It was a warm summer morning. Tama was excited. Today the king might choose her to be one of his bodyguards. She ate some bread and got dressed. Then she put her armor on. When she left her hut she noticed a shadowy guy walking along the path. "Halt! I need to check you." Tama said. The man looked around. He put his hood down. "So Tama Vlimari has sought refuge in Masili. You have a large bounty on your head in Oresa." The man said. Then Tama answered: "I came here for a new life. I seek to be the kings bodyguard. You must be one of those assassins the king told the people about. I will take you to the border. You are not welcome here." "You? Will take me to the border? I would rather kill you!" The man said. Without hesitating Tama took out her hammer and bashed him in the stomach. The man screamed in pain and coughed blood. "Please spare me. I will leave." The assassin said. Then Tama kicked him and said: "It is too late. I do not believe you." "Wait! I thought you wanted to seek a new life. You are just going to be seen as another murderer." The man said. Then Tama answered: "No. You are no innocent person. You are an assassin, an enemy of Masili. Goodbye." Then she smashed the assassins head on the path with the hammer. People from the village applauded. "She killed an Oresian assassin. She should be in the army of Masili."

John Vawdrey had been summoned by the King of Oresa, so he donned his cloak and made his way to the front gates of the castle. Of course he had the ability to sneak in the castle without the guards noticing, but that would be very rude and thus he approached the gates and spoke to the guard making sure his face was hidden as he only revealed it to certain trusted clients like the King, "Hi, it's me, the silent doom, the King has requested my presence, and I would like to be taken to him."
The guard then spoke, "How do I know that you're who you say you are?" and when he finished John quickly and silently sidestepped the guard and placed his Misericorde through the gaps of the armour to his neck and whispered in his ear, "Is this proof enough, I could have killed you easily, yet I let you live. I will task you again, will you take me to see the King?"
The guard then replied, "OK I believe you, now I will take you to the King if you would take your dagger from my neck."
"Good," John answered as he withdrew his blade from the Guards neck, "Now please lead me to the king."
The guard nodded as he signaled for the gates to be opened and walked through it while another guard who was on a break went to fill his position. He lead him through into the main keep and straight to the throne room. He went through with John next to him and told the King, "Your Majesty, your guest, the silent doom is here."

Viktor Anton looked at the note in his hand. Apparently the King wanted him in the throne room. He knew full well that he was announcing body guards, and he could very well end up being one of them. Or he was just going to be there to represent the Woodland nomads, despite the unofficial air that would throw out. There were several ways he could go about it, the quickest one being he could just walk in without informing any guards, although that would very well get him killed. So he casually walked up to a side gate, having every appearance of looking like he was supposed to be there, and gave a friendly nod to the guard. Who nodded back before coming to his senses and blocking his path. It was worth a shot, so many times when you acted and looked like you were supposed to be there, people assumed you were. Nearly had worked too, but he gave the guard a friendly smirk as he just got a scowl in return. The guard wasn't very amused sounding when he talked, so Anton didn't push his luck yet. "Alright son, what are you doing trying to walk in to the palace?"

Anton replied, deliberately being upbeat, which seemed to annoy people more then always being dour or acting as expected. "Well, got this letter from the King and seems he wants to have me in the throne room as soon as possible. Here is the letter, and now I would like walked in, I don't travel about palaces very often."

The guard looked the letter over, looked at some notices he had, and called one of his subordinates to have him walked in. Apparently he was expected here as well. Anton collected his letter as he walked by, following the guard as he went, eventually reaching the throne room. A few others were there already, but they didn't really attract his interest yet. For all he could of cared, they were just more palace guards at the moment, or a Royal thief assassin person by the looks of the one. The Guard announced him, which he would of preferred to do himself but didn't complain about. "Your Majesty, the Marksmen Viktor Anton has arrived."

It was another warm summer morning is Masili and like usual Orion had already been up for hours. Outside in the garden he was training a squire of his who had been living at his manor for two years now. Throughout the manor maids and servants scurried about as they carried on with their tasks. All was peaceful on the manor; even the animals weren’t making their usual amount of noise. “Remember to keep your shield up.” He said to his squire. Reaching down to help his now fallen squire up from the ground he noticed how one of his maids was approaching them.

