The young Centaur reached the lake and set down her lamp on a nearby log. As she gazed down into the water at her reflection, a beautiful face stared back at her. But it was not her reflection. The face in the water rose up, breaking the surface of the lake. One sitting up, the girl in the water tossed her bushy, light brown hair to one side. All that covered her abdomen was a long pearl necklace. From the waist down, all that could be seen was a fishes tail.

The pretty young Centaur bolted in fear, leaving her lamp behind. The small, glowing pixie within the lamp shook its tiny fists in fury at being left alone. The mermaid-like creature, named Melanie, yawned widely, two glistening fangs showing through. She drifted lazily to the lake's edge and hauled herself out by her webbed hands and half-slithered half-crawled to the log on which the lamp was set. Unscrewing the lid of the lamp, she softly sung to herself in a strange sort of language. The small pixie flew free and she discarded the lamp before pulling herself onto the log to perch there. Her silvery tail writhed and beat softly against the log and her song grew louder, as strange yet beautiful mer-song rang through the forest and across the lake. It sounded not unlike a whale's song. She tossed her glistening hair over her shoulder and her song got gradually louder. To most it would seem as though she were innocently singing. To those who were a little wiser, they'd know that she was luring prey...

------------------------------------

A large seeker deer darted through the forest, bleating mercilessly as it ran. A stocky wolf was right behind it, snapping at the large buck's heels. The buck skidded and turned, a look of menace in it's small, black eyes. It lowered it's head which bore massive antlers, as if it were going to charge. It scraped it's hoof along the ground. The wolf did not seem phased, as it slowly circled it's prey. The deer's hoof seemed to twist and contort, but the wolf didn't seem to notice for the darkness. The deer seemed to become larger and bulkier, it's fur dissapearing and being replaced with leathery grey skin and it's antlers vanishing into it's head, being replaced instead with large points on it's snout. The wolf didn't notice until it was much too late, and within seconds the wolf was hurtling through the air, yelping as he had just been charged by a vast Rhinocerous.

The Rhino snorted triumphantly and reverted back to the form of a buck. 'That'll learn him. Jerk.' The deer said, smirking. It was now apparent that this was not an ordinary deer. He leaned forward, peering into the darkness. 'What do we have here...' He whispered. A female form was racing through the trees, as though running away from something. Realising that this was a centaur, he suddenly transformed. He made a handsome centaur, with a white horses body and blonde hair and tail. His aim had been to woo or mate, but she raced straight past him, not bothering to give him a second glance. Defeated, he reverted back to his original, vampire form and sat at the base of a tree, unbuttoning the first few buttons of his shirt and ruffling his unruly blonde hair. 'Ah well.' He hissed, his icy blue eyes glinting through the blackness.

A young elf was walking through the woods the light was beginning to fade and there was a slight glint of light reflect off his armor and shield. In his sheath he bore a finely crafted sword which his father gave him when he was old enough. He stopped and listened the sound of hoofs could be heard in the distance, moments later he saw a centaur running as if it was frightened.
Suddenly the silence broke with a melody that would make any man follow its trail. He felt compelled to follow the sound.

A few birds hopped to the ends of branches to peer down in envy at the creature which drowned out their singing. The cold air dried the water droplets from Melanie's pale skin and scales as she sang her sweet songs. A shoal of ghostly white fish leapt from the lake, as though trying to get closer to the sound. The fan-like part of her tail beat against the log like a demented butterfly. Her large, long-lashed eyes flickered shut. She could hear something treading on the leaves of the forest floor, but she didn't stop to see what it was. She just kept on singing. Kept on luring.

As he moved some bushes aside he noticed it was a mermaid who was singing the enchanting song. One part of him wanted to approch but the other wanted to stay put. Moving his blonde hair aside he felt the urge to show himself and walked out.

Two cat-like eyes flickered open. Melanie kept singing as she looked, what she took to be an elf, up and down. Her song seemed to get gradually quieter until it became just a whisper. Her potential prey seemed well armed. As thoughts and methods on how exactly to attack and eat him swept through her mind, her gaze dragged up to his face. For a second or two, she wondered to herself if she could actually bring herself to kill him or not. Her song stopped. Silence filled the clearing. She waited for her would-be prey to make a move, or speak.

"What was that you sang." he asked as she stopped. He stood for a second then said "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Logan Utherdragon, Guardian of Tothian." he bowed politely unaware of the mermaids intensions. He glanced back at her and smile then walked closer and waited for a reply.

A puzzled expression broke across her pretty features. What was he doing? Why the introduction? A thousand languages flitted through her head until she came to the right one. Human English. She cleared her throat a little. He voice would often sound different in her mermaid form as her voicebox was a little different from that of her Vampire form since in her mermaid form she generally spoke in mer-tounge. 'Hello?' She said, still a little confused. She wasn't sure whether to proceed with killing him or not. He seemed too large for her to take down now, but as long as she kept trying to lure him there may be hope yet. 'I'm...Melanie.'

