This is a Fatal Frame base roleplay but you don't have to have played the game to be in this role play.


Introduction: This is going to be a small group role play that will mainly take place over forums but it will also have some things happening over PM. Its going to be a mystery with a very deep plot that the characters are going to have to unravel as they go. I will be PMing certain people/ characters little bits of info that the other players won't know. It will be up to those characters how they share that info though to make things interesting I think they should do it in a way as to not give it all away.
I will act as a character and as a sort of game master setting up clues and trying to move it along.

Plot: It is said that many years ago a small village vanished due to some terrible curse. Leaving only one survivor who had been outside the village walls when it disappeared. No one knows how or why it vanished. The survivor was a young blind/mute girl who was found on the side of the road just outside where the village should have been. Its been several years since then and the world has changed significantly. The story of the vanishing village has long been deemed a myth and the traditions of the past are all but forgotten. Though there are still a few who are called to this place and they are never heard from again.

Characters:

A Young Girl With a Past - A young girl who is haunted by dreams and stories from her past. She journeys to the village because of some momento that has been passed down her family for generations.

A Journalist- A young journalist looking for a career making story. he/she has heard the legends of the lost village and is out to find out the facts.He/She hires the explorer the journey with her.

An Occultist- The occultist has been having psychic premonitions pertaining to the village. She/He feels there is a great catastrophe waiting to strike.

A Priest- A young priest travels to the village in hopes of finding it and cleansing it of its curse.

Twin Brother 1- The two brothers were on a camping trip when the second brother ran off claiming that he heard voices. They stumble into the village by mistake.

Ghosts:
There will be many ghosts but only a few that can be playable. PM me if you want to be a ghost and I'll let you know which ones are available.

Rules on Ghosts:
1. Ghosts cannot be killed by any normal object. Only special items you get through out the game can drive them away.
2. Players can NPC small ghost encounters but the bigger ghosts / plot moving ghosts have to be established by me or by a player I PM

Bio: Saiyu was a happy child living with her mother and father until the age of six when a mysterious horrible fire took her parents away. She has vague memories of stories they used to tell her and a pendant her mother gave to her just before the fire.
Personality: Saiyu is normally calm and cool tempered unless you strike a soft spot and then she can get rather passionate pretty fast. She is very determined to find out what really happened to her parents and who she is.
Abilities: She is fairly street smart due to spending the majority of her life in an orphanage.
Personal belongings: A flashlight, Matches, A Note book and Pen

Bio: Asmara has always said that she was born to the absolute wrong family. She was born in ritzy, metropolitan Spain, but travelled all over Europe. Her family was very rich and had it not been for her older brother(someone her parents routinely pretended did not exist, other than sending him money), who had struck out on his own at an early age. It was he who kidnapped her once every few months, sneaking her off in the dead of night to spend a few days, or maybe even weeks if it was the summer, in the wildernesses of the world (he had money after all.). The second she was 18 and it was legal, Asmara followed in her brother's footsteps and set out to explore the South American rainforest. She's been an accomplished explorer ever since. Things have gone well for her ever since a year and a half ago when her brother went missing.
Personality: Asmara is cocky, outspoken, easily annoyed, and generally disdainful of others. She likes exploring because of the solitude it brings and the elegant simplicity of nature. She is quickly aggravated by what she may percieve as people holding her back. She is very curious however, and eagar for fame and renown.
Abilities: Asmara is stronger and more fit than the average woman her age, due to the harsh conditions she often subjects herself to. She also has great endurance and can easily stand uncomfortable situations without it bothering her very much. Over the years she has also developed very acute survival skills. And she's a pretty good cook too.
Personal belongings: Four complete outfits, a compass, a pocket knife, a large knife, rope, a tent(that she only uses half of the time), a sleeping bag, a small pan, a flint, small water purifier, toilet paper, granola bars for when there's not a lot of food, ((I really hope I'm not forgetting anything, that's a lot to carry anyway!))

Drop the priest? I think not! I'll say straight up this may be a bit vague, since I don't know what denomination/religion/belief system, if any, he is ascribing to. I will be more than happy to change anything that needs it.