“Sir Orion! Sir Orion!” She shouted as she waved at his to gain his attention. “Sir Orion you need to get going. You’ll be late if you stay any longer.” Coming to a halt several feet away from the two her breathing was stressed.

Patting his squire on the back he looked down and smiled upon him. “Well my young squire. I guess this it goodbye for now.” He said sorrowfully.

Looking up his squire returned the smile. “I understand Sir. Just make sure you don’t die so you can come back to training me, and make sure the King is safe.” He said with great empathy. Knowing his was about to lose his mentor but at least he understood why.

“I will do my best.” He said with a sigh. Turning to his maid he smiled at her briefly then said. “Please inform the house that I have left and that I hope to see them all again once this is all settled.” Walking passed the maid he made his way towards his manor’s gates. At this early time they were open, free for all to enter who had business. Walking through the gates he began a slow, but steady walk down the streets.
Socrates once said........ To fear death, my friends, is only to think ourselves wise, without being wise: for it is to think that we know what we do not know. For anything that men can tell, death may be the greatest good that can happen to them: but they fear it as if they knew quite well that it was the greatest of evils. And what is this but that shameful ignorance of thinking that we know what we do not know?

Jaedan smiled coldly. Today was the day, the King was gathering together for new bodyguards, he would know the face of his enemy. He was standing on a thin, wooden rafter in the top of the King's council chamber, where the King now sat, awaiting the arrival of his possible bodyguards. Jaedan had already unsheathed three daggers, and a blow-gun, the blow gun was situated in between his teeth, and the daggers in his fingers. He carried his bow on his back, and countless other weapons and mechanisms in his various hidden pockets. He smiled and juggled the daggers absent-mindedly. He wasn't afraid of one falling, he was actually meant to drop one right next to the King whenever he saw the faces of the possible new bodyguards.

He smiled as he saw the King impatiently tap his fingers against the golden throne's right arm.OK, so the King is left-handed... He thought, noting the King tapping the throne's arm with his right hand, and holding his cheek in his left hand, meaning his left hand was stronger than the right, thus, he was left-handed. He smiled and moved silently but swiftly on the rafter, so that he was directly over the King. He put two of his three daggers in his belt loops, underneath his black cloak. His face was concealed by the hood, so in no way could he be identified. The council chamber was empty except for the King and two loyal-yet-inexperienced guards, not official bodyguards, but guards, nonetheless, a possible threat if he had to fight them directly in an official confrontation...He was nothing but a shadow from where he was crouched in the darkest parts of the rafters, he couldn't even be seen, the dagger was made of a charcoal-black material, probably Obsidian, meaning nothing of him could be seen. He was darkness...

Tama headed to King Medrulis small castle with the red chuck of flesh which used to be an Oresian assassin. She entered the castle and theking greeted her: "I got wind about your defense of Masili. I was going to pick you anyways to become one of my bodyguards. So that bloody chunk must be the assassin. Although what you did to him seems quite disturbing, it was the right thing to do to an enemy of us." Tama bowed to the king: "I will serve you with all my loyalty." "I also heard you are wanted by Oresa for muliple murders. I understand your choice to come to Masili and find a way to let off your anger. You are safe here and at least I doubt you would kill civilians." "I regret my murder of the innocent and will serve you to protect you from those who are as I used to be." Tama said and got back up. Then the king said: "There are others whom I will elect. You may take a seat. My younger brother will bring you tea."
Tama remembered about the stories her father telled about when the Vlimari family was royal until Oresa annexed their land. "Vlimari. Sounds familiar. You must be the granddaughter of Kolos Vlimari. Now his land is part of the Oresian borderlands. Too bad. My grandfather was allied with him, just we couldnt help since our land was poor at that time. The Oresian county and the Mari homeland merged because the former king thought Mari was too small and weak." The king said. "I will help you regain that land and grant you position of duchess since I am afraid of Mari being too weak to survive on its own. You will have my protection." Tama now saw why the king was known for his goodness and was thankful.