She seemed to hiss slightly as she spoke when in her mermaid form, but it went away for some reason as soon as she took her vampire form. 'Itsss...a song.' She stated the obvious. 'In mer-language.' She added. 'I sing everyday to lu-' She cut off. 'What are you doing here?' She said softly, smiling. She knew why he was here, but she wanted to hear his answer.

Logan looked at Melanie and chuckled before saying "I was simply out for a stroll in this wonderful woods, but the darkness has started to invade my home." He looked at the dark night through the leaves and spoke "Its amazing that something so dark can have so much power." he glanced back at Melanie "do you know of the doom curse" he asked.

Cale walked through the forest, hand in his pockets so as to avoid touching anything. He'd accidently brushed up against a tree branch recently, and the memories still sent a chill down his spine. He perked up a little when he heard a beautiful song in the distance. The tone was alluring, and he couldn't resist. He headed toward the noise.

After he'd walked for a little while, the singing stopped. Cale looked around, wondering what the source of the song had been, and continued in the same direction before stumbling across a blonde guy sitting near the trees. He stopped, blinked, then asked the guy eagerly, "Do you know where that song was coming from?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arianna glided overhead, wings spread wide to catch all the air current she could. She missed the days when she could soar through the air as the sun came up, lighting up the forest with oranges and pinks as though it had been set on fire. She sighed before joining a flock of birds perched in a tree near the lake. She lightly landed on one of the branches, and stopped when she heard voices. She cocked her head to one side, and watched the elf-man interact with mermaid, completely interested. Other beings fascinated her.

She cocked her head, gently fanning her body with the end of her tail. 'I can't say I do, no.' She said in her whispery voice. This was true. She didn't know what the doom curse was. She decided not to mention her opinion on the darkness. She loved it since she can't go out in daylight, and now only has to hide away for an hour a day, but she didn't want to reveal to her prey that she was a vampire. That tends to spoil things. He'd only run away, and she couldn't make a meal of him then. Melanie turned her head, noticing Cale appear beside Logan. She purred to herself, twisting her tail happily. Two potential meals. She did feel a little guilty inside. They were almost too pretty to eat. But how could she call herself a good hunter if she was put off by the looks of her prey?
---------------------------------------

A large vulture landed heavily on the branch above the flock of birds. A few of them fluttered away, terrified. Alistair muttered to himself 'Dammit...' before changing to a less noticeable form. He became a dainty white dove, instead of that of a hulking vulture. He edged along to the end of the branch, bearing down on the scenario beneath him. He didn't seem interested. He sensed the pretty mermaid's intentions, but he would rather watch a bloodbath than save innocent lives. He was in that sort of mood. He turned away, bored, and preened his feathers.

Arianna sat on the branch, dangling her legs from it. Another human had appeared near the lake. She grinned a little at their foolishness. How could they not realize the mermaid's intentions? The merpeople were a sly bunch, and they decieved easily. She thought about warning the two men about their fate, but this was nature after all. Better to let it take its course.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cale's eyes widened a little when he noticed the mermaid. He blushed a little, keeping his hands in his pockets, and a shy smile played on his lips. He turned to the mermaid, "Was it you that was singing that amazing song?" He asked this as a child would ask about a suprise.

Alistair peered over the edge of his branch, noticing the girl sitting below him. 'Interesting.' He mumbled to himself, edging along the branch toward the trunk. It was here that he took the form of a fluffy persian cat, and clawed his way down the tree to her branch. There was something odd about her. His round, amber eyes flashed in the darkness. He could make out her wings in the dark. 'Angel, eh?' He whispered, barely audibly. He stalked along the branch before appearing at her side. 'Miueeeeew?' He chirped, tilting his head and staring up at her with big, round eyes.
------------------------

The little mermaid giggled to herself, trying hard not to show her fangs as she did. She just loved male gullibility. She decided to use the killing method that Sirens used. Sing, lure, seduce, kill. She smiled sweetly, battering long eyelashes. Around her eyes seemed to glitter with some strange powder. Probably fairy dust. 'It was.' She purred, in her sweetest voice. To a female she would have sounded sickening but to men, it was quite different.

Arianna started a little when the cat meowed near her. She looked down into its big eyes, and couldn't resist the urge to stroke its head. She scratched behind its ears, and while doing so, watched the scene at the lake unfold. She spoke softly to the cat. "Interesting isn't it? That men are so easily seduced by a simple melody, that I personally find revolting." Her sing-song voice completely relaxed. She wasn't worried about the men. The mermaid had to survive too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cale blushed again. He thought that she must be the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen. He forgot about the forest around him, but the man next to him was a different story. A small pang of jealousy shot through his mind and he turned to glare at the blonde next to him. He quickly corrected this. The man was much larger than himself, and Cale couldn't fight him. As soon as he touched him, he'd know the man better than the man knew himself. He took a deep breath, trying to get a hold of his emotions, but the only thing he could think about was that beautiful song. He forgot about the other man, "Could you sing it again?" He asked innocently.

