An ancient legend speaks of a God and his 12 disciples whom he specifically chose to guard the gateway to the heavens. From his several acquaintances in the heavens, his animals on earth, and the humans of the mortal realm, he selected only the most noble and deserving. The ram for his courage, the bull for his strength, the crab for his nurturing soul, the lion for his boldness, the scorpion for his power, the horse for his lively spirit, the goat for his enduring character, and the fish for his insight. After choosing these animals, a few other characters, he noticed, stood out - he had to make them part of his council. The warrior twins, for their sprightly wit, were made to leave the earthen realm and join this "pantheon". The heavenly water bearer, servant to the gods, was chosen when he spoke up while overhearing a meeting. The issue was the Black Plague, and the water bearer suggested the Age of Enlightenment to teach the mortals about science. For his humanitarianism and sharp intellect, God had to put him on the council. And lastly, to finish the council, God chose his right-hand woman: the earth goddess, who was responsible for watching over the humans of the mortal realm and judging their souls using her scales, which she weighed the mortals' sins against a feather with. The council was complete.
For the disciples, he created a large, round table, formulating a ring which they would watch over the earth from. Their other duty aside from monitoring the earth was to guard the gateway to the heavens, as united, these twelve spirits have the ability to open that gateway, allowing the realm of heavens to be accessed from the mortal realm. And guard the gateway they did...
As long as the heavens remained closed off from the mortals, then the power of the gods would never fall into the wrong hands, and chaos would never ensue.
But that was a long time ago.Yay long introductions! So basically what this is is it's kind of a "westernized" version of Fruits Basket, but different. There will be roles for the 12 signs of the (western) zodiac, whom were all at one point just normal teenagers... until they started developing magical powers! A mysterious figure known only as
The Elder has tracked down and gotten in touch with these teenagers via letters, inviting them to attend his "Special Academy for the Gifted" located within rural Japan. Though it says it is an academy, it's really more of a
dojo, with special dorming areas built in for each of the zodiac kids.
This dojo, officially named The Zodi Academy is complete with a kitchen, a meditation room, a spa, training grounds, a nearby beach (and a couple miles off the coast, a
mystical deserted island), a mountain temple in the mountains to the northeast, and four dorming areas, split by element: Fire, Water, Earth and Wind. The Fire dorms to the south are decorated with several torches, dragon statues, and themed red. The Water dorms to the west are themed blue and landscaped with several indoor rivers, waterfalls and fountains. The Earth dorms to the north are located around the temple gardens, allowing lots of vegetation to grow outside (AND inside!); this wing is themed green and decorated with mirrored floors and cobblestone walls. The earth signs should take note that the Earth dorms can get very chilly without warning.. But that shouldn't be too much of a bother to them. The Wind dorms to the east reside at the top of the dojo's tower, themed white and decorated with luscious, silk curtains; this wing is painted with several murals on the walls and ceilings depicting clouds and the sky. The openness of this wing allows wind to flow freely through its halls, causing a noticeable breeze to be perpetually present.
Little do the zodiac know that they are about to get tangled up in a plot more huge and twisted than they could have ever possibly imagined..!
ROLES TO BE CAST:CURRENTLY ALL ROLES FOR THE ZODI ACADEMY ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!! Thank you ^_^So there
are a couple rules here. 1) You can give your sign whatever characteristics/name you want. But you
must - to a degree - stick to that sign's personality and the traits that go with it. Other than that, full character customization & background is up to you.
And 2) The zodiac DOES have powers, but not in a superhero sense. Make it more of a toned down, subtle kind of power. For example, you can have pyrokinesis or telekinesis or super fighting skills, but you're not going to be able to cause a volcano to erupt without expecting to go unconscious for a good couple of hours, or lift and hurl a truck using your mind without getting a massive headache. Keep the powers fair, and don't go overboard with them.
Also, the power SHOULD be in some way related to the zodiac sign, be it from their element, mythology, whatever.
Okay, wow I didn't realize how long of a post this had become. Since this is a lot to read, I'm going to write up a simple CS and put it in another post, and post my CS with it.
