Just as she was about to sit back down- just as she was about to actually look at her student roster -Dori's eyes snapped to Arius at the sound of his voice. There were times where arguing with him could be fun or entertaining; there were times where she genuinely respected er friend's opinion; there were also times that she just didn't have the energy to deal with his antics. Of any of those choices, the latter most one seemed to apply quite well, this time.
"This is the first day of classes of the year," She reminded him, staring straight back. "If we let you try doing magic and you don't know what you're doing, then you're more than likely going to screw up. You'll hurt someone, or yourself, and blame everyone else (most likely) because you think it's their fault for not having taught it, yet.
"For today, I didn't want anyone to use magic yet because they could hurt someone. You think you should be allowed to use your powers as you please? Then the academy is not for you. You are here to learn, and learn you will- if you listen."
Her eyes still trained on Arius, Dori stepped forward, past some of the desks so she stood before his. Her voice lowered a bit , making her sound far more serious than her appearances could ever make anyone think she could be. "The incident today was something that should never have happened, regardless of what that... man thinks. The reasons for any other students' actions are actually quite beside the point. You ran a little too readily, to arrogant with your ability to have thought your course of action through. Yes, you stood against those... things, but you hurt your head in the process. Your lucky I was there to remind you of how to get your strength back. Any one else might not have known enough about you to tell you such a thing. You think you can handle more than the tasks we give you? Than pay attention. Actually try giving a damn about your classes. Earn my respect, and the other teacher's respect, and our confidence, so you can be in a class where you're allowed to use whatever magic you want. I didn't graduate early by questioning things like that. Until you've proven you can handle being allowed to use your magic at any time, I suggest you listen to me for once. Do the work, reap the rewards."
With that she turned back around, heading for her desk as what looked like wisps of fire flowed after her, though they were far from real. She sat back down, glanced at her clock, and looked out to the class as a whole.
"Seven minutes."
