~The Rose~ ( )

Postby writergirl24 on Wed Sep 02, 2009 4:17 pm

Okay guys here is the character skeleton. Remember that the house of the rose can control their abilities and the tribe of the lillies cannot so they are secluded away in a forest village. If your character is under sixteen they have not discovered their powers yeti, but they don't have to discover them at sixteen they can be older. Some don't get their powers till much later, but sixteen is the youngest and once you have developed your ability you can change into anything you want. There is ususally one or two forms that are favored by each shifter though.

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Appearence:
Personality:
Heritage: (the house of the rose or tribe of the lilly)
Favored Forms:
HIstory: (optional)
Other:

*note: the house of the rose is kind of the bad side because they are oppressing the uncontrolable shifters, but that does not necessarily mean you are bad if you are in the house of the rose, just most are. : )

go ahead and make your intro posts. I will not be posting today because Im a little short on time, but I will definately have mine up tomorrow. Thanks for being patients. If you have any questions put them on it other thread okay? We'll call that our ooc. Sound good?

Name: Kali Shiraiinu

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Appearance:
Image

Personality: Kali would rather listen than speak, she is quiet and a little timid. She enjoys pleasing other people, and will
therefore try to exceed expectations while still maintaining a proper etiquette. She is a firm believer in following the rules, but if she finds one is unjust, will try to prove it thus.

Heritage: The House of the Rose

Favored Forms: Raven, Falcon

History: The only daughter in a wealthy family, Kali was sheltered to the point of confinement. Unable to leave the house, she quickly descended into a state of depression, refusing to speak to anyone. The ridiculous sentence didn't end until her mother gave birth to a baby boy, Kazuki. Some of the attachment to her daughter was diluted by the birth of her son, and her mother finally allowed her to leave the house. Grateful to her brother for drawing away attention, Kali dotes upon him regularly, discovering a great joy in caring for the boy. She has become more normal in the ten years (and counting) of freedom, but the solitude still has an impact upon her: she has little confidence in her ability to communicate with others.

Other:
Kali normally wears her rose in her hair.
She likes to cook and sing to her brother.
She enjoys exploring and traveling.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Yasurou Amichi

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: http://my.picresize.com/BAYUBCC0P7

Personality: Yasu is responsible, proper, and a little bit prissy. He is very concerned about social status, and prides himself and his family far above poorer ones. Money means a lot to him, and despite never having to work for it, he is very frugal. He is cold, calculating, and apathetic.

Heritage: The House of the Rose (Is it okay if I have two Rose people? I can change it if you want...)

Favored Forms: Dove

History: Amichi is a powerful family; Yasurou's father, Takashi, is the CEO of a large business organization. As the first son, Yasu is destined to take over the company when his father retires. On the day he turned five, the boy was forced to trade his youth for the hardened soul of a business man. Needless, to say, he didn't get to play like other children. From the education-based regime, he became a very serious and dedicated individual. At the (private) high school that he attends, Yasu is a very influential student. His money and appearance gives him popularity, whereas his personality keeps him from making friends.

Other:
Yasu doesn't wear a rose in fear of it affecting his reputation. Instead he carries around a petal in his pocket.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Kirsten “Kip” Meerson

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance:
Image

Personality: Athletic and agile, Kip is a playful person. She isn't very easily offended; most insults make her laugh. Freedom and fun are very important to her. She doesn't take things seriously, and would rather enjoy the present than wait for the future. Her motto is: “Don't overlook small joys while seeking large ones.”

Heritage: The Tribe of the Lily

Favored Forms: Cheetah; Peregrine Falcon

History: Both of Kip's parents are alive, but her mother lives in a rehabillitation center after a tragic accident. She is the oldest in the family, with two siblings: a brother and sister. With everything that is going on, no one is able to explain why she feels so strange.
One day, when she and her friends are hiking in the woods, she randomly turns into a hawk. At first, she thinks it's a dream, but then she sees her friends screaming in shock and fleeing the area. She gets an explanation after that incident, but her family is forced to send her away in order to avoid similar problems arising.
She currently lives as a servant in the Shiraiinu manor where no normal humans live.

