Grutous stroked the fire, and put a kettle over it filled with water. He waited for it to bubble, and in a few minutes the kettle was nearly bubbling over. He put a head of cabbage in the pot. In a half hour, the water had turned a milky color and the cabbage was now soft and slimy. Grutous poured two bowls.

Spectre watched Grutous for awhile. Then, when she had lost interest, she closed her eyes.

Spectre nodded slightly and accepted the bowl and spoon. She tasted it, and it was disgusting to her, but she ate it anyway.

Spectre ate it quickly so she wouldn't have to taste much. "I don't really like cabbage either way." She said, looking down at the now empty bowl.

Grutous stroked the fire for a bit longer, and after Specter had fell asleep, Grutous stretched out on the floor and put his arm over his eyes.

Spectre slept with her usual nightmares. It was dark when she finally gave up on sleeping well. Spectre opened her eyes and sighed in annoyance.

Spectre heard him smiled a bit. She stared at the ceiling until he woke up. When he did she was sitting up.

"The early bird gets the worm," he quoted. He storked the fire, looking for an ember. He found one and with some tinder he got the fire going agian.
