The Interstellar Waltz (Sci-Fi Nation RP)

Okay, see now what you mean when you compare the IGCC to the USSR.

I do want to clarify that the "Butter Sells Better" trait doesn't nessarly mean that less money is spent on repair (comapritivly) but that whole fleets would be moth balled and stored in interstellar "boneyards" where they wait for either decommissioning or being reactivated for service.

I also want to clarify that each member state has it's own militia and security force as well, so it's not just the "Small reactive standing army" that will move to stop an invading force. This wasn't included in the sheet since I didn't have place to put it.

that does rather clear up a lot, though the problem becomes using militia to stop an invasion, and while you would fare a good bit better than with just a small peace keeping force, you would be stuck pretty much doing mostly delay tactics until your main force was mobilized.

Hm...I suppose I'll have to start coming up with battle tactics as well. A little nick here, a small strike team there, and all your base are belong to us. >=D

I just noticed something, though. Am I the only Tier Three nation? O.o

ya, there arn't any tier 2 nations I think, and like 3 tier 1 nations

Well the Tchtter don't really have much in the way of strategy. They are constrained to the lack of stealth their traits give them. They have immense processing power, whole fleets move on a dime and whatnot, but they still use simple tactics. You guys are arguing about the USSR right? Well the Tchtter actually don't care about their troops. They follow the Imperial Guard motto from Warhammer 40K: Throw bodies at it until it breaks. What they lack in skill they make up for in pure size. They can outproduce any other nation of similar size do to Biotech, Adv Biotech, and Nanowanker, which together with Hard workers and the industry trait make them the masters of mass producing ships. They just come at you in synch and don't stop till they are out of ships or bullets. Considering the ability to grow their own ammo mid-fight... they won't stop at all.

Tactics? Their ships are polar in armament. All of them have fighters, which are the best in the rp due to the Better Than Your Strikecraft, which can fit a long or short range role. They are all armed with missiles of some kind, I will add a section I forgot to use (it talks about missiles payloads and all the different kind of missile chassis) about this. They also are obsessed with boarding enemy ships. Half their ship classes have boarding equipment, and there are dropships in every ship that move with fighters to board from long range.

So it would be a missile duel followed by fighter strikes mixed with ships moving in to board with their dropships doing the same the whole time.

For my own dear Siridar, they're turtles, really. They send in their powerful dreadnaughts to civilise the planets and crush any resistance, then when the main system (and several outliers) are civilised, call in the Imperial Astral Engineers and fortify, digging in in a very big and hard-to-dislodge way, before moving on. It leads to long wars, but minimizes Siridar casualties as they have a string of fortified bases to fall back to and automated defences don't incur Siridar losses.

Their version of a surgical strike, a blitzkrieg raid, is much the same as their normal modus operandi, but they don't fortify and simply fall back.

The Tchtter are really not going to like the Siridar, I think... 'Missiles heading towards us? Oh well. Dropships too, you say, and fighters? The defences can handle it, old chap. Nothing to worry about.'

And as for their land tactics - 'Rods from God' would play merry hell with their bases and armies...

A fight would be rather amusing The Tchtter tend to move fast, not quite Blitzkreig, but close. They can drop biological materials down on a planet, usually from a pod shot from orbit, and come back a week later to defenses growing out of the ground. They may be weaker but at least it looks pretty!

You and me though, it would be what happens when an unstoppable force hits an unmovable object. Also known as a slaughter for both sides. Throw bodies at it until it breaks indeed... It would be pretty bad for both nations. The Tchtter would call it off after a bit. They are not crazy, just pitiless.

But lets stop waving our E-penises around and actually start posting!

I've just updated my profile to include several ships if any of you would like to take a look. My F-U pirates are ready to pillage, Yargh!

I may post soon, just to get my feet wet.

EDIT: I haven't decided who to pick on first with my pirating. It's actually a very tough decision, as most nations would crush the FU if I pissed them off too much. Maybe the Tchtter, they don't seem like they would hurt anyone. :lol:

hmm, didn't see that part my bad XD, well this is interesting, as the only way to enter my system is to pass though randomly changing passages through the mine fields. Its still possible for him to get there though, so I'll just have my dudes freak the holy hell out XD I'll get on that in a bit. Not that there seems to be any hurry in this RP though :/
