The Station ALWAYS ACCEPTING.
Ylanne Sorrows Brief Description This is a character-driven writing experiment form of roleplay. It is a modern/realistic setting. It may be dark. It may be comical. It may be tragicomical ( my personal favorite). It all depends on your characters and what you have happen. It is an advanced/literate roleplay. It does not require posts every day.
Introduction San Francisco Police Station is always crowded. There are officers, beat officers and plainclothes detectives, administrators and bureaucrats, reporters and private investigators, lawyers, suspects, witnesses, complainants, people who want their cars back from the impound lot, people who want to report a missing child, people who want to confess to a crime they didn’t actually commit.
In the main lobby, these people collide. They have the chance to talk to each other, or to avoid talking completely. Some are here by choice. Others have no choice but to be here. Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want? What do you fear most? What will come of your visit? Or are you about to become a permanent fixture here in the Station?
Rules 1. The usual roleplay etiquette applies here. This roleplay requires that you do understand the usual roleplay etiquette. This pertains to things such as godmodding, Sues, and character deaths.
2. You are required to post as often as you reasonably can, while keeping your real life and school/work a priority over this roleplay. You will not be forced or asked to post more than once a week. However, you may post more often if you like.
3. Serious, creative writers should join. The emphasis on this roleplay is on character development and interaction. It is character-driven, but plot is important too. The players here are strongly encouraged to work together in groups of two or more, and even overlapping, to create and write subplots to direct the story. Not me. You.
4. You may create more than one character. No spots shall be reserved until you have a complete profile.
5. Literacy is an absolute must. This is an advanced roleplay.
Character Profile Important Note : Do not add personality or history. Keep ‘reason at the station’ an answer to that question only. If you like, you may write out your character’s personality or history in another document saved to your own computer and use it for reference; however do NOT post such information here. I would like to see you reveal these things in the course of the roleplay. (You may start in your very first post, though I don’t expect a biography of your character in your first post, or even your first few posts).

Name: Blake Harrison
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Occupation: Jazz Musician
Reason at the Station: Admitting to a crime.
Appearance: Blake wears a velve coat over his long sleeved cotton shirt, and his black cotton slacks. He stands tall enough to stand out in a crowd but not so tall to be remarkable. He has short black hair which you don't really pay attention to when your talking to him because you just can't stop looking at his eyes. His eyes are light blue, so light blue that you could swear they are clear. In fact at any sort of artifially lit enviorment people tend to flinch at how light his eyes are, like he is some sort of vampire. Of course, it really doesn't help that he also has pale skin, yep, staying under the small dim lights of Jazz clubs really doesn't help the complection. Sometimes Blake wishes he had a set of vampire's teeth, then he could just really go at it with people in the elevator. Other than that there is nothing to remarkable about it.

Name: Tessa Greene
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Occupation: College Student
Reason at the Station: Reporting the disappearance of her roommate.
Appearance: Brown-eyed, brown-haired, freckled, and slightly disheveled, Tessa's near indistinguishable from the stereotypical college student. She has no distinguishable piercings or tattoos, and little make-up. Typically bundled in several layers - warm, earthy greens, browns, and reds - Tessa keeps a weary-looking satchel slung at her side at all times. She has a slight build, just topping 5'2".

Ian and Rachel, you are both accepted.
By the way, I forgot to mention in the first post that I encourage you to outline your characters' personalities and/or history in a separate document as reference. It's not set in stone, but it can help serve as a guide.
On another note, welcome to the site, Rachel. :) I'm glad to see another happy roleplayer here. As a site mentor, if you ever have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to shoot me a message. May I ask what you are studying in college? (I read your profile, but hey, it's public! :D ).
If either of you know anyone else who might be interested in this roleplay, send them a message. I'd love to see more signups.

