June 11 2021-Downtown, King City Municipality Building

Event: Bridges leading out of King City are out.

Event: Intermittent blackouts lasting 20 minutes to a few hours.

Event: Police indiscriminately arresting males between 16 and 40 years, suspects will be held in custody until further notice.

Around 10:00 A.M. a caravan of 3 black SUVs arrive at the municipality building, this is around the time the major, Adam Weselon arrives at his workplace.

On the way to his office he is greeted by subordinates and other public servants in the hallways, some try to remind him of work related issues or get him to look at some proposals. He salutes his co workers warmly and kindly postpones work for later.

Once in his office he gets comfortable and sets his express coffee machine for a warm mug of caffeine. He sits down and calls in his personal secretary through the intercom. Shortly after, a young woman in her twenties walks into the office as one does into their living room.

"Hey..." She flashes an indecent smile at him.

He ignores her and shoots straight for business. "Did the storm break any bridges?" He asks almost assuming.

The secretary notices she has been rejected, a little surprised she answers. "Uh... Um... Yes sir..." She makes a pause still taken back by the lack of informality. "Thirty miles west on The Katar highway the bridge over Payon river is out." Then she remembers some other information. "Also the power generator was somehow damaged and the power in the city is not constant."

"I know that already... How about Royal Heights? There should be power there."

"I don't know sir, I can check if you want me too."

The major sighs. "Please do that and that list I gave you..." He reminded her and then made a pause to taste his coffee. "Call everyone on the list I gave you yesterday, they should also have constant power." He says in a bored tone.

"Yes Adam." His secretary answers, before proceeding to do what she was ordered.

The major leans back in his chair and turns towards the panoramic window behind him. As he looks at the city around beyond, his thoughts wander to what concerns him the most. He is tired of this secretary of his, she has worked here for almost six months, about the same time they have been secretly seeing each other.

He once thought she was the best woman he ever had but after using and abusing her in every way he can think of he found out she really wasn't that interesting.

"I need a new secretary..." He pointed out the solution to his problem out loud.

A big part of his plan was still not verified, he recalled. He picked up the office phone and dialed on the keypad.

"General Cormorant." The phone answered after a few rings.

"General!" The major said to the phone suddenly changing from bored to a fake smile.

Both "friends" asked how the other was doing and held a small trivial conversation over the phone about their respective families.

"Don't worry about a thing Adam, the streets are going to be clear of any trouble for you, my men are already patrolling and taking the garbage of the streets, were going to keep them away for a day or two until you get the generator fixed as agreed."

"That's what I wanted to hear General, you make a great friend."

"Same to you Adam." The phone answered. "By the way I waned to talk to you about your daughter..."

And the two partners continued to talk away about the terms of their alliance while the actions of these two men they takes effect on the thousands around them.

"Saraswati Gawas." She said, putting on a fake demure smile. "I should be on the guest list." She handed the guard her I.D. card - obviously forged. "Have a nice night Miss Gawas." the man said, handing the card back to her. She walked through the gate, entering the courtyard which was wall-to-wall with champagne-drinking guests in glitzy dresses and expensive suits. Ahn did her best to slide by unnoticed, clad in a tight black dress and high heels. She made her way down a corridor, slipping past two sleeping security guards and a few cameras. Ascending the central stairway, she ran into a problem. An armed guard stood adjacent to the hallway where her prize was. Realizing what she had to do, she approached the woman, doing her best to look lost. "Ma'am, this area is off limits. You need to turn around and go back to the courtyard." Ahn walked closer. "I know, I was just wondering where I could find the-" Before she could finish her sentence, Ahn grabbed the guard by her hair, and slammed her head into the marble wall she stood next to. She was out cold, but she wouldn't be for long.

Ahn had maybe 15 minutes before the body was discovered. Tops. She hurried into the room, which appeared to be the average office. Bookshelves, a computer, and a pretty little safe sitting behind a mahogany desk. She sat down at the computer, plugging in a black portable hard-drive. With the firewall overriding software running, she turned her attention to the safe. Ahn knew she could crack it, but she didn't have that kind of time. She took outa clay-like device with a thick black box and wires taped to it. With all her force, she slammed it onto the lock of the safe, and stood back. Within a matter of seconds, smoke and sparks filled the air. Ahn flung the blackened safe door open, nearly burning her hand. Inside, she found a pistol, a stack of files, and at least 25,000 in cash. She grabbed the stack or papers, and stuffed them in her bag.

Turning back to the computer, she unhooked the hard-drive, onto which everything had been downloaded, and started to walk back to the door when a man double her size burst through the door, aiming a pistol at Ahn. "Drop the bag and put your hands on your head." he said in a rough, brisk tone. Without a second of hesitation, she swatted the weapon out of his hand and managed to catch it before it hit the ground, pumping a round into the man's knee. He yelped in pain, and fell to his knees. Without thinking, Ahn shot him again in the other knee and once in the shoulder. She didn't know why she did it, but she did. She threw the gun and ran out the door. Sprinting to the end of the corridor was hard enough in heels, and the fact that five guards were shooting at her didn't help either. She spotted a door, and without bothering to check if it was open, rammed head on though the glass, and disappeared down the lawn into the night.
