Welcome to the Orion Institute, one of many academies around the world for the training of young magical beings, be you warlock, druid, witch, or priest.

Your abilites are great, but greater are your responsibilities.

For Eons our kind have protected the world from incursions from the Aether Realms.

We protect them, but we are not of them.

Now it is time to prepare.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this roleplay you will take the form of students in an academy that prepares you to fight the creatures who come from outside our world.

Rules

You are Human, but if you wish to spice up your backstory with creature ancestors, feel free. This is not to have an effect with the game. So no random claws or horns or giant teeth, you look human, and are human, for the most part.

You can be from any magic using discipline you wish. Some may be Shinto priests, some may be druids.

Your power comes from one source, Darkness, nature, cold etc, go wild in making them up. Have fun with it.

There are three types of students

Trackers, those who can feel magical incursions and track them down to the source.

Hiders, these people use their magic to hide the incursions and block the escape of magical entities.

Fighters, these people use their magic to combat the magical menaces.

All students will choose one of these categories as a specialty and be given minor training in the other two.

If this becomes popular I will later work out a secondary setup, but for now, it only takes place in school

So here's yer skeleton

Name
Magical Tradition
Nature of magic
Role
Appearance
Biography
Age (no age limit)

Rules of Magic
1. The nature of your magic is how it presents itself, this does not mean you can draw power from other forms of it.
2. You are immune to the effects of your own magic.
3. All magical effects end when you are rendered unconscious or fall asleep.

I am open to suggestions, so if you have an idea to improve this, let me know.

His name was Andronicus, and he stared out over the grounds of the school watching as students ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, I'll need to whip 'em into shape if they're going to survive the real world. With that thought he started chanting.

Name-Mordan
Magical Tradition-None
Nature of magic-Death
Role-Fighter
Appearance-Male, 5 ft. 10 inc. Hazel eyes, dark short hair, cold face, pale skin, long finges, rather skinny build as opposed to muscular, wears grey and black robes.
Biography-Mordan was found at a very young age to exhibit signs of being adept at magic. At first his parents were excited for him but as he grew older things began to happen that made them instead fearful. He could kill bugs, not by squashing them, but by simply thinking about it. If he touched any one person for a long enough time they would begin to feel sick and tired. His parents grew more worried and more worried until one day something happened that threw them over the edge. Mordan had used a bow to kill a small deer, but instead of bringing it home to feed his family, he crouched over it for hours, hands on the corpse. After night had fallen, his parents left him be, they were too scared to disturb him. The next day they awoke to find their dog who had once been dead, alive. Mordan had used the deer's life force and transferred it to his old pet. They then apparently renounced him and kicked him out, calling him an 'abomination'. This is all Mordan cares to share of his past life, and no one knows what has become of his family.

It was a beautiful, cloudless day at the Institute. The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing and everywhere the sound of birds and squirrels and other various wildlife could be heard as they went about their daily routines. A soft sigh escaped Arius' lips as he shifted himself on the stone bench. He'd come here once the sun had come up and hadn't left since. In fact, he'd barely even moved from where he'd first laid down across the bench. His fingers laced together and he placed them beneath his head and closed his eyes, just letting the sun warm his entire body. A dark green button-up shirt was tossed carelessly to the ground beside the bench leaving him in jeans and a sleeveless shirt. As usual, however, his shoes were conspicuously absent.

He tilted his head to the side, allowing his hair to fall across his face and provide a bit of shade to his eyes as he opened them. A good number of his classmates were milling about the courtyard looking lost while others were rushing about and trying to find their classes. None of them seemed to care about enjoying the day. It was all work, work, work for them. They needed to take a moment to breathe. Almost as if on cue to the thought Arius took a deep breath and exhaled it, using the push of the exhale to raise himself into a sitting position, elbows perched on either knee. "What time did I have class again?" he murmured to himself where no one else could hear.
Me: "Alright stop, collaborate and listen. Ice is back with my brand new invention."
Austin: "Damn you and your fresh rhymes."

Mordan had heard of the Orion institute, and he was intent on traveling there. He had with him very little, the clothes on his back, a small morsel of food, and a map he had pawned off a traveler. He was determined to find Orion Institute. He wanted to be with other people like him, and no longer be treated like some kind of demon. For too long he had tried to hide his powers, but after he brought back his old dog to life, he now wanted to train and learn to control his magic. He arrived late at night...