Thanks, Ylanne. It's been a while since I've actively roleplayed so hopefully the rust isn't too obvious. I'll definitely ask if I need anything. :)
At the moment I'm studying English Lit, and considering the (slightly daunting) possibility of going into education...
Anyway, I'll pass on the message. Hopefully this attracts more interest, it's an intriguing setting. ;)

Name: Gemma Sanders
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Occupation: College student...in theory.*
Reason at the Station: Drunk driving
Appearance: Whatever flaws Gemma may have personality-wise - and there are many, a fact that most authority figures within five miles can attest to - she is unarguably an attractive young woman. She is blessed with a curvy figure, well endowed in both the northern and southern regions. Her hair is a dark, dark shade of brown, the kind that could easily be mistaken for black, and contrasts nicely with her pale complexion. And then there are her eyes; long-lashed and intensely blue, Gemma's eyes are easily her best feature.
*If I'm accepted into this roleplay, you'll have to forgive my intentional vagueness on the subject of college. I'm not really that knowledgeable on the subject...seeing as I'm only just turning fourteen in February. x3

Apostophe, you are accepted. If you have any questions about college, simply ask. It's why I'm here. And while I'm at it, let me add a sheet of my own:
Name: Suhair Malak
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Occupation: Homicide detective
Reason at the Station: He works here.
Appearance: Suhair is a tall man of average build and weight, with a round face, somewhat flat features, dark brown eyes, and dark brown hair combed back neatly with a receding hairline. He appears to be of Asian Indian descent, but hails from Pakistan. He typically dresses in suits around the station or to court, and will wear casual dress out in the field.

Name: Jason Towers
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Occupation: Student
Reason at the Station: Ran away from home.
Appearance: Jason is short and stubby with medium length mud-brown hair. His plump face has several signs of acne with one particularly big blemish just above his right eyebrow. His small button nose and thin lips make his head seem even larger than it already is. His innocent auburn eyes are constantly darting around and his chubby hands are always fidgeting.
I've never done a CS this short before. Let me know how it works.

Towers, as I stated in my last post, and the first one, you are highly encouraged to write out a long, detailed personality and history sections of your profile, but not to post them in this thread; instead, to keep them saved in a separate Word processing document, whether Word, Text, Rich Text, or Open Office.
If you're still uncomfortable, you can PM me said information. The sheet you have written is fine, provided your IC posts will be literate. :)
Does anyone else know of anyone else who might be even vaguely interested in this roleplay?

Name: Raheem Anderson
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Occupation: [Legally] Unemployed
Reason at the Station: Drug Distribution
Appearance: Raheem, an African American male average in height, sports cornrows beaded at the ends to hide it's nappy, untamed texture. His eyes are heavy and naturally silver, dressed with thick, dark eyebrows and even thicker lips, colored black from smoking. Raheem has a light skin tone with a slime muscular structure.
I'm really excited about the events that will occur in this police station. I've never written a character sheet this short before and I'm nervous ^^.
You really do love me, its true because I say it is.

PriestKoo, you are accepted, of course. :)
As I've said, I want you to reveal your character's personality and history in the roleplay, and to not feel as though it is set in stone. Feel free to write it out in a separate, private document, and feel free to write a novel about it. Even feel free to PM it to me. Just don't post it in public in this thread.
I'm surprised at the sudden interest. When this was first posted, there was no response, not until the next day, so I'm glad to see all of these characters and wonderful writers here. Because of the volume of interest, I will try to post the IC thread tomorrow, so you can get to posting. Objections, anyone?