Jaedan's smile kept strong when he saw and heard the conversations going on, the king and that man, the second man, and a woman...Hmmm, I may regret killing her... He smiled at that thought and then when he didn't see anyone else, he dropped the dagger. The dagger flew true, embedding itself in the wood table, just an inch from the King's hand. Jaedan smile and ran across the rafter, his cloak making a slight swishing sound as he did. He found his exit, just as it was his entrance. A high window, which had been smashed in years ago. He rushed through it and dashed over the roof of the small castle, eventually arriving at the drawbridge, which was already raising. He jumped on the top, and made a daring leap from the top of the drawbridge to the ground across of it. "Damn!! My leg!!" He yelled, and kept running, now slightly limping, because his right leg had broken in the jump. He ran silently in the shadows, not being seen again.

Jaedan arrived at his safe-house and enterred, quickly stripping and putting on cloth pants and shirt, and leather boots. He hid his armor and cloak, and his weapon, and hung his bow up on his wall again. He limped over to his small, wooden dining table. "Urgh..." He grunted as he carefully inspected his leg. "It's...Urgh, it's just dislocated at the kn--URGH!!" He started, but was interrupted by a sudden shock of pain as he twisted his knee, so that it fell back into place. "Damn..." He whispered, limping to his bed, he lay down and contemplated what he saw. Maybe there's a way I can avoid killing that girl...Let's hope she isn't too determined.... He thought. He remembered the note he had tied around the hilt of the dagger he had dropped, it read this:

King Medrulis,

I am quite sad to be the person to inform you, not only are you marked for death, you are being hunted by our best assasin, you cannot survive this, I suggest you just forfeit the game of life now, because it isn't doing you any favors. Now, I hope you aren't to determined to hire a full cast of bodyguards, because one of them will not be so loyal, no matter what he or she acts like.

Sincerely, Your Doom.

"Now...To get ready for my meeting with the King." He said with a smile, getting into his official armor given to him by the King, the King referred to The Jae as a friend, and wouldn't expect him to be the assasin. He smiled and got his bow, and then daggers, and donned a small pouch which carried darts, and throwing knives. He attached his quiver to his back, and sheathed his short-sword on his left, and his long-sword on his right hip. He smiled and walked out of the door. His limp was gone, and now he just seemed to be him having more weight on his right, which, he did. His long-sword was on his right, and it was longer and a bit heavier than his short-sword. He was armed to the teeth, and the guards would easily recognize Jaedan's face, as The Jae, a friend of the King. He smiled as he approached the drawbridge, which was still raised. "Hello! Lower the drawbridge, The Jae is here for a meeting with the King!" He yelled, and then he heard mechanisms clink and then a loud boom could be heard as the drawbridge hit the ground. Jaedan walked across it. He nodded to the guards as he walked by them, one nodded back.

Jaedan approached the council chamber, only to see what he expected, an overly surprised King, attempting to take out the dagger that was embedded deep in the wood. He smiled and walked over. "Allow me, Medrulis, Sire." He said, pulling out the dagger with one swift movement. He set it down on the table and read the note. "I think you should see this, Sire..." He said, his face showing confusion, anger. The King smiled at him and took the note, reading it then gasping. "No...Impossible...How would they know my choice for bodyguards..." He mumbled, patting Jaedan's shoulder wearily. "The Jae, I think you should know, I will definetely be choosing you for a bodyguard, you are a trusted friend, and I hope to see you and Tama here resolve this matter." He said with another smile, handing Jaedan the dagger. "Here, use it, I know you can." He said, a laugh coming from his lips as he did. Jaedan took it and put it on one of his belt-loops. "Thank you, Sire." "No, thank you, The Jae, go take a seat next to Tama and inform her of this. Oh, and The Jae, know that you will get what was promised to you, when this is all over." Jaedan nodded and sat next to her, quickly informing her of the situation, no sign of treachery ever arose on his face, he seemed like a perfectly loyal bodyguard and servant to the King.

As he drew closer to the castle he stopped in shock to see that a dead corpse was being removed from the streets. “What happened here?” He said in a raise voice to a man nearby.

“A… a woman kill this man. It appears he was an Oresian Assassin, and not a good one considering that the woman killed him with such ease.” The young guard said back.