Other:
Kip wears a sterling silver anklet with a lily-shaped charm. To her, it symbolizes a shackle.

"Get that Lily-girl over here with some food!" Amaya Shiraiinu, Kali's mother, shouted angrily. The girl she was speaking of curtsied and scurried off to the kitchen. "Do you really have to yell at her, Mother?" The woman cast a disgusted glance in the servant's direction and then shook her head with disdain. "They don't listen otherwise." Kali bit down on her lower lip nervously. It didn't seem right, but her mother said it was. She sighed almost inaudibly and pushed the thought away, turning back to her guests.

"I apologize for our servant girl, she's new and..." Her mother was explaining to the bored Amichi family. Yasurou gave a small nod, polite and formal, but he felt incredibly annoyed at the hostess. She was so... He wasn't sure how to put it, but she seemed really fake, as if she were trying too hard to impress them. In any case, where was the man of the house? They had not come to meet this stupid woman. He blinked slowly to maintain his calm and followed the woman into the dining hall where a couple other families were seated.

[ooc: Look I introduced all my characters in the same scene! XD It's a dinner party or something... Nick and his family could be there..]

Nick stood in the dining room staring absently out the window. He fiddled with the golden ring on his finger with a ruby carved into the shape of a rose. It represented what he could do. He was a shifter, but he was the kind that could control his powers. He was apart of the House of the Rose, a very important part. His family was apart of the council and he had been appointed as a seeker; a person who seeks out others who can shift and establish whether they should be a part of the House of the Rose or the Tribe of the Lilly which was the group that could not control their powers and had to be secluded from society. They either lived as servents of the Rose members or they lived alone in a village deep in a forest on the outskirts of the city where they could be watched. Nick hated his job and wanted to help those less fortunate, but his grandfather wouldn't allow it.

He sighed pushing these thoughts from his mind and turned away from the window just as he saw the hostess's daughter give a small sigh. She looked upset. A small pucker appeared on his forehead as he shoved his hands in his pockets and made his way over to her.