Name: Steven Vance

Bio: Steven was born to a pretty average family in Maryland. His father worked as a mid-level government official, and his mother was a homemaker. He attended a catholic high school where he graduated near the top of his class. He was an athletic boy, playing varsity football and track. After his graduation he opted to study business at the local state college on an academic scholarship. Unfortunately, that worked out not so well. Due to excessive drinking and partying, he dropped off the football team, and then school after two years. He spent the next 7 years or so traveling around the country. Spent some time as a bouncer for a club in a pretty nasty part of New York, spent some time working on farms in the mid west, even did a summer as a fisherman in Alaska. After years of wandering, and a few out of the country visits, he was drawn back into the church, and decided to give up his wild days and join the Priesthood. Focused and driven now, he went through the seminary with flying colors. Though he still enjoys a drink, he no longer does any drugs and keeps his nose clean. The order recognized his unique skill set, and after a brief probationary period, began sending him on assignments that were considered more dangerous or unique than most were used to.
Personality: Steven is a pretty jovial person. Most wouldn't recognize him as a priest until they were told, mostly due to his social behavior and love of the bottle.

Abilities:
--First aid (being a traveler and bouncer gives you all sorts of fancy tricks to clean up cuts and bruises. Mundane/non-magical of course.)
--Sanctify: Able to create and use holy water, though less potent than the small bit he carries with him from those high up in the organization.
--Burial: Able to send non-violent spirits on to the afterlife.
Personal belongings: Photograph of family portrait, wallet sized. Various religious odds and ends to include holy symbol(s), books, holy water, etc. Pack to include tent, sleeping bag, limited supplies if necessary, utility knife.

Appearance: Kept in shape since his high school athlete days with loads of physical activity, Steven is wide shouldered, and pretty trim in the waist, much stronger than one expects a priest, especially of his age. Of course along with age, comes those pesky signs. His short, straight, raven black hair is showing the first few grays, with his stubble a few steps ahead. His clear blue eyes still shine with the adventure and hope of youth, but are tempered by experience and wisdom as well.

I hope this is all acceptable, and let me know if I need to change anything, especially the magic stuff. I may expand some of the descriptions later. Kind of a 'rough draft'.

Type: Twin Brother 1
Bio: His life was absolutely abnormal. He firmly believes that all his luck transfered to his brother as the older Arentus is the luckiest man on earth. While together, their abnormal luck seems to cancel but separated, their luck is on extreme ends.

Up till 9 years old he had a brother complex unwilling to leave his lucky brother for fear of all the things that would happen to him. Up till the age of 15 his inferior complex and pride made him think that his brother only pitied him. At the age of 18 the brothers reconciled and created an unbreakable bond. Phileo also matured having taken the sum of his life's experiences and turning it into strength thinking of it as training to make himself a stronger person in personality and character.

He had finished high school and is currently enrolled in university. His dream job is a professional gambler, or a professional cheater as his brother calls it. He often goes on trips with his brother but due to a busy schedule on his brother's end Phileo did all the preparations. When they got there... wonder what happened? (laugh)

Personality: Strong, determined and unwilling to lose. His a no sense of justice and will will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. His brother often has to keep him in check and Phileo will always listen... for the moment. Though he never pays attention to what is right or wrong, Phileo's actions are much more based on the things he cares about. For those that he care about there is no line he would not cross. But he cares about himself also and when there is a conflict of interest, his choices sometimes come at random.

He likes to get his brother angry at times joking with him and the likes. Although, after reconciliation, he has promised his brother not to abuse his ability to cheat and rig (since luck never works for him) Phileo had a cunning play on words that to cheat at moderation is not quite the same as abusing the ability to cheat. Just enough is alright.

