Introduction

Vex-Chari-Noda
Shattered-World-Torn

Jen took her place on a great pillow, moving to sit on her knees and feet, over looking those who had spent such great time and power to commission her abilities. Dressed in ancient Japaneses robes from a world long since lost and replaced, the matured human female took a few deep breathes, breathing in the incense at her sides, the powerful herbs and magical essence that was burning would boost her sight to see pure truth and give the answers that she would soon be asked for by the many knights in glowing golden and silver armor before her. Around them, Jen's most trusted friends and allies, in many shapes and forms, some of angelic influence, some of demonic, some not even human in any form at all prepared to watch over her and protect her if needed.

β€œOkay oracle... it is time for us to learn the real truth of our great goddess. Tell of us the end of the world many ancients call Earth... and how it was blessed with such great divine power.” The leader of the knights, a woman who held herself above all the others there stated, clearly on edge and annoyed over things, but not thrusting it... or at least trying to force it all upon the oracle before her.

Jen just closed her eyes for a few, the incense slowly swirling around her and making her give off a a gentle emerald hue of light before she at last opened her eyes, now entirely covered in a blinding light as she looked up to the ceiling of the ritual site, her stone mason preparing to etch her words into the almost untouchable stone of the timeless obelisk behind her as Jen spoke at last, her words echoing throughout the temple in its entirety.

β€œSo many had predicted the end of the world, the end of times, of all life, of existence. Everyone had their own ideas, every religion a prophecy, every culture a legend, every person a theory. There were many common thoughts to the this question, many answers, many debates, but still many common theories.”

β€œNuclear War, a death by fire and radiation, the world already on the brink of war, a very common idea, the so called Doom’s Day Clock less then a minute from the end.
Divine Intervention, a sudden rapture or reckoning, a devil rising to power and claiming all land, or perhaps a great divine power whisking away all the chosen and purging the rest.
A new plague, some great sickness that would sweep entire nations to their feet, cutting the so called human infestation of earth to its knees at long last.
Global Warming, a constant rise in temperatures and solar radiation, scorching fields in drought or melting the ice caps, possibly even both, a death by fire and ice.
A meteor, a sudden crash of such great magnitude the ice age would return in the new blanket of ash and dust that would cover the world.”

β€œSo many theories, so many ideas, so many stories… and all wrong. The end of the world was unlike anything anyone could have predicted. It did not however come without warning, even if the end was nothing like anyone had suspected. It happened so quickly, mere days of warning, a glint of something dark in the sky, like a perpetual bolt of black lighting appearing over several cities across the globe, doomsayers rising like mad, entire nations preparing for the worst they could image.”

β€œAnd then, just like that… the end came… and then it was done. Billions just… vanished, never to be heard from again, but the survivors were… changed, just like the land.”

β€œWe now call our homes by Vex-Chari-Noda, some supposed ancient phrase that no one can place, part of no recognizable dialect, written or spoken, just supposedly meaning a β€œShattered-World-Torn”, a perfect and fitting name to our worlds now.”

β€œWorlds… plural… many… earth ceased to be that day. Now small continents and strings of islands are all we have… if that. Each world is small, like some giant crater, just some massive hole in which different things and places exist. An impenetrable mountain range surrounds each crater, the sky leading to what we know of space and the moons, but each world is different. Some are of fire, molten fields and magma filled plains, endlessly spewing burning rocks and sulfur where fire rains from the sky so few can survive. Some are of water, an ocean with no real land aside from the strange spires that jut up from its waters, and the mountain range that surrounds it, endless rain pours down, and the ocean has no apparent bottom. There is even a world where the mountains surround the world as it is known, but nothing but air exists there, open nigh endless skies with a dense fog that creates a boundary from which you either never return or find yourself going from the bottom to some random point just below the highest reaches of the atmosphere.”

β€œConnecting these worlds are the great chasms, the tunnels, some large enough to drop a small city threw, that go on for hundreds of miles, always carved somewhere in the main part of the land, sometimes in impossible places, such as on a floating island, maybe the middle of the ocean where the water just does not flow leaving a giant hole at an impossible angle that heads down to it, even in the very clouds. Each world is connected to as few as three other worlds, and as many as nine, but all the paths are different, no instances of portals connecting to each other again within any two falls.”

β€œNow our people are splintered and fractured among our many worlds, no one has ever explored them all, even with the great changes we have gone though, those of us who have survived these past 400 years. Rumors suggest that there are as many as 1000 worlds made from our once singular earth, reliable sources able to describe the twisted new lands well, trust worthy maps available in all kinds of forms for those who know how to look for them, the survivors scattered among them all, if they can survive in these strange new lands.”

β€œMany indeed have come to survive over the past four hundred years. Those humans that survived the shattering received some form of great power. Many used their new gifts to survive, trying to continue the world as it was before. Just as many let their new gifts go their head, letting the powers that had become part of them to control their actions, becoming raiders and bandits, merely taking what they wanted. For all former humans though, life was set to a new course.”

Final passage etched on the Time locked Obelisk, and the last ravings of Truth, as Spoken by an Oracle of Prophecy, Jen Gates, strongest of the Truth Whisperers, before her death at the hands of Mira Juneborn, Commander of Warcraft and Leader of Eighth Crusader Order's entire war machine called The Hand of the Goddess. Great effort when into the ritual of Truth Speak, funded and supplied by the Eighth Crusader Order. Jen Gates was executed by beheading mid Truth-Speak for daring to speak blasphemy in the eyes of the Eighth Crusader Order, for outright claiming that Divine Intervention, the holy caring gentle hand of the Great Goddess did not choose to help Earth ascend. Although protected by many powerful creatures of various worlds and several mighty survivors from Earth, Jen was struck down mid Truth-Speak, before any true answers of what had caused the Shattering to happen. The Eighth Crusader Order proceeded to lay waste to all forms of so called Oracles of Prophecy for being misguided and led by false powers. The Oracles of Prophecy are no longer a great power anymore, all of their greatest Truth-Speakers were former humans of earth, and no one born of the new worlds has shown any where near enough skill to speak such great Truths again.

The tavern was open and filled with heavy smalls of ale and lager, a large dwarven mining party there enjoying a great find of jewels in the world. The tavern owner couldn't believe his luck for that night, having to call in everyone he had work for him, all of his bar maids working hard in the mess, his entire harem rented out entirely and already claimed for turns that night.

In one corner of the bar though, a dwarf older then all the others sat at a corner table, his head almost leaning on the table in his drunken actions. "So you want to know about earth huh?" He speaks a bit, the ever-tongue gem in the amulet he wore giving him perfect speech, entirely hiding the fact that the dwarf was drunk off his ass, or at least his speech would hide such a claim.

"Yeah, I was from earth, I'm an ancient." The dwarf laughed a little bit. "Use to come from a place called York... or something like that. NewCity maybe or something... bah who cares, it was a horrible place, no real freedom there, everyone trying to tell you want you can can't do. You had special words for everyone, and if you tried to use another word for em, they got pissy and next thing ya know you were getting cussed out and damn near wars broke out over it. Bah... glad to be a dwarf now. Sure I kinda miss being as tall a full horse sometimes... but I love ma new body even if I am short. I can flip wagons and the very stone bows to my voice, ma name is respected and if I wanna call some big one a fool, aint no one going to get on my case about it." The dwarf laughed, his ever-tongue amulet having a few minor shifts in the words here there, but working well enough given who it had to work with.

"Aye.... when those black birds came that day, and started to blot out the moon, it changed everything. People who survived that shattering... whelp they done changed all right. I become a dwarf like many of those who shared a tower of housing with me. Found others like us who took us in and next we all knew, we were happy to be dwarves, if it took some time to get use to being one anyway. I heard other humans got changed all sorts a ways too. Some grew fur and fang, others got scales and tails, eck, some even remained human if you can believe that." The dwarf continued, happy to drink keg that was given to him for the story he was telling.

"I know some turned to angels, others to ta demons, and some of em even gave up legs entirely becoming humanless things. They say some great Goddess did it all. Bah... rubbish. And all this stuff about females taking over world after world enslaving men. Let em try to come here and change things. Dwarven people will always have a king, and his queen will lead as much as she always does at his side, the two of em running things proper thinking of all the dwarves and the people who rent our surfaces. Foolish tales of some great goddess who gives her favor to the chosen aint naught but rubbish." He grunted.

"Now you want to know what real powers come from. Aye... I may be an ancient... a human from earth at one time... but many o da powers that come up... they all be ancients just like me. Many of us earthens got lots a da power during the shattering. Not like most of you cultures who just showed up after the shatterning. No... real power is ancient power. Some o us humans... when they done got changed... they turned to real angels and demons and gods and devils. Those four legged dragons with the big wings... now they be powerful and all, and I aint shamed one bit to say even i take cover and hope they pass when a angry old one shows up... but some of us ancients... I think some of us ancients could take em on in a fair fight. All this talk o some great goddess... aint naught but another ancient da got lucky and gained real power... and since she don't seem to want to show herself, she either don't give no damn about them crusades or she don't even really exist. Its all just some other bogus religion... like that christy thing I thought was before the shattering." The dwarf states slamming his mug down a bit on the table looking over their guest.

"No... you won't see us dwarves bowing down... Run off those crusades more then one we have... and we'll keep doing it again and again, brothers and sisters in arms... nothing stops a dwarven war machine if we can reach it. Stupid dragons and their scaly wings... only reason why we respect em is cause they smart beasts with wings. They know they got power and they know to use it. I can't stand the fires meself, but many o my brother and sisters in da clan can and we can know to let them hold them off and then the rest da us do our part and pick up and hammers and axes to put the pieces back together again. You want a real ancient... ya, just look to our king... now that's an arcaner dwarf, leads our magical forces in battle head on and let me tell you, arcane roasted lizard is a rare delicacy!" He laughed.

"Wh-what... oh... more about the old world. Eh... not much to really tell about it. I mean you can see pieces of it in every world there is, if someone didn't build over it. I heard there coulda been as many as 10 billion people on it... and it was only the size of of many 6 of da moons!" He cried out. "And they were all surface dwelling humans. Why... what's so weird is that they I use ta believe that Earth was more water then land... but nah.... water ain't that common in any form. I mean sure there's those water worlds with the spires and sand and stuff... but that's only a few worlds... outta what I say has to be thousands... at least!" He grunted a bit. "Every world came from earth, but no way so many of us woulda died during the shattering. The Truth men say that only a few million humans lived to be changed... that's as much rubbish as that stupid goddess." He goes on.

"No... wat... look I've said my part about Earth, and I don like repeating it. It wasn't special and I say most of the stuff was lies. This keg is nice but I've got coin for better to tell stories how I want and there are better people to listen." He grunts a bit, finally waving off his companion, grabbing a barmaid now clearly done with his tale, the shadowy figure he had been sharing the story with getting up and leaving.