"Hello miss," he greeted kindly as he neared her looking down on her with gentle, solemn blue eyes, "may I inquire as to what your name is?" He kept his voice low and polite so the others would not hear him. He preferred keeping his conversations to himself and not making them public. He also did not approve of most of the people in the room; another good reason to keep his thoughts to himself. The one exception was the girl sittig before him. He had never seen her before. She seemed different than the others and he was curious about her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tori turned the key in the lock and pushed open the door to reveal her dark living room. She heard a soft meow in the darkness and felt something press up against her legs.
"Hey Toaster," she mumbled as she bent down and scooped a small calico cat into her arms then flipped on the light switch. She dropped her bag and shut the front door with a bang. It had been such a long day and she was so tired. It didn't help that she hadn't slept in days or that she had a mountain of homework. "Must have coffee," she mumbled as she stumbled groggily towards the kitchen. She may not be able to sleep, but she definately felt tired and unalert. She didn't know what was wrong with her. This had been going on for over a week and she didn't think her body could take it for much longer. She needed sleep.
"What's wrong with me?" she asked softly as she reached the kitchen and flipped on the light. She sighed and set the cat on the table then walked to the counter and began making coffee. It was the only way she could stay at least half way focued and had to stay focused.
Kali reddened slightly; she wasn't used to speaking with people, and the boy who stood in front of him was probably an influential person... and he was cute, shallow as she felt to be thinking that, it was true. The reaction depressed her slightly, not only because her parents would disapprove of her timidity, but because she was ashamed of herself for being so socially inept. "Um, Kali Shiraiinu. It's nice to meet you..." She trailed off, waiting for him to fill in his own name.
Judging by the volume of his words, Kali assumed that he was a person who valued his privacy. Her voice was also kept low, although that was more out of habit than respect for his wishes.
Behind her back, her hands fidgeted restlessly. She was abruptly glad that she had chosen to keep them out of sight. Surely her annoying habits would bring shame to her family. This person seemed kind, but there was always the chance that someone less forgiving would catch sight of her minuscule movements.
At that moment, Kip walked through the kitchen door with a couple large platters of food. She walked towards the table very slowly, obviously having trouble with the burden. "Ack!" She exclaimed, too loudly for her status, and quickly maneuvered around an ice sculpture (freaking rich people). Many eyes turned to witness her impudence and she quickly lowered hers, thanking whatever god that existed for helping her to hold the tray up.
Seeing the servant struggling with the trays, Yasurou quickly rushed over to her. He picked a platter off her arm and placed it on the table before going back to his discussion with one of his father's business partners.
"I'm Nicholas Herring," Nick introduced himself with a kind smile for the girl. She seemed very nervous and he wanted to make her feel at ease around him. He didn't want to be intimidating. She seemed like such a sweet girl. He wanted to get to know her more. He was distracted for a moment by the poor servent girl almost dropping her trays. He felt very relieved she hadn't. He didn't really want to watch the girl get beaten because that is no doubt what would have happened if she had dropped anything.
He turned his attention back to Kirsten with that same smile on his face and pulled out the chair next to her then sat down.
"So tell me about yourself. How old are you? Do you go to school?" His eyes glowed with curiosity as he leaned casually back in his chair with his arms folded over his chest. "You dont' have to tell me of course if you don't want to. Im just curious."
((Im not going to do too much with Tori until they get to school, so for now Im just going to use Nick.))
[ooc: FYI- Kirsten is the name of the servant girl, but she goes by Kip. My main charrie's name is Kali... Also, sorry about setting it in a place where Tori couldn't logically be; I forgot about that ^^" ]
Kali furrowed her eyebrows, wondering why Nick was taking such an interest in her. He claimed it was curiosity, but surely that wasn't enough of a reason. Most people would just greet her and walk away; she was used to such behavior, and it didn't bother her that no one spoke anything more than insignificant formalities. In fact, the lack of communication was somewhat comforting, and if she felt lonely, she could just go play with her little brother.
"Curiosity... is good, to a limit, not that you're going overboard or anything..." She began, choosing her words carefully so as to not offend the boy. "I turned seventeen a couple of days ago, my father enrolled me in school as a gift. Before, I was taught by my tutor." Eager to lead the conversation away from herself, she assumed the same curious expression that she saw on his face and asked the same of him.
((OOC: Im SO sorry! I got confused...okay i won't make that mistake again. And I like how you started it. I don't mind that Tori isn't in it yet. : ) ))
