Technate KZM-32 Powered Armor
The KZM-32 is the bread and butter of Technate Infantry, based on the Trantorian M77 Combat Armor, and improved with several unique design features. The KZM-32 is designed with the tree elements of protection, mobility, and survivability in mind; thanks to almost indestructible armor plating, powered synthetic musculature, and a highly redundant and rugged design. While it is not the newest powered armor, the KZM-32 is one of the most rugged and efficient designs in use today.
Protection
Oversuit
The armor is a synthetic duranium/carbon-nanoweave composite, several hundred times stronger, and several dozen times lighter than steel. Like most powered armor suits, the outer layer has been coated with stealth nanoweave, energy conducting nanoweave, and a thin layer of thermally conducting powered, all of which dampens emissions and dissipates energy and thermal attacks at a staggering rate. The stealth nanoweave serves to reduce energy emissions by scattering light and electromagnetic waves, causing a corona effect around the armor when viewed by imaging sensors. Each plate is lined an internal layer of 2 mm sonic/kinetic protection gel, further protecting the wearer from impacts and sonic weapons. Twin pop-out blades with ultrasonic vibration generators are built into each gauntlet.
Undersuit
The undersuit of the KZM-32 is a pressurized body-glove designed to protect the wearer from high- and low-pressure conditions, and even the vacuum of space for limited periods of time. For added protection, this body-glove is lined with a ultra-thin layer of carbon-nanoweave over critical areas, and has a 2 mm layer of thermal/impact/sonic protective gel, which floats between the thermally balanced inner lining and a layer of metalized radiation-resistant polymer. Between the armor and the body-glove is a network of synthetic musculature, which is seven times stronger than normal human muscle fiber.
Boots
The boots of the KZM-32 armor are rugged, high-traction, and capable of magnetizing to floors or hulls in zero gravity conditions.
Helmet
Despite its bland appearance, the key feature of the KZM-32 armor is its helmet. The faceplate is equipped with a heads-up display capable of tracking targets, displaying information on incoming fire, displaying the status of the armor via integrated sensors (green=working, yellow=damaged, orange=destroyed, black=no contact), prioritizing targets via reticules, and linking with certain weapons (guided missiles in particular). For protection, the helmet has 2 mm kinetic/impact/sonic protective gel insets, and armor plate matching the limb and chest armor; the face-plate is made of high-strength polymers, polarized, and coated with radiation-absorbing metalized polymer. A five-channel com-link, squad locator and status display, and two-way wide-band radio complete the communications suite. An air filter and rebreather project the wearer from poisonous and non-oxygenated conditions. The helmet is controlled by voice and mental commands.
Neural Jack
A neural jack rests in the neck portion of the armor, allowing a properly implanted soldier to control the armor’s functions via mental commands.
Other Features
Zero-Point Cell
This zero-point energy collector is woven into chest of the KZM-32, and powers the various targeting, imaging, and musculature systems of the suit, along with the atmospheric filtration and auto-regeneration systems. Due to the nature of Zero-Point Energy, the only way to disable the power supply of the suit is to damage the Zero-point cell itself.
Auto-Regeneration
Several dozen nanite clusters line the insides of the armor, ready to swarm into the wearer and repair any injures. These clusters are linked to the damage-control systems of the armor, and use local and external data to figure out the extent and method-of-repair for any injury.
De-Ionizer
A basic combat de-ionizer, used to defeat ionized particle beams and high-energy plasmas.
Tactical Backpack
A highly reconfigurable backpack that can hold a variety of munitions and equipment; or it can be used to house communications or field auto-regeneration equipment.
Biological Generation
This armor is self-contained in many aspects, life support included. By using nanomachines to break down and reconfigure waste excreted by the wearer, the biological generator systems can provide food and water for an infinitesimal amount of time. The reprocessed nutrients and water are delivered through a tube in the helmet.
