Hiru desperately clawed at the hand grasping his throat. 'Wh-why?' he attempted to say, but all that escaped was a pained gurgle. "I will liberate your inner hollow." 'What the hell... is a hollow? Shit, I can't breathe....' Hiru finally managed to hook his fingers onto Suza's hands, but the shinigami's grip was too strong. Slowly, Hiru's arms dropped to his side as his world went dark, his eyes closed. 'I don't... want to die... like this...'
'Then don't.'
Hiru's eyes snapped open, his hand flying to his neck. "Where the hell am I?" The world around him had completely changed. Instead of a small city, he found himself within a richly decorated banquet hall. In the middle of the room sat a long, rectangular dining table, covered in a silk dining cloth, silver platters, crystal goblets, and a wide assortment of expensive foods. Lining the windowless walls were large framed portraits of vast landscapes covered in chains, or figures bound with bandages. Between these portraits stood giant suits of armor. These too were encircled with chains and bandages, the face plates replaced with carbon copies of the mask Hiru had.
Hiru slowly made his way from his side of the hall to the next, heading towards the open fireplace set into the far wall. As he came near, he noticed two large chairs sitting in front of the fireplace. "Hello?" Hiru asked, not really expecting an answer. "Ah, i wondered when you would pay me a visit. Please, come, sit down. Make yourself at home."
Started, he made his way around and sat in one of the chairs, before turning to regard the man who had spoke. Sitting tall in his throne, calmly drinking tea, was a man covered from head to toe in bandages. After taking a final sip of his tea and setting it down on a small platter in front of him, he turned to face Hiru. "Hello, young master," spoke the man in a dignified matter. "H-hi," replied the startled Hiru. "Um, excuse me, but... where am I?"
The man smiled, revealing a mouth full of curving, needle-like teeth. "Where indeed, Hiru Kisei." "How do you know my name?" The man let out a drawn out, barking laugh. "Oh, I know everything about you, dear Hiru. Tell me, where do you think you are?" Hiru was a bit off-set by the question. "Well, I don't know. It, it kind of feels like... like this place is... mine."
"Oh, how right you are my friend. You see, this," the man gestured around the dining hall. "is your soul." "My soul?" "Yes, it is a mental representation of all that is you." Hiru stared at the man sceptically. "If this is my soul, then who the hell are you?" "Ah, that's right, I haven't introduced myself have I? I am Houtaikokuou, and I am the blade that you have at your side." Hiru opened his mouth to speak, but Houtaikokuou raised his hand to silence him. "That is no ordinary blade. It is a zanpakuto. When you return to the fight, speak my name and I'll show you a small portion of my power. But before you go... let me show you the darker part of your soul."
Houtaikokuou reached up towards his bandaged face, and yanked them away, revealing two piercing, black and yellow eyes. As the rest of the bandages fell away, the now transformed Houtaikokuou lunged with wide jaws at a now screaming Hiru.
-------
Outside of his soul, Hiru had fallen pathetically still. And then... a twitch of the hand there, a slight movement of the jaw. And then all hell broke loose.
The white bone mask appeared upon his face near instantaneously, the fanged maw opening wide in the pained scream of a hollow. With a powerful punch towards Suza's face, he sent the shinigami flying, releasing the captain's grip on him. Houtaikokuou. He spoke calmly, simple staring in mild interest as his blade transformed. The blade sank into the guard, which expanded until it formed a mid-sized shield that attached itself to his left arm. From under the shield, bandages flowed out, engulfing his arm up to the shoulder, and a small portion of his chest. It was then the blade erupted from the shield, extending out past his wrist for a good 3 feet before finally coming to a rest. With his now fully transformed blade, Hiru got into a ready stance and awaited his opponents next move.
