violently.

Mususaki's eyes traveled along the buildings, searching for a place to eat. "Fast food... A fancy restaurant... A diner?" Mususaki drew her attention to the diner. Farly priced with a good amount of food to go with it. The metal sign that held the diner's name so high shined in what little light the sun conjured like the holy grail. And at this point, she believed it to be.

She picked up her pace, this last excursion of energy would be rewarded with food most defiantly! After passing this alley, she could cross the street and eat!

Her feet made a scraping noise as they hit the pavement. She gripped the broad band across her chest with both hands. Mususaki paid no attention to anything else. Even the collapsing building behind her was old news.

With a quick flash of motion, Wolfie sprinted from his cover to the first thing around the corner. He leapt forward in a somersault motion throwing his shoulder into the dive. He could taste it now, the blood, the flesh, the thrill of another won fight, the--...

An odd scent filled Wolfie's nose. It wasn't the tracker, that was certain. It was more feminine, and feline. There wasn't the smell of muck from the forest, nor gunpowder. It lacked the flavor most tracker's do (with the thin stringy sinews in their flesh) but held an entirely new feeling altogether.

Wolfie gulped. 'Uh oh...' he thought.

Mususaki tripped, startled, and as she fell, she let out a faint shriek, like a meow. She lost her footing and ended up on the side of her hip, landing with her torso held up by her arms. "What the hell?!" She snapped, quickly raising her head to see who had shook her up.

This guy... He smelled familiar. And sort of looked familiar too. The man in the crowd! Instead of tearing into him, Mususaki stopped herself in fear of scaring him off. It seemed as though he would have jumped her, but what stopped him?

He smelled like trash... But there was another element in his scent that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

Wolfie looked over the woman, startled, at first that he had nearly taken down a bystander as opposed to the tracker, then at the fact that she had drawn him out into the open. He grumbled to himself, freezing in place, attempting to listen for the his stalker. Should he or she make an attack now, at the very least, he would know the direction of the person.

Giving the opponent, but he would tear down half the city if it meant he could bring down this thorn in his side. It was now that he realized that he still stood crouched near the girl as if he were about to attack. Wolfie quickly stood, and brushed himself off.

"I'm, er, sorry about that, I... thought you were someone else," Wolfie grumbled, avoiding eye contact with the woman. His hair fell into his eyes for a moment, and he shook it from his vision. He thought, fumbling with the words in his head. His lips parted, preparing to speak, but was cut off.

Just between the buildings opposing the alleyway, beyond the street and the limits of the city, a glint of light twinkled at the treeline. Before Wolfie could react, his arm opened, just between his collarbone and his humorous. The inch gap misted blood through the area, spraying it along the wall behind him. His arm hung limp, for a moment, then jerked towards his chest in reaction. No sound was heard aside from the sharp yelp from Wolfie, and the continuing wail of sirens. He dropped back against the wall, and dumpster, clutching his wound.

Blood pooled from the hole, pulsating with his heart beat which ran quickly; thump thump thump thump. His grip on his shoulder tightened, stopping the blood flow, but creating a new problem. A loud pop escaped his fingers, the edge of his collar. Wolfie growled again, then turned to the woman.

The shot had come from just over her left shoulder, in the shrubbery on the hill. It was taunting him, telling him the shot could have also easily killed him. His face saddened. How didn't he sense the shot? How did he allow himself to become wounded? He needed to recover, and rest. It would be top priority once he could find a place to hide. His eyes shot back to the woman.

"Say, you wouldn't mind moving a little to your left, would you?" he chuckled, stifling a cough.

Mususaki's big, lavender eyes widened. Blood. It was everywhere. She couldn't even manage to whimper or scream for that matter. Her lungs simply shut down, as well as the rest of her body.

Mususaki's mind was blank. Only the blood that poured from the man's wound had, basically, paralyzed her. She wasn't thinking of where it came from, or even helping the man. Finally, after a moment, her arms and legs started to quiver. Her eyes followed the blood pooling down the man's torso, trembling as they did. She could see the man saying something, but she could hear nothing, even with those cat ears.

Wolfie stared at the woman. She simply sat, doing nothing. Not screaming, not running, nothing. He sighed, inwardly. Things had just become more complicated. She would no doubt tell the police someone is running about being shot at, then draw attention to himself even further. He couldn't afford MORE trackers after him. He cursed under his breath.

In an instant, he was on his feet, then behind Mususaki. The girl would obviously serve as a shield, or the tracker would have fired through her in order to find a more damaging place on him.

"Look, girl. Why don't you come with me? We'll sort some things out okay?" he muttered, reaching his hands towards her waist. His shoulder's bleeding had slowed, and already began to close, though still trickled.

Mususaki's body loosened, but she didn't feel as though she could completely control her movements. As the man's hand traveled to her wrist, she didn't do anything. Nothing took precedence over the man's wound, though it was healing at an extraordinary rate. She paid no mind to anything else, really.

She wanted desperately to run, but the fact was that she couldn't move her legs even. She could try, but would just tremble and fall over. The more the wound healed, the more Mususaki snapped back into reality, though the image was still there.

The man's voice finally got into her ears and registered in her mind. "Look, girl. Why don't you come with me? We'll sort some things out okay?"

She couldn't speak. She wanted to know what had just happened, and possibly why.

Wolfie heaved the girl- heaved wasn't the word, rather tossed, the girl over his shoulder, quickly turning on his heel. He strode forward, leaping to his left with his first step, then to his right, nimbly (or luckily) avoiding two more successive shots at thigh height as he did. Great, now I have to off this girl before I move on... Then people will wonder, and investigate, blah blah blah, lead back to me... he thought, rolling his eyes.

The two were far enough down the alleyway now, that the building's angle, across the street, wouldn't allow for free reign for fire. This would irritate the shooter; after all, one for three was awful. Wolfie thought again. Where would be best, somewhere high? No, too easy to pick out and shoot at, especially from a distance. Somewhere underground, a sewer maybe? No, there wouldn't be enough of an escape route, let alone a place to rest.

A hotel would work, but where would one be around here? Wolfie's eyes flashed about as he turned onto the next street. A few passerby's noticed the two, but were more attuned to the happenings on the block adjacent to them. He simply glanced at them, and continued to walk. He cursed again, this time loudly.

"What the hell?!" Mususaki cursed, trying to lift her upper half off of the man's back with her arm. He was moving fast. And those shots at him...

Was he being chased? Was he even human? There still was that scent that Mususaki couldn't quite make out. Her hat started to slip, and with that she quickly moved her hand atop of it to hold it down. She had no other way of hiding her ears, and if anyone saw something like that they would think of the situation even more odd.

"Will this man kill me? What does he even want with me?" Mususaki pondered, staring at the ground they were quickly covering, "He obviously doesn't want to be caught by anyone, but why? What exactly does this man have to hide?" At that moment, it hit her. His shoulder did heal up very fast, and as she turned her head into a position she could see it clearly, she found it almost completely healed.

Mususaki had seen many demons and monsters alike, but this was unusual.