Minor ramblings of Earth from an ancient, turned dwarf by the shattering.

~--xxxXVXxxx--~

The entire gothic stone cathedral was in a hush, only the sounds of weapons being sharpened and cared for echoed softly in the massive structure. In one corner where the old kitchen use to be sat an elderly elf gal, war scarred and still hiding within her over sized dragon scale cloak to try and retain some privacy to her scars. β€œYeah... I'm an ancient... one of the best hunters too. What do I hunt?” She asked looking over her shadowy companion. β€œJust look around... how many other creatures have bones that large you dumbass. I hunt and kill dragons. Real... dragons. I've got 27 to my name alone, and over 200 assists. I manage at least one confirmed kill or assist every other year... and run off at least a dozen more each year as well...” She states still hiding her face as she sharpens her sword.

β€œI know more about then most races collectively know. Dragons showed up during the shattering. They came in numbers, found a world to claim as their own, and then killed or ran off ever one within 3 chasms of their home...There are many dragon like creatures out there... but only one kind of True Real Dragon. Four legs, two or four wings, large curved horns over their head. Three claws per foot, their front feet much more dexterous and able to grab things, they can even write with their claws. Large and deadly, all of them have some kind of elemental breathe attack. The worse of them them have magic... and tons of it at their disposal.” She explained.

β€œAny real dragon will kill you as soon as look at you, everything is beneath them and have they don't have fear. If they run in legitimate fear... then the other dragons will disown them. You can typically tell a lot about a dragon by their colors and their head. Meaner ones... the older ones have elaborate horns or gems embedded in a crown around their face, almost like war paint. Those horns... they sell good, just getting one the size of my arm could pay to restore this abandoned cathedral twice over. Of course... killing one with that much power... you'd have to be a demi-god or a demon with an army to make it work. And there are only so many ancients with that kind of power.”

β€œThat stupid goddess all these crusades fight for... Ha... a joke. If... and I mean if she exists... sure she might be able to take down an elder dragon... but its a joke if they think they fight in her name. I've seen a dragon tear right through one of those mighty crusades... left it in shambles and without any kind of order. Any man that can help properly stand up to a dragon... I say he's bought his freedom, even if it was only once. No slave can stand up to a dragon after all... not a real dragon. Most men are worthless, but if one can muster the nerve and actually help fight a dragon... or even help kill it... he's free as far as I'm concerned... I've personally made sure some men were freed after helping to kill a dragon even.” She stated looking over her guest some as she continued to sharpen her blades.

β€œYou want to know about earth? Yeah... I was there, was some lowly china girl in a land not her home when it happened... me... I say that dragons did this... There's one of em... massive... only two large curved horns... some giant rounded stone that rests between them over its head. That one... I've only seen a poor picture of it once. But that one... that one I hear about a lot... They say this one rules over all the others from the world they laid claim to. The dragons... the real ones lose power the further they get from their home world. No one dares to get closer then four worlds if they can help it because that's where most of the elders still openly hunt... and if an elder finds you there... whelp you had better pray to anything that will listen to save your soul.” She stated.

β€œIf you're hunting dragons... you'd best do it at least a dozen worlds away from their home world. Of course they further they go, the weaker they seem to get. I've never seen a real dragon more then 40 chasms from their home world. And the one that was that unfortunate 40 worlds out... he was caught by some demon prior and was being towed around like some kind of trophy. I heard that when the demon when to snag another to show off though... he was killed by an elder that made utter fun of him the whole time. In all the thousand worlds we have now... only a small handful of them are safe from dragons from being to far away.” She continued.

β€œThe dragons are the only thing I can think of that could have caused the Shattering. And if there really is something more powerful then the dragons out there... well I personally hope it's done with us here. Now if you'll excuse me... My blades are ready... I have a trap to set up to claim this month's bounty.” She stated grabbing her armor and leaving the shadowy figure behind.

A quick review of dragons as told by one of the great elvish ancient hunters, as told by personal experience.

The gentle hum of soft music and the quiet whispers of pray filled the giant white halls of the First Crusader Order, its marble halls filled with priestess's and prayer folk as the shadowy figure moved through the halls, going to see one of the temple maidens in the main garden.

It didn't take long for the figure to reach the garden, where they were greeted by the temple maiden, the elf with a set of large furry cat ear headband, furry gloves and boots, and a fake tail on a waistband around her long white dress.

β€œWelcome... you are the newcomer coming to ask of the great goddess?” The temple maiden asked, holding her hands up as though she were a playful kitten, giving a fake purr.

The shadowy figure just nodded a bit. β€œOh, you are so lucky to come today. Why it is almost time for her lunar festival. On this special of years, our great goddess shall bless our crops for another great bounty.” She smiled, spinning around little. β€œAll praise to our goddess, may her touch shelter all the worthy.” She said, the figure merely nodding again.

β€œWhere shall I begin?” She asked. β€œOh... her origins? What do you mean?... Where did she come from and where is she now?” The temple maiden lowered her hands a bit, unsure how to respond. β€œSadly, none of us know much of the goddess, only that we have her great blessings. Why is was the goddess who helped those of Earth Ascend and gave birth to so many new worlds for us to spread her word to.” The temple maiden said.

β€œBut she is with us now. It took her many years after the shattering to return to us and show us her presence again, but we all know that she is with us. She stood up and slew the foul Demon Arochoa who was enslaving many precious females from over a dozen worlds, and then one day was found castrated in his own foul court. Those few survivors told us of her great image, the wondrous feline form that we now know is her form today.” The temple maiden happily smiled and turned to acting a little like a cat herself again.

β€œWhy after that, even if she has remained away only watching us from a far for the past 300 years, we know that our great crusaders spread her word and give all of use females great honor, while making sure to those unworthy males at our feet.” She smiled. β€œIt is with her blessings that the great city, our wondrous capital of Zenos. Why... our great capital flourishes so greatly, with our great president and her first manservant, no dragon even dares to set foot there.” The temple maiden practically cheered a bit.

β€œWhy... the Great Goddess even lives in the jungle world right next to our. Although none have returned from her world, we know that they are with her now in spirit, and we humbly await the day that she chooses to appear before us again.” She smiled greatly, giving her best fake purr yet.

β€œWhat... you wish to visit her?” The temple maiden gasped a bit. β€œWhy... of course, I can point you on the way to make the pilgrimage, but be warned. The world she lives in, it is not one of ease, and many great beasts, bears and boars, tigers and lizards the size of tanks roam her great jungle.” The temple maiden smiled. β€œCome... if you wish to make the pilgrimage, then our temple can help you prepare for the journey and give you a safe place to pray for her favor.” She smiled, only to give him a a strange look.

β€œYou merely wish to know where she resides?” She asked. β€œAre you sure you do not wish to prepare properly for your grand pilgrimage? Please... I would hate for someone to go unprepared for such a journey... I see... Very well. Our Temple Master can show you the way.” The temple maiden said, bowing lightly and making way to let the figure pass.

First teachings of the Great Goddess at all temples for new coming females seeking the comfort and superiority that is being female among the largest of the newest cultures formed after the Shattering. Even with differences between the various orders and cultures, the general first teachings are all the same.

β€œWhat!” The large amazonian lady practically barked out looking over the shadowy figure. β€œI am still the greatest history in any world there, even back on earth.” She practically slams her fist down on the table in her large study. β€œI've seen cultures right and fall, entire empires rise and die, and this whole thing of some cat girl being some great god that caused the shattering is some pathetic sham at its finest. I was old when the shattering happened and there was no goddess then, and there is no goddess now.” She growled a bit moving books around her study.

β€œYou want to know the truth of that interesting religion. Well.. the crusaders have been around since the start of the shattering. Bunch of women got together once the dust settled and blamed men for all the problems, and that was the first crusade, only took place over about 12 years in just five worlds. There was no goddess then even, just a bunch of angry women who went to war and made it very very personal against anything with a cock between their legs. And trust me, I have seen wars first hand. When men go to war, its just stupid, but its typically over quick. Sometimes there is a good reason, but honestly, war is hell. When a woman goes to war, its personal and she seeks to make sure to completely destroy and rewrite everything in her favor when its done.” She stated firmly.

β€œAfter that first crusade though, the women involved built up a nice little empire, started to prosper, and then the dragons show up about 10 years after they claimed their first five worlds. That started the second crusade which failed horribly. That first dragon was felled quickly, and so were the next few, but they were all younglings. The women got arrogant and tried to take out the nest and ventured off to find the dragon's home... Out of the hundred thousand who went out to claim a new land, maybe 50 returned. The second crusade started off strong and nearly tripled in number of the course of three worlds before it was smashed and the elder dragon put them in their place scattering two of the five worlds of the crusaders.” She went on pulling out a few books and showing some crudely drawn maps.

β€œIt took another 10 years for them to gather themselves up again and start fixing the mess left behind, but by then the full blown demon, an ancient human with tons of treacherous power over the minds of people began his own rise to power. It was that demon that led to this so called goddess being born in the end. The third crusade started well giving this empire four more worlds where men got enslaved, but at the same time, Sin as he was calling him was recruiting a harem of thousands of his own, mostly females in positions of power that he would walk up to and take. The third crusade ended with him creating the so called death line, a chasm of molten lava and charred stone around one of the great chasms that connect the worlds.” She stated pointing out to a few images.

β€œI've been to the death line, and I tell you, it wasn't a demon that made it, it was the work of elementals, no doubt more of his tricks. I say Sin had no real power aside from illusions letting him weave whatever story he wanted through smoke and mirror stories. Whatever the case, he alone stopped the third crusade from advancing over his world and took his place as a demon for close to 40 years. Over those years, that empire grew, but it had no gods, not a damn one at all to its name. Hell... it beat other groups in their world for daring to even mention the word β€œgod” to damn near death.”

β€œNow, at that point, it had been 72 years since the shattering and things were starting to settle down and us changed ancient humans were making our place among all the new worlds and cultures. We had all comes to terms with our new lives, our bodies, or at least most of had and that's about the time that we were even starting to get called ancients by the newer people who came to be with the shattering. And this is when the tale gets real interesting. You see, Sin had become a major power, even the dragons didn't bother him and most avoided him. His harem was said to be the tens of thousands and he did some awful things to this girls. Meanwhile, the Crusader Empire was preparing for its fourth crusade to claim more worlds.” She explained moving over and grabbing a small thin book, opening it up to show a rough sketch of some female figure, with a clear tail and ears of cat, as well as paws and feet of one, one hand clearly covering her large chest.