Staring down at the body he was glad to see that the Oresian had been killed, but couldn’t help but feel sickened to see how he was killed. There was a large chunk of his flesh missing. “It’s not custom for Masilians to take the flesh of a fallen foe. Who exactly was this woman and why was she allowed to leave?” He asked the guard.

“Umm… well she wasn’t here when we got here. The few who saw what happened said they saw her leaving in the direction of the Castle. They say she is pretty young looking and that she wore iron armor over a dress and that she carried a hammer.” He said with concern. He had stammered twice already and this Knight asking his questions was just making him more nervous.

Nodding his head Orion said nothing more and continued on his way, looking back only for a second to see the fallen assassin once more. Was the killing of that assassin really justifiable when the killing of him crossed that imaginary line people drew on things? He felt at conflict within himself over the matter for he understood why the assassin needed to die, but for the person who killed him was it really acceptable for her to take a piece of his flesh off him and then continue on her way as if nothing happened. Not sure what to think over this matter he tried his best to shrug it off.

Finally reaching the castle gates Orion greeted the guards and was promptly taken up to see the king like the other candidates. Being escorted to the Kings council chamber he was left by the guard to enter on his own. Odd he thought as the guard left. Staring at the door his face went blank and he turned slightly paler than usual. Beginning to rub his left shoulder he stared at the heavy door. He knew it was improper to just open only one and walk in, but he didn’t want to hurt himself further. “Damn shoulder.” He exclaimed as he drabbed both of the door handles and pulled the doors open.

Entering the room he carried with his a large smile as his shoulder didn’t give him any trouble. “Good day my King!” Orion exclaimed. Approaching the Kings seat he stopped before the steps up to it and knelt. “Orion Vryce at your service.” He said as he raised his head.

With a smile the King nodded at Orion’s display. “I’ve been waiting for you Orion Vryce. I hear you are a grand Knight, and was told that I would be a fool not to trust you with my life. Tell me… is that true?” He King asked.

Still knelt before the King he smirked. “I wouldn’t call you a fool for noting wanting for a bodyguard, even though it would be a mistake. I’ve been a Knight since seventeen and I have witnessed more than my fair share of combat.” He said in reply.

Singling for him to rise from his kneel the King stood up and walked down to him. “I know all about your past, and all the deeds you have done. You are a most deserving candidate to be picked as one of my guards… but I’m worried about that shoulder of yours.” He said. He wanted only the well able for guards and wasn’t interested in an injured Knight.

Standing there shocked that the King knew about his shoulder he didn’t know what to do. “I… I…” he stammered faintly. “I understand why you would be. You probably want the younger and energetic people out there to protect you… but who will you have protecting them?” He said confidently.

With a smile the King patted him on his good shoulder. “And that’s exactly why I sent for you. I understand the youths desire to protect their King but I need experience as well as skill. You just happen to have both of these with some to spare. Please feel free to take a seat with the others here while I finish seeing the rest who wish to protect me. I can have a servant bring you a drink if you wish.” He said to him as he stretched his arm out to point to the plentiful amount of seats.

Turning around he began to walk off over to a lone chair, saying. “A pint of ale would be nice.”

A young lady was sitting in a small bar that bordered the two kingdoms. She had been traveling for a long time in search of a 'decent' fight as she calls it but she had only been hearing of the kingdoms. She reach out for her cup and lift it to her lips but stop when two huge, drunk and bulky men started yelling.

"King Medruli is kind and gives everyone a chance for a new life!"

"That's a bunch of bull! The King of Oresa is what is right for the people! He maintains order!"

The whole bar started to become a violent rally. The young lady smiled slightly and finish her sake and put it down on the table. "Both kingdoms suck as of right now." she said in her soft, gentle voice. The men in the bar quiet and looked over at her. She had a sort of mask on her face, hiding all but her liquid-blue eyes. How about you stay out of this you bit-" The young lady sent a punch to the man's face and he flew back onto a wooden table and broke it on impact and laid there, unconscious.

