Hi everyone, it is true, I am leaving this site. I have been contemplating this for quite a while, and after every roleplay I have joined has died after anywhere between one hour and three months, (an average of a few days), and quite frankly, most people on this site either are not as literate as I would prefer OR they simply prefer the type/genre of roleplay I am not interested in. It was fun while it lasted.
All the people in
Disappearing Children, particularly
xImxLostxWithoutxYou and
Roselite (you know who you are!) I will miss you the most.
Misteria Spellman, I will continue our private roleplay. So don't worry!
If anyone posts in the
Dumbledore's Army and the Muggle Who Saw Magic roleplay, I will be happy to continue that.
Other than those two, please consider all roleplays over.
I'm very sorry about this, particularly to
Mannerheim (A Hostage Situation) and
True Grave (Death and the Motilone Bari), but I'm afraid I have neither the inspiration nor the amount of time I would like to be able to continue either of those roleplays (or any others that I am signed up in or posted in, which no one has posted any further in anyways).
Oh yeah, and you can find
my writer's website, with a bunch of drawings I've done (I'm going to scan in more later today, actually), an excerpt from my novel, and brief descriptions of some of my characters and my current writing projects here:
http://www.sorrows.tk if you are interested. Please actually do check out my web site!
You could also see
my blog with poetry and short fiction at
http://www.lendingcouragetostrangers.tk or my politics/philosophy/religion blog at
http://www.fugitiveseekingtruth.tk if you cared. :)
Don't cry! I will be around occasionally, until my roleplay with Misteria Spellman is over or Dumbledore's Army officially dies, whichever happens last.
. . . . So in closing, my suggestions to Remaeus (who by the way is awesome) on making this site better:
1.) Well it is HUGE! Which can be a great thing, but for some people (i.e. me) it ruins the chance to get to know everyone. I might suggest having maybe four sub-websites. Like say Fantasy and Science Fiction, Realistic, Anime and Fiction Based, and School-Based and Group Home Roleplays. Where if you register for an account on one site, you can use that account to log in on one of the others, but you probably won't since most people tend to like one of these genres best. That way the people in your community all roleplay the same type of roleplay you're interested in; it's smaller, and therefore you have a better chance of getting to know everyone, and knowing people who will be more interested in roleplaying with you.
2.) Maybe having a staff run literacy campaign? I'm not talking about forcing everyone to write a few paragraphs or more, but more like getting everyone to use at least proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation while IC unless it's part of a text message or IM. For instance, instead of "carly then goes to the party with u", you would write "Carly then goes to the party with you." You know what I mean? It would give the site a much cleaner, more professional look, and I know I'm not the only one who cringes at the former type of sentence.
3.) Yeah it is huge. So even if you post a new thread (like this one) the average time it will remain in the Recent Posts column is only several minutes. And how many people will notice that? Whereas if you did do some kind of sub-website thing like I suggested, posts would stay for longer (less people, less posts) and more and interested people would see them (like-minded roleplayers in their respective areas).
4.) You totally changed the top navigation! I liked it the old way.
5.) View your posts: Yeah, it's been rather erratic lately. Now it's working after a second click. The first click always says "You cannot use search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes". And if you wait a few seconds and click refresh, voila, there are your posts. But over the past month or so, even this past academic year, it has taken as many as 8-16 clicks, or simply not loaded at all.
6.) And how many times does the server for this website crash? At least daily. Sometimes if I refresh a page after a crashed message it loads again. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I get a message from my browser saying the site just isn't available. I think you could save this problem if you had like four sub-websites. Either that or someone raise the money for a whole new server.
Yeah, that's about it. Well, I'm off now, but remember, you can contact me as specified above. I await you all. :)
Masaalema! (That's Arabic for goodbye, but it literally means "Go with safety")
:EDIT: I clearly did not leave this site. I thought I was going to, because it was taking up too much of my time, but love of roleplays, and some amazing people convinced me to return, after only about one month passed. And I'm still here. And will likely be here until I'm senile.
