BH tourney: Round 1- Safisan vs. Tormentro ( )

Postby iowa90 on Sat Jan 22, 2011 9:22 pm

Round 1 setting:

This arena is a wavy grassland that has sparse trees scattered about which stand at a minimum of 15 feet and at a max of 30. The time of day is twilight with both the sun and moon out but night is quick approaching. There are many sounds of different animals but visibility is good with the exception of it being nearly dark. There are cracks in the grassland that form 5 feet wide trenches and are about 6 feet deep. These are used by different animals for tunnels and hibernation. The weather is rather chilly at about 32 degrees and 25 degrees wind sheer.

Safisan gets the first move which should be none combat/prep and be purely introduction.

GOOD LUCK!!!
FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!!!

"Target acquired."

No sound was made. With uncanny speed, Kimicho treaded the plains, reaching the accorded area just in time for twilight. Rising from his position, he stood straight for once, taking in the scenery: the area was grassy, chilly, there were exactly nine trees in a twenty meter radius from himself, all of a common species - visibly sturdy and somewhat tall, they'd likely be incorporated into his strategy sooner or later, as they gave off an ample shadow. Sounds began to emerge, but certainly not from himself: crickets chirping, squirrels foraging for nuts, and the buzzing of many flying insects. Distractions, plenty of them.

A wicked smile curved his lips, relishing the possibilities. In the end, nothing would matter, but why not have some fun with his current target? He untied the ponytail in his hair and covered his mouth with the handkerchief, ensuring he truly couldn't make a sound if he so proposed. His outfit begun to blend in just a little more with the environment as the sky grew gray, a dark blue menacing to creep over soon. The charcoal tinted clothing would soon be indistinguishable with the lack of light. It was simply a matter of waiting, pray tell, for the opponent's sake, he arrived quickly. "Hmm..." A yawn escaped him, with stretching promptly following - the myriad of concealed weapons and grown uncomfortable at the arms, this was quickly fixed however.

"How I long for my end, soon, an unfortunate man will experience it as well." Visibly calm, he was in actuality, raring to fight whatever approached him, lest he be forced to slay all the wildlife nearby to make up for it. Kimicho took a seat in the grass and rested on a tree. Instinctively, he grew wary of his surroundings: most trees were on his side of the field, with another two relatively close to that one - a tree stood five meters to his own's left, and another five meters to its right. There was a near-adjacent pair ten meters in front of him, with the remaining four in a square around the perimeter in a square, apart from each other twenty meters. Outside of this square of trees, they were more abundant and closer together, but for his strategy, they weren't necessary. I don't plan on letting you run so far.

Elfine slowly made his way through the meadow, each step followed with his long hair swaying back and forth. Although long, Elfine’s hair has never effected him in combat; resting in its usual ponytail. The day was ending, becoming Elfines prime time; night. The teal scales of his vest started to blend within the twilight.

Another mission was set, he was to win this tournament and retrieve the prize for a high ranking noblemen. “What a bitter mission, at least the fighting will be worth it.” Elfine grew a slight grin from his words; any sounds of him talking were washed away. The sounds of crickets and other wild life filled the air “Such a clam land, a shame that it will soon be a battlefield.” He thought to himself, as he fixed the traditional headband, clearly showing he was from the Tiy’ma Family guild.

Elfine leaped into a average sized animal trench, his elegantly made leather shoes left a soft thud, has he braced his left knee down. Resting in a crouched position Elfine took a second to listen for any kind of distress. Keeping down low Elfine began to move, he wanted to have the first strike.

It wasn’t long before his target was insight; a male. Elfine couldn’t make out, absolutely anything, the poor lighting caused by the murkiness of night fall. Taking a mental note of what was around; two trees alongside one another were to his left. Towards the man were three trees one directly behind him, the other two stood on his left and right side. A good 5m away from him, simple enough location for Elfine to fight; he waited.