Name: Eric Swift
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Occupation: Police Officer (You know, the kind that does paperwork and responds to calls, etc.)
Reason at the Station: He works here. Duh.
Appearance: Eric is never one to be considered 'normal'. Heck, he doesn't even know the meaning of the word (okay, he does but he ignores it). He can almost always be seen wearing his uniform which is usually creased and looks as though he slept in it. And when he isn't wearing that, he can be caught in a baggy t-shirt and loose fitting pants (preferably jeans). He wears black, Velcro shoes and won't touch lace shoes for any reason. He has long hair that, when let down, ends just above his waist. He prefers to keep it tied back in a ponytail except for his bangs which he keeps either loose and draped over the front of his chest or tied behind his head in a loose knot that can easily be untied.
Eric stands at about 5' 10" and weighs just shy of 133 lbs. He is also very proud of his multicolored eyes. While his right eye is a bright, baby blue, his left eye is a tricolor hazel. He has a silver bracelet on his left wrist that he's always wearing except when he's asleep. He has several large scars on his chest and back that look almost as though he had a portion of his body carved out or something similar. However, that's generally hidden beneath his clothing. He also has an artificial right leg which he isn't afraid of showing and actually allows him to keep his job.
Oh, wow. Revival of a dead character. 0o I've never played a police character before (almost did but the RP died before I could join) so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or incredibly stupid. (Can you believe that I found Eric in a file hidden away on a floppy disk that I lost for, like, three years? Can't wait to see how he turns out!)
FRIENDS: Will look at you like you're crazy when you tell them you're an alien from outerspace.
BEST FRIENDS: Will break you out of the loony bin and drive you to New Mexico to meet up with the mothership.
There are very few personal problems that cannot be solved through a suitable application of high explosives.
Who was the first person to say "See that chicken over there... I'm gonna eat the first thing that comes out of its butt"?

Name: Lance Taggart
Age: 48
Occupation: Decective
Reason at the Station: He works there
History: Spent time as a U.S. Army Ranger from 1982 to 2007, then decided to retire. However, he felt unfulfilled; he decided to join the police force and quickly worked his way up to detective despite his age. He is still considered a new addition to the force, but his skills in the field show the work of a veteran.
[b]Personality: Gruff and to the point, like a Clint Eastwood character. Though he is moralistic and upright, he doesn't like bullshit and has a bad day if he doesn't get his coffee, but will do anything to earn his paycheck at the end of the day. The fucking end.
Anything Else: Carries a Taurus PT99 handgun given to him fresh off of the assembly line for his 13th birthday in 1975. He cares for it less like a tool and more like a child or a best friend.
I added some extra stuff to be impressive. :)

Name: Janice Leanne Jacobson
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Occupation: Student
Reason at the Station: Not necessarily running from, but escaping from home.
Appearance: Not the first person you would pick in a crowd, like those who decide to dye or highlight their hair purple, or go to such lengths to get facial piercings. Though she has thought about it. At an average height, Janice would consider herself a bit ordinary. Nothing like the models you see on television or billboards or anything like that.
Her eyes give her the most distinction if you were to label something. A bright green, with a tinge of yellow. You could say there wouldn't be anything like it, unless you include her grandmother. She wields earthy brown hair that waves down to the middle of her back, which could normally be seen in her hand, or in a half ponytail as to keep it out of her eyes.
Janice bears no freckles of any kind. A trait she is most proud of, despite the fact that everyone else in her family does, she makes up for this with her maternal inheritance of browned skin. The only thing from her mother's side is her slim figure, and slender facial features.
I would cross a thousand miles for you. I would climb mountains and swim oceans just to be with you. And if you cried, I would be there to make things better. But if I said I love you, would you laugh and turn your back on me? Would you take advantage of my love then break my heart when you were finished? Or would you hold me in your arms and say Ditto?

Name: Melanie Hart
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Occupation: Medical Examiner
Reason at the Station: To meet with investigators about evidence found on…or rather in the body of a homicide victim.
Appearance: Lanie is naturally rather petite; boney and small it seems almost as though the slightest of wind could knock her off her feet. Her intense pure blue eyes gleam with intelligence from behind a pair of black rimmed squared glasses that she wears as opposed to contacts. She normally keeps her medium length light brown curls clipped up and out of her face, as it is unruly and hard to manage when left down.
When investigating a body at a crime scene, or visiting the station to share evidence she’ll often wear a buisness suit of some sort, and while working in the lab is never seen out of her white lab coat. Her overall appearance seems effortless, while she maintains a professional and pulled together look she is rather low maintenance when it comes to such things like make-up, dressing up and cosmetics…After all, she works with dead people, she doesn’t really have anyone to impress.
This is a recycled character from a roleplay that never got off the ground, but I loved her enough to give her a shot at life. ;]

