Claire awoke to the sound of her favorite song, White Horse by Taylor Swift, blaring on the iPod dock next to her head. She slammed her fist angrily onto it, and it stopped playing immediately. Why couldn't school start later in the day? She sat up, throwing her green duvet off her small body. She swung her feet down, out of her bed, and stuffed them into her white slippers, and smiled, noticing the blue polka dots on the slippers matched the blue plaid on her jacket. She walked across her room to her closet, and grabbed the first things her fingers felt. She walked to the bathroom, her eyes still closed tightly. She felt her way around the corner, and walked straight to the shower. She pulled off her blue and white plaid jacket, black lacy tank top, and black and blue striped pajama pants, after slipping off her slippers. She climbed nimbly into the shower, undo-ing her curly hair from the messy bun she had put it in the night before. She took a steamy shower, waking up by the end from the smell of her citrus shampoo. She reached around the door, and grabbed two perfectly white lumps sitting on the edge of the bath. She wrapped one tightly around her slender body, a white plush robe, and the other around her curly black hair, a shaggy white towel. Claire stepped out of the shower, and walked around the wall to the mirror. She pulled her hair out of the towel, and blow-dried it quickly. She smiled, amazed at how fast it dried. She flicked around her thick hair, and grinned even bigger. She reached over, and grabbed the outfit she had found. Her face crinkled in disgust. She threw the ugly yellow sundress aside. She hated wearing dresses to school, or at all. She quickly made her way back to the closet, and found a much better outfit. She slipped it on, and looked down at her bare feet, resting on the ground beneath her skinny jeans. She grabbed a pair of socks, black ones with bright pink argyle on them, and pulled them onto her feet, squealing as she almost fell over. She pushed her feet into light brown ugg boots, and looked at herself in the mirror. A gorgeous aqua fitted long sleeved tee with the Aeropostale logo across the chest in white excentuated the curves on her small body, and the dark wash jeans fit perfectly, and looked amazing tucked into the light brown ugg boots. She reached over, and grabbed a light brown belt, wrapping it around her small waist. She fastened it into place, and looked at her reflection. She frowned. Her hair looked bad. She walked back into the bathroom, and grabbed the giant barrel curling iron. She fixed her bangs, and the pieces that were out of place, so that they fell in perfect ringlets to the small of her back. She grabbed her toothbrush, and started to brush her teeth. Claire pushed her way out of her room, kicking Coco gently back. "You can eat when I finish getting ready," Claire scolded the cat. "Mom! Make me breakfast!" Claire called out. "Eggs, right?" Came a response from downstairs. "Yea, please!" Claire called out. She walked back into her room, and rinsed her mouth. She slid open a drawer, and pulled out a large bag. She reached into it, and grabbed a navy blue compact. She pushed it open, and grabbed the wand out of it. She applied the shimmery silver eye shadow to her pale eyelids, and added a touch of eyeliner towards the edges of her eyes, to get rid of the look of the dark circles. She swiped the mascara wand across her long, thick lashes, and flicked her eyes open and shut a few times. She grabbed a small tube from the bag, and applied her chapstick, then stuck into her tight jean pocket. She walked out of her bathroom, reached into her closet to grab her light brown bag with hearts all over it in white, and walked out of her room. "Yes. Now, Coco," Claire said, letting the cat run free. The brown and white cat bolted down the stairs, and Claire giggled. She walked down the stairs with a bounce, and found a plate of steaming scrambled eggs waiting for her on the kitchen counter. "Eat before you go upstairs again today. I am tired of going into your room to get your breakfast dishes," Her mom said, but Claire saw a twinkle of amusement in her eyes, the same eyes that Claire had just finished making look perfect on her own face. "And don't worry. I finished everything upstairs today. I just have to be at school on time," Claire smiled. "You made your bed?" Her mom asked. "No. But that is not necessary," Claire smiled. She shoveled the last bite of scrambled eggs into her mouth, and spun around. "Bye! I'll be back after school!" Claire called, pulling the front door open. She slammed it shut, and breathed in deeply. She was out, again, off to another day of torture at what the adults in her life called high school.