β€œThis is the best sketch I can muster based on what the survivors say. Sin was about to go collect the president of the crusaders herself just after she sent out the fourth crusade. An emergency collection of troops was gathered, the scared fifth order... a laugh and a joke if you ask me... or mini crusade was going to march on Sin as soon as word got sent to the president since it would take the fourth crusade at least a month to get back and re-arm. When the fifth crusade arrived though... they found Sin screaming and whining, crying like a child, his famed and all mighty horse cock laying several feet away. Someone... this cat girl... had castrated him in his own court according to the slaves there. Now... not one damned crusader today will ever admit this... but the slaves that were there say that it wasn't a cat, or even a female who walked into Sin's court that day. They said that it was some human male, and that he was in a very bad mood. He walked knowingly into the court demanding something about water that had strange effects according to the slaves, but all his questions were ignored by Sin.” She explained.

β€œNow... Sin let this go on for a bit, before he just got up and slammed his clawed hand through the guy's chest. The slaves around them at the time say that the guy exploded in kind of bright light, and then he was gone, this girl was in his place now.” She said tapping the sketch again. β€œShe snapped at him, jumping back, barked something at him in a tongue that Sin must have known cause it made him smile a lot and talked back in the same tongue, but the slaves couldn't place it. He just circled the cat for a few before grabbing her ass and chest while she tried to keep herself covered with her tail and one hand. The slaves were... not happy to mention much of what happened next, but apparently in one quick fluid set of motions, this cat girl had tossed Sin back into his throne like he was a rag doll, slashed his chest open and castrated him before throwing him back to the center of the throne room. Turns out Sin was a sex demon and all of his power came literately from that fucking horse cock he had between his legs. Squealed like a girl and told the cat everything he or she wanted to know very quickly before she left. A few hours later the fifth crusade shows up and that's the first mention of the goddess at all.” She explained. β€œRumor has it that Sin is still in his now pity cave still crying and holding his crotch.”

β€œAs for the girl, no one has heard of her since personally. The crusades ran full steam ahead though with this thing about a goddess being the great savior and almost over night, her status as a god was set. Rumors spread rumors, want of something spread like wild fire, and the story only got more and more obscure until finally... after 300 years and 11 massive decade long crusades in her name... she is the so called single most revered goddess among half the major worlds in one shape or another, and yet the girl herself is nowhere to be seen or even heard at all. Twelve Mighty Crusade orders are set in her image, and she doesn't even have a name, but even the dragons are supposedly afraid of her. Many claim to know where she is, some jungle world and if she is still alive, then she picked one hell of a damn good spot to hide. To castrate Sin so fully so quickly in his own court, she could survive the beasties in that jungle easily, and there is no telling what she found inside the world. No one knows though since you can fly there... the very air kills you if you try. Now you can glide there a bit, but if you have wings, you don't use them there or you suffer, that makes her world dragon-proof.” She explained.

β€œI can't even keep track of all the legends that surround this girl now though... Damn culture got divided up and split so many times, each one going on differently about the same girl, that its fucking crazy. A few the cults she has are all about secrets and everything to make matters worse. I tell you... this girl is an ancient alright, she's from earth, but whether she was a she or a he back then, no one knows. She has a full set of various religions after her now though. If she's still alive, then either she don't care about all this praise or she ain't happy with it at all. Either way... if she didn't want to be a god, she missed her chance long ago. This entire religion is based off rumors, smoke and mirrors, and pride. And ain't no crusader going to say a damn thing to make me believe otherwise, its all a fake religion that is enslaving men wherever they go. I say let em all burn, they ain't worth the time of day...” She stated. β€œNo you go on and get, You've got your fifty gold worth of time and I want you out of my way.”

A detailed and thorough over look over the Great Goddess as told my famed historian Julian Banks, as told after centuries of detailed digging and investigation over the truth of the so-called Great Goddess of the Crusades.

~--xxxXVXxxx--~

β€œHas it really been that long.” The feline humanoid asked as she sat on top of the tank parked a few miles out from the edge of the lake in her home world. She was resting in her large strange armor consisting mostly of a trench coat and shoulder pads at first as she looked over the bodies of the dead around, all female, all wearing the same glowing silver and golden, and now also blood crusted armor. β€œFour hundred and one years since it happened....” She sighed a bit, looking over her large four digit hand like paw.

Slowly she stood up and hopped from the side of the smoking tank, the thing heavily battered and beaten, not longer usable as she started to search the collection of crusaders at her feet for anything she would even want to bother with. Most of anything that she even remote saw of use were the coin pouches they carried, which she stored in her own magic pouch, until at last she found the commander of the crusaders, just throwing her body off into the woods with ease. β€œStupid arrogant....” She grumbled, mumbling some more as heard the body impact hard against a tree nearly a hundred feet off in the distance, only to look down and see a letter on the ground still tucked into the crusader's belt, the belt having been torn off when she was killed no doubt.

Leaning down, she plucked the letter, clearly enchanted with magic to protect it from wear and tear, and unfolded it. β€œLet's see what's on the agenda today...” The feline started looking it over. β€œThat's this Mira's seal again, which means this group was hand picked... and they are going on and on about everything...” She sighed before finally coming to the good part towards the middle.

β€œWe must find and gather the personal favor of The Goddess. I have sat idle long enough. She will be presented to our capital with the greatest of honors and I have chosen you to go see her path to our greatest of cities be cleared and officially offer our hand of respect, honor, faith, and above all else, servitude to her glory.” The feline hissed a bit reading the letter skipping ahead a bit. β€œIt is imperative that we are the first to personally be given her blessings and have her take up residence in our temple so that the Royal Order of the Goddess can be the unquestioning and proper Ruling figure of all the Crusader Orders. It can only be with our entire combined might that we will be able to control the entirety of the land, and all of Vex-Charo-Noda, including this foolish Dragon Empire. Only when will all know their place and will the pathetic rabble that males be forever in their place at the feet of their superior female.” She hissed heavily as she stopped reading and threw the letter back.

β€œOf all things I've done, how could I let this continue for 300 years... How could it even have been 300 years....” She sighed a bit, moving over and quickly stepping into a pool of water, a bright bluish glow moving over her from the water helping her calm herself. β€œI can't just go charging off to Zenos... Gen Chari, the trade world...I could gather when I need to there to start with. All major worlds do trade there, it shouldn't be too hard to hear things, no matter which body I'm stuck in.” She stated starting to think clearly again. β€œBut how do I correct this... I've spent the majority of all this time isolated here... This will be a long battle, but I can't let this fake image of some stupid god continue...” She stated starting to walk off into the woods as something stirred off in the distance, the predators of the jungle coming to collect the feast of dead bodies, an easy meal.

Personal thoughts of Alexia, as heard by the shadowed nameless figure, marking the coming of a new era for Vex-Chari-Noda.

General Rules
1) Don't be afraid to ask questions regarding the Role play. If you have a question that you think needs to be asked, just ask it.
2) This will be a hopefully large scale and literate style of Role play. I fully expect for characters to join and even make additional factions and powers within the Role play and these factions will probably come to blows with each other from time to time. A license to be killed will be stated Yes or No on all characters. This does not give any character with a license to be killed a target on their back to be killed just for fun. There must be a reason for any character death. Additionally, while there will be conflict between characters, this does not give the players themselves to the right to openly attack other players. You will remain civilized and talk things out politely. As the Game Master, I do reserve the rights to take over and resolve things in my own methods if the needs arise. I also reserve to kill off, replace, and eject players and their characters if needed from this role play.
3) I highly encourage talking with other players throughout this role play. This alone should assist in making posts, remaining civil with your fellow players, and helping to further build this collection of massive worlds.
4) This collection of worlds are big. I have only and very much intentionally not listed many of the worlds, races, or cultures that have come into creation for this role play. If you have ideas and which to add onto this world, speak up. As a Game Master, I have no issues with improving upon, adding to, or resolving potential unforeseen problems.
5) As Game Master, I reserve the right to turn away any character for this role play. I have included a hopefully thorough Character Application Section in the OOC section as the layout I have made includes it and I feel that it fits well. Yes, some characters can indeed grow up to be god-like. Abuse of this power however can lead to character death, reduction in abilities and powers, and even ejection. There will be thousands of various characters and creatures in the worlds to have interactions with and some of them are still considered to always be more powerful then your character.
6) As A Game Master, I have no complaints with taking on more then one character. How you choose to handle your character or characters falls to you. Do not attempt to over load yourself with characters however. If you insist on having or creating a multitude of characters, I will heavily suggestion that you use a cycle-in / cycle-out system through which you are only actively using a few characters at a time, with the characters that you have created cycling in and out of major story events.
7) In a world this large, there will no doubt be references to other forms of media, doubly so as this world takes a modern day earth of 2015 and then shatters it. A large number of survivors remain from modern day earth, and tons of new forms of life and power may imitate other forms of media. You will find a Key Term listed as "References And Imitations" within the Key Terms section of the Introduction. All "references" and "imitations" should also give credit to the source material.
8) In a set up such as this, there is plenty of room for "plot-derailment". This is an acceptable action within limits. As a Game Master, I have strictly and currently only created four major arcs that need resolution. This does not however mean that this major plot goal needs to be done quickly, nor does it mean that all characters have to work to further this cause. There will be lots of additional conflict, adventure, and interactions along the way that should be explored as well.
9) Additional Needed Information reguarding this Role play has been added to the OOC sections of this Role Play.
10) To find the Character Application, look in the OOC Section under "Character Assistance".
11) If you wish to join the Role Play, but at some point find yourself unable to post, please leave a note. I would prefer that all players try to leave one post per week as manageable, but at the very least, I would like to keep the time between any two given posts under a week. This is not always possible, I understand this. I will not remove players from the roleplay for failing to make posts, but if you cannot post, please let us know and I will attempt to find a suitable method to keep the characters present alive, if perhaps away from the party for a while, who are welcome to join back up later.

The following is a detail of important general information / key words / rules, important factions / personal, worlds / locations, and major relics to considered heavily and taken into consideration for the Roleplay. Everything below this point will be listed under one of three categories.

Knowledgeable – (Know.) Any item listed as Knowledgeable is information that player-characters can know and use in the roleplay from the start of the roleplay. Just because it is knowledgeable doesn't always mean a character will now it if they little interest in some subjects.

Researchable – (Res.) Any item listed as Researchable is information that player characters who perform legitimate research are able to procure information on and use actively as a player-character within the roleplay.

Over World Rule – (O.W.R.) Any item listed as Over World Rule is information strictly for the players and participants. Player Characters are unable to know or learn this information unless stated outright by the Story Teller or Game Master. All Over World Rules are to be followed completely by players. Player Characters may have alternate views regarding the reasons and truth behind Over World Rules, and may even openly vocally disregard or lie about them in some cases. All Player-Charaters must follow these rules however.

General Information / Key Terms / Rules

Total Worlds in Effect – 1,042 (O.W.R.)

Confirmed number of humans who survived that Shattering Event – 7,421,928 (O.W.R.)

Confirmed number of humans who survived the first week post Shattering Event – 4,291,552 (O.W.R.)

Average Population per habitable world – 250,000 to 500,000 (O.W.R.)

Largest Single Populated World – 4,200,000 Average due to heavy traffic in and out of the world (Res.)