Alan stood in the middle of the mess that was his fellow students "Get out of my way" he yelled above the noise and waited as people turned to look at him before turning back without moving, Alan's temper flared "Move!!" he yelled again and this time when people turned their gaze onto him he turned his ice blue eyes on them and they soon got out of his way, It took a while but Alan finally got out of the crowd and he walked over to one of the Students who was sitting on a bench with his head back, Alan sat down next to him "Hey Arius what are you doing?" he asked with a laugh.

(headmaster is a plot device he will be used to start special events not brought on by the teachers or students themselves, like if a breach where to form allowing an attack on the academy., my character is Andronicus Valois, a teacher, who is not being introduced yet.)

the smell of death and decay filled the air as the ground beneath the school started to tremble, you hear screams coming from across the courtyard, students are fleeing from the cafeteria

The campus was one that Dori had always been familiar with. When she was little and first started her training, her older brother had moved into an apartment near the academy so he could keep an eye on her. When she got old enough that he was ok with her living in the dorms, he moved away. She had been there for so long that the school felt like home, wrapping her in the comfort of belonging. Thanks to her early start at the school, Dori had graduated fairly young as well.

Now, with her saddle bag full of books, paper, pens, pencils, charms, and trinkets, Dori sighed with content. The metal pentagram hanging from her neck seemed to glint in the sun almost as much as her pink hair. That, paired with her short stature, made it impossible for the unknowing passerby to have any clue about her actual position at the school.

Which somehow seemed to be the school's resident daydreaming teacher.

Around her head, birds of the brightest colors seemed to flutter. Her hand, waving in a figure-eight by her side, kept the image going. It was annoying at first, this small limitation on her ability, but it soon felt natural that she had to keep her hand moving to keep here illusions visible. When her hand finally did stop, the birds seemed to disintegrate, as if they turned into smoke and dust and were blown away by the wind (which wasn't too far off the mark).

Dori smiled as she saw the brown haired boy sitting up on the stone bench, her legs carrying her towards him the smallest bit faster. She heard the question he posed to himself just before she sat down beside him.

"You still have an hour. And I'm not going to write you anymore excuses." She said, mockingly propping her feet up in his lap. "At least, not unless you actually do the homework in my class."

Suddenly, his peaceful ruminations were interrupted by a girl's voice and it was a girl's voice that sounded all too familiar. With a smirk he turned his head towards her and chuckled, "Me? Do homework?" He tapped his chin as if he was taking the time to think it over, "You know, I'll consider doing so but we'll just have to see, won't we?" He gave her a wide grin, "You should know better than to ask me to do homework by now, teach."

Before he could say anything else his sense were assaulted by the most putrid of aromas. The scent was so cloying that he gagged, bringing tears to his eyes. He knew this scent. He knew it all too well. It was the scent of death and whatever followed it, especially in a school of magical students, could not be good. He closed his eyes and sighed, "So much for a good start to a lovely day, he muttered darkly. He rose from his sitting position, picking up his other leg and swinging it over the bench. Students were running around in circles and causing more chaos than whatever had manifested itself in the cafeteria.

His gaze flicked from student to student. Everyone was clearing out of the area and, to be honest, he felt like doing the same but this thing, whatever it was, could not be left unattended. He stared at the entrance to the cafeteria and knelt down, placing his fist, knuckles down, onto the ground and concentrated solely on the ground in front of the door. His eyes closed and his other hand shot straight out and rose into the air above his head. Simultaneously a wall of thick rock rose in front of the doors, momentarily slowing whatever was in the cafeteria from getting into the courtyard where the students were. He turned his gaze back to the girl, "Do you know anything about this? What it is? Why it's here? Is this the real thing we're dealing with?"

Kiki was sitting alone up in the branches of a tree. It is here where she sat pondering her new school to which the tree she was sitting on was located. She scanned her eyes over the campus and her ice blue eyes landed on the student. Most of which she realized she wouldn't be speaking to any of them. She was a person who kept to herself; in fact, it'd be dangerous for her to be with anyone.

