The End (IC) ( )

Postby ImmortalEcstasy on Sat Jan 15, 2011 6:41 am

The End.

The full moon glows through the grasping whirls of smoke, its light fighting to pass through the empty branches of many leaning trees, capturing the light and swallowing it into a zebras stripes against the dirt pathway.
The path, a scar in the otherwise wild scenery, leads to a vast circular lake, the moon light bouncing of the once white pebbles that brim over the black water, its only feature is the odd ripple caused by a chilled wind.
Standing at the bridge between path and pebbles is a figure, head to toe in the perfect camouflage of night. His black coat has large collars, large buttons. His hands are buried deep in its age old pockets, one hand withdraws, drawing with it the unnatural shape of a box. He draws out a cigarette and places it in-between perfectly carved lips, full and beautiful.
He places the streamline pocket back into his pocket and withdraws another rectangle, this one the colour of foreign seas. The pulls down and a flame protrudes from the colour. Lighting the cigarette. He breaths out a swirl of thick smoke, which snakes up and away. He draws on his cigarette, the next breath bringing out slower, darker smoke.
He tips his head back and watches the smoke leave with alert eyes, they reflect the green tinge of the pebbles, shine back the light of the sun and the fathomless black of the lake... all reflected back in those flickering eyes, framed with the sparse branches of delicate blonde eyelashes.
His hair is unnaturally dark, cut into a delicate fringe.
The intoxicating smoke disperses into the air, spreading wide. When he can no longer draw poison from it, he throws the remaining butt of the cigarette into the already polluted waters. It ripples at it and consumes it, sending off the light of the moon in perfectcircles.

Finally, she arrives...

It's 2946AD, and the world is reaching it's close. There was no sudden pop and everything disappeared. It's not like you read about. It was slow, it started the day life formed. It started with that spark, that bang, that creation.
It started with a fire, and it ended with the final embers flickering out and turning cold. It doesn't matter how, all that matters is that those final embers are still cooling. There is still life on that lonely rock that magically came to life.

And the world needs a new spark.

Two groups, His and Hers, each have their own way of surviving, jobs and routines. Then they come together for the two of them and from there, thing's get a little disorganised. The rest of them might bicker with one another, have disagreements about how best to survive a world that is both on fire and covered in ice depending where you look.

Exhaling the last breath of smoke from his cigarette and flicking the butt, absent mindly into the wind, Will looked over his shoulder at Lacey and Chris, both sound asleep. The wind picked up for a moment and Will propped the collar of his coat up against it and turned away from the girls smiling silently.

They are soo much cuter when they're asleep

Will found himself heading down a narrow dirt trail through the thicket just by where the girls and himself had stopped for the night. The full moon, which was now at its highest point in the sky was the only light he had to guide him, stepping over rocks and roots, ducking under branches, shielding his face as he pushed through the last curtain of leaves. The first change was the sound of pebbles crunching under his boots as they made the transition from the soft dirt, pulling his arms away from his face and brushing himself off he took notice of the lake he had come to, the smooth black of the water perfectly contrast against the shine reflected back on its surface from the moon, quite beautiful really he thought to himself, making his way slowly to a run down looking bridge a little way in the distance.
He enjoyed moments like this, finding little places tucked away in the middle of nowhere that where so calm and quiet and still, despite the world slowly falling apart, retained some beauty. Will leant back against the old railing, it creaked under the pressure but held his weight, pulling his beanie off his head and running his other hand through his rediculously unkept hair, he pulled out another cigarette, lit it and puffed out the smoke, tilting his head back and watching it raise and slowly disappear.

Lacey dreamed nightmarish dreams. The same, single dream. Walking down a dark corridor that never ended, and she never really seemed to be moving. Dark and cemented, it eerily reminded the woman of a death trap, somehow. She couldn't place exactly why, but the feeling of animosity is always there. She wanted to go and explore the abandoned hospital sometime during the day, it always seemed to send waves of curiosity at her. She somewhat hated life, but she also felt glad to have found a small, ragtag group of people. Chris and Will. Lacey figured they were her family now, and they would look after one another, until the end.

