Full name: Slaine Rogerson
Alias': Connoisseur
Gender: Male
Species: Terran
Ethnicity: Caucasoid, name derivative of Irish origin
Birthdate/Age: 4104, the age of 25.
Current Occupation: Currently, Slaine takes the odd job piloting escort craft for whoever is hiring. He guards shuttles for a living, alongside his compatriot Merlow, his mentor and gunner.
Physical Characteristics: He stands at about five feet and seven inches in height, small and lean, weighing in at around 160 pounds. He wears his straight brown hair cut under his ears, messy, with the bangs resting half an inch above the eyes. His eyes are a darker shade of brown.
Mental Characteristics: Outwardly, Slaine appears to have an adventurous streak, dashing into problems without thinking them through. In reality, he harbors a distinct fear every time he knows he's getting in over his head. He sometimes lies awake at night dreading the next day, especially with his line of business. He's smart enough to know how to build his own ship and what each of the parts do, but not enough so that he has a complete understanding of why they work; that is, he knows the proper placement and power ratios for a jump drive, but he's not going to know why the jump drive even works the way it does. He's old enough to understand wisdom, and to recognize the difference between courageousness and foolishness, but he's young enough to still make mistakes. He favors the more humanoid races over those that are more alien, though he tries to avoid placing prejudice upon anyone.
Disabilities: Slaine suffers from anxiety, and sometimes takes 'happy pills' to relieve himself. It's not usually debilitating, though he can get quite flustered and frustrated in the proper situations. Typically when it comes to life or death scenarios, he can ride himself off on adrenaline, but he gets very shaky afterwards.
Idiosyncrasies: Habitually, Slaine whistles whenever he isn't talking to someone. He sometimes tends to speak too fast, or tries to act too cool. He tends to speak his thoughts out loud, especially when he shouldn't.
Planet/System of Origin: XG-5
Skills: He's a good frigate pilot and a decent gunner. He can maintain his equipment, and can piece together something out of scraps. He's a decent shot with a pistol when he needs to be, a good brawler when paired with a weapon, and can handle the basics of low-g martial arts. He can write songs, remember phrases, can hold his breath for over a minute, and can pitch a ball pretty well. He's typically good with directions, and his spacial awareness is rather honed, and can outrun most people when completely unhindered by equipment. He's good with zero-g acrobatics, but tends to fall flat on his face in normal gravity. He knows emergency first aid, can calculate chess positions up to three moves, has a deceptive poker face, and makes a good scavenger when times are tough. With the right tools, he can make a decent meal.
Physical Particulars: None of any really pertinence.
Mental/Psionic Particulars: Slaine is a specialist in fighter craft, able to handle both maneuvering his craft and manning the swivel mount. Granted, he hasn't mastered performing a dual-role, but with the proper computer aid he can handle his ship like a pro. Until he gets the proper practice, he's stuck with either taking a gunner with him or using computer-aided targeting, but otherwise he has the aptitude and spacial awareness for dogfights.
Previous Occupation(s): Slaine has always been a delivery boy in some form or another, typically running parcels by foot or scooter. When he met with Merlow, he took up piloting as a profession, working for the various mafias and corporations as an escort for carrier shuttles. The pay wasn't very good, but it was enough to scrape by and keep the White Duchess intact.
General History: Slaine was born after the initial passing of the blackout. He currently lives in a small apartment with his mother, Molly, and his best friend and mentor, Merlow. His father, Rodger, left a long while ago when he was a kid. Slaine lived as part of the lower class, his family losing mostly everything when the Blackout hit. He lived day to day working alongside his mother, being home schooled when he could, up through his teenage years. That was when he started doing delivers as a runner, making a bit of extra dough with a bit of extra responsibility. During one of his runs, he found work alongside an older Avian named Merlow, a former POW and ex-fighter pilot. With a bit of prodding and a run through a flight simulator, Merlow figured that Slaine could play with the big boys and get a step up in pay, and, maybe, a chance to leave this sorry system behind. So, with the cash that both Merlow and Slaine had saved up, they pieced together a small fighter they called the White Duchess. As of now, the two do all their jobs together, Merlow acting as gunner, Slaine as pilot.
Equipment/Attire/Currency on person: To list: A small apartment, occupied by Slaine, his mother, and Merlow; Basic essentials includes clothing, bed, food, flight suit; A small Mk27 Isidro Autoloader gauss pistol, with spare ammunition; An utility knife; A set of visor-styled sunglasses; Various mechanic's tools; A scattered books on various subjects, both for learning and leisure; A space fighter called The White Duchess, a two-seater fighter capable of fitting a pilot in front, and a gunner behind. The ship is armed with a swivel-mounted gauss cannon on the top of the ship, capable of aiming in 270degrees of arc with a full range of rotation. The gunner's seat is of special make, able to transition between standard humanoid positioning as well as allowing for a special aiming mechanism designed to be operated by all four limbs and full motion of the body. This design fits Merlow's style, allowing him to make fluid and precise adjustments using his own body; Enough cash to survive the next couple weeks without work.

Previous Occupation(s): Back in the days when Merlow was a lad, he was a soldier in the Avian army in a campaign pitched between the Avians and the Terran-Denali. He was captured a few years into his career, making XG-7 his home. After the Blackout and his subsequent release from imprisonment, he spent his later years picking up cash wherever he could, typically through gambling and smuggling runs.
General History: As one of many brothers and sisters who joined the war against the Denali, Merlow set out to make a name for himself as one of the top pilots in the military. He was the Pale Dagger, pilot of the Toccata, a master of surgical strikes upon the engines and turrets of well-armed cruisers. However, he, the perfect warrior, slipped up once, and his life was turned upside-down as he became a prisoner of war. He was studied upon XG-7, where he learned how to survive as one man amongst many wronged, and discovered how to live life on the dark side. After his eventual release from prison, he scummed around, living day to day. It was on one fateful day that on a smuggling run for a large shipment of personal ordnance that he ran into Slaine Richardson. Originally using the young man and his money to try to find a legitimate way out of the system, Merlow eventually decided to teach Slaine the ropes about piloting after witnessing his talent. With what money the two of them could pool, they bought a fighter for themselves, the garage to keep it in, and the parts to keep it running. Merlow moved in with Slaine and his mother, agreeing to pay his expenses while he lived there, and now currently works alongside the man in his escort jobs.
