All righty, then. I'm down with doin' it bare-bones old school. Let's get this ball rollin'.
Name: Veritas Anna Arcturus
Age: I'm twenty-two years young, thanks.
Occupation(s): I got a knack for breakin' into places I'm not wanted using a computer, hell I've even invented equipment for myself that makes it easier on my noodle. I'm also a pretty capable pilot, or so I'm told. Don't quote me on that one, though.
Gender: Are you blind or somethin'? I'm a woman!
Race/Species: Again, you need to check your eyes if you can't see I'm human.
Physical Description: Veritas is a short girl, standing only about five-foot six-inches and sporting a thin, athletic frame. Her skin is a fair, sandy pink tone which compliments her pink lips and emerald green eyes. Her hair is short and a fiery red color, which is often put up in a ponytail as it is cut in a fairly messy manner. Her face is a thin v-shape, her cheekbones highly exaggerated and high up on her face. Her eyes are relatively close-set and rest somewhat low on her face, finding themselves on either side of her small, pinched nose. Her chin is rounded but thin, and drops down into her short, slender neck. Her neck runs down on either side to meet her small, rounded shoulders, which extend into short but toned arms which end with two somewhat small hands. Her bosom is a fair size, not too exaggerated but not without presence, while her chest flows down to her rather short but thin stomach. Most of Vertias' height rests in her long, toned legs which are deceptively strong. Her legs end in relatively small feet, though they are usually covered by boots.
Hacker/pilot gear (Visor up),
Hacker/Pilot gear (Visor down),
Field gear/body shotWork History: Veritas has a... Let's say 'colorful' history of hacking into plenty of high-profile outfits. From big business to classified military files, you name it chances are Veritas has hacked it. As an ex-pirate, though she needed to learn how to get herself out of tough jams and thus got the hang of piloting certain simple vehicles. She's usually able to understand most ships, but overly-complex models like enormous battlecruiser-esque ships are just a little out of her league.
Equipment: S-59X "Specter" field suit, a bodysuit that hides the heartbeat and vital signs of it's wearer from personal radar devices, thus providing a good psuedo-stealth camouflage but limited armor against lead and metal-based projectiles and little-to-no armor against energy-based projectile weaponry.
B-52G "Banshee" piloting gear, a suit of pilot armor which is designed similarly to the S-59X. It is a bodysuit that allows the wearer comfortable maneuverability while in the cockpit of the vehicle in question and is easily detachable from any binds that one may have to secure themselves in to make for an easy escape after a crash-landing or an easier means to access a tactical abandonment maneuver. It also contains a homing device built-in which can be installed into any radar, allowing one to pinpoint the position of the wearer at all times.
The "Neural-Visual Targeting System and Hacking Visor", a custom piece of equipment made by Veritas herself. The visor immediately analyzes her brainwaves and transmits incoming targets within a 400-mile radius of the wearer directly to the brain, allowing split-second maneuverability and tactical approaches. It will focus in on the nearest ten targets at a time, though alert the wearer if there are more inbound. It also acts as a hacking supplement, allowing the wearer to freely access a computer without the use of a mouse or keyboard due to reading brainwaves and executing procedures based upon readings. This is a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment which only Veritas has.
"Old reliable", a vintage silver six-shooter revolver pistol with a wooden grip. Taken from her father's personal belongings after his death, ammo for such an old weapon is scarce so she only uses this when absolutely necessary. Fires .44 Magnum rounds, which she has a decent amount of but dares not waste them.
An overclocked, modified C-10 Canister Rifle. A long-range rifle that shoots explosive canisters at it's target, which explode approximately .5 seconds after the round hits, allowing for precision killing. A direct hit to the chest, head, or stomach means certain death. A direct hit to a limb means a lost limb. Veritas' weapon is modified with an "Angelic Trumpet" A-23 long barrel, an incredibly long-range and incredibly illegal piece of equipment that increases range by another five-hundred yards over normal range. Illegal because it overclocks the weapon, making the explosive canisters it shoots to have an incredibly hard impact and adding the chance of exploding on-impact.
A P38 Gauss Pistol. Nicknamed the "Scythe" by those in the military, this weapon was made to rip through light armor with ease and rupture vital areas on the body. A shot from this pistol will likely rip through anyone or anything without a suit of military-grade "Shock-stabilizer" heavy armor.
A cache of Punisher Grenades. Military-grade concussive grenades that will likely disorient anyone wearing armor light enough, but are made for taking out heavily-armored adversaries such as mechanical walkers or tanks. A single lightly-armored target has a chance of concussion, but hardly ever serious injury or death.