Nick chuckled at the girl's response, but stopped when she asked the same questions of him. It was only expected for her to be curious, so he ansered.
"I'm eighteen and I believe you will be attending the same school as me, but Im quite sure you and I are going for different reasons. Are you excited about school?" His eyes locked with hers and he gave her another of his kind smiles. He was sure he already knew the answer to this question. She seemed so shy, she was probably dreading school. There were so many people there and it was so crowded and noisy. It would be hard for her he was sure.
The more he spoke to her the more he was liking her. She was not at all like the other self centered concieted members of The House of the Rose. She was sweet. He liked that very much and he told her so, "Kali, you know you are very different than most people I meet. It's refreshing."
"Refreshing? I think lemonade is refreshing, but eh, whatever floats your boat." After saying this, Kali's eyes widened dramatically and she clapped a hand over her mouth. Lowering her eyes apologetically, she began to speak again. "I'm sorry for that outburst, it was rude of me. Thank you for the compliment." After amending her words, she stopped to consider his question.
"School... I'm not sure. I have never been outside of the house for long periods of time so I don't know what it will be like." She tilted her head to the side questioningly. "What is school like?"
While she spoke, she couldn't help but stare at the boy wonderingly. How kind he was! In the few minutes that they spoke, she was already losing her unease. She had even made a casual slip that would never have happened with anyone else. The conversation, although not at all humorous, brought a smile to her face.
"Hmmm, good question. Let me think about how to answer that for a moment," Nick leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms as a thoughtful expression settled on his face. He sat in silence for a moment as she stared at the ceiling. He wanted to give her a true idea of what school would be like, but he didn't want to worry her. He had to say just the right thing, but he didn't know what that was. He finally just decided to be honest and hope it wouldn't sound too scary.
"School is okay. There are a lot of people there and they are all so different, so making friends is pretty easy. Since you've had a private tutor all these years I'm guessing you're pretty smart, so class will be a cinch for you. Most of the teachers are pretty nice, but there are a few that are just eveil. To be quite honest, the only thing you really have to watch out for is cafeteria food. I suggest packing a lunch," he explained as he leaned forward once more and fixed his watery blue eyes on her. He hoped he'd given a good explanatoin.
Kali couldn't help but smile. It had been uncomfortable at first, but she was really starting to like talking to Nick. He was interesting and kind, traits which she really admired in a person. "Cafeteria food?" She laughed a bit at that, wondering whether or not he was exaggerating about that. She decided to follow his advice, just in case. And she didn't mind, she rather liked cooking.
"Do you like school?" She questioned further. The way he had explained it made her eager to start, although she didn't particularly like the idea of getting up early. Or working, for that matter. She also had some doubts about making friends, but if Nick was going to be there... Well, it made her feel a little bit better, even if they weren't going to have the same classes.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a sharp ding as her father finally made his appearance. "Friends and acquaintances, I thank you all for your presence in our humble home." Yasurou felt the need to cough at the statement, but quietly restrained himself. "I hope your evening has been enjoyable so far, I am certainly pleased with the good company. Now, without further ado, I shall have my servants bring out our meal."
The words were met with polite applause, and servants began to pour out of the kitchen door bearing trays overflowing with food. Personally, Kali thought her parents had gone overboard with the event, but most of the guests seemed delighted.
Nick laughed when Kali asked him if he liked school. He debated for a second whether to tell her the truth or not. He decided he would. She didn't seem worried so far. He figured he wouldn't scare her off now.
"To be quite honest I am not a very big fan of school. It's pretty boring and the classes suck, but I like hanging out with my friends.Although it would be better for me to hang out with my friends in less crowded areas because when I am around other people I get distracted pretty easily..." Nick was cut off by the entrance of the food. He turned in his chair so he was facing the table, but refused to move making another guest rather upset. He was not about to give up his seat next to Kali. He was enjoying hinmself too much.
Once the meal was served and everyone was enjoying the delicious food that seemed a little over the top (Nick figured this was because of the pressence of him and his parents) he turned to Kali and continued what he was saying.
"The reason being is because I am a seeker. I am always looking out for signs of new shifters and if I see a potentail I pursue them and make further inquiries. It's something I never stop doing. I can't help it," he explained as he buttered a roll and began eating it. Seekers were thought very highly of in the society because they seperated the good from the bad; the House of the Rose from the Tribe of the Lilly.