World size – The largest crater world is roughly the size of Australia. There are 50 such worlds this size in effect. The smallest such world is roughly the size of Great Britain. There are 7 such worlds this size in effect. World Size varies from world to world. All worlds are derived from a piece of Earth and some point of such is located within each world. (Res. But limited.)

World Environments – All worlds have some theme to them. Elemental planes of basic elemental attributes do have their own world. Basic elemental attributes are the following. Fire, Air, Water, Ice, Lighting, Earth, Metal, Death, Molten Earth, Nature, Wood. All worlds started with the local residents who there when the Shattering Event happened and additional new post shattering cultures. All worlds are surrounded by an impenetrable mountain range that towers up to well past the reaches of the atmosphere and cannot be dug through. Although the sky and moons are present and visible, there is no way to reach the stars, as while the look is very much there, there is an impassible barrier that utterly shatters and removes all forms of matter, both physical and ethereal from existence in a very sudden and devastating manner. (O.W.R.)

The Chasms – Massive tears, cave opening, ravines, or other such openings in the Crater worlds, even in impossible places. These are the portals that connect the worlds together. most are small, a meager 2000 foot wide hole somewhere. Others... can be large enough for entire flying cities... if small ones... to fly through. The biggest most notable thing about the Chasms is how they work. Environmental effects such weather, bodies of water, and atmosphere typically avoid the openings, but gravity is always centered into the direct center of the Chasm opening, but only felt when actually start to pass by its entrance. Each Chasm is a void, a dead drop of about 800 miles straight down before you emerge in the new world. The inside of all of these voids could be described as an endless stream of shining ethereal lights of the cyan blue, deep emerald, and rose red hues providing light to the void for the duration of the fall. All lights start out as cyan upon entering, then go emerald for the majority of the fall, before going rose red for the final hundred or so miles of the fall. Although the chasms themselves are strictly two way portals, each way through it is its own void and so things do not collide when going back and forth between the worlds. There is a small zone directly at the opening in which things coming out can hit things going in however. How fast you travel through the chasm is directly affected by the means of travel. If merely β€œfree falling”, the top speed one can fall that 800 miles is the terminal velocity that one is capable of with ones body. There are many forms of magical and mechanical transit through the Chasms though, ranging from flying carpet, to gravity train. Of major important note however is that any speed you build up while in the fall will still be with you as you exit. As such Parachutes have become the biggest single need for most people when taking the Chasms if a proper method of transit is unavailable. For those with wings, flight is an easy way to slow ones decent and make a safe landing. For those with gravitational magics, the same is true. For those without, you had better be able to survive an impact or improvise. Most major worlds have a form of β€œTransit Station” on both sides of all chasms in their given world, to allow safe transit to and from the world as well as monitor access in and out of the world. Weapons fire and magic do not work within the void. Free fall melee combat is the only real form of combat viable during a fall. Time behaves differently with in the voids, but it is set in stone. When in a void from the chasms, Time moves at a rate of 7 to 1, as in 7 seconds pass inside the void, for ever second in the worlds. The effect of aging however does not occur in the Void. All forms of life passing through the void still require sleep, nourishment, and proper air and heat. All voids have a preset and solid temperature about them though, based on the average temperature based on the two worlds each chasm is connecting. For Reference's sake, the average human's terminal velocity is 122 M.P.H. (195 Km.P.H.) resulting in a fall at terminal velocity taking place for rough around 6 hours and 30 minutes. The fall doesn't kill you, but your landing can. (Res.)

Shattering Event – The Shattering Event is the 4 day period in which storms of black lighting appeared over 1,042 places on earth. The majority of which were over heavily populated areas. Over the course of 88 hours, the small storms grew and isolated entire regions. During the next two hours, the Shattering took place, in which all known laws of physics were torn asunder. Only a very few select individuals are able to recall the event as it happened. Colors made no sense, sound was impossible to identify, and all of reality seems to swim around with no form of control as they were battered from all sides and changed. After the Shattering Event was over, all humans who survived awoke changed in their new bodies, some lucky enough to have clothing and items on hand, others with nothing but their bodies in tact. (Res. But extremely limited.)

Magic – The use of magic is spread far and wide throughout the many worlds. It comes in various forms and shapes, ranging from ritualistic ceremonies, to runes, to spell weavers, to spell swords, and just plain blame the wizard. While magic is powerful, it can rebound and have disastrous results on mages and sorcerers alike. Magic has many schools just as there many ways to use and gather magic. Magic however typically does not pair well together with science and the two are usual at ends with each other. Any culture that typically uses magic as its base point is considered a mythical kingdom. Although many mythical kingdoms use magic, they also purchase and use basic and simple technologies developed by science. (Know.)

Science – The use of intelligence to create machines and manage the understanding of most things. Science is the way of many men and the vast majority of Science started on Earth before the Shattering Event. After 400 years, Science is still advancing, although in strange ways and in strange patterns and time frames. Massive sky scrapers and trains and cars are common forms of Science at work. While fire arms are common in some cultures, due to how frequently fights up end in melee combat as it is, fire arms are considered secondary weapons used to open a fight rather then win them and fire arm development has taken a serious drop. Tanks and other heavy siege weapons are still in use and production however, if changed to include forms of melee armaments. Fire arms are still common in many modern kingdoms, although mostly in hand gun and shotgun form, rifles slowly becoming more antique and becoming something of a collectors item. Any kingdom that uses Science as its basis is considered a modern kingdom. Many people of science still use simple magics and magical devices for convenience however. (Know.)

Techniques – Where magic is a thorough form of power used by magicians, many warriors and common folk are still able to use and muster a different form of power to get things done. This is the action of Techniques. Any form of non-magical abilities that go beyond just simple things are techniques. For instance, a lizard can have poisoned scales or spines, and that is just something they have. For that lizard to charge them and fire them like arrows that home in on a target, that is a technique. The same can be said for all forms of advanced combat abilities or other non-magical abilities, although many advanced techniques can be made to act like magic, such as a master swordsman adding a fire or ice element to his attack. All Techniques are primarily physical in nature, but can induce elemental and status effects to attacks. Not all Techniques are of the combat variety however. For every one that can be used in combat, there is another that can be used for daily life, such as boosting one's physical strength to let them move more things at once, or improving one balance, or even to help boost ones ability to perform other tasks, whether they be just cooking and performing daily chores, or actively helping them with their work, allowing a smith to infuse extra properties into their products for instance. Although most People of Science and People of Magic can use and master some techniques, only People of Power and People of Physical Actions can truly master the Art of Techniques. (Know.)

Timeless / Time Locked – A key word used to describe a special attribute that is applied to certain objects. Timeless is used in conjunction and applies to living creatures. Time Locked is the term when applied to objects. In either case, both instances of the term mean that something is devoid to the rules of time. If living, then this creature does not age, and thus cannot die of old age. They can grow older and older, advancing through time like everyone else, but old age cannot take effect on them outside of extremely powerful and potent magical curses. When referring to an object, the object exists outside of the rules of time, cannot suffer wear and tear brought on by time, and is typically indestructible. Only a very limited number of spells and abilities can alter a Time Locked object. Although hard and very time consuming, taking well over a year to complete, the Time Locked status effect can be permanently applied to objects by select mages able to manipulate time. (Know.)

Resurrection – A powerful from of magic or divine ability, death is not permanent, however there are some very clear set in stone rules and regulations involved with the act of resurrection. When one dies, a Death Timer is started. As this timer ticks down, the chances of being resurrected in full decrease. For mortals, this timeline is fairly generous. Upon full death, a mortal has around 30 days to be resurrected. There various means to extend this dead line however. Preserving the body, securing the soul, and even merely submerging the body in holy water can extend this timer considerably. Resurrection magic and techniques (limited to those of divine linage / ancient) are lengthy rituals however. Those with the ability but inexperienced can still take up to a full 24 hours to perform the rites. If experienced greatly though, this ritual can be performed in about 12 hours, 10 if truly experienced. It is best to perform resurrection as fast as possible. The longer it takes for a mortal to be resurrected, the more things that happen. Standard effects of resurrection include fatigue, the Mark of Death, and minor memory loss. The longer one spends dead, the more these effects take hold. (Know.)

Mark of Death – A term used many major priests / priestess's to describe a weakness or sickness brought up by being dead for long periods of time. This leaves one weakened, without access to their greater abilities, and slowed. Those Marked by Death are also easy targets of Person of Death, Death's Reapers, and creatures of the night and demonic influence. Typically a Mark of Death lasts for roughly half the time a person is dead. The more preserved the body upon resurrection, the short this effect lasts. (Know.)

Ancients – The term Ancient springs froth form an insectoid empire that appeared after the Shattering Event, used first to mock changed humans for claiming to be from some other world and not merely just coming forth into existence. It is now the common term used to describe changed humans as the vast majority of changed humans have vastly lengthened life spans in all of their new and varied forms. Although most ancients merely lived to around 300 in age for those that lived to see a full life, there are still well over 1,500,000 Ancients alive as of the time that the 400 year mark has come around since the Shattering Event. Almost 600,000 of these still living Ancients have yet to see effects that could be associated with old age. (Know.)

Ancient Death Rites – While there are many spells and methods to help bring the dead back to life, Ancients are unique even among the already unique and rigorous rules of resurrection. If an ancient fully dies, there is a very short time spam in which the Ancient can be revived and brought back to life. This time frame is very strict however and must be done within 5 days. As most resurrection rituals take about 10 hours if done by professionals, or up to 24 if down by those with the ability, but are inexperienced, the time line is technically even shorter. However, when an Ancient dies, they being to lose their power after the first 36 hours of death, and a bit of power is always lost when they die. Within 48 hours of full death, about half the power of the Ancient is gone, and with in 72 hours, the Ancient is considered mortal again and only has abilities natural to whatever form the ancient had upon death. If an Ancient is killed and brought back to life at the very tail end of the 5 day window in which they can be resurrected, then the only power left with the ancient is merely their enhanced life span, and they will be crippled and marked by death permanently, weakened and always left tired. Outside of special relics and powerful godly magics, an Ancient can only be brought back to life 5 times, and any time spent dead stacks resulting in more and more loss of power. This Death timer can be slowly restored over time, at a rate of roughly 1 hour regained for every 4 years that the Ancient did not die again. There are very limited ways to maintain power an Ancient's power even after death, but almost all of them are considered very dark arts. (O.W.R.)

