Actually, I did read, DatGuy. I know what you said, I'm just not good at keeping on topic. Nor did I ever say that being different is bad, either; the fact that you even assumed I was saying such just shows that you're as much of a moron as I. I bet you didn't think anything through at all before you posted this thread either. I'm just saying that if you don't like some of the people, then you should either try to like them, or you should ignore them. I'm starting to wonder if you read anything that I said, rather than being the stubborn person that you can really be when you try.

Sorry for not being a genius. I'm young. But if you want to call people who want to help morons just because you want to be stubborn, then go ahead. Leave. I won't try to stop you anymore.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I even said that some of the post would have nothing to do with the topic at hand because I suck at keeping on topic. If you read my entire post, you would know that.

I am saddened that you were not able to write with those that had sparked some interest in your creative fires. I hope you come back after we make our changes and give us another chance because we want quality writers like yourself who have a great deal to offer a growing community.

Although I am unsure of the statement that you had been unable to role-play. I have read your post a few times and while I understand all of those events happening regarding role-plays, I have experienced it myself, I have also managed to find myself involved in some really great stories that I helped create.

Perhaps we can do better bringing creative, literate role-players together. Perhaps you can help us do that.

What ever you decide I wish you the best in your endeavors.

I think that Gateway's size, while indicative of a strong site, is probably part of the problem. With all the noise going on, it seems like the only real choices for new players are to get lost in it or become part of it.

I'm afraid I'm part of the former category, unfortunately, and not really feeling like I'm contributing anything to the community or benefiting any from being part of it. I was kind of expecting that the first month, month and a half...but three months and nothing is frustrating. Maybe I'd do better to find a smaller site where it's easier to get to know the people in it, rather than a bustling site like this where you meet lots of people, but only very briefly.

goodbye,I wish you had been able to find the good roleplays many of us have. While I agree with you on the sheer size and noobage of the site. While there are still gems of good writing (Extremely large gems)they are worth the rooting through the crap at least to me.

SIlcatra, I would like to see you before you leave us, post one of your role-play ideas so that we can see what ideas you have. I would wager that if the rp has a great hook, wonderful opportunities for collaborative writing and the potential to create a great story you will indeed have people who want to participate.

And as the GM you'd have say as to whom you allow into your story and if it has chutzpah I think you'd get the literate role-players you are seeking.

Why not try it before you leave us, let's see what happens.

Heh heh, I guess it's about that time. Yes, yes, it is I, Dragon. You know me, you love me, you admire my unmatchable sexiness. But, as with all good things, our time together must come to an end. No, there's nothing wrong with this site! Quite the opposite! I love gateway ^__^ It's my home, where my family is. It's just, that thing that bugs us to no end called.... um... real life is getting in the way. So, I must deal with it. Don't worry, I may be back someday. Just pop in randomly, and fill your hearts with my unbelievable sexy as I always do.

If you don't feel like reading this entire thing, or have stuff to do, check the bold in paragraph 3 for a basic summary. If you don't have things to do, you might as well read the entire thing.

Alright, listen up. My schedule is whacked lately, and with all the rennovations you people are doing, which is really screwing up my account, by the way, it's kind of limiting my time on RPG. *sigh* I'm not exactly saying goodbye, I'm saying that...God, it's hard to word this, um, I'm saying that I'm going to be off for a while. I most likely WILL come back, but for now, I've decided to die. I'll check in, but during...July 19 through August 15th, I won't be here at all.

Try not to think of this as a seperation. Like, you live with a parent, while you see the other parent periodically, but not as much as the other parent, or however it goes. (It varies on how they want to do it) And it might not be permanent. I'm sorry for the dumb analogy, but it's the closest thing I could think of, even though this is not nearly as dramatic as divorce/seperation is.

God, I'm rambling. Apoligies to the readers for reading all that. So you don't have to read the entire thing, here's a recap: I'm somewhat leaving, but I will be online periodically. I might come back, but I don't know yet. The only thing I can promise is that I'll try my best to keep up my private roleplays, even though they aren't really being replied to anyway, but when you do get around to it, I'll reply, so chill. For the ones I have regular roleplays with, apoligies on my behalf. I suck, and you can go on and reply about this on how much I suck. Honestly, I think I deserve it.

Well, I guess this is semi-goodbye. If you have anything to say, reply to this thing before Thursday, July 11th.

Hello all my friends and goodbye for now. I'm shipping out to basic training on Wednesday and I'll be gone until next year. T.T Thanks for all the fun guys and I hope to return when I can. I had a great time rping here. I guess life goes on and we experience different things. I'd like to think I'll see everybody again when I get back. And for those stories I'm involved in that I can't be here to finish I say I'm sorry. I'll see you guys around, so so-long but not goodbye. ^.^

I am leaving. I apologize. ( )

Postby Aion on Mon Jun 08, 2009 11:59 pm

I don't want a sympathy vote. Just to let everyone know before I type this.

I first came to RPGateway not so long ago trying to find decent RPers and
decent RPs. And I found them, everyone is so nice here. Apart from the odd
couple. Who are indeed, forgiven. [You know who you are  haha]
But I wanted to be around people who had the same sort of likings than that
of myself. People who loved to RP, write stories, draw. That is why I came here.

I have decided I am leaving for a variety of reasons. I know I have upset some
people lately, I am truly sorry for that. I have made loads of friends here, so
thank you all for your support and your great RP sessions. I will miss this place,
though I have only been here for a short time, I considered this my home away
from home.