Likes to do random things at random times while keeping to logic at others times. His brother is used to all his weirdness but often reprimands him telling Phileo that others will find it awkward.
Abilities:
Unlucky - The passive ability to attract danger and misfortune. (Can be temporarily canceled by his brother's good luck)
Determination - The ability of one's will to persevere through hardship
Cheat - The ability to rig games. Usually with games involving cards, coins and dices.
Pretense - The ability to pretend, to act, often used in junction with 'Cheat'
Vocalize - The ability throw his voice making it appear in places other than its source. Capable of mimicking the sound of another. Often used in junction with 'Pretense'.
Survival - The ability to survive in the wilderness, helpful when camping
First Aid - The ability to treat small wounds (usually requires equipments)
Tough - Natural resistance, not removal but endurance, against misfortunes when it strikes the body and mind. Developed after enduring much in his 20 years of living.
Creativity - The ability to think of random things
Articulation - The ability to ponder over things, scrutinize over others for the sake of gaining insights and new knowledge.

His bother made him take a haircut just before they went on the trip so the length reaches just above his eyebrow. His body is tone and carries scars from many misfortune that occurred in the past. For the trip he wore waterproof steel toed hiking boots, layered clothing and waterproof outer layer.

Bio: Leo has been able to see ghost ever since he was a small child when his mother died during child birth. He always felt like somebody was watching and when he was about 4 he saw his mother's ghost. Shortly after that he started to see things that where still yet to come. They where always just small things like somebody tripping or somebody getting into a fight. As he got older his premonitions got stronger and stronger. He saw his best friend die only a few minuets before he would so he didnt have enough time to save him so he didnt get the chance to. After that moment he decided that he wouldnt try to hide the fact he could see things before they happen. He recently saw what he thought might be something big happening in this town but he wasnt sure so he decided to come just to make sure that if anything did happen than he would be able to help stop it instead of last time.
Personality: Leo is quiet and usually keeps to himself unless he sees something than depending on what it is he will probably warn people about what it is. He isnt very easily angered and will usually let people mind there own business.
Abilities: Premonitions and able to see ghost very easily

Character: Twin Brother #2

Bio: As the more "normal" of the two of them, one would think Felix wouldn't stand out much. But with his lucky streak, something he was at polar opposites with his brother when separated, he actually was a rather popular character. His luck, throughout his childhood and early adolescence, brought him many different friends and people to meet, and got him a scholarship for college for some random contest he found online one day.

When he was a child, he dearly loved his brother, a bond between them that was indestructible -- inseparable. But when that disappeared in their early adolescence, most especially through their Junior High years, he felt very awkward around his brother. Because he was so much more fortunate, Felix always wondered if he was taking for granted the good parts in his life while Phil suffered on the sidelines. At times, he was very insecure and tried to reestablish that bond between them though it often fell through. If not for their final reuniting of friendship and brotherliness by the end of High School, Felix probably still would've felt very unsure about himself and what to do without his brother's love. But because they are now together again, just like when they were kids, he's okay now.

Personality: It's a wonder if he's the weaker of the two of them. Because of his luck, and because of the feelings he experienced throughout his childhood and adolescence, growing up both with and without Phileo's attention and brotherly love, he learned to not take anything for granted. Even if he was a lucky son-of-a-gun and often didn't mean for all sorts of stuff to happen, he didn't boast about it or abuse his strange "powers." He wasn't like Phil who liked to utilize his cheating skills whenever he wanted -- or at least how he used to.

Honestly, sometimes he wondered who was older. Phil could be childish at times, always poking fun at him and riling him up because he knew he was an easy target. But with Felix's milder attitude and outlook on the world, sometimes it seemed he was younger. Being the more modest of the two because of his strange, unnatural good luck, Felix would rather, sometimes, be living a simple, honest life than one that was jacked up by all these ace cards up his sleeves that he didn't even know existed or had control over.

Abilities: Frankly, with all his good luck, Felix hoped to God, Buddha, and everyone else in between that he didn't have some other crazy ace up his sleeve he didn't know about.

Personal belongings: Wallet, cell phone, watch, keys, the other half of his and Phil's camping gear, his own personal pocket knife, foil, cheap digital camera, compass, binoculars.

Appearance: Short blond hair with electric blue eyes. Slightly slenderer than Phileo, though just as fit due to all sorts of sports activities he was involved in throughout his school years. Being twins, it's a given they looked alike. Double piercing on the cartilage of his left ear, now fashioned with two small, subtle loops. (The only risque thing he did to truly differentiate himself from Phileo back when he was a stupid young teen and they were going through hard times.)