The sun was giving its goodbyes, its final rays illuminating the far-off distance. Kimicho took a deep breath and got up once more, tying his hair back with the navy blue handkerchief. By now the foe's presence had been found using echo-location - in this case, it consisted of sound waves he emitted, their frequency barely perceived by the human ear. Their return to Kimicho brought a vivid imagery of the foe and his hiding place: a natural trench, rather deep if they could hide his opponent like that. Looks like I won't relish this for very long. With that, he turned and jumped towards the tree he'd rested on, jumping once more in midair to reach its canopy. Sure enough, that had rustled some leaves, and even dropped a few off the treetop. It mattered little, lest the enemy had some form of magic, or abnormal aim to catch him from such distance. He'd calculated it off as around eight meters from the tree's base.

In a swift movement, a blowgun was produced from his sleeves, as well as a pair of darts and a small glass vial. With the muscle memory that came only from extraneous repetition, the darts were laced with a simple poison, meant to turn the muscles sluggish and retard the mind's cognitive processes. Cold, his eyes merely focused on the imagery the echo-location had given him. Out came the first dart, with Kimicho firing from a crouched position. It didn't aim for a body part in particular, as the foe's position wasn't favorable in the slightest. Given its trajectory though, it would hit his scalp or even his forehead if the man failed to dodge backwards correctly. The attack's purpose was simple enough: to get that coward out of his cubby hole.

Elfine watched as the man stood up, Elfine flinched tightening his muscles “Was he noticed? Should he strike now?” So many questions engulfed his mind, but he decided to waiting, and watching. The man’s actions became greatly active, first with a turn, he begun ascending towards the tree. Within a second he was gone, loud rustling noises followed after. Elfine had restrained himself from jumping after him, although after quick thinking waiting was a much wiser choice.

The soft rustling of calm winds moved the trees, as if a sign of good fortune they seemed to stop. The first attack had been made, Elfine carefully watched the trees for more movement; expecting the enemy to leave, and instead he noticed the dart heading straight for him. The darkness of night fall gave the small projectile a great advantage, but with a swift roll to the right Elfine dodged the attack.

Elfine proceeded to move he needed cover, getting into a hunched back position; he doubled-up his speed. Making sure that the large tree to the other mans left was hindering any vision of Elfine, he steadily placed his hands on the tip of trench leaping out of it. He braced himself to the tree, lowering his heart rate, and breathing, becoming silent; a skill he learned from years of being a mercenary. listening carefully for his foe to make a move, Armistice was now firmly held in his right hand, taken out during his sprint.

Kimicho determined several things from his opponent's reply. He was present in the fight, not to mention those two or three inches that he went over the ditch's height had proven vital to him dodging the attack. Last he saw the opponent was moving to a side, given the ditch's positioning it'd be safe to assume it was his left. A stern expression washed over his usually blank features. Letting out an exhale, both the blowgun and the sole dart were reintroduced into his arms' concealed pouches. With a swift lunge, the man of broken eyes came close to halving the distance between himself and the other tree. Casually, as it was something he'd do out of second nature, he gave another jump in midair, once more leaping forward, this time finding his hands grabbing onto the treetop's branches. The leaves were somewhat less abundant on this tree, but the sky had darkened more now. Slowly, his charcoal gray clothes found themselves blending in more and more - now he was a distinct part of the forest's pattern, but a part of it nonetheless.

With the enemy just below him, his vision was less impaired this time around: a large man, which as he'd originally determined, as just a bit bigger than the trench. He wore a bright cyan headband-- all in all, a walking target. It'd be a dangerous melee however, as the man branded a war-hammer in his right hand.Show me you're worth the time... The arrogant thought was followed by Kimicho withdrawing two daggers, one from each hidden compartment in his calves. They were slim, and their blades were not more than a few inches in length, built specifically for a quick assassination. His left hand formed an odd position with the fingers and dagger, resting on a tree branch, whilst his right made the same symbol, also with the weapon.

The hand positions revealed themselves to be a part of his sound magic casting: with a flick of both, the sound of the tree leaves was completely drowned out, instead replaced with a steady string of sounds just behind Elfine. They'd resemble footsteps in the grass, roughly two feet behind the mercenary. All the while, Kimicho laced both knives with the blowgun's same poison. Out of practice, he bode his time with exact precision, counting the duration of the sound spell. One... T-Two... Now it all depended on how the foe spent those two and a half seconds.