She drew her tail up to her chest, then sprawled, lounging across her log. She could sense a tinge of jeleousy but she couldn't tell where from. Most likely the smaller, and younger of the two men before her. She smirked a little, looking down at the ground. Singing would only hypnotize, and draw them closer. Just what she wanted. 'You like it then?' She whispered, glancing from Cale to Logan. She uttered a little harmony, lasting only 5 seconds or so. Like a taster. Or a teaser. She giggled and blushed, hiding her face with the end of her tail. It should have seemed obvious that it was all a set up, but she was just too charming.

-As much as it sounds like it, I'm not gonna nom you guys by the way, only you can kill yourselves, no one else xD Thought I might add-
-------------------------------------

Alistair purred as she stroked his head. 'Yeah. Completely sickening. I don't see how they're stupid enough t- Whoops.' He covered his mouth with his fluffy tail in an attempt to hide his slip up.

((haha...I didn't think so. I'm just playing along ;) ))

Cale leaned a little closer to the mermaid, not even thinking about it. He backed up when the singing stopped, blushing. He had to remember not to touch anything. When she asked if he liked it he cleared his throat. "Yes. It's the most gorgeous song I've ever heard!" He didn't realize how childish he sounded, or he wouldn't have said it. Normally, Cale was a very articulate indidvidual. He was wise, even beyond his old age, mostly due to the fact that he'd seen more things in his life than most people even thought about. He continued to stare at the mermaid, occasionally glaring over at the elf-man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arianna quickly removed her hand from the cat's head. "You speak!" She softly exclaimed. Her eyes widened a little before she figured it out. "Ah, a shapeshifter." She smiled, "Tell me, what is your true form?" What luck! She'd seen multiple different creatures today! The thought nearly made Arianna squeal with delight. She loved to watch beings interact.

Asirma walked through the forrest, eyes shifting side to side, while his left hand rested calmly on his sword, as he used his right hand to move the walking stick. He wasn't old, he looked like he was in his mid 30's but the limp in hs right leg was bad. He stopped and looked at the walking stick. It was carved from the bones of a werewolf... Around the main staff was an engraved image...

It held a dimond moon and stars, the earth was made from inlaid gold, with emerald forests and ruby wolves that howled at the moon. At the head of the cane was a golden wolf's head with ruby eyes, its lips parted in a snarl to show its obsidian fangs.

Asirma thought back to a time long passed before walking on. Ahead, he smelled a centaur that seemed to be fleeing in panic. He slipped behind a tree and pulled his sword lightly, lossening it from its sheath... He waited as the sounds of its approach grew louder... Now. He swung the sword in an arc and cut into her front legs, flipping over head first. He began put the sword away and looked down at the struggling centaur, who kicked and lashed out in pain and fear. He stopped. The fear wasn't because of his attack... it was from something else. He faintly heard singing drifting between the trees... and he knew. Asirma took the blade and shifted his grip and brought it down through the centaur's heart, ending the pain and the fear.

He put the sword away and grabbed his walking stick once ore and ventured after the sound... He sensed others were gathering around the lake, drawn in by the bait. Asirma knew better, after more than 2000 years, that a Siren's call was always sweeter than the intent. He began on his way once more, this time heading in the direction of the lake. He had nothing better to do today... and he felt like killing something else.

As he drew closer he sensed an elf and another.. and a few more in the trees... those he couldn't tell or worry about. He tightened a hand on his grip once more and edged to the line that signaled the clearing before the lake. Through the trees, he could see the mirmade and the two fools that had been caught by its trap... He waited just outside of their view, and an idea sprung to mind.

Slowly, he removed his walking stick, sword and armor and began to transform. Asirma wasn't a shapeshifter, he was a werewolf... But not any werewolf, he was a werewolf elder from a time that has long since died out.

Silver fur soon covered his whole body as he bent down on to all fours, as his muscles shifted and bones reformed into his new shape. A silver tail began to emerge behind him, as his snout grew long. He closed his eyes to bear the alteration and when he opened them... they were a dazzling gold. His claws grew long and became almost pure black. His ears became pointed and shifted up his now narrow head. He surpressed a howl as the alteration drew to the half-way point.

