Thinking about starting a roleplay, but don't have the idea completely finished? Post it here, not in the main OOC forum!

I would be honoured to GM this RP, as long as Hoot and everyone else thinks that is a good idea. However, if I am to GM, I have a few things to put out there before I start to plan things:

1. I propose the idea of us playing a squad of Mandalorians and a squad of Republic. That seems to be the most fair to me and also the most fun.

2. I believe that the time period should be before KOTOR, around 3,961BBY. That way the war is well underway and we have a fairly clean and open slate to play on.

3. I think that we could have a maximum of two Force sensitives, as they are far more common then in the ABY era. However, only one of them could be a Jedi, and I don't think that any more powerful then a Knight should be allowed. This limit applies to the Mandalorians, except there would be no Force sensitives, and no one super powerful. That means no Mandalore for you Conqueror_Man. Besides, the leader of the Mandalorians during the War was Te Ani'la Mand'alor, also known as Mandalore the Ultimate, and no one here is nearly awesome enough to play him, no offense.

4. How many people should we have in the RP? If there is a Jedi amongst the Republic, then the Mandalorians should outnumber them, if not, then the Republic should out number the Mandalorians. Right now we have three out of six people that want to play Mandalorians, and three "undecided." My insane fandalorian love pretty much forces me to one side, so the rest of you may fight amongst yourselves for roles. But I really think that the Mandalorians should be outnumbered if there is no Jedi.

I think that about does it, let me know what you all think.

Cheers,

TheWalrus

I'm all for you leading man, I just want someone else to lead besides me. :P AND you know the most here for sure, so take charge man. Go ahead and put up an OOC for sign ups and the like, since your incharge now. I myself will be Republic, since i'm sure someone else will want to be the jedi, I am fine with being a soldier of some kind. BUT if no one wants to be the jedi, i'm more than happy to fill the role...or if we just don't want any jedi that is perfectly fine as well.

Alright, well I'll set up an OOC when we hear back from a few more people. Again, thank you Hoot for letting me GM, but the idea was yours in the first place, so I will continue to give you credit. Ha ha ha.

So we've got one Republic and two Mandalorians CONFIRMED. Good.

Oh, and no Basilisks...one Mandalorian with one of those could level a small town, a few Republic soldiers would be no match. I've got to say though, they are a massive amount of win.

I think I will step up and take the role of the "Force Sensitive"

I'm thinking of a Force Sensitive Republic Sniper. Like I said before, he would have a lightsaber, though since I'm gonna be Republic I'll say he found it or something and decided to keep it. Being force sensitive allows him to make incredible shots with his rifle, much like Darth Bane during his time serving in the Sith Military.

If anyone has no objections to this, of course
Everything changes...

I know it was mentioned earlier, but I just didn't know. I guess since we are doing squads, there is no space for space battles.

I don't think we'll have much in the way of space combat, unless you all want to. If we did however, it would only be in the beginning; leading to the players crash-landing or deploying or whatevering on the planet. Personally, I really don't think we need it. But if you all really want me to integrate it in, I can think of a way; just keep in mind that it will be short.

While I am pleased that someone else wants to join the Republic side, and that someone also wants to be the Force sensitive, I think that the character you've described is a bit over-powered. Now, now, let me explain:

1. For starters, if you're in the Republic military and can take Force-assisted shots with a sniper rifle, then I'm fairly sure that someone would have picked up on that and informed the Jedi Council.

2. Secondly, you really can't compare yourself to Darth Bane. He was one of the most pivotal Dark Lords of the Sith that ever existed, the man responsible for establishing the Rule of Two. There hadn't been another Lord like him since Revan, and there wouldn't be another one until Vader. That's a long expanse of time separating amazingly powerful Sith Lords, and I just can't let you play someone that powerful.

3. Finally, I think that the idea that having a lightsaber "but I won't use it" is frankly stupid. Really, no offense, but for one it takes lots of training to use a lightsaber even half-way decent without cutting your hand off, and if I had a lightsaber, I would sure as hell use it all the time. After all, if you have a lightsaber, you don't need anything else.

Now, I don't intend on sounding like a hard-ass, but I just want the RP to be fun for everyone. Think about it like this: almost all of the Star Wars films, books, and games revolve around the Jedi, and often the really pivotal Jedi. However, shows like the Clone Wars, and games like Republic Commando and Rogue Squadron are a bit more concerned with the "common man." Not everyone needs to have a ace up their sleeve, and not everyone gets an ace up their sleeve.

My point is, if you want to play a Force sensitive with a lightsaber, then just play the Jedi. We don't need people with crazy skills or special powers, that isn't really Star Wars. Really, it's not. Remember that there is more to the Galaxy then your Luke Skywalkers and your Boba Fetts. We can't all be those characters, and if everyone here wants to be characters like that, then I'm not the right GM for this job.

That being said, I'll put up the OOC for the RP in a few minutes to an hour. If anyone has a problem with what I just talked about, and if the RP is no longer appealing to you, then please say so. Also, I wasn't attacking you or your character Luke, I just used it as an example, please don't take any offense.

Cheers,

I'm not taking any offense, but it seems to me that you kind of drastically misunderstood what I was saying.

For One: I was NOT saying that he would be like Darth Bane. I only used Darth Bane as a reference because of what he did during the first Darth Bane book, when he managed to make a "miracle shot" during his military days. I never said anything about using force powers or being powerful at all, just merely a sniper that gets lucky sometimes.

Two: I never said I wouldn't use the lightsaber. The character found it, he kept it, and he uses it when he needs to because he lacks in proper training. As proven in the Original (and best) Trilogy, when Han Solo uses Lukes lightsaber to cut open the Tauntaun, Anyone can use a lightsaber. I never said he would fight with it, or deflect bullets, or do other miraculous things with the lightsaber. Merely that he would have it and if, I don't know, say a he needed to get into something that was locked, like a room, or if heavy cables were holding something down, He'd just whip out the lightsaber and use it like a tool; Not a weapon.

Three: You say that he would be reported to the Jedi council for his Force-Assisted shots. Well, again, I never said that EVERY shot would be a miracle, Force Assissted shot. It'd be just that, like, Every once in a while he might pull off a lucky shot. Trust me, I am far from a power player, especially when it comes to Star Wars threads. In almost every SW thread I've been in I try and not be a Jedi, except for the one that I made and I kind of had to be the Sith Lord/Main Jedi to keep the story in the direction I wanted it.

I have no problem with doing away with the Force and the lightsaber both. The only problem I have with being a soldier in a thread is that I have an obsession with being stuck behind enemy lines.

Again, I wasn't offended by what you said, I just thought that I needed to explain it a little better because, to me, it seemed as though you misunderstood what I was trying to say...

I have one small concern, since we are going to be split in a Mandalorian squad and Republic squad, will our characters be close to eachother or have they just been put together?

Alright, so the OOC is officially up. Sorry it took me so long, I've been having computer troubles today. The link is as follows:
post597201.html?hilit=#p597201
Please direct any comments and questions to that thread, thank you.

I did indeed misunderstand you Luke, but please keep in mind that I have to assume that everyone is trying to God-mod. Please don't take it personally. Your character is fine for the RP as far as I can see, although you may pursue the Jedi if you want to.

As for Hoot's question, I would think that the Mandalorians would be a much closer group then the Republic, as the Republic soldiers have been assembled from throughout the galaxy, and the Mandalorians are a tight-knit warrior culture.

I look forward to seeing all you in the OOC!