Ancient Dual Bodies – Where most Ancients were given a single new body and abilities after the Shattering Event, a special small group of only around 100,000 were given a very unique ability. Not shape-shifters in the traditional sense that they could change into other bodies or full animals, but they could change shape and did have a secondary body. All of these special Dual Body Ancients retained the entirety of their human body as their now secondary form, but also strangely the form that most of them are far more comfortable with. Their other form, or their primary form are their new true bodies. They come in all sorts of various shapes and sizes, but these special brand of Ancients are typically entirely mortal in their human form, but akin to demi-gods or greater in their true forms. Both bodies grow separately however and must be experienced and grew into in order to make full use of them. Although their mortal bodies remain human, they were still given various abilities that they can hone and train for use while in their human body. For some Dual Body Ancients though, being killed in their human body merely forces a transformation to their real body. This death induced change is not related to the Death Timer at all and has no adverse side effects. Being a Dual Body Ancient is extremely difficult however. While the mind and person who inhabits these two bodies are in fact the one and the same, the two bodies themselves have very different behaviors. Taste buds, what is considered comfortable fabric to be worn against the skin, sight and sound, smells, even preferred temperature to be considered comfortable are different between the two bodies. To make matters worse, clothing and gear does not change to fit both bodies at once unless heavily enchanted to do so. A small female with a petite build could be a Dual Body Ancient and her alternate form could be a 15 foot tall male lizard, now in shredded and torn rags when the change happens. The change itself typically takes place in a mere second, often accompanied by a bright blinding light. If it was a death induced change, this light can either create a small safe place to stand, just creating a shielded area if one was crushed under a bridge for example, or allows the Ancient to move to a safe place, teleporting to a spot where they can safely stand. If the latter of the two, most items and possessions are left in the original spot where this change has been forced to occur. Because of this, most Dual Body Ancients go to great lengths to acquire magical bags or pockets to carry things things safely, as well as carry proper attire for both forms. While changing from the human body to their new primary body which provides them with the majority of their power is easy, the reverse is much less true. In order to change back to a human, one must be in a calm state and able to meditate before they are able to return to their human body. There are some magical ways to force the change, but typically with some discomforting side effects including upset stomach, minor sickness, and unconsciousness. Major Notes of importance regarding Dual-bodied Ancients. Skill sets including any natural abilities, techniques, magic, and general stats such resilience / strength / senses / even spoken dialect are entirely separate between bodies. While some magics and techniques can be used in both forms by the same ancient, they are leveled different and used differently between the bodies. A major point of problem for all Dual-Bodied Ancients is the fact that they typically get use to how strong they are in their human form, and the thus when they gain great physical strength in their new primary bodies, they can easily start to unintentionally break things just by grabbing them and apply a grip far to strong as they are not usually aware of the change in physical strength that they possess. It takes heavy levels of restraint and learning as well as practice for a Dual-Bodied Ancient to adapt and adjust to have two different bodies, as well as openly use them both separately. (Res. But very limited and heavy on speculation. If the Player-character is a Dual Body Ancient, then this knowledge is slowly revealed over time and may be shared with others. Typically, most Dual Body Ancients prefer to hide this kind of knowledge however.)

Post-Shattering Cultures – When the Shattering Event was said and done, and all the new worlds have come into existence, only really humans and a few other earthen creatures remained, most of them heavily changed though. In their place, thousands of new creatures, both sapient and otherwise also came into existence. It is unknown how all these new creatures came into being, but those of self awareness either quickly picked up how to live, or they died out quickly pondering their own sudden pop into existence. All of the new beings that were spawned all started off the same for general purposes though. Collections of large groups ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand were spawned in all at once, with only some basic clothing and very very few times some tools. These groups were all spawned in with a various collection of adults and a very much considerably smaller number of children among them. In any case, all of them had very advanced knowledge of who and what they were, but there is nothing before the event. Many of these post shattering cultures have come to terms with their sudden appearance and lack of history, although the insectoid empires and their more hive mind like cultural set ups have lead to them being the quickest to adapt. It was even the insectoid empires that first started to use the term ancient to describe humans who were from earth, although in a mocking manner for the lot of them thinking that earth even existed and that they had a history before the shattering event. In any case, all post shattering cultures share 3 distinct things in common. They have no history before being just whisked into being once the Shattering Event had taken place. They all started with next to nothing aside from very thorough basic understanding of their own cultures imprinted in their minds upon being born from the event. And finally, the only things that they had to start with upon their creation were just their physical bodies and abilities, only a few given minor tools at best. (Res.)

Undead – While there are numerous forms and kinds of undead creatures, many of which that can infect the living to increase their number, these creatures have great flaw by default. The vast majority of undead creature do not handle the chasms well. As a result, most undead creature that cross the chasms typically are drastically weakened and will eventually lose their ability to spread the undead trait further. There are some β€œdead” worlds in which the dead, mostly zombies and the various related creatures, have fully infected and taken over the world. The chasms themselves though act as a natural barrier to contain the undead in general and thus unless a new plague or entity causes a secondary strain of undead, the plagues and curses which cause undeath do not spread well. A quick cure even to help one who has been infected with such a curse or disease is to go through a chasm a few times. If one can survive two or three falls, then typically one will not turn into the undead, even if they may still die because of the infection. (Res.)

Dialect – Over the past 400 years, both written and spoken Dialects have changed heavily. So-called modern dialects, both written and spoken have been mostly lost now. Almost all spoken and written dialects are changed and now reflect a great new age. As such any relic from earth written / recorded / designed in an earthen dialect is a thing of the past and almost all people cannot read it. Some ancients though remember and recall the old dialects though, and some make great use of them. (Res.)

Lost Recipes – During the Shattering Event, many many recipes were lost to the event. Due to the sheer amount of prepared food normally provided across earth, the majority of people did not know how prepare many things from scratch. With so many real cooks lost in the event, many fancier dishes have been lost. Cheesecake, smores, and other fancy dishes have long since been forgotten, but some ancients still remember them, if either not having remembered how to prepare them without the box they came in, or merely being unable to find ingredients to their liking to remake them. There are some preserved cook books from before the event, but due to massive changes in dialect, they cannot read or understand the recipes. If an ancient is able to still actively read such dialects though, they could possibly remake the recipes. One of the biggest problems with Lost Recipes however is that for food, some ingredients have been lost or changed so much, that they do work well. Almost all of the earthen cows have been replaced with something else entirely, and while milk is still present, it is clearly not the same in many ways at all. There is one chef however that supposedly knows almost all of these lost recipes and merely needs the ingredients to remake some of the dishes. Some of these ancient lost dishes however have gained some unusual effects. Additionally, while soda pop is still a very common beverage and many places have begun to make their own iterations, almost all of the soda pop recipes from earth have been lost. A number of recipes do exist however and can be remade. (Res.)

References and Imitations – Throughout the thousand new worlds, there are many references and things that look like many other things from old earth media. Some characters have merely chosen to straight up take on the moniker of characters from old earth media, some cultures have built their colonies and cultures in the images of even more old earth media. There are many new creatures that also may act like old earth media creatures, but there are very very clear differences between the new imitators and the originals. Only Ancients can tell these references though, and only those that remember the original source material. Some characters however have been so thorough in their imitation however, they have become that character as far as they are concerned and may not even remember who or what they were prior. For most characters who have done this, they did so as a means of defense, latching onto to something familiar to maintain their sanity, and then becoming lost in the costume until at last they became the mask they wore. After fleeing Alexia’s table in fear for his life, he sat at a table far away but close enough he could over hear their conversation. Though there really wasn’t much to overhear. Mostly that Sam used a spell to calm him down and she wanted him to find out more about her destination. The rest of the night passed without any trouble. He managed to eat a pizza and down about two pitchers of soda before heading back to his room.

The dragon still wasn’t happy about having to share a room with Red. He didn’t trust him and he had a dislike of his taste in magic. So, he activated his armor, modified so it would be dull and not damage anything and went to sleep.

-x-

The sound of the phone woke him up earlier than he would like. His armor dissolved away as he reached to answer the phone. β€œHmm, hello?”

β€œHello, this is your wake up call requested by your employer. They ask that you meet them in breakfast lounge 4 in 15 minutes.”

β€œOh, thank you. Good bye.” He heard a click on the other end then hung up the phone.

β€œWake up Red. Time to have some breakfast and chat with out boss.” Without waiting for a reply, he used the bathroom then headed for breakfast lounge 4.

He met Red on the way to the lounge and spotted Holo and Sam approaching. The smell coming from the lounge made his mouth water a little. As they went inside, he expected to see their feline employer but instead was a male human.

As he got some food, the unknown human spoke. "Alexia sends her regards. She will occupied for a while and not with us. In her place, I am Valen. All that you need to be aware of right now is that my word is the same as her word." He explained, clearly far more observant then Alexia, looking over each them heavily, looking for details. "You are free to ask questions, but remember. If myself or Alexia say that a subject is off-limits, then the question will be dropped." Valen stated. "I've attempted to make a fair deal of breakfast and snack items please enjoy."

Holo spoke first. Asking if there will be one more for the trip than expected. He did find it odd that he and Alexia wouldn’t both be present but maybe they were just business allies and not friends otherwise.

Once Holo and Valen finished their conversation, β€œFirst, thank you for the food. And second, where is the scary cat lady? I wanted to apologize for last night. She was scarily pissed.”

"I'll be sure to pass your words to the scary cat lady when I meet her again." Valen stated rather bluntly as he pulled out one last batch of biscuits, as well as few other things, small experiments of his since he had a chance to do some home cooking on his own. "And yes, she is angry, and you would do to remember that." Valen continued. "Cheddar biscuits in this batch, nova spices used on everything on this plate, eat at your own risk of burning off your tongue and throat, and basic homemade cooking with syrup filled pancakes and other such pre-shattering breakfast fast foods done right on that tray." Valen stated after a few, clearly working on one more thing, what looked like a giant batch of grits with some spices that he was keeping an eye on and prepared some containers to pack and cool right away on the side. "So, any other questions? Or do I get lucky and this is kept short?"

Red was far from foolish enough to sleep in the same room as the dragonoid. Luckily, he didn't have to. As the morning rolled around Red stepped from the crimson room, pushing out the fridge behind which his door was set. Shutting the door, letting it fade back in an old stain of blood on the wall, he pushed the fridge back into place and walked out into the room.

β€œWake up Red. Time to have some breakfast and chat with out boss.” the dragonoid greeted him with some news, clearly not aware that he was definitely awake, not to mention he was never asleep anywhere near him the first place. Little oversights.

Red stepped into the hallway where the rest of them flowed into the chambers as requested. Who awaited them was not Alexia but instead a man who was a bit taller in stature. He seemed to be taking each one of them in visually, scanning them thoroughly as they entered. Rather than approach the table where this man had set out various breakfast items Red went over to lean on the wall near the door, crossing his arms and taking the man's appearance in as well.

"Alexia sends her regards. She will occupied for a while and not with us. In her place, I am Valen. All that you need to be aware of right now is that my word is the same as her word. You are free to ask questions, but remember. If myself or Alexia say that a subject is off-limits, then the question will be dropped. I've attempted to make a fair deal of breakfast and snack items please enjoy."