Nick hated his job. He didn't feel right telling others they didn't deserve to live normal lives because they were different. It just didn't seem fair to him, but he had to do it.
Kali's eyes widened slightly as he explained his position. A seeker? But they're mostly... She paused a second, mulling over the new information in silence. Many seekers were arrogant and obnoxious, but Nick was a kind person. He didn't seem like one to enjoy forcing people to be hidden away. He must dislike his job, she decided, smiling a little sympathetically. Status and money weren't as great as most people assumed it to be.
Still smiling, albeit a little ruefully now, she reached out to spoon some tofurkey and mashed potatoes onto her plate. It had taken a lot of effort to convince her mother to serve vegetarian food with the normal meals, but it had happened in the end. Taking a small bite, she looked over at Nick. "Have some food." She encouraged him cheerfully, picking a roll of the tiered platter and placing it on his plate. "Taiya-san is a good cook."
Admittedly, she was using the food as a diversion, opting to talk about dinner rather than the problems of the shifters hierarchy. Not that she didn't have an opinion of it (hers was pretty low), she just didn't want to share them. She'd surely get chastised for it, anyway.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kip closed her eyes and leaned against the kitchen wall. She was exhausted. Not only was the dining room incredibly large, the atmosphere was certainly not easy on the nerves. The chef smiled at her pityingly; it was difficult to adapt to a life of servitude. She was lucky to have been sent to a tolerant family, some got locked away.
She paled suddenly, and felt a sharp pain in her head. Two furry ears popped up, giving her a somewhat anime appearance. "Wah!" She whined, pressing them down with her hands and trying to shift away. Maybe with a little concentration...
It was no use, she had no control over her strange abilities.
Nick laughed brightly at Kali then began piling his plate with food. For a few moments he was silent as he dug into his food. It had been a long day at school and he was very hungry. He shovled forkfull after forkfull into his mouth not bothering with manners. He suddenly stopped when his mother caught his eye and scowled at him. He straightned up and wiped his mouth then turned to Kali remembering that she was still there.
"Um...sorry about that. I'm kind of hungry," he apologized under his breath. Then the smile returned to his face as he picked up the roll she had set on his plate.
"So tell me something about yourself," he encouraged as he buttered the roll and bit into it with a more gentlemanly manner than he had had before.
"It's okay!" Kali muttered cheerfully, giggling at Nick. What a strange person! She'd expected someone of his status to be more... Well, not like him, that much was certain. She nibbled on the edge of a roll, a thoughtful expression on her face.
"You've said that once before." She pointed out, in reference to his request for more information about herself. She didn't give a very satisfactory response the last time, though; she just answered his questions in the shortest way possible. If it had been anyone other than this person, she would never dare to speak so openly, but he seemed to invite her comments.
She blinked slowly, wondering what exactly he wanted to know. Finally, "I'm Kali Shiraiinu, seventeen years of age. I like to travel, and my favorite form is some kind of bird." As she spoke, she couldn't help but note that her words sounded similar to ones that would go on a dating profile. That brought a blush to her cheeks, and she quickly ducked behind a napkin.
NIck threw back his head and laughed heartily at Kali as she hid behind her napkin. As he laughed his eyes began to water. He was enjoying himself so much.
"Kali, you are the most amusing girl I have met in such a long time," he informed her. "It is so refreshing to meet someone with such a sweet personality. May I inquire as to whether this is your usual disposition?" Nick asked as his laughs died down to small chuckles. His eyes twinkled as he stared at her and a smile twitched on his lips. He was very glad he had come to this dinner. He had almost decided against it. He hated these kinds of things. He had merely come to please his parents who, at the moment, didn't seem to pleased with him at all. He was not acting the part of the well bred gentleman he was supposed to be. But right now he didn't care. He was having too much fun.
"Oh? My... usual disposition? I suppose, although I normally don't speak quite this much, or quite this freely. Now, may I inquire as to whether this is your usual manner of speech?" Kali asked, in reference to his words. She didn't mind people with good vocabulary, on the contrary, she rather enjoyed speaking to them. But this... This seemed to be taking it a bit too far.
May I inquire as to whether this is your usual disposition?
It was ridiculous to think that someone would use such words in a casual (not that this event was in anyway casual) manner. She watched him with a mildly bemused expression as he laughed and smiled, not caring at all that he was laughing at her. In any case, she too was amused.
With every verbal exchange, she seemed to be growing bolder, a fact which both impressed and terrified her.
