Next year, I'm making my own board for GR2011. I'm sick of the 502, 503, and 504 errors I've been running into every time a round starts, as well as the 15 minute log outs.

The final round has officially started. I'm going to put up the last reserve fight thread now.

I know it's a little early to be asking this, but I plan on hosting the second Grassroots next year, and I wanted comments, criticisms, and suggestions from those who viewed, participated, or judged in this year's tournament. What did you like? What wasn't executed as well as you thought it could be? Any ideas I haven't thought of? Let me know your thoughts and I'll improve on the tournament for next year's, which I'm planning on hosting earlier, say, May or June of 2011.

I think that the spread of power levels was too big -- next time I'd say pick a more defined level. The tier for this was quite expansive, so maybe tighten it up -- but definitely don't make it any higher, I liked that it wasn't a very high tier thing. Also, the stage advantages in the semi-finals, whilst applying largely to specifically the characters involved, were obviously things that could've been improved.

I liked the fact that it was aimed largely at people newer/less 'pro' in the fighting scene, though. My first tournament that I've thought would be worth entering xD. I also liked the lobby aspect, and the way that the tournament was run as one big IC event, sorta. If you get what I mean. <<

The power level spread was mostly my fault, really. Darien probably is level 4 on a good day, but on the other end of the scale, you had the various follies of Total Brave and Souloe. So glad both of those honkers went down in the first round. Next time around, yeah, say that people have to be at a certain power level, nothing above OR BELOW. That would help somewhat.

In defense of Manti, however, I will have to say that it's very difficult to design a stage that will host a character that can manipulate the ground, as it's often all too easy for the character to make the arena itself into an ally of sorts.
How long will he keep on fighting? How long will his pain last? Maybe only the X-Buster on his hand knows for sure...

Parabola, would you be willing to extend this fight till the death/surrender of either of our characters?

Personally, I think the final round should be a fight to the finish, instead of a fight to judgment.
(also, it's like 2/3 of the way through the match and we've only just found each other)

*edit* i don't know how winning got in there, should have been willing*

4 days posting limit plus 7 hours, so double post has been made.

Expending smite and Blood Freezer on this attack, seeing as the requisite 3 turns of study have passed for the latter.

Just a heads up that I'll probably get a post in tomorrow or the day after. Had a lot of hectic holidaying, not been able to focus enough to get a post up. But it'll happen soon :)

I felt the same during my fight with Manti, Iowa. Feel your pain. Good job on making it this far, though. You stood up to Souloe's BS, something even I shy away from, and came out on top. You've got a good character and a good head, and I've sure you'll do well in the future.

Edit: Actually, last post is void due to time limit being reached. Whoopsie.

Thanks QB, you were very supportive. I can only hope that you have the same luck.

And a good luck to the final participants!

Looks like I got off easy on this round; I won't have to judge any fights due to the indefinite extension of Manti vs Para's fight, and iowa's surrender.

Ah I had read Syl seeing the second boulder as he had seen it coming from the ground, not as a reflex. My mistake then Parabola thanks for clearing that up.

I'm liking the final match thus far, it's a very good fight. I have the awards pretty much set in stone at this point, and I'm glad that there was such a good, positive response to the tournament and lots of activity (there were 0 no-shows in the main bracket, which makes me very, very happy).

If you guys want I can put up the miscellaneous awards now, and then post the placements once the final match ends.

Sorry. :/ I've had exams at school this last week. Will try and post sometime soon.

Edit: The post response limit is five days, correct? So surely I should have until the end of today before you can make a double post? :|

Edit edit: I'll hold off on posting till I can get confirmation on whether or not the double post was valid. Because that's really disheartening >_> but eh, if a judge say's its okay I won't cause a fuss.

First post was on Wed Jan 12, 2011 2:33 am

That is greater than 5 days (120 hours), and therefore valid. Continue the fight as is.

Whatever the result of the electrical charge, I concede victory to Manticore -- I only put it in because it was present in my previous post. I'm not being an asshole and trying to force a draw =P