The lady digged in her pocket and place some currency on the table and made her way towards the exit. The men stared at her and yelled. "Who do you think you are?!" The young lady smiled with her eyes. "The name is....Keniko and I can take all of you down without even drawing my weapons." The men yelled and charged at her. After less than a minute, 50+ men were unconscious on the floor of the bar and Keniko approach her black stallion, mount it and rode onward along the border of the kingdoms. "I wonder...which kingdom would provide me with a decent fight?" she asked out loud.

Anton watched the antics and generally subdued nature of the others as they humbly reported and pledged their service to the King. It was almost like they were ready to attend the poor mans funeral, rather then protect him from attending himself in a casket. The most recent man appeared to have shoulder issues, if anything the King had mentioned were true. Granted, he didn't care as long as the Knight could do his job and do it well. Guess it was his turn, time to shake things up a bit. Considering he didn't bow to any man except his tribe's elder, this would prove interesting. It wasn't he didn't have any respect for the Kings role, it was his upbringing. Nothing ventured, nothing gained though, so he calmly stood and walked to where the others had stood, inclining his head before launching into his own chatter. "Good Day King Medruli, you summoned and I came as requested. How goes it for you?"

Before the King could speak, the one Guard muttered something and stepped towards Anton, a severe look on annoyance and near surprise on his face. "I understand that you are a barbarian woodsman of the wilds, but that is no excuse. You kneel to the King, especially when addressing him." It was that snotty tone that he picked up as well as the annoyed look that made Anton take a disliking to the fellow.

Anton remained pleasant and calm, but his voice had a slight edge to it that cut deep into the Guard's will, or so he hoped at any rate. "My apologies Guardsmen, but I do not think it is respectful to talk when someone else was ready to speak, let alone the good King. But I do not freely give respect, although from what I heard of the King and seen I already have some respect for his position, the hardships that it has, and what he has done to avoid becoming a ruthless tyrannical fiend. I only kneel to my Elders, no offense, but it is my culture, which I will not give up on so freely."

This irked the Guard it seems, and the King also was letting this go on to see how Anton would handle himself. He was an outsider in his own right, even though he had served the Kingdom for roughly six years. He spoke with an equally subtle edge, a battle of words it seemed had arisen. "Then you cannot possibly be loyal to this Kingdom, if you would not even respect its basest rules." He had a smug look, as if it would smack down whatever else Anton had to say, but all it did was anger him internally, although he kept his cool exterior.

The guard wanted to play games like that, then he would most certainly retaliate. He took a stab at his competence and trustworthiness. "I wouldn't be so hasty in accusing me of being a traitor, good Guardsmen. It would serve you well to note that I have sworn an oath to defend this kingdom in any ways I can, and have done so for roughly six years now. I have, in my opinion, proven that I am not eager to backstab this kingdom, or its King, and if I had plans to do something drastic, I would of attempted to do so already. It makes one wonder, if the King can trust his own palace Guards, if they are as hasty and ill informed as you give the illusion to be. I only hope that you are nothing more then a bad example, perhaps you have had a bad day. My apologies King, continue, but I do not like being called a traitor without valid proof, nor insulted in an equally uninformed manner."

King Medruli had watched the brief, and heated, debate between the Guard who had stepped forward, with unspoken permission, to test the Marksmen. He spoke kindly, as his reputation would of had a man believe, and the Guard stepped back, irked but not going to cut the King off. "Marksmen Anton, your stand offish nature and general outlook for yourself alone is a tad worrisome. Also the way you hold yourself could convey laziness at times. However, your service to this kingdom as well as proving that you are in fact willing to stand with a cause, and not back down, no matter the odds, and proves that you are far from lazy, makes the decision clear to me. You would be a good person to have as a Guard, that quiet, but proud, honor and hidden inner strength outweighs the normally roguish exterior. Your Nomadic tribes differ in belief, and I respect that. So I would not ask you to break your beliefs and customs for something like kneeling. You are loyal, and you already spoke in ways that show you are respectful, so please take a seat while I see whom else wishes to protect me."

Anton nodded, giving a curt bow to the King, before returning to a seat that was relatively close to where he had been standing, mainly because he wanted to sit and it didn't bother him where he did so. He had talked down the guard, and the King had known what some people would consider flaws, others potential pluses. Frankly, he would just go with the situation, it had gotten incredibly interesting, and a dash of amusement finished the mixture.