Red made no move for the food, nor did he care. He did not need to eat as mundanes did and nothing here was particularly new. Instead he kept his focus on the man who was stepping in on behalf of Alexia, supposedly. In his line of work Red knew that any sudden and unexplained changes always had hidden caveats. His expression remained one of casual aloofness but he regarded this man with a fair grain of suspicion.

"As of this moment, you will only have four persons in your care for this trip at any given time. More may be recruited, but myself and Alexia will not both be present. She will return just before we make the crossing to her home world. When she returns, I will return to my own duties as well."

He had the comportment not to grin but he started seeing at least a part of the picture. Valen was quite poor at masking the fact that he and Alexia wouldn't be seen in the same room together. Like a bad liar he was covering details no one would of asked for some time, bringing attention to the idiosyncrasies of his arrival and her disappearance. Red wasn't about to start drawing up any conclusions but it was certainly interesting that it's expressly stated that he and Alexia will not be seen together, like as if they were stuck in opposite sides of a mirror.

"I'll be sure to pass your words to the scary cat lady when I meet her again. And yes, she is angry, and you would do to remember that."

That was an awfully interesting thing for Alexia to mention to her colleague when they swapped out. It left Red to wonder what else Alexia discussed with her previously unmentioned right hand man, that is, if they discussed any of this at all.

"So, any other questions? Or do I get lucky and this is kept short?"

Red simply chuckled lightly.

"No. I'll take the luxury of assuming your associate Alexia disclosed our private contracts amongst the wealth of other closely held thoughts she relinquished to you."

He casually waved a hand aside whilst folding the other behind his back. A strange bruise had started to form along the middle of his palm, the discoloration forming along a specific series of unseen lines. Few would be foolish enough to say Red wasn't often prepared for many outcomes in any situation.

"Also, I noticed the threads you left about the room... Rather simple I must say."

Valen just nodded a bit as Red said his small piece now. "Those... threads... are anything but simple. But I must say that either I'm slipping or you can see things beyond the standard mortal realm of sight. I wonder how many you saw, and how many you can see." Valen stated slowly turning to face him again, barely giving a partial second glimpse at the spider web like network of threads throughout the entire room all connected to Valen, thousands of them in a web, some clearly the same thread, but ultimately impossible to tell. "Unlike Alexia, I am mortal. I will be far more cautious not to enter battle directly. But my weapon of choice, although weapon may be a strong word, allows me to operate entire battlefields as a whole. I don't needs eyes or ears, I feel anything within a kilometer. Additionally, those threads are stronger then diamond and even dampen spell effects. You may have heard of the other name I go by, Spider. There is a reason why Alexia trusts me so much, but I'm not prepared to disclose that information. As I've already said though, she trusts me enough that our word is the same. We for the most part share common interests, that right now include the collection of information that will allow her to make a stand in Zelos." Valen explained, moving back to the table, a few trays following him as he started to pack up some spare goods for the road.

"She did make mention that you were the intellectual type however. No doubt you've already seen other things of importance. The task remain the same. We are to continue on by way of Keith's Bay to the Jungle world where she will see to your safe passage to her home where she needs to gather some things. I have paid for the room for the next few hours, so if there is any kind of ration you want for the road during this trip, I have this feeling that this is the best kitchen we will have access to for a while. If you don't like my cooking, then deal with it now. I barely sleep so I entertain myself in other ways, like cooking. If you have requests, I'm open to listening." Valen explained. "I am almost always free to ask questions of, but as already stated, like Alexia I may say that some questions are to be dropped. I would like to be in Keith's Bay in a day or two. Although a wagon will be a bit larger then usual for travel, if we keep up a strong pace, we can travel a fair distance everyday. If we start that strong pace as soon as we leave, we can reach the chasm to Keith's Bay tonight, and possibly take a slow train to give us a nights rest allowing us to get to work right away in the morning. I don't want to linger here however. We're safe enough in the hotel, but it would appear that word of a major attack on a crusader train station has caused a stir. The Crusaders are looking to ramp up recruitment as well as find the attackers. They are inspecting everyone of power, something I will be hiding and I suggest you all attempt to do the same, much like Mr. Red here. The single saving grace to our favor is that word is slow to spread from world to world. I'm sure Alexia would prefer to make it to Zelos before things get out of hand and they step up security too much. Let us not keep the demon cat waiting too long."

Holo just nodded a bit, trying one of the biscuits as she listened. "Well now... you certainly have a way with words. A bit long winded, but very strongly and properly put." Holo smiled. "Very well, as long as I'm getting paid just fine and my interests will be protected as originally agreed, I'll continue as we are. I know Sam would never steer me wrong on a deal, so I'll choose to follow him for now. This causes no problems I hope."

"I trust Samuel, and Samuel trusts Alexia, although he trusts us both in different ways. I did introduce the two after all. You can follow him all you like, he does a good job of helping keeping the peace, and much more importantly of helping to keep Alexia from racking up too much of a death count. She does get a little emotional, something she hates dearly and doesn't exactly have enough control over as she puts it." Valen stated. "Speaking of Sam though, is there anything you would like to add to this. I do try to let you have your say in things, we both know how Alexia can be."

"Just a bit." Sam said, taking a sip of his soda. He took a bite of his food before saying "Should we get into a fight, and Alexia starts to get...over excited, I will tell you to run. Red, Holo and Ravyn, if you hear me say this, do it and do not look back. Alexia is, by far, the fastest of any of us. Should she go into a frenzy where she can't discern friend from foe, the only course of action to get her to stop is to put her to sleep. I will take care of it, as I already have certain countermeasures. However, my reaction time isn't as quick as Alexia's, so the only way to know for certain these countermeasures would work is if I tested them out on Alexia herself while she is in a frenzy. I would rather not try it, but I also need to me assured any companion is out of the vicinity so I will not have to worry about them, regardless if they could handle themselves or not. The reason I bring this up is because, like Valen said, the more Alexia is exposed to sources of irritation, the more cautious we should become. If Alexia gets angry enough, she will rip a spine out without a second thought. You saw how Alexia got when we dealt with the crusaders before, it's only going to get worse the closer we get to our destination." He stated, taking another sip of his soda to wet his throat.

"Another thing, just something on myself. If we encounter a dragon, leave it strictly to me unless I say otherwise. Your jobs will be to make sure civilians are away from the fighting. In exchange, you may take what you want after the battle. Scales, hide, bones, blood and organs. I will take a small part, but the rest you may do as you see fit." He said. "Additionally, in case it wasn't clear, if we encounter crusaders blocking us along the way, let Holo do the talking. For starters, she's a woman, so big plus there as is. Second, her silver tongue is second to none, it won't take her a whole lot of effort to convince the crusaders that she's bringing us in as combat slaves to trade." He said, to which he pulled out iron collars with glowing symbols on them. "The symbols, while they radiate magic, are just for show. They're 'meant' to keep us in line for the markets at our destination, but they're easy to put on and take off, like so." He said, slapping on an iron collar around his neck before pulling it off just as easy. "Snap on, snap off. Easy. This'll make it easier to get us in given the small chance there's someone who can withstand Holo's honeyed words." he chuckled "Whether you want to go along with this plan is up to you, but I figured it' make it easier on all of us, but it's a group choice."

Ravyn made sure to avoid any food that was made with nova spices. Spicy foods didn’t agree with him. On the other hand the pancakes and syrup were delicious. He finished off a stack of 5 rather quickly.

As the conversation continued, he was surprised he didn’t notice the diamond like threads about the room. Too distracted by the spread of breakfast food to notice. Interesting ability.

After he finished eating his food, he took out his Explorer’s map and created a page for Valen. Making sure to note down that thread ability and everything else that was mentioned. Including the other name he was known as.

He listened to the plan to leave and head for Keith’s Bay within the next day or two. The possibility of taking a slow train through the chasm sounded quite nice. Especially since the closer they got to crusader HQ, the more stressful it will be. So why not enjoy the rest while they can.

β€œI don't want to linger here however. Red here.” Valen said. Definitely a good idea to get going as soon as they can. Though they could fight and escape, he wasn’t too eager to go up against them if they found out who they were.

As the conversation continued, he was given another reason to be weary of the scary cat girl, berserk mode. If she was scary when she knew friend from foe, he’d probably want to go back to his mother if she went after him when she went berserk. The dragon shuddered at the thought. The second Sam says to run, he’s going to be wings up and a safe distance away.

Talk of true dragons didn’t help either. Though his race called themselves dragons, true dragons hunted false dragons like him on sight. Not fun. Though collecting parts of a dragon that Sam has taken care of did sound interesting. He would definitely have to collect a decent amount of everything. Not just because it can be valuable but also for his race to research defenses against true dragons. Not that they have to worry about that from how far away their world is from the true dragon worlds.

if we encounter crusaders blocking us along the way, let Holo do the talking. For starters, she's a woman, so big plus there as is. They 'meant' to keep us in line for the markets at our destination, but they're easy to put on and take off.”

β€œI don’t have any issues but could I possibly play Holo’s servant and bodyguard perhaps? Or personal slave and bodyguard? If not I can still play combat slave.” It was true he would still go along with that plan, he didn’t really want to play a combat slave.

Holo just listened in like Valen the entire time the others were talking enjoying a few samples of the meats and the biscuits very much enjoying them, before at last Ravyn spoke again. "Now now my youngling, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Word of my travels have spread far. I do occasionally deal in slaves, so my dragon there is onto something. I have never however had need of a bodyguard or personal slave. For this trip along the passage of Keith's Bay, and any crusader groups beyond, you will have to be slaves. Don't worry, I ensure that you won't be sold, it will be easy enough to write up a contract saying I'm just transporting you all and that you all have a buyer already." Holo smiled picking up one of the collars to inspect. "There are some names I can list on the contract who the crusaders would never dare to challenge, or at least the smart ones would never bother to look into. Cazado Logu is one such name and the crusaders know very much better to ever ask the elemental any kind of question, it hates them. Plus it knows that some crusaders already hate me and have lied to him before just to try and get it to kill me. He would not give me issues though, I do my job too well. Those collars will do nicely though, grand work as always my dragon." Holo smirked some as she finished inspecting one herself while she talked.

"Its decided then. We pose as slaves for now when on the road or at any crusader outpost. There should only be one on the way there, and that's not too far from the Holy Lands. Alexia has seen to it that they quit making camps on the chasm entrance itself and now they make their camp about a mile away, should be easy to sneak past. And as I already explained, Alexia will be waiting for you there." Valen stated as he finished packing up everything he had made that was left out. "The faster we make this trip, the better of we are. I've noticed some major talk of things already, word continues to spread from the tower of bones, the marker icon left behind on your way out of Gen Chari. Since we still have some privacy left, is there anything that any of you have found out about Zenos, so that I may collect write it down for Alexia to consider." He asked as he looked them over.

"I'm afraid that there were no crusader's in the market of worth all through yesterday and after such excitement, I merely went to bed when I arrived here. I'm sorry, but what can I say, I was hired for my silver tongue, and those beds are so wonderfully soft, I just passed out so quickly." Holo said, going back for some more bacon as well as snagging some more apples.