She sighed, but her mind was fluttering with thoughts of spirits nearby who were trying to contact her. She waved her hand dismissively to them. She just wanted to be alone. Yet, her quiet and concentration was quickly broken. Screams echoed throughout the campus and loud rumbles moved within the campus also. She quickly jumped from the tree and tried to be steady as she walked towards the cafeteria. Why am I going to the danger? This is stupid, She thought to herself.

She tugged on the short sleeves of her black tee with nerves and then worked her fingers through her hair. Once down she continued with her slow steps towards the cafeteria and she turned to see if anyone was following also. Seeing as no one was her tan fingers played around her pink lips. A frown tugged at her lips also and she wondered what she was getting herself into.

"Here goes nothing," she muttered to herself and stepped closer to the cafeteria which still rumbled. Yet, this step wasn't steady and she fell to the floor with an "ooof." Slowly she stood and decided she'd lean against this pillar until others followed. If any were.
Our forever is together.

Alan smiled as Dori sat on the bench "what about me you still haven't written me up one " he whined as he fiddled with his hair trying to keep it out of his eyes, Alan sighed "An hour you say?, I should go some weights then" he said with a sigh as he grabbed a bottle out of his bag and took a drink "So Arius wanna come for a workout?" he said before turning to Dori with a cheeky smile "Your welcome to come if you want miss".

Dori's head shot up, her legs falling from the boys lap the moment the smell hit her nose.

"What the...?" Dori didn't have time to question what was going on before Alrius was off, making her fear for what his plan might be. As soon as she saw his arm lift into the air, she knew it wasn't all that well thought out.

"Alrius, no!" She cried, waving her arm above her hand in a circular motion. When her fist shot out toward him, a rope was clutched in it, the other end of the rope wrapping around his wrist to pull his arm down. "There might be innocents in there, you idiot!" She gasped, releasing the roe into the wind as she pulled him around to face her.

"This is why you do homework. You don't block it off until you know everyone's out!" She hissed. "Now release the wall, but be prepared. We need to find out what the hell's going on!"

Alan ran up behind the two of them "Sorry i looked around and you two were gone" he said with a huff it was only then that Alan noticed the smell "Wow that must be bad for you guys" he said as he raised a hand and summoned a whip of fire.

Alan looked at the window as it shattered and the gorilla sized things jumped out he flicked his whip missing it by an inch, Alan swore and looked at the others "Ill fight them if one of you can track for me" he yelled above the noise of students screaming, Alan jumped into the air as he ran after the two things and lashed out two more times on missed but one hit the things arm searing a hole in it, He looked back at the others once he had dropped to the ground "don't make me do this alone" he yelled and then swore as he noticed what had come about his friends

The gorilla holding Alrius by his head dropped the druid and turned to the warlock holding the whip of fire, he stepped menacingly towards him and his stomach opened revealing a mouth.

He felt the rope coil around his wrist and himself propelled backwards to face Dori. He flexed his wrist around in a circle. He was about to say something about how he'd been sure that no one else was inside when he heard the sound of breaking glass. Two huge primate-esque figures were falling out of the widnow and getting to their feet. "It looks like it doesn't matter anymore, Dori," he said as he continued to stare at the entities. "What are those things?" he asked aloud to both Dori and the newcomer. As he watched the two monsters seemed to be doing nothing, as if they were waiting for them to strike first. That was when he saw the girl leaning against a pillar but blocked from sight of the monsters. He wanted to say something, to warn her somehow to not move and to stay where she was but to do so would also draw their attention to himself, Alan and Dori.

Before he could make up his mind on what to do about the girl he was lifted bodily into the air. "Damnit!" he cursed aloud as his feet left the ground. Without it it would be very difficult for him to use his power at all. He had to be creative. He put every ounce of focus he had into channeling his own energy through the monster and towards the ground it stood on. The ground beneath it began to rumble and shake as thick roots broke from the surface and began to twine themselves around the monster's body, tightening and pulling it to the ground. The moment it was low enough that Arius' feet touched the surface he brought a thick pillar of rock up from the ground and, guiding it with his hands, slammed it into the monster's forearm and causing it to release him. As soon as the hold was released Arius' knees buckled from the exertion and he fell to his hands and knees on the ground, breathing heavily, his arms trembling. "Too...much," he grunted.