Tyr walked casually down the road heading for the castle, a cheery expression marking his face. His torso was hidden underneath his red cloak, a folded up piece of paper in one hand, the other empty. The paper was blank, though it was folded to resemble an important notice from an important person, namely the king.

Approaching the castle gates, Tyr nodded to one of the guards. "Mornin', sir."

The guard quickly moved to block the entrance, annoyed. "Oy, who do you think you are? You can't just enter the bloody castle whenever ya get the itchin' to."

"No, no, no, I'm good," Tyr reassured him, holding his hands up at chest height in a defensive position. Letting his empty hand return to the shelter of the cloak, he briefly held the paper higher to indicate it. "I'm here to see the king about the guard position."

"Oh. Well, all right then. Carry on." The guard stepped aside, motioning with his head for him to enter.

Tyr was a little surprised, but he didn't show it. "Thank you." He nodded his appreciation, stepping through the gates and heading towards the double doors.

"Whoa, now, hold up just a sec." The other guard stationed at the gate called, stepping into the entrance and staring the thief down.

'Don't look back, don't look back, do--'

"Oy, we need to talk to you for a second!"

'Oh no.' Turning around, he acted surprised. "Oh, me? Sorry. Yes, what can I do for you?"

"Would you kindly show us that letter you received?" The guard held his hand out expectantly, suspiciously watching Tyr.

"Erm...well, sir, if the king had wanted you to read it, I think that he would have sent you one."

"Don't make us resort to force, good sir."

Suppressing a sigh, Tyr reached back out of his cloak and tentatively gave the guard the paper. After unfolding it, he stared at Tyr as if he was unbelievably stupid, passing the paper to the other stationed guard. "Take him to the king--I'm sure he would love to see this." Two guards, one of which was the one Tyr had fooled, roughly grabbed the thief's arms and half-dragged him into the castle.

--

Opening the door, they carried the Dragoo boy into the king's presence, dropping him where the guard candidates would introduce themselves, or more commonly, where one would nearly always address the king. As the guards backed away, Tyr knelt down, pressing his forehead to the cold ground. "My liege, please have mercy on me. I only wish to--"

"He tried to sneak in with this!" The guard flourished the blank piece of paper as if it were a joke, smugly making sure the king saw it.

"It fooled you..." Tyr muttered, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. "But that's aside from the point. I wish to--"

"If I'm right, he's nothing but a bloody thief! Look at the way he dresses, look at the way he holds himself! A good for nothing thief, that's what he is! Let him free and he--"

"Sir," The king interrupted, his gaze calm and understanding, "Let him speak." Turning his attention to the boy kneeling in front of him, he asked, "What is your name, son?"

Raising his head, a bit surprised, he stuttered, "Uh--Tyr, sir--er--my king. Tyr Dragoo."

"Is it true that you are a thief, Tyr?"

Tyr bit his lip, lowering his eyes to the floor. "I am, sir. But I would like to give back to the world, you in particular. If I can help defend you, I would be helping defend the common people. It's the least I could do."

The king looked thoughtful for a while, Tyr nervously shifting his position, unsure if it was the proper thing to do. After a few minutes, His Majesty smiled. "Guards, you may leave this poor boy alone now. He meant no harm." Tyr sighed in relief, lowering his head in embarrassment afterward, though a small smile remained on his face. "However, he is not to be alone until I say. One of my personal guards chosen here must watch over him until I have properly earned his trust."

Tyr raised his head, his eyes wide. "W-what??" Clearing his throat, he resumed staring at the ground, hot with embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry, Your Highness. As you wish."

"That is, of course," The king continued, "If they will allow it."

Erithor got to the castle and check all of his gear seeing if every thing is as it should be. After some time talking with the gaurds they let him in to the castle and he walked around looking for the king.

Nothing he could do much till he finds the king. The king would mainly be in the throne room area. But he didn't know where it was. He didn't want to ask any one for help, because of his pride. So he just walks around till he finds the king

Tama look to Jaedan and said: "I hate Oresians because they took my familys land, killed my family and made me an outlaw. Someday I will take my land back and claim the position of duchess. I hope you can help me like the king is willing to." Tama held her heavy hammer between her legs. "With this hammer I will fight for Mari and Masili. I was outlawed by Oresa because I killed those who tread on me and my honor."