"Very well... Mr. Red, Samuel, Ravyn, do you have anything to add about the crusaders before leave the privacy of this room? I'd rather not talk about it on the road where prying ears could be near by so readily." Valen said.

The ride from Dreamer's Rest Tavern all the way to entrance of the Holy Lands was unexciting if anything. A meager five chasms all nagivated by fancy grav-trains, Alexia keeping her word on sparing no expense made the trip go by quickly.

Holo had personally handled her business in Keith's Bay quickly and efficiently as always with the banks there, the majority of her fortune now stored as she restocked her caravan with even more and far better fancy cloths that she stored heavily in magic boxes that were then stored in bags of holdings. As soon as Holo was done, the trip continued with ease.

Along the way, they had only been stopped a quick thirteen times by crusaders as well, most just asking about what Holo might be selling, the collars making the β€œparty” go fairly unnoticed as none of the caused any trouble, the one time that there might have been trouble Holo of course used her silver tongue to defuse quickly, and even got a large bribe in her favor, which she readily shared with the party, a set of discount tickets for the worlds famous Juro, that could further be improved if anyone could get the famed chef some selective ingredients.

All in all though, the party while having some minor points of small talk though, all remained mostly quite with little to truly talk about, aside from Sam and Valen who talked back and forth in some ancient tongue that the others couldn't understand, clearly discussing something, their privacy further improved by a spell that added a sound similar to static to mask their words in the old tongue.

Of course, it wasn't anything major, mostly just Valen explaining a few rules about the Holy Land in private to Sam, as well as detailing what all kind of spells were in effect, and how even the enchantments in the world were all partially time-locked making them so hard to get past without knowing exactly how access some more of the restricted sections of his home.

At last though, as they were nearing the chasm to the Holy Lands. They world they were in at the moment was nothing more then a giant mess of small stony islands and water, a dense fog over the world and hundreds of massive stone and wooden bridges connecting the islands. As they reached the halfway point though, Valen just got up. β€œI've left a detailed map with Samuel. He can properly guide you the chasm.” Valen explained as he let his strings and threads appear for a few, all of them flowing far into the fog as he looked out into the mess. β€œAlexia should already be waiting for you. If not, then wait for her in the clearing on the other end of the chasm. Sam will secure your passage including your wagon Holo. Do not venture past that chasm and try not to make a lot of noise if Alexia is not there. The … beasts... of her home world can tear clean through entire platoons of well armed Crusaders. The beasts have learned to fear the demon in Alexia, but it will be very important to be careful.” He stated as he got off the wagon and walked beside it for a few. β€œAnd I will state this again. DO... NOT... FLY...” He stated extremely firmly. β€œNot even an enraged Elder Dragon can withstand the deadly attacks that will befall you if you try to defy the world. You can glide with in reason, hover a few feet off the ground at best, but under no circumstances should risk flying.” Valen stated again, handing a large scroll to Sam, it containing the map. β€œI have work to do, and I can feel someone … something following us. I ensure you are not followed further. Make sure Alexia gets that scroll.” Valen stated before letting the wagon continue along as he stopped and then turned and started to walk back the way they came.

This left the party in the wagon alone for a while, but with Sam guiding them and following the map, they soon came a large island with a small hill on it, and just like the map detailed, there was a decent sized light house there leaning out over the chasm, the last leg of the trip to the Holy Lands taking less then an hour from when Valen departed. As they approached, the light house quickly shined a bright light over them, showing off the small chasm in the hill side, measuring roughly a hundred meters long and maybe half that wide, the lighthouse sort of centered along one side, just barely leaning over the chasm, magic holding it properly in place.

As they reached the edge of the chasm, several magical wards appeared, all clearly of crusader magic, hundreds of texts and prayers of the crusaders offering guidance and words of warning about where the chasm led. As they moved even closer, they could see a figure off walking up from the opposing end as well.

Alexia just looked over them all as they approached. β€œLet's make this quick.” She hissed a bit, clearly irritated and annoyed, fully dressed back in her hoodie and sweat pants, her hands in the large pocket on her hoodie, her hand occasionally shaking some out of her direct control, even if she attempted to hide it. β€œI assume that my ally has explained things fully to you?” She asked. β€œYou all know not to fly in my home world correct?” She hissed some, but ultimately Alexia just walked up to the chasm not really waiting for an answer. β€œSam will help you all land safely, I'm just going to dive in before you and will be waiting on the other side.” The feline stated, just jumping up well above the chasm, landing hard against the large light house tower that was built there, before using a power charge technique to propel herself like a rocket into and through the chasm as fast as she could.

With her speed, Alexia always had the lead as they all fell through the chasm, Alexia not even sparing any glances back as she made the dash through the chasm in a little over an hour, only even trying to slow herself when the chasm turned red.

It was still something of a high impact landing as usual, the feline smashing into a massive tree and cracking it, not even really following her own advice as she landed. She easily recovered though and just left herself fall to the floor of the jungle, quickly searching for a source of water and just moving into it, a strong blue glow appearing over as she soaked her feet in the large puddle at the edge of the giant clearing, Alexia taking a few to look over this large clearing since she so rarely used this passage.

It was very large and spacious along the outer edges of the world, the trees around the clearing an easy kilometer tall if not twice that high, the chasm buried deep in the walls of the crater's edge, several times larger then the chasm entrance on the other side.

In any case, it did not take long for the others to arrive though, Alexia slowly looking over them, still glowing a strong blue as she was finally fully relaxed, not even a trace of anger on her face, the feline looking entirely calm as she slowly pulled her hood back. β€œWelcome to the lands I call home.” She said softly, calmly even just looking them over as they landed.

-x-

Holo just watched as Alexia met there and said her piece. Of course she could notice the shaking some from Alexia's hands hidden in her hoodie, even noticing how tense her tail and ears were beneath her skirt and hood. She would have spoken up, but Alexia just jumped off the lighthouse and blasted through the chasm at some very powerful and strong speeds, Holo fulling understanding the warning about how Alexia was most likely the fastest among them. β€œIs she always like this Samuel?” Holo asked, Sam slowly giving a nod after a few. β€œI see... well we should probably not keep her waiting for long. How do you propose to help us land safely now my dear dragon?” Holo asked looking to Sam as he took several steps away from the others.

The trip for Sam was more or less uneventful for Sam, much like the rest of the party. Most of the time he listened to music of the old world, though he made sure to keep his hood up to hide his earphones. Whenever they encountered a group of crusaders, he made sure to turn them off and listen carefully to how the conversation progressed. He didn't lack trust in Holo's abilities, he merely had made a habit of expecting the worst of most situations. Still, he was thankful for the peaceful ride, considering how many crusader groups they had encountered and parted with without conflict. When they finally came to the chasm, he nodded to Alexia when she posed the question.

"Well, thankfully there's always a decent amount of 'chasm' free space before landing, so some of my normal power should be more than enough." One of the aspects of his power was the ability to change the mass of any objects. In this case, changing the mass of Holo's cart and herself would be more than sufficient so long as he did it at the last moment. Of course there was also the takeoff issue, which wouldn't be a problem either. "Alright everyone, I'm gonna need you to take a seat in Holo's cart. It'll be much easier to take off if all of your mass is together." he said. However, Red stated he'd rather just jump, and did just that. Ravyn did much of the same, making Sam shrug. After Holo got in the cart, he put the horses into stasis so they wouldn't get excited and cause an accident during the start of the sequence. He pressed his hands against the back of the cart and the it became surrounded in a blue energy. He lifted it off the ground with ease, the weight nothing now before he leaped up against the lighthouse like Alexia had. He kicked off the lighthouse, increasing their speed with a burst of his power and sent them flying into the chasm, though not as fast as Alexia had done just moments before.

As soon they entered the chasm, Sam's powers became null and void, and the horses started struggling a neighing in distress. "Keep them calm, Holo!" he said, not wanting them to hurt themselves mid-flight. Thankfully, no injuries were had, and as soon as they exited the void and his powers were usable once more, he negated the mass of the cart and the horses, making any impact the landing would've had null. After making sure the horses were fine, he patted one of them and took a breath of relief. He looked over Alexia before looking at the lands behind her "Well, those are some hostile smelling lands." he chuckled. "Lotsa fighting and killing...no wonder they have to send literal armies to get through it." he whistled. "So, is there a super secret path that's safe or are we gonna be on our guards 100% of the time?" he asked, looking over to Alexia.

The trip from Dreamer’s Rest Tavern started off easy. The blue dragon tried to spark up some conversation to learn more about them. At least until he heard a chime coming from his map signaling a message arrival. β€¨β€¨β€œOh nice. A message form home.” He tapped on the message and began to read it. Each line he red his expression fell more and more until tears started to flow. β€œI…I need time to myself. He was still a hatchling…” Ravyn’s armor flowed over his body and wings. The normally glowing eyes on his armor dimmed. His map slipped from his hand and he said no more.

The message from home read as follows. From Brynt. β€œBrother, I’m sorry to tell you this way instead of summoning you back home but we all know how important it is for you to be out among the worlds. We took him to the doctor when he became sick. They tried everything within their powers but the sickness took its toll and he passed away several days before this message was sent. My wife and I traveled with him to the central spire for the funeral rites. We know you loved him as though he was your own and will miss him terribly. His name was etched into the entryway of the central spire for all those who visit to pay their respects. We decided to give you the toy you gave him when he hatched, a stuffed dragon plush. It was his favorite toy and he would have wanted you to have it. We placed it on top of your dresser in your room. See you soon brother and good travels.”
The message ended.

He spoke little on the trip through the first chasm and ate even less. Most of the conversations were ignored aside from important instructions. The dragon stayed in his armor for the majority of the trip. Only having it fade away when he needed to play the part of a slave. Even then he said nothing.

Finally they neared the chasm to the Holy Lands. He heard Valen talk to them but ignored most of it aside from something that was relevant to him. β€¨β€¨β€œDo not venture past that chasm and try not to make a lot of noise if Alexia is not there. Ravyn did wonder if that was meant for him but then Sam could also turn into a dragon.

He didn’t really notice when Valen left and only realized it when Alexia spoke in her annoyed voice. β€¨β€¨β€œI assume that my ally has explained things fully to you?” She asked. β€œYou all know not to fly in my home world correct?” Ravyn nodded once. β€œSam will help you all land safely, I'm just going to dive in before you and will be waiting on the other side.” The eyes on his armor glowed blue as he watched the feline jump up and into the chasm.

Like her, he stretched his armored wings and took off into the chasm behind her. Though not as flashy of a take off as her.

All he could do on the trip through the chasm was think. Think on the message he received from his homeworld and his memories of his nephew. Though that was just more of what he was doing since he received the message. He knew he would need to focus on the mission so he wanted to work out his initial grief and sadness fast. It wasn’t easy though he knew it wouldn’t be. But his allies are counting on him. He couldn’t let this get in the way. He would mourn more later.