A tactical combat knife, for swift hand-to-hand kills out in the field on in the event of a boarding scenario.
Possessions: Veritas carries many changes of clothes, as being an outlaw on the run has left it's mark and she is always packing ways to become 'incognito'. She also carries a silver-chained necklace with a jade attached to the end, which is quite the rare mineral these days. Along with her belongings is a picture of her father, framed in an antique golden stopwatch which she keeps as safe as possible.
Vehicles: An SE-58 "Seraph" light, two-seated, four-winged fighter/transport starship. Small enough to maneuver through a large city, but able to sustain secure space travel.
Biography: Growing up on a human-dominated planet was something of a luxury in these times. Many planets had already colonized a vast multitude of races by the time Veritas was born, but planet Ceru had been mostly human-dominated for as long as anyone could remember. Veritas never knew her mother, as she died during childbirth, leaving her father to take care of her full-time. Her father, Sevren Arcturus, decided to get a job with the Galactic Federal Government so as to find a job that he could work at home from. He succeeded, becoming an intergalactic currency and customs agent and while not allowing him to work at home, it allowed him to bring his daughter with him. Veritas only spent about four years of her life on Ceru before traveling the galaxy with her father. Though her time on her home planet was brief, she began to miss it shortly after leaving to her new life of travel with her father.
By the time she was thirteen, her father had become a well-known customs agent for the galaxy, thus defeating his purpose of obtaining the job he had in the first place. He would often have to leave Veritas alone wherever they were staying in order to work. Due to this, Veritas often spent her time on the laptop computer her father gave her for her birthday when she was ten, a top-of-the-line portable computer that wouldn't become outdated for years to come. She slowly became enthralled with technology, the pursuits of the craft and how they worked. Being mostly home-schooled and self-tutored, she would often bring it upon herself to make connections in the towns or cities they stayed in to learn more about her technological pursuits. By the time she was fifteen, she had began to learn advanced techniques using a computer; programming, script writing, software development, and the subject she found the most entrancing of all: hacking.
In just a year she became proficient in the shady practice of hacking and began delving deeper and deeper into it. As she learned more she realized that she never truly dove into the deeper aspects of hacking, thus leaving a hunger for more and more of a challenge. At age sixteen she hacked a stranger's bank account, drained his funds and placed it in a dummy account she had made with an alias. She was never caught, which only fueled the girls' ambition to learn more and hack into more things. Though, as she learned more about hacking she also delved into other technological pursuits, such as building and maintaining technological hardware. She became so adept at it that even her father, who at this point she would see perhaps once a week, recognized her talent. Though when he offered her a job she became scared and declined, as she had been hacking into his forbidden files to look through other classified documents that were concealed by his government job, but the gesture of kindness did not go unnoticed to Veritas and her suspicion of her father not recognizing her talents that had since risen then dissipated. With that she learned over the next few years to open up much more to her father, though keeping secret her life as a hacker.
At age eighteen the unthinkable happened when she got word that her father was shot and killed on-location while attempting to defend a superior of his from an assassin. All Veritas received was a phone call letting her know that her only family had died, killed on the job. Her rage grew and she ultimately blamed the government to whom her father was loyal to for his untimely death. She then took her and her father's money and began to travel the universe, leaving everything behind and looking for her own place in the galaxy, all the while hacking the government's accounts and stealing their money for her own benefit. She eventually bought her Seraph with the stolen funds she had accumulated which allowed her to more easily access the universe at her fingertips, though she would soon find out that the universe was a harsh place.
A year later, she was captured by Space Pirates. When they learned of her technological and hacking prowess, they threatened to kill her if she didn't join up with them. It was an offer she couldn't refuse. For two years she ran with the space pirate crew, who called themselves The Reds, as their primary hacker and weapons maintenance girl. They taught her how to fight, how to fly and how to kill, but the more they taught her the more she learned how to eventually betray these idiots. It didn't take long to undermine the entire crew, all she needed to do was plant fake evidence in the computers of the Captain and the First mate and have them turn on each other. The Reds were finished, and Veritas left with not only knowledge, but a good cache of weaponry. She now finds herself applying for the Space Trotter mercenary group, seeing as it's hard for a person of her stature to get a legitimate job. Though her past is sketchy and her motives are unclear, she will still work to the best of her ability if hired to the mercenary group and with hope, find her true place in the universe.