The King of Oresa spoke, "okay guard you may leave and go back to your post."
The guard then left his post leaving the John alone with the King, them trusting each other so much that the King can be alone with him and that John can reveal his face. When he lowered his hood the King spoke yet again, "Well silent Doom, I need you for a special assignment, one which only you have the skills to complete, my most trusted assassin."
"Your majesty, you know that I will accept any assignment that you give me and accept whatever payment that you see fit." John replied politely.
"Good, now I have a rather unique plan, you will not kill king Medruli, but rather kill in cold blood the few public enemies in his Kingdom that he has. And on the second or third one pretend to have a struggle with the victim and leave this grasped in his cold dead hands." the King speaked as he threw John a crest of King Medruli which he caught.
Then the king resumed speaking, " Make sure that you kill everyone in the same way and that you are seen fleeing the scene as a black figure, heading towards King Medruli's castle, but then lose them and head back wherever you want to go."
John they bowed as he said, "Of course your majesty, your will is my command." and then he quickly left the castle with his hood up back to his abode to prepare for his assignment.

Orion sat casually in his chair gazing around the room and taking notice of who was stay and who was leaving. He noticed that there were two others. A female seemed to be staying and a male that was here before him was now going up to the King. “Did I skip him?” He thought to himself. Feeling a moment of brief guilt he easily forgot about it as he noticed the arrival of his ale. Licking his lips he picked up the ale and took a few gulps. “Aw!” he said.

Turning his attention back to the male he saw him briefly talking to a guard and the King. “Why would a guard? Strange” He thought to himself. But before he had time to think about it the man was already done and was now taking a seat. Pushing up from the chair he was about to stand when the boots flung open and two guards were dragging in a young male.

Rising fully to his feet he walked closer towards the King to see the situation unfold. He was surprised to learn that the young boy was a thief and that he tried to sneak in with a blank piece of paper. “Gods… the King really does need bodyguards, it won’t be long before a good assassin gets him. Unless…” He thought to himself before snapping back to reality to see that the King was letting the boy explain himself.

Watching in wait he wondered what the King wanted to do with the boy. Looking at the boy himself he saw a chance to redeem a soul and found it hard to think of a punishment. When the King revealed his sentence he was dumbfounded. “The boy is going to be stuck with one of us!” He thought loudly. Excitement filled him as he took a few steps forward. With a halfhearted smile he walked up next to the boy and nodded at him. “I’ll take him under my care my King. I’m sure I could lead him down the path of redemption, instill the right morals into him, and teach him manners” He said with a chuckle.

Looking at Orion with a grin the King’s brow curved with interest. Thinking over the situation some the King nodded with amusement. “I think that’s a grand idea! A good Knight like you could really do this young boy some good. Take him as your new squire.” He said. Laughing with joy the King clapped his hands.

Looking down at the boy a loose smile came across his face. Excited, confused, and glad he bent down. Extending his right hand to the boy he waited for him to accept him as his guard. “Take my hand boy.” He said happily.

Erithor reached the room where every one is and the king. He looks around and sees some people there and walks up to an older looking knight and says "Hello, my name is Erithor Wryan, and I'm here to be one of the kings bodygaurds. Do you know if he's still taking people to fight for him?"

Ken didn't want to be here, but he had to. He just wanted to be home and not fighting for his life.

A knock sounded at the door and Gareth looked up from the report he had been studying. The new recruits were still lacking in their formation speed. "Need more drills," he thought, making a note on the paper and said, "enter!" The door opened and his second-in-command and dear friend, Hayden, walked in smiling broadly.

"Commander! the king requests your presence!" Hayden said offering an envelop sealed with the royal crest.

"The King?" Gareth asked, taking the letter, "why does the king need me? His majesty's meeting with the commanders is not until next week and the process reports have already been submitted."

"Why else," said Hayden still smiling broadly, "than to appoint you as one of his Royal Guard! Now go, lets not keep the King waiting. I'll finish up looking at the reports and give you a summary later."