Now he began to push himself back onto his hind legs as he took a more humanoid stance... His muscles grew and his forwards paws turned into fingers and hands, each ending with a long and deadly claw. His shoulders began to widen as the muscles rippled under his skin. His head moved forwards slightly as his thick neck shifted up. His knees and legs gre larger as the muscles began to build, yet they remained slightly bent and he seemed to be balancing on the fronts of his hind legs, the heels remaining off the ground like a wolf's. His ears shifted forward and grew slightly larger as his head and snout grew as well. His fangs began to grow out and hang from his mouth. Only the hair around his neck and back of his head turned a more steel-like color, the rest shimmered like metalic silver.

Asirma held back one more wolfish howl before haunching forwards slightly. He rested one of his massive hands against the closest tree trunk and hal panted half growled under his breath. Once he gained his energy again, he would attack.

-Who ever is the angle can see Asirma, but no one else can. Also this will be my longest post from now on, but I had to describe it all now or later...-
"Only the Master can see all the Imperfections in his work."

The mermaid blushed, gazing at Cale, trying to look as sweet and dreamy as she could. Her gaze flitted breifly to Logan. She'd try and make a meal of both of them if she could. If only the elf would come closer. Her smile faded and her catty glare darted into the trees. Nothing. Though she could have sworn she could smell a dog. 'Must have just been a wolf.' She thought to herself, her enchanting smile returning.
-----------------------------------------------

His tail flickered in slight annoyance. Alistair sighed a little. 'Dammit.' He muttered. His tail shrank back into his body before the rest of him started to revert back to his true form. After roughly 15 seconds, a pale, blonde, young vampire was sitting next to Arianna. 'Hello.' He said, guessing he may as well give a more official greeting.

Arianna blinked, smiling. "How delightful! Today alone I have seen many different creatures! Mostly half-breeds, but interesting nonetheless." She smiled at the vampire, "Hello." She looked back down at the mermaid, and narrowed her eyes. Something distracted the decietful creature. Following the mermaid's gaze, Arianna spotted a large, gray wolf creature in the trees. "Oh! A werewolf has joined the scene!" She giggled innocently out of pure joy, and turned back to the vampire. "What brings you to the tree?" She asked, grinning.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A brief moment of reality hit Cale when the mermaid's eyes darted away from him. He saw the true nature for a split second, and her eyes frightened him. He took one step back, eyeing the girl suspiciously, his sensed beginning to come back. "For what reason, exactly, do you sing?" He asked incredulously, keeping his distance.

Things were growing interesting... Asirma sensed the mermaid was distracted by his first transformation, but because of her momentary lapse in her trap, one of the two had broken free and seen part of her true form. He clenched his hand, that rested on the tree, into a fist, gouging long marks into its bark. His strength had almost finished returning to him.

He waited for a few minues more before standing tall. He cracked his neck and back and got ready. He waited for what would happen next before he made a move. He caught sight of some strange movement and looked into the trees. Asirma caught sight of the vampire-changling sitting on the branch and he clenched his jaws in rage. He couldn't see the angle because a patch of leaves hid her form.

Asirma forgot about waiting and let lose a vicious howl. It echoed across the forrest ad silenced all activity by the lake. He bouded from the trees and lept up a the location where the vampire sat. An ancient rivalry boiled within him and he wouldn't let this one pass under his gaze. His strenght threw him over the lake and he was coming down ontop of the vampire... then he saw the angel....

He twisted his position before it was too late and he brushed past the angle, his tail barely brushing past her. Before he passed from range he caught ahold of the vampire's ankle and jerked him off the branch after him. They fell down to the root and moss covered earth before Asirma pinned the vampire underneath his figure.

-You're pinned don't try to escape, his weight is to crushing for you to concentrate on shapeshifting.-

Mel cursed a thousand times in her mind. '****! I'm losing this one!' She thought to herself. She gave Cal a reassuring smile, but it abruptly faded following a howl and a crash as two figures fell from the canopy. A young, male vampire was being wrestled to the ground by a large werewolf. Melanie herself had never had anything against werewolves, but they had always been set on destroying her, it seemed. She had quite lost her appetite. She was no longer bent on murdering and devouring Cale and Logan. Her eyes burned with hellfire as she glared at the werewolf as it attacked Alistair. It was then that she gave away what she truly was. She threw back her pretty head and hissed loudly, her fangs glinting menacingly in the moonlight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Biting his lip as his back made painful contact with the ground, Alistair had only nanoseconds to process what had just happened. He stared back into the eyes of the hulking figure on top of him. Making humour of the situation wouldn't be a wise move, but it was in Alistair's nature. 'Well hello there.' The words didn't come out sounding as witty as he had intended. Instead they sounded more like the words of a frightened adolescent boy. They were more likely to annoy the great beast than ease the situation. He stared desperately up into the trees, looking for Arianna. Not for help, but to see if she was okay. For once he was considering other people. He was aware of the dislike between vampires and werewolves, but Alistair himself was a lover, not a fighter. As long as he had lived, he hadn't shown hostility around werewolves.
