We can't "destroy the Earth." We can make it unsuitable for humans, sure. But even if the surface of the earth is red hot, some thing will survive to live under ground. And when the surface is suitable again, plants will grow, animals will surface, and bam, Earth Reborn. Of course over the course of a million years.

Apparently you've never taken history or science. If we were to release all of the nuclear missiles we have we would destroy almost the entirety of the earth's crust, as well as iradiate all water sources and supplies. There is no way anything could live after such a cataclysmic event. Except for cockroaches.

I have a theory on why the Mayans stopped making their calendars in the year 2012. Now this is one that it is tough for most to grasp, despite it apparent simplicity. Her goes:

THEY WERE BORED and maybe SICK OF MAKING THE DAMN THINGS!!!!

Isn't that logical? Did people really expect them to make calendars for eternity? The dying breath of the last Mayan descendant is a sigh of pain...he cannot... continue... making calendars! It is the life ambition of his father and his father's father and his father's father's father before him!

Jeebus H. Didn't they do us enough by getting the format down? They made quite enough, going as far as they did, I think, rest in peace oh great day/month/year scribblers.

But you know, that must be a bored people to have made as many as they did. A really. bored. people.
Well I’m not there all the time, you know : Some people, some people, some people,
call it insane, yeah they call it insane. I play Russian roulette everyday, a man’s sport,
with a bullet called life, yeah called life!:
:You know that every time I try to go : where I really want to be,
It’s already where I am, : cause I’m already there!

I'm going to have to side with Hunter on this one. If cockroaches survive, and to your own admission they would, they earth is not dead. Just because we make it unsuitable for all of the current living organisms, doesn't mean that all life on this planet would be extinguished, and therefore, the planet itself would not be dead.

If you are going to accuse a person of being uneducated in a topic, you should be sure that your facts are straight and that you don't prove yourself wrong with your own words.

You're an idiot. Pointing out an exception is not proving myself wrong. Furthermore, we do not know if cockroaches can actually survive a nuclear assualt, its more of a joking urban myth due to the fact that they are so hard to kill.

The first 3 and one half years are very peacefull, and many will suspect noting will happen. But the second three and one half years are full of destruction, killing, etc. Anyway, if you really want to know how it's going to happen, than just read the book of Revelation in the bible.

Also, as said in the bible, no one actually knows when it is going to happen, though there will be signs. One is listed below, and the sign is obvious at that.

Well, one sign is the sun shall turn black and the moon to blood.

They have found yet another way that the world might end! Not surprisingly, this has to do with the LHC. So, there's this stuff we call Strange Matter (I love how if we don't know jack about something we give it this bullshit name and call it a day.) Strange matter is a form of Quark Matter, which is stable only in extremely high pressure, produced when Nuclear Matter is compressed beyond its density and the protons and neurons dissociate into quarks. This yields Quark Matter, and most likely is what yields the kind of Quark Matter called Strange Matter. Generally found in stars (I'm assuming after it supernovas), it appears to us as this unidentifiable cloud of.. well.. strange matter. (It is apparently defined as a liquid and so appears in droplets.) The appearance of a "strangelet" from the LHC may absorb all surrounding nucleons, thus eventually converting the entire planet into Strange Matter. Up until now we were in no danger of this because the matter does not exist on Earth. But now it will! ...Damnit, science!

Though the possibility of the world ending in 2012 is quite large, as another sign is that there will be peace in the middle-east (Iraq, Iran, etc.). So more than likely, when people think the war is over...

Unless this war ends, than over time another conflict arises and we are thrown into the clutches of battle with Iraq yet again...

If we're going to take the cockroach argument this far...

1. Cockroaches are way more dependent on Humans than we think they are. Without humans leaving their food around and giving them a nice cozy shelter, winter would kill them quite effectively, and seeing as the world was destroyed by nuclear weapons, I believe a term called Nuclear Winter would eventually apply.

3. Cockroaches are NOT radiation-proof. Granted, they can survive ridiculous amounts of radiation, but eventually it kills them too. If the whole world is going to be turned into a crater of radioactive hell, then those little bastards are going with us.

3. I'm no rocket scientist either, but if the stamp of a shoe can kill a cockroach, couldn't the implosion caused by a nuclear weapon over head do the trick as well? I mean, squished cockroach = dead, so by that logic, vaporized cockroach = dead. Right? Can they survive in a vaporous form?

As for Obama being the anti-christ, I'm not touching that one. While I can't argue that he's somebody with ridiculous charisma and somebody a huge portion of America seems to trust, I'd have to say that I wasn't going to vote for Obama OR McCain. VOTE FOR RON PAUL!

Here is something to think about. Ever notice just how many people there are preparing for the end? Do they honestly believe that they're going to survive? That doesn't cease to baffle me. It seems that some people honestly believe that they're going to survive in the event of Global Doom. They're better off finding a girlfriend, because if they think coming on to the last woman on Earth with, "This is all you got, baby," is a good idea for getting some action, they've got another think coming.

I figured that if the odds are against me, I might as well enjoy what time I have left on this planet before it's turned into Strange Matter or whatever the hell Science can do.

I don't think cockroaches need humans to survive, but I agree with Aether too. I am registered as an independant, so I'm not a voter myself. I don't know, perhaps people like us are the problem with the world today. I'm not even sure if it will be science that destroys the planet. All I know, is that people who live in fear of God (uh, also called God-fearing people) are more likely to live in fear of the law. There are social classes of mostly atheists who live in peaceful communities, and abide by all the laws. But there are also many atheists who committ crimes, and live as outlaws. I think it is because they have no fear of God, and it is possible that the world might end some day (in fact, it's probably highly-likely). And... People should just chill with their homies, make love to their spouses, play with their kids, wrestle with the dog, pop open a cold one, roll up a fatty, eat what they can, work their hardest, try their best, and just live and let live. There is no one to blame for human extinction if humans aren't the real cause for their decline in numbers. Many variables could cause several species (like, right now) to die off and become extinct. Life so far has found a way to survive, and adapt to its enviroment. Imagine then what forms life might take in the next five hundred years.

I dont trust anyone in the government right now. Honestly I'd like to curl up into a ball and say ITS GUNNA BE ALL RIGHT until 2012. Seriously there is a huge chance that the world might end in 2012 and a lot of digs and finds say that the world will end near 2012 BUT you have to remember that back thousands of years ago The world ending meant that EVERYONE changed their way of living. So who really knows. We could survive and turn into omnipitant super beings OR we could melt our skin off with tactical nukes.

But I think that if armageden is apon us we certainly deserve it.

We have KILLED mother earth, how far will we go?

As much as I'd hate to quote the Matrix... Humans are a virus.

We start out small but then we grow and grow and expand and reproduce and KILL the "Cell" we live in. Just like a virus we have robbed the earth of its strength and resources so we can reproduce and NOW we are spreading to Mars and the planets beyond.

I can tell you now that Mars will fall after that if we arent "Purged" by the armageden by that time.

Just.
Like.
A.
Virus.

We have left Mother earth deformed and shrivled. And Im certain that our species will get a HUGE slap in the face.... no Im sure our species will get a HUGE kick in the nads for our blind disregard of our dying planet. And we will spread, just like a virus. We will always find a way to survive.

And kill.....
