Rion it wasn't that big of a deal... anyways THANK YOU RION Malevolence musnt be brought up around me please I have some major issues with him and I am forcing my self not to lash out and list off reasons why he shouldnt be on the site. Anyways (Again) Rion that was kinda rude towards Skall, and I kinda felt like he would ignore me because isnt that what most creators and admins do? Well I guess not here with Skall and Qb and all the others like myrin and more but still if he wishes to ignore them then let him its not like its going to ruin my fun or my life.

When did this become a venting thread?

I wasn't venting O_O

I was simply telling the truth of what is going to happen before you do it. Henceforth it shouldn't be done, and it would only be wasting your time. Nor was I being rude to Skallagrim, but I did make a point to emphasis my point when Skallagrim pressed the issue of Victim going to ask Eric. I wasn't venting, nor was I being rude. If I came of unintentionally rude, or even intentionally rude, I apologize. Not my intention.

However I did want Skallagrim to understand what my point was, which he didn't seem to get the first time I mentioned it.

See that is the thing Rion, I had an issue and presented it to Rem, I explained it and he did indeed rectify the situation. Was that an aberration perhaps, but then again I had heard that he was ignoring Nonpareil and Dion and everyone else. I still asked for his intervention and while I expected him to turn me down I was surprised that he responded and fixed it. Everyone is different and while I do expect Rem to tell Victim the same thing he told you, one never knows unless we ask.

I just think it would be awfully strange if he didn't fix the problems that for instance, I have, but goes on to fix the problem that Victim has. Wouldn't you think so?

Actually Arrogance this somewhat has to do with the intention of the topic. Its about the HoR but seems to be getting off topic. Either way Thank you Saf I think I will use that idea in my battle.

I PMed him about a match somebody never validated, asking him to validate it and even offering to show PMs to prove I won. No answer u_u. Not even a no.

Now! I ask ye, community of capable fighters: what is your view on guns? I know they're frowned upon for the most part because they're considered auto-hitting. Would you accept them in a more powerful setting? What if their speed were downplayed? Or the characters didn't suffer so much from a gunshot?

Just curious to see what everyone thinks about their use. My personal view is that it requires skill to write properly with them, but not so much to get positive IC results in a normal setting.

What I am wondering is what people think about energy weapons as opposed to guns?

Guns?

Nothing wrong with them. Hell I have a gunslinger who is bad-ass and has fought a katana fighter (And won) on several occasions. I don't feel that they are a form of auto-hit. Guns are less flexible than swords, and hence they are harder to use, and requires more writing skill. Generally only people familiar with guns should use them, that means you need to go research them before you start using them. I really don't want people using weapons and skills that they generally don't know about. Katana's are so overused to the point where it is downright annoying.

People slam katana's into stuff like they are the most durable weapons ever, but they are like the least durable out of all of the variations of a blade.

I don't mind guns in semi-realistic, though in full realistic then they are pretty much auto hits. If both players have guns then it brings in ALOT of new strategies, such as having to sneak up on the enemy, how to travel from here to there without taking a bullet in the back. Some good fighters that use guns on other forums (maybe this one too but I haven't checked) came up with extremely imaginative ways to use them, for example, one guy jammed a rock into the trigger of his machine gun so it would keep firing and threw it out of his cover, and it actually hit his enemy. So I don't mind them if agreed upon, though someone jumping into an RP with them and just shooting everyone up does generally ruin it.

Well, guns can be equally as effective, I still use kenetic energy guns with some of my future characters, it's a like a 50/50 chance. If everyones using energy then they probably have reflective armour, walk in some guy with a chaingun and reflective armour his attacks will mow through them while keeping a good defense against theirs. It's alot like bows vs guns, if played properly the bows still have a good chance of winning. In the end energy weapons are probably fairer then guns, cause it's easier to see their bullets, the energy moves slower then bullets, and if you get hit in the chest it likely won't go right through to your heart, as most of them just burn through a bit of skin rather then driving through the person.

No, honestly I think foils are far less durable, considering you can't even technically block with them, it has to be a deflection.

I agree with Kono. Guns take almost all of the fun out of rping, unless in the right hands. I usually stay away from guns. I usually favor a more personable killing :P

Guns have their place just like swords do. This goes back to when it is right to use tech, and when it is right to use magic. The only thing is that guns are used less than swords because swords seem to appeal to the simpleton minds now adays.

The character I've used the most on here uses guns in conjecture with his powers. Hopefully I haven't done anything to make it seem like it would be an auto hit.

what's that supposed to mean? I use weapons for the finesse of it, and you have to find a way to get close to your opponent. Especially when they're using ranged weapons.

hmm, I guess I could be a simpleton mind XD though I do have a few clockworked characters that use what would have been fuedal age guns. Mainly gunpowder based though a few going above the normal limits cause it amuses me to see how people deal with it ^^ (and I mean deal with it in the good way, not trying to get a rise out of it)

I've actually taken it upon myself to learn swordsmenship and I'd say I'm half decent, it's amazing how much of a change there really is in skill though, and how many people don't realize it. Of course, I'm referring to the people who've challenged me with not the slightest clue of how to properly wield a blade (using shinai of course). So at least with blades I have a general idea of what I'm really doing XD
With guns I've only really shot a magnum, other then airsoft but I'm sure that wouldn't qualify. :P

Skallagrim, would you mind helping me with a new character concept I am coming up with? I need help developing powers for a character that I recently made. I have fought 4 times with him and suceeded in winning in realistic matches, but I don't know where to go with his powers. I have small ideas, but I think for once I am going to need some help with them. Contact me if you can as soon as possible, or we can do it here. Doesn't matter to me O_O

I can help you as well if you want. I make characters on a daily bases lol. Not all are great, but I would like to think they are powered fairly. Except Grinum and Krugan they are highly powered. And appaerntly Grinum is godmodding... Wait Skall is teleporting Godmodding even if it has a draw back?

Teleporting is unfair in that it completely negates all types of damage with a sure dodge. Not only that, teleporting also allows you to get a very favoring position with little effort-- what's it cost you to teleport behind the opponent and have at his neck?

It's cheap, 'kay?

Ugh. There goes Kurt Bannon's main mode of evading attacks. Then again, the original concept was for an extremely high-powered tournament.

What I might do to resolve this difficulty is make it sort of like Detect from Pokemon: You don't get to attack in the turn you prepare the teleportation, but if your opponent does attack in the turn after you give up yours, you safely dodge the blow.

Here's how it might play out in an actual fight: Say Kurt gives up his attack to prepare a teleport to dodge, and seeing his chance, Law fires a barrage of bullets. But since Kurt has a ready action to teleport away from an incoming attack, he manages to do so, and Law is suddenly finding himself short half a clip.

(I named the characters for the sake of clarification and argument only.)
How long will he keep on fighting? How long will his pain last? Maybe only the X-Buster on his hand knows for sure...