Kay422
- Member for 3 years
Name: John Doe
Age: Appears to be in his late teens to early twenties.
Gender: Male
Occupation: Unknown
Reason at the Station: He has amnesia, and was found by an officer.
Appearance: He stands at an average 5'10, with shoulders slightly broader than most, and a well developed physique. He is muscular, but not overly so, more of a leanly toned musculature, akin to that of a runner or swimmer. Despite his apparent physical fitness, he looks to be quite sickly, with deep bags under his sea-green eyes, and sunken cheeks. His hair is short, and greasy, a tangled mess sticking up from his head, and he has a layer across stubble on his face, both a deep reddish brown that contrasts strongly with his pale, and sallow skin tone. He is relatively attractive, but not anything spectacular, and his sickly appearance, coupled with his wounds, both old and fresh, make him more of an intimidating figure than a sympathetic one. These injuries include his nose, crooked from an old break, a freshly split lip, a black eye, a large head wound wrapped in a white bandage, and a myriad of scars, the most prominent being the obvious track marks on the inside of his left elbow. He has a tattoo on the inside of his right wrist of a red rose, similar in style to that on the cover of the Greatful Dead's American Beauty.

This sounds like a cool rp! I really hope to be apart of a literate rp that can get its butt of the ground! Lol!
(Btw, nice short character sheets Ylanne. :) I like that. )
Name: Savannah Battlo
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Occupation: Performer/Tutor (Specializes in Ballet, Jazz, and Broadway Dancing/Singing)
Reason at the Station: She was brought to the station by a bum who claimed she got drunk in the park and passed out there. She's now sobering up at the station.
Appearance: Shaggy chocolate-colored shoulder length hair, sharp brown eyes with thick eyebrows to top them off(she keeps them well-kept and plucked). Well-proportioned face, prominent cheeks bones, and full lips placed above a bitty pointy chin. Her skin is a bronze color. She's skinny, with an a-sized chest and small butt, but she's pretty in an anorexic model sort of way. She's tall, standing at around 5'7".
Currently she's wearing a dark pair of blue jeans, flat dance shoes, a metallic silver tank top, and a smooth black jacket that cuts off at her hips. She is also carrying a small silver purse with the strap over her shoulder. Her hair is still pulled back in a ponytail from her audition but is loose with strands of her hair falling out of the silver band.

Hi everyone! I am pleasantly surprised to see all of this sudden interest in this roleplay.
Firstly,
Seijun13, you are accepted.
dig17, as towers pointed out, please read the 'important notice' about the character profile. I even put the heading in a red font. I appreciate that you wanted to go above and beyond the expectations, but there is a specific reason I asked for players not to include a personality field or history field. (You can keep that information, and you can keep it on your computer too, but I don't want it posted in the profile in public). So remove those fields, and redact the 'appearance', and you will be accepted. I like your character, but I need you to demonstrate that you can follow basic instructions.
vampire_chic14, you are accepted.
Kay422, the age seems a bit young. While 29 is on the older side for average age of roleplay characters, I think bumping it up by just a few years would be more realistic for an experienced medical examiner, especially if she is the head of the morgue (which you don't specify, but if that's what you were thinking. . .). If you do that, you'll be acceepted. (Or you can PM me to discuss this further if you really want her to be 29, because otherwise she looks like a great character).
Gabriel_Whist, you are accepted.
HappyHermit, you are accepted.
Thank you everyone for your submissions. Don't take any constructive criticism or requests for revision personally. As the GM of a roleplay, I have the right to request changes, or to decline character submissions, but I really do want everyone to be able to participate - I also want everyone to be able to follow the simple guidelines. You can create the plot and subplots and PM each other or discuss it in the open in this forum, but please keep to the guidelines I've established, both in the official 'rules' and in the 'important note' for character sheets.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know ASAP. Also, if you feel you may want to drop this roleplay because of real life issues, or because of an extended absence, you won't have to drop out - talk to me about it, and we can work out a way that that doesn't have to happen.
