Hey guys, for a while now I have been interested in a Knight of the Old Republic roleplay, since the Mandalorian Wars are a very important story element, I was hoping for a role play about them. To be 100% honest, I have no experience at all in leading a forum roleplay. I know how to take part in one, just not lead one. This is simply an idea and I am interested to know if anyone else would be interested in an RP like this. If enough people are interested, I will try my best to set up the storyline and everything for the RP OR, if someone with more experience would like to do so, I will let them lead the RP.

Well it was a big war so you could do alot of things with it,it could be a loose rp story or a (everyone has to be in the same area)type of thing.any idea im fine with.

Its a big galaxy, if its loose there would be very little to no character interaction. I'd prefer to keep everyone together, for the most part. I've got a couple basic ideas i'd like to run by you guys:

1. Group of mercs, working both sides. We could give everyone rolls within the group, like, medic, blaster specialist, melee specialist, techy, pilot etc
2. One of the smaller Mandalorian clans fighting against the Republic (Same rolls as mercs)
3. Group of jedi knights fighting for Revan and Malak
4. A Republic squad fighting against the Mandalorians (same rolls as mercs)

An idea that I've seen used on another Star Wars RP is that two forces, in this case the Republic and the Mandalorians, are fighting over a planet. This way, we could have space battles, space interaction, planet battles, and all sorts of things.

What do you think? I mean, we would have to work out the specifics about what's on the planet and why they are fighting over it, but I don't think it would be too hard to create our own planet. Like you said, it's a big galaxy and I'm sure there are unknown planets just waiting to be named and fought over

I like Luke's idea. Fighting over a common purpose would narrow down our focus a little, as well as give us something to write about in our character history, like what the planet means to them, etc.

I'll admit I'm not well-versed in Star Wars lore, but this sounds interesting. I'll do some research if this takes off well.

Sounds good to me! If we are going to create a new planet we are going to need to come up with a name, list of life forms, climate, size, landscape, history etc. Anyone have any ideas for a planet or should we just stick with one that is already in existance?

Well, since it was my idea, I can come up with the planet. Here is a very rough version of the planet I am thinking of, and if anyone has any suggestions please say so...

Name: Theta

Climate: Very wet climate. In the more inland areas it would range from being very rainy to being hot and humid. Large, dark grey thunderclouds can almost always be seen on the horizon, if not directly above you. Due to the heat and humidity when it's not raining, it gets very hot and uncomfortable, forcing military forces to cut down on what they wear.

In the coastal regions there are many tropical storms and hurricanes. The oceans of this planet do not go very deep, leaving many tropical islands dotted throughout the blue waters.

Size: Roughly the size of Earth, maybe a little bit bigger.

Landscape: The landscape of Theta is somewhat of a constant everywhere you go. Mainly consisting of jungles, mountains, and valleys. Due to the very wet climate of the planet, many rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams cover the land.

Civilization: The planet has no means of modern civilization. The few Republic Survey teams that actually monitored the planet found no sign of life at all aside from the wild animals that inhabit the jungles.

History: Not much is known about the planet. The only reason the battle has been brought to this quaint little world is because rumor has it that an ancient civilization used this planet to store a weapon capable of destroying entire worlds. The opportunity to obtain such a weapon is reason enough to fight for control of the planet...


Eh, it's not much. Had to kind of rush it. I also have an obsession with jungle environments, so if anyone wants to change it just say so.

Another thing I would think to do is to limit the amount of Jedi within the Roleplay. If not, almost every player will be a Jedi. I've seen this happen in other Star Wars roleplays, and to be honest it gets boring. The character I had planned for this thread would've been a Commando/Sniper, part of an Elite Team that is sent behind enemy lines. He would, of course, have a lightsaber that he found or had taken from a Jedi he had killed, but he would not be force sensitive.

Sounds like a great idea to me, personally I love the KOTOR era, and the Mandalorians in particular. Not that I am a fandalorian or anything, nor would I want to join the 501st as a Mandalorian. *COUGH* Anyway, I'm game for this RP.

Very cool, very cool indeed. Theta sounds like a cool place for this RP to take place. And as for the jedi problem, didn't Revan and Malak join the war in the middle of it? Or did they lead the front of it?

Revan came in at the beginning of the Mandalorian Wars.

Revan gathered Jedi followers to combat the Mandalorians, and was able to quickly enlist a number of like-minded volunteers, forming a faction that would come to be known as the Revanchists. Anticipating a Mandalorian invasion, they scouted the battlefront without the knowledge or consent of the Jedi Council.

In 3,963 BBY, the Mandalorian Invasion began, and in 3,962-ish BBY the Revanchists intervened to help the Republic counterattack.

In 3,960 BBY, Revan forced a final confrontation with the Mandalorians above Malachor V. He deployed a massive fleet to the planet consisting mostly of those whose loyalties to himself.

Finally, in 3,959 BBY, Revan suddenly returned to the Galactic Republic at the head of a massive invasion fleet which consisted of commandeered Republic vessels as well as numerous vessels of unknown design. Calling himself Darth Revan, he declared war on the Republic.

Oh, and Malak is in there somewhere, but I don't like him, so whatever.

Also, in this RP, I'd like to play a Mandalorian, I've no interest to be a Jedi. Hope that helps.

Ah, well there aren't a lot of jedi so there will be maybe one or two on Theta anyway so thats not much of a problem.

Well, we still need someone to come up with a little bit more of a deeper storyline and the like. As well as get up a sign up sheet and stuff. Would anyone like to take charge? If no one wants to I will. Luke? (You seem to be leading the charge thus far)

For the story line, any sort of reason for the planet to be contested would be good enough on the surface, and as the RP goes we could flesh out the deeper parts of the story. I would like to reserve a spot on the Mandalorian side (If no one minds, and it's okay I would like to RP as a Mandalor).

Erm, I guess I can get things set up with the thread and all, but I really think that Walrus should be the leader or at least GM of this thread. His knowledge of the Mandalorian Wars far exceeds mine. I mostly specialize in the area taking place after Return of the Jedi. You know: Thrawn, Yuuzhan Vong, Skywalkers, Solo's...

Anywho, If you guys want me to lead this thread I would really like Walrus to be a GM, even though I'd prefer it for him to lead...

Yea the planet sounds awesome everyone loves a jungle war.But i have no problem with anyone leading.I would also like to play on the mandalorian side of the war.I just have one question is the war on the planet before or after Revan and Malak joined the republic fleet?