Although I don't show it, I'm really happy I met you guys

She woke up groggily, still fighting off the tempting claws of sleep and noticed Will leaning against an old, rusted railing by the lake. He was smoking casually, his hair incredibly unkempt in messy lines. Lacey smiled a little to herself and walked over, slowly and sleepily.
Why is it called a broken heart if every part of you is hurting?

Angela had been leaning against the same tree for a couple of minutes now, she'd requested Reese and Jacob stay at the camp they'd set up. From her place she could still see the embers of the fire glowing orange, but the light from the fire wasn't enough for her to ensure they had indeed stayed, she didn't blame them for worrying about all this though – but it wouldn't stop her from meeting up with Will.
Angela finally plucks up the courage, having found the lake when it had still been light - slips through the dying forest in it's direction, twisting one way then the other to bypass the twigs that caught in her hair. She's buried deep in her own black attire. She sees him standing there, another girl, lanky with dark hair, is approaching him.
Angela doesn't know who she is but she was obviously in the company Will was travelling with and therefore the fact she was a stranger didn't set Angela as on edge as it usually would. She doesn't think Will has seen her yet, and so carefully steps onto a branch, the snap echoing upwards. She looks up, as if startled by the sound.

Will began to get absorbed by the calm of the night and peaceful surrounding, only really paying attension to each consecutive breath, each new cloud of smoke slowly rising. A twig snapping echoed around the empty clearing, Will took a sharp breath as he focused on where it had come from, coughing as the smoke burnt his throat.

Angela..

"Angela.." He had to actually say her name just to convince himself she was there. Her face becoming more visable as his eyes adjusted "Angela!" again, louder this time so she could hear him, his face lit up with a childish grin that hadn't been seen in quite a while and he practically leapt over the railing between them, onto the shore and broke into a run. About half the distance crossed, Will spotted another figure stepping grogily off the path that he had come from. Lacey? His neck snapped around, focusing his eyes on her as he skided to a halt, the moss caked pebbles failed to provide the appropriate footing and Will ended up on his back "Ahh shiiit" groaing in pain, he opened his eyes, deciding to remain on the floor for a few more seconds. "Damn.. That was embarassing. Bet you enjoyed that Lace.. Did you leave Chris alone?" Remebering Angela standing only a short distance away he tried to push himself off the ground, slowly managing to hold himself upright, sitting on the cold hard ground. He stretched his back, pulling at the stiff joints. He looked up, seeing Anglea's face clearly for the first time in quite a while, "Been far too long Angie" his face turned soft and he smiled up at her "I would hug you but I don't think I can stand up by myself"

She groaned to herself and just wished everything would keep still for a second. Chris was a light sleeper and any movement kept her awake. Keeping her eyes closed, she listened as Will's footsteps changed direction and headed away from where they were. She opened one eye and sneaked a peak at where he was heading. Satisfied that it wasn't too far off, she turned over to her side and tried to fall asleep. But then the rustling of the figure next to her made her wince. Lacey was rising from her slumber and seemed to be ambling off in the direction Will had walked too. Chris tapped her fingers on the moss covered ground and considered rising from the floor to join them both.

Instead, she placed both her hands behind her head and looked up at the canopy. Some alone time would do her good. Through the intricate twists of the stretched out branches and patterened shapes the leaves formed, Chris could make out parts of the night sky. Focusing her attention on one patch of the sky, she concentrated on the stars there. She knew it was an ironic thought, but one did feel rather small when compared to the gazillion stars that lay beyond. Sighing, she considered that the thought itself was no longer far fetched considering all the the events that had led her to this very spot; to Lacey and Will, to this situation.

