Hi there, just came across this and it sounds like it'd be a lot of fun, though I'd thought I'd check on the OOC first.
Would you say a wererat would come under stereotypical high fantasy monsters? Ive seen them a few times in fantasy settings, but they're a bit underrepresented. I have a wererat character that I'd rather like to develop if they'd suit the setting.

This is actually pretty interesting and refreshing roleplay premise. I hope you find much support in your indeavors.

@Vitaminheart Yes wererats are fine, though, if you are the first lycanthrope to apply you would need to cover the basics of lycanthropy as well. Likewise if someone playing a werewolf beat you to the punch you would have to abide by the rules for lycanthropy created by them.
@Zerotolerance Thanks, dude. I am crossing my fingers. This is my third try on this site so perhaps it will be the charm.

I would be fine with that. I have a rough therianthropy mythos in mind anyway, so it shouldn't to be too tough, thanks.

If you would allow, I'd love to write up a gnoll character.
"People should not fear their government.
Governments should fear their people."
"Beneath this mask, there is more than flesh. Behind this mask, there is an idea.
And ideas, Mister Creedy... are bulletproof."

@Vio Gnolls are classic and therefore fine. There are really only two types of monsters I'd refuse, one are the random fellows like weresheep, animate furniture, and carnivorous broccoli. The other are out of genre creatures like tanuki, chupacabra and xenomorphs.
@Vitamin Sounds good and don't assume from my use of the word 'lycanthropy' that it has to be a disease. They need to be shapeshifters, of course, because that's at the core of the mythos, but how you explain the shapeshifting whether curse, disease, inherited gift or animal soul, is your call.

Interresting idea, just a couple questions one is their a cs? as i didn't notice one and two can i make a ghost char?
"Why can't it act in an orderly and lawful manner?" "Because it's a Big Stupid Jellyfish."
"If you want a problem shot, ask a Turian. If you want a problem talked to death, ask an Asari. If you want a new problem, ask a Salarian. If you want a problem fixed, ask a Human."

I must say, I'm very interested in taking part in this. I'd like to do a background for Orcs if you'll allow.

I've always wanted to play as an undead character that had problem keeping their limbs attached, and now I can :D
I'll try to make part of a character tonight, a zombie warlock maybe, I like the look of this rp so far.

An RP that allows me to be the cannon fodder i so normally rip through? This sounds like my tyoe of fun. I'll just have to pull out my "Big Book O' Monsters (3.5)" and find one thats right for me....hmm....

@Wake Awesome job with the slimes, I was hoping someone would take them up. They are an omnipresent adversary in nearly all cliche fantasy. I will add your species description to the introduction when I get a chance.
@Icedfire Ghosts are classic and fine, though you will probably want to be more specific than ghost. Wraith, spectre and banshee are a few possibilities.
@Agelastic Orcs are of course a must. If one of you don't pick them, I will wind up designing the race myself.
@Pathfinder Gargoyles are fine.
@ALL On the topic of CSs. I usually don't use them because I find them constricting. Do a thorough job of describing your character and his/her/its history and you'll be fine. Also this is a sandbox game so being able to do a good character write up without a skeleton guiding you is a good test for whether you can play an RP without a heavy handed plot guiding your character's actions.