I will miss everyone at RPGateway, but I will take my leave. I know when it is
time to go. I hope everyone has a great future here at RPGateway and a great
future in real life.

I am sorry.

Now, it says I have to leave contact info... Well, you can contact me on
somethingaboutrp.co.nr though I doubt any of you will. I hope you will, but...

Bye guys.

Treali Storm, leaving ( )

Postby Ylanne on Fri Jun 12, 2009 7:15 am

Hi everyone, it is true, I am leaving this site. I have been contemplating this for quite a while, and after every roleplay I have joined has died after anywhere between one hour and three months, (an average of a few days), and quite frankly, most people on this site either are not as literate as I would prefer OR they simply prefer the type/genre of roleplay I am not interested in. It was fun while it lasted.

All the people in Disappearing Children, particularly xImxLostxWithoutxYou and Roselite (you know who you are!) I will miss you the most.

Misteria Spellman, I will continue our private roleplay. So don't worry!

If anyone posts in the Dumbledore's Army and the Muggle Who Saw Magic roleplay, I will be happy to continue that.

Other than those two, please consider all roleplays over.

I'm very sorry about this, particularly to Mannerheim (A Hostage Situation) and True Grave (Death and the Motilone Bari), but I'm afraid I have neither the inspiration nor the amount of time I would like to be able to continue either of those roleplays (or any others that I am signed up in or posted in, which no one has posted any further in anyways).

Oh yeah, and you can find my writer's website, with a bunch of drawings I've done (I'm going to scan in more later today, actually), an excerpt from my novel, and brief descriptions of some of my characters and my current writing projects here: http://www.sorrows.tk if you are interested. Please actually do check out my web site!

You could also see my blog with poetry and short fiction at http://www.lendingcouragetostrangers.tk or my politics/philosophy/religion blog at http://www.fugitiveseekingtruth.tk if you cared. :)

Don't cry! I will be around occasionally, until my roleplay with Misteria Spellman is over or Dumbledore's Army officially dies, whichever happens last.

. . . . So in closing, my suggestions to Remaeus (who by the way is awesome) on making this site better:

1.) Well it is HUGE! Which can be a great thing, but for some people (i.e. me) it ruins the chance to get to know everyone. I might suggest having maybe four sub-websites. Like say Fantasy and Science Fiction, Realistic, Anime and Fiction Based, and School-Based and Group Home Roleplays. Where if you register for an account on one site, you can use that account to log in on one of the others, but you probably won't since most people tend to like one of these genres best. That way the people in your community all roleplay the same type of roleplay you're interested in; it's smaller, and therefore you have a better chance of getting to know everyone, and knowing people who will be more interested in roleplaying with you.

2.) Maybe having a staff run literacy campaign? I'm not talking about forcing everyone to write a few paragraphs or more, but more like getting everyone to use at least proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation while IC unless it's part of a text message or IM. For instance, instead of "carly then goes to the party with u", you would write "Carly then goes to the party with you." You know what I mean? It would give the site a much cleaner, more professional look, and I know I'm not the only one who cringes at the former type of sentence.

3.) Yeah it is huge. So even if you post a new thread (like this one) the average time it will remain in the Recent Posts column is only several minutes. And how many people will notice that? Whereas if you did do some kind of sub-website thing like I suggested, posts would stay for longer (less people, less posts) and more and interested people would see them (like-minded roleplayers in their respective areas).

4.) You totally changed the top navigation! I liked it the old way.

5.) View your posts: Yeah, it's been rather erratic lately. Now it's working after a second click. The first click always says "You cannot use search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes". And if you wait a few seconds and click refresh, voila, there are your posts. But over the past month or so, even this past academic year, it has taken as many as 8-16 clicks, or simply not loaded at all.

6.) And how many times does the server for this website crash? At least daily. Sometimes if I refresh a page after a crashed message it loads again. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I get a message from my browser saying the site just isn't available. I think you could save this problem if you had like four sub-websites. Either that or someone raise the money for a whole new server.

Yeah, that's about it. Well, I'm off now, but remember, you can contact me as specified above. I await you all. :)

Masaalema! (That's Arabic for goodbye, but it literally means "Go with safety")

:EDIT: I clearly did not leave this site. I thought I was going to, because it was taking up too much of my time, but love of roleplays, and some amazing people convinced me to return, after only about one month passed. And I'm still here. And will likely be here until I'm senile.

Jan. 2012: I'm researching roleplaying and need any roleplayers to take an anonymous survey. It takes an average of 25 minutes. This is part 1 of 2. The second survey will be released soon.

Aw man, things are going to change without you here, considering you made the best roleplays of your kind, and I liked the way you did them as well as your skill that you did them with. It's indeed sad to see you go, but atleast you say goodbye ^_^

I do agree with the literacy of most of the people here, it is not as big as I would like it to be, but I choose to help them improve on that, so don't worry, hopefully things will get better for the site in terms of literacy, if I can have this plan excecute the way I want it. Anyways......

....Bloody Heck...

Well, it certainly has been enjoyable to RP with you, Treali, I must say, you are a Literate Role Player, and I really respect your ability to write such detailed posts, even to far smaller posts.
Well, all I can wish for you is "Live a happy life, and enjoy your life while you can."
I hope the future will be good for you...and...Well...Bye

P.S I'm not really the best person to say good buy, for I am not really good to let me friends, and known people, leave me.