Angela moved to meet him, worried at first but then stifling a laugh at his fall once it was clear he was unhurt. As he sat up she leant over him, a pleased smile etching every part of her face.
"I would hug you but I don't think I can stand up by myself"
She laughs good naturedly, making her way through the dead leaves and mud, “clumsy as ever I see.”
She kneels down, feeling the cold squelch of half dried mud as she put her arms round his shoulders and rested her head on his chest. Inhaling the intoxicating smell of him in one deep breath, sighing in a satisfied exhale. “Not the prefect reunion I anticipated.” She admits in a half whisper, “But good enough for me.” She awkwardly pulls her self to her feet and offers a gloved hand to aid him to his feet. Her chest tightening as she watched him, making her lungs captive and unable to work properly, she bites a small part of the corner of her mouth “get up and give me a proper hug.”

Jacob's eyes were drooping slightly as the light of the fire burned lightly. The sun was starting to rise, so there really was no need for this fire anymore. Chewing his lip lightly he stared off into space and thought of Angela. I wonder where she's meeting him and with that thought his eyes narrowed slightly. He definitely didn't like the fact that she'd gone to meet him instead of him coming to their turf; and he liked even less that she had insisted upon going by herself. This is my new little family, and I'm not going to lose them he thought to himself, glancing around and seeing Reese sleeping soundly on the ground. And, suddenly, he was wondering what she might be dreaming about. HIs mind was wandering idly as he waited for Angela to return, or Reese to awaken.

An annoyed look was crossing his face, as he yet again thought of Angie. When was she going to learn to listen to him? An audible growl broke the silence as he let his frustrations out verbally. Drumming his fingers on the mossy ground, he slumped over and looked at the sky. It really was a beautiful morning.

"Get up and give me a proper hug"

It was odd, like just by saying the words she had made them come true. Will was on his feet by the time she had finished her sentence, regaurdless of his bodies painful objections. Wincing a little as he took a step towards her, he grabbed her outstreched hand and grinned, pulling her into his arms and holding her tight for a moment, resting his head on her shoulder. He losened his hold on her moving his arms down her back a little and seperating himself from her enough just to look at her properly, to see her face, and with the same calm, soft expression on his face he said softly "It is really good to see you again Angela"

"You too." She says with a big grin, "really good." She buries her face into his shoulder to hide her reddening cheeks brought on my a mixture of the cold and his expression, warming her cold nose against his dark clothing before getting self concious about hugging him too long and pulling back.
"I have two others with me, they're back over there a way with my rucksack... um, what about you?" She asks looking at the other girl, Lace? Had that been what Will had called her...? She hoped the it wasn't just the one girl with him, their relationship had always been just friends officially, but she'd always felt more and it seemed to go both ways - her blood fizzed a bit at the idea of him being with someone else even if it had been her fault they'd separated; she blamed it on herself anyway. She should never have let them part.

Will saw Angela eye Lacey when she asked who he was travelling with and couldn't help but grin "This is Lacey" he said as he turned and started walking towards her, he grabbed Angela's hand and dragged her along. "We met a few months ago, though before that I met a girl named Christie" he cut himself off for a moment, remembering Chris was alone "we should probably get back there, I dont like the the idea of her waking up alone, do you mind coming back to our camp dear?"

Angela looked back in the direction of her own camp, thanks to the thick trees that were between her and her fellow travellers she couldn't see them, not even the orange flow of the fire was visible to her. “Um... No, No I don't mind. Jacob and Reese are together so... yeah.” She smiles, “But I will have to get back to them soon, Jacob worries when we aren't all together.”

Chris had kept her eyes closed for more tha fiften minutes or so she assumed and there was no noise. Jerking her eyes open, she leaned back on her elbows as she looked around. Where the hell was Lacey and Will. Morning light was already seeping through and they would have to begin moving off again. Stiffling a frustrated groan, Chris pushed herself up and brushed off the dirt from her jeans. Stretching herself rather unceremoniously, she placed her hands on her hips as she looked in the direction the two had headed off.

"You would think they'd at least tell me where they were going," Chris muttered under her breath. She took a tentative step in their direction before walking confidently down the path in search of them.
