Alma watched them. A human male, along with what seemed to be his female, had entered her territory. A low hiss, barely audible to their ears, flowed its way through her jaws. It was an outrage.........how dare they come into territory.......HER TERRITORY. Her red eyes, emotionless, followed their movements carefully. They were unaware of their mistake, their faces, bright and glowing in joy, would soon be shadowed and scarred by fear. A smile twisted itself crudely across her muzzle. She would taste blood tonight.

Her massive body, camouflaged in the grass as she huddled down to the earth, noted every movement they made, and she waited. The female turned towards her, startled, and pointed. The male turned, and peered out at her. What they saw were a pair of massive red eyes, glowering out at them. Alma slowly rose out of the grass, her jaws open, and growled darkly at them. The humans huddled together, unable to move in fright. She moved towards them, her bat like gait, causing them to freeze up even more. Alma knew they weren't going to run, giving her a chance to take her time. She neared them, and raised her head, her eyes glaring cruelly down at them.

They had made the mistake.................and they would pay the price.

Annabelle was sitting at a desk in her apartment. Numerous items were scattered across it paper, text books, wrappers, and a tabloid magazine. It was It had picture of a ‘dragon’ on the cover but it’s low quality rivaled that of Nessy or Bigfoot photos. Why the young women picked it up was a mystery to her. A quick gaze around the desk made it apparent as she eyed a very particular text book.

The magazine was just there to distract her from her studies. A test over key parts of Norse Mythology, It was a apparent that Annabelle hated Norse mythology as she banged her fist on the table and muttered to herself. “Why cant we just skip this?" Everything from the rather grim Raonorak to the cross dressing antics of Thor disgusted her. Simply reading though few pages was already giving the student a head ache. For the second time today she needed to get out side for some fresh air.

Annabelle foraged though sea of magazines, plastic bottles, undergarments and food that had molded beyond all recognition. Eventually she found a dilapidated pair of boots. Shortly before exiting the building she put on the boots in addition to a gray overcoat. This combination added to a gray beret already on her head would probably give most people the impression that she was a chimney sweep. This did not really mater to her at all though but sounds that were heard while she came out the apartment did. Loud crash and bumps could be heard it. She tried to ignore any ominous thoughts about it . “Some somebody must be having a party or maybe it’s just a parade.” she thought to herself.

Elsa fidgeted in her seat, glancing out the window in front of her. Big mistake. She put down her pencil and pushed herself up from her desk, abandoning her sketch in progress. As she turned, she saw her professor raising an eyebrow at her. "I hope you aren't finished with that," he said, indicating the unfinished assignment. With a heavy sigh, Elsa plopped back into her chair and continued the sketch. It was a makeshift fairy, sitting on a flower pedal with her thin legs dangling. Her lithe body had a certain glow to it, and her expression was pensive. Normally, she'd have drawn it a lot better, but today she was distracted.

Her professor had seated her in the window seat the moment he realized how she loathed the... creatures that were roaming about. He wanted to teach her a lesson about acceptance, but only succeeded in angering the girl more. As she glanced up a second time, she could see one now, a little ahead of the park. It looked like a dragon but it could've been anything. She rolled her eyes, obviously disgusted, and returned to shading in the drawing. When she was satisfied with it, she hastily stood up and slapped it onto the professor's desk, already half way out the door before he could say otherwise. She bounded down the stairs and out the front door of her school and breathed in deeply, breathing in the stench of the polluted city air. Being born and raised here, she'd grown accustomed to it.

Alma quickly finished off the female, giving the human barely any time to scream. The grass around her, as well as her snout, were covered in blood. Her long red tongue slid out of her mouth and quickly cleaned up the human's red viscrea on her muzzle. Her hunger was sated, her territory was safe, and she blinked demurely. Alma slowly gazed around, noting the small humans that played at the edge of her territory. Their high pitched and almost innocent vocalizations reminded her of a fledgling of her kind. She wandered slowly away from her killing ground to the edge of her territory, away from the human's fledgelings. Alma cast her senses out like a net, her curiosity of this new world welling up. She had only been here for a short time, but she had learned already that not many would get in her way.

Her crimson eyes focused on a large building. Many things were happening there, her nose and eyes could tell that. She wandered over to it, not caring that she was fully exposed, in her bat-like gait. Humans screamed and ran from her, causing her to pause and watch them, before continuing on. She went on without fear, knowing fully well only the foolish would mess with her.

"My, my. Are you certain Getulus?"

"Yesss mistresss."

Rayna didn't look at the basilisk, avoiding his eyes. The monster had only just slid within the borders of her home but he already proved useful. The small, yet dangerous snake, with a gaze capable of killing a man, drooling venom from it's mouth which sled down his large teeth, had mentioned to have wandered around the land, feeding himself on chickens, cats and rabbits found in human towns. Once a farmer had found the creature responsible for killing his birds, he had released a weasel for which the basilisk had fled.

"Tell me, Getulus, why do you think the farmer shall follow you here?"

" He isss a very vengeful man. If the weasssel does not return, I don't sssee why he wouldn't mistresss. A basssilisssk isss not hard to track either ssseee, our venom leavesss a trail. He ssshall come."

"Yes, the weasel. I have learned it was eaten a mere moment ago. Some of my servants enjoy a weasel as a meal and I hunger myself also."

When she let Getulus leave, Rayna wondered if she needed to ask the basilisk more Rayna spread her wings and took off, back to her nest. More central on the mountain, she would over think what she heard and wait for the farmer. Rayna hadn't had a decent meal in days, she hoped the farmer was not worth his life. But what bothered her more, little men still came to the mountain nowadays. In the past, several came daily. According to some of her servants, the mountain was considered cursed. Humans spread so many lies about Ala-kind, it was unbelievable...

Rayna landed in her nest and folded in her wings. She gazed upon her home, the view was beautiful. How could a man believe such a beautiful place was cursed? Magic had been erased from the Earth's bottom long before Rayna was born. Even monster-kind could not cast a curse upon such a large area. Such nonsense, the Ala decided as she hid her head under her wing and tried to fall asleep.

OOC: For those of you who are wondering, the basilisk based upon Leonardo da Vinci's description his bestiary. His name Getulus is a part of "Lampropeltis getulus californiae" the California Kingsnake.

Jeza flew nimbly in and out of the clouds, high above the city. The air felt thick and toxic in her lungs, not at all what she was accustomed to at all. The atmosphere didn't hurt her per say, but it wasn't comfortable at all. As she flew through the puffy white clouds her wings spread out the clouds making the day more overcast than the weather called for. Sighing inwardly she flew below the clouds a tad so she could see some new scenery below. Not paticularly interested in anyone or anything she would observe one thing for a minute or two before moving onto the next thing that caught her eye.

Eventually as the sun moved from the East and headed towards the west she perched herself up on a cloud staring down at everything below. Her legs dangled loosely below her swaying with high winds as they changed. Though the ground was many miles below, Jeza has quite sharp vision so she continued to watch the busy streets below as people began to get off work and head towards there houses. She watched the crime and the random acts of kindness, nothing seeming to stir any emotion in her. Boredom eventually set in again as she lowered herself to the ground and her wings folded neatly onto her back as she walked through the less populated parts of the city.