Gareth smiled at his old friend, "thank you," and strode out his studying, taking his cloak with him. The study was positioned in one of the many wings of the castle and Gareth quickly marched to the audition room, nodding at the guards at the door and walked in after giving his dagger and only weapon to one of the guards. There was already a group of assorted people sitting on the many chairs in the room. Gareth thought he recognized two of the men. "Ah yes, Sir Vryce" thought Gareth. He had meet him on a few royal occasions and was not sure if the older man remembers him. Gareth did not recall the younger man's name but he had attended the funeral for the man's brothers with his father a few years back. Gareth approached the king and knelt before him, "Sire, you have need of me?"

"Ah young Lingard," said the king, "Have we called you away from something important? No? Good, as you know the kingdom of Oresa has long viewed us as a possible prey, and their king has recently started hiring assassins. We do not wish to see harm come to our land, so we too have started recruiting capable and skilled people. The Lingard family has always supplied the kingdom with peerless warriors, and you are one of them. To become a commander at your age speaks in testimony of that. Now Gareth Lingard will you become one of my royal guards or will you refuse as you had for our offer of knighthood?"

"My lord, you praise me too much." said Gareth as he remain knelt in front of the king, he had thought long and hard on the way here and said, "I will be honoured to become a member of your Royal Guards."

"Wonderful, come, rise and sit," the king said, "The people gathered here are the other members of the Guard. Do your best in working with them."

Gareth bowed his head again then went to sit beside Sir Vryce, "Sir Vryce, it's good to see you here. With you as part of the guard, the king can not possibly come into harm."

Anton looked as the new guy came in, recognizing him as Commander Lingard. He had ran into enough soldiers in bars to know roughly how the Lingard lineage went and that they were well respected warriors. Living heroes and legends made up part of this royal Guard it seemed, the other half a rag tag group of thieves and, in his case, Nomadic marksman. That Sir Vryce, as Lingard called him, had just taken the thief boy as a squire, or was in the process of it. Definitely a rag tag group of legends and less well known rogues and others that could be considered undesirable. The girl knight, or was it knightess?, had what sounded like an interesting story, so he shifted so she could hear him without him yelling over everyone. "Excuse me, but you seem like you have a good story, all things considered, including what King Medruli said. Duchess in Waiting, or something like that."

It was more friendly tone, just trying to pass the time until something interesting happened rather then prying for gossip to sell. In all honesty, he had always entertained the thought of breaking into the ring of Nobility for the fun of it, but stuck with doing what he did best, using his bow and other skills to get by. Besides, it always appeared that the Nobles always had someone trying to kill them for little or no thanks, usually being blamed for things that they could not control.

"Just call me Tama. Some people call me Lady Vlimari, hate it and some call me Sir Vlimari since I am a knight. In Oresa I was know as Miss Murder. But I am an outlaw in Oresa. First they dishonor my family. Then they killed my mother, father and brother. And they wonder why half of Kumros was murdered." Tama said. "You want to come with me later to the borderlands to hunt some Oresians?" Tama smiled though one could clearly see the bloodlust against Oresians in her eyes.

"Well Tama, you can call me Viktor, or Anton if you want. Miss Murder then? Glad your not against us, that's for sure. And I wouldn't have a problem hunting Oresians. Its what I did for the past six years or so, as part of a band of mercenaries, closest word for us, that intercepted as many assassins as possible. We did alright, all things considered, until we "accidentally" crossed the borders and got ambushed by a company of footmen." The emphasis and sarcasm around accidentally was obvious that they had been lured over and jumped, or the company crossed over and killed them. This had never sat well with Anton, and made it a main reason he never would work with Oresians.

"We killed a good number of them, although they had numbers and the advantage of being rested. We scattered, most died, and since we were technically not part of the King's army, there was no foul, although there was plenty of harm. But that's beside the point. I'd be happy to tag along. So, on to a slightly more serious manner, what do you make of the Guards that have been chosen so far?" He had his own ideas, but they didn't have quite the same outlook as others, and for good reason. The blood lust was telling, but it wasn't a problem, it meant the enemy would be much more worried about the armored charging warrior then the soft flutter as he prepared to loose arrows in their direction.