Alexia was already there when his wings slowed his descent and allowed him to land softly on her world. Moments pass and the blood mage exits the chasm followed by Holo, her wagon, and Sam.

With a sigh he lowered his armor and looked around the so called Holy Land. Just looking at the dragon it appeared as though anytime he was in his armor he did little more than mourn for his fallen nephew. He rubbed the tears away and pushed the sadness aside. This world made him feel like a hatchling again. Though he would not admit that to any present. It gave off an aura of β€˜Careful little dragon. You’re prey here so watch your step.’ That warning of not flying above a certain height was a warning he would listen to.

The trip was pleasantly quiet, albeit slow for him. The dragonoid was irritatingly chatty until some news came up which thankfully silenced him. Playing the slave was not his usual style but luckily the trader was the main focus of conversation, not him. He wouldn't of found any issue fooling the crusaders were he on his own but his means were a solo act, not designed to accommodate company.

All in all however it was an uneventful trip. He had plenty of time to read in private, perhaps too much time for his tastes. The time they wasted eating and tending to other needless physical limitations ate up time that could of been used traveling. Hardly the most efficient crew he's had the fun of working with.

Eventually they did get to their first destination, the cat girl's home world it seemed. Amusingly Valen scurried off only for her to appear ahead of them, just as expected. She even had similar shakes to Valen for that matter. It was fairly evident at this point that she was likely a shape shifter of some type. This strange game of hers had yet to yield a point for happening however.

What was interesting were the details regarding both the beasts and the air of the world they were stepping into. The creatures sounded interesting though if the cat girl were able to cow these beasts then he figured they couldn't be all too dangerous. Despite all her feats thus far she had yet to demonstrate any skills or abilities that would command his respect.

The lighthouse led up to the chasm into the next world. Writings from the crusaders littered the passageway to the entrance, prayers and warnings for those seeking the goddess. Whilst the others were talking he figured he'd throw in some messages of his own. Pleasant little words to zealots seeking the love of their hateful goddess.

Blood magic runes enchanted to afflict those who read them.

The enchantments on the various runes he left about had a variety of effects. Some of them would rob a person of their senses, panicking them while removing their ability to distinguish friend from foe. Some of the runes would infect the reader with a lovely flesh eating disease which held the wonderful benefit of being contagious, carried on the breath of the infected. Some of these runes would slow the reader's blood to a still, stopping their heart dead. The remaining runes would simply strip the reader of their magical enchantments. There was one rune marked at the space closest to the light house's door, a rune designed to explode with a blast of dark magical force when the presence of holy magic approached directly under it. That rune was a little something in case the crusaders were cheeky enough to try and bring a healer, someone who would ruin the fun of the other runes he left.

Of course taking the time to leave these presents for anyone to discover to their misfortune meant that he was a bit behind as they started into the chasm. He wasn't all too broken up about them getting a head start since it meant he was alone as he worked, meaning only he knew that traps were laid there. He took off with a quick leap into the portal, his personal magic rendered inert for the period of his fall.

Upon leaving the chasm he flew at full momentum, crashing into the same tree that Alexia hit with a loud crack. He peeled himself out from the bark, falling to his feet upon the overgrown stone floor. Since his magic reignited immediately upon leaving the chasm his body wasn't so much as even bruised in all but a couple of spots. It seemed all it did was break his nose as a trickle of blood started down the top of his lip. As the crimson essence of life threatened to fall from his chin in drops that were starting to form the blood started running back up into his nose, flowing back into him while leaving not even so much as a stain.

With a soft crack he straightened his broken nose back out as the blood seeped back into him. With a mere whisper his body healed what little damage he suffered completely.

He looked over as Alexia greeted them, glowing blue and seemingly relieved of all the stress she had seemingly built up. All in all a good majority of Alexia's mysteries seemed to be a simple case of putting two and two together as he was fairly keen to deduce that the water she was standing in was the substance she craved this whole time. Overall it seemed there was little in this trip that was going to challenge his mind. If it kept up like so the book was going to be in his hands in no time.

"I must ask, does the air discriminate between creatures of this land and outsiders when flight is concerned?" He asked her, his mind cooking up potential ways to twist the laws of the land to his benefit. He was curious as to the beasts of this land and the properties of their blood. Finding a quick and easy way to extract that blood would allow him to store it away for study later so that he might draw upon their power or possibly find other interesting uses for it.

Plus it was oh so fun when he could mix work and play.

Holo just nodded at Sam's words, listening well to his instructions as she followed his words. "Very well. Lead the way." She said as she allowed Sam to perform his magic. Although it took a little of work to keep her horses calm in the chasm, she managed before at last they had all landed safely, Holo quickly caring far more first for her horses, only to have the smells of the land fully surround her. "Welcome to the lands I call home." Alexia's voice stated as they landed, but Holo was a little concerned about the land itself, letting the others speak some, allowing the smells and senses of this world to come to them fully. For the most part, it was all clearly just a thick jungle filled land, the smell of water and trees heavy in the air, but below that there was also a strong scent of blood that had been spilled somewhat recently, not in the past day, but perhaps just a few days ago, and there was lots of the smell in the air.

While everyone could smell it though, for Red, the feeling was more then just a smell. Although Alexia hardly cared for blood magics herself, there was many advantages to it, like some added senses for those who learned to use them. If the bloodmage had taken the efforts to learn and use such senses, then he could feel the land was still ripe the blood wherever the water had not yet washed it away, if splattered a bit deep in the soil, this entire land having seen thousands of battles over the centuries.

"This land does have a bloody thirst to it yes. Anyone familiar with the rumors knows of the bears and boars here. While they can be easily taken care of, it is the predators that lay deeper within the lands who pose us a threat. Panthers and tigers are more concerning, but they tend to stalk their prey first. Stick close in a party and we'll be fine, they prefer to be a silent as possible and take out the stragglers. Even if you're looking for them, you're going to be hard put to follow them. I see them from time to time, but they never really jump you if they know you are aware of them. What does concern us are the raptors here. They are as big as any major mammoth and hunt in packs of six to thirty. The crusaders constantly send entire droves of their warriors out to find me. Raiding parties of a dozen or two dozen warriors and a few priests are the most common groups to be sent, but at times, the crusaders send a small war band out. The largest I know consisted of a little over two hundred crusaders. Parties like that get sent in almost every other month by one order or another, most of the time often aiding or accompanying crusaders from Zenos. Of all the crusaders sent here though to search for me, I can count the number to reach my home on just my hands alone. I find it amusing that of the seven who have made it to my home, that five of them were male slaves, not actual crusaders who made it my door step." Alexia explained slowly starting to move off along a barely visible trail, but making sure to give them all time to keep up and stick close, giving a small smile at the irony of her last sentence.

"The raptors are usually the first to start a fight, and then in the chaos other predators follow. They travel too noisily, attract far to much attention to themselves, make themselves easy prey for the raptors by trying to start a fight and run them off. We see a predator, we need to double our pace without trying to start a fight. They predators here will hunt us for a bit, before making any move. Thankfully the raptors only hunt the inner lands, so we won't have to worry about them long as long none of us bleed too much. The creatures here, they don't smell blood, but from what I can understand, they do see where blood will be slipped and that sets them into a frenzy. They have some kind of divining sense when it comes to knowing where a fight will break out and its never good. We just missed the blood moon so hopefully everything here will be sleeping that mess off which is why I was in a rush to get here so quickly. It will be the safest time we have to progress through the jungle." She explained, the others following along slowly. "As for the skies... the rules are simple. You fly, you die. Not much of a mess behind either, the air forcibly crushes you at first, and if that doesn't work, it takes more serious measures. Either way, the rules are clear. You can jump and fall without question, you can glide even. The air will let you scale and climb the walls the trees and even the crater walls as much as you want. You can hang ropes and swing from spot to spot, let yourself dangle from a rope anchored to something, but if you flat out try fly, to defy gravity entirely, you will suffer death. It doesn't matter the means of how you would fly. Magic, wings, science, its all same. I've seen mages try to hover in the air here and get suffocated, elder dragons have followed me and were ripped to shreds, helicopters just implode on themselves in shower of sparks and shrapnel. Gravity trains work, so that's how I know one can hover here, but I wouldn't risk it anymore then a few feet off the ground just to be safe. The trains are fine when they just rest a few feet off the ground like normal, but I've seen some of those heavy trains try to boost their power and just go over the trees. That was quite a display of fireworks. They must have been packing a full armored battalion in that train because I could see the explosions and hear the mess clean from my home in the middle of this land." Alexia explained as they walked, it having become very clear that any stress she had had before was entirely gone, even starting to walk with a bit of a comfort and ease, almost confidence in her body even, uncaring if someone saw. She did however make it a small point to keep her feet in at least some water, and so the blue glow she had shifted back and forth depending on how much water she was in at any given second.

"And what of this... this blood sensing ability? Do we need to be worried if we just so much as nick ourselves here? The smell of blood is already still lingering in the air after all." Holo asked once Alexia went quite, following along in her wagon slowly.

"My home is safe from the creatures once we make it. We need only worry about bleeding too much before we reach the coast. Its not the scent of blood that attracts them, its the action of bleeding. They see where blood is going to be spilled and that is what causes trouble. We have around 160 kilometers of land to cross before we make to the edges of the lake that surrounds my home. They won't cross the water." Alexia explained. "There should be a good stream up ahead that I've left a few small wooden barge like boats docked at a large pond that connects to the stream. It will let us make the trip the rest of the way with ease and fairly quickly. We'll take one and hopefully that will be that. Once we reach my home, it will be far easier to explain things properly. If you see any crusaders along our trip, I need a few alive... and in decent enough shape to walk and carry a message on their own. There should be a raiding party from Zenos in a week or two as well, so we'll snag a few of those survivors if we have to, but I need a few regardless. One will work, but most things really don't live long alone here in this world." She continued. "We can't stop now though. If you get tired, just drink some water. Go lightly. I don't know the full properties of the water as well as I would like even after all this time, but I can say for certain that the water will bring new life to you so to speak. It will help heal wounds, calm you, even repair many things if you leave them submerged. It doesn't work for cloth though. Leather and furs are washed extremely well in the waters, but they can still experience some form of water damages over time. It should keep us more then relaxed and fast enough to keep us going non-stop however." Alexia added.

"I... understand. I don't like this place though. I would be perfectly fine if we speed up a little. My horses may be work horses, but they can still hold their own in a race if it comes to that. They also seem to be sharing the same glow that you do yourself, is that the water at work?" Holo asked.

"It is. Non-sapient seem to be affected more quickly by the full effects of the water, for sapient, it takes some time for it to get started." Alexia said turning around.

"Very well. I don't trust this land, but I will stick to my words and the contract laid out by my trusted dragon. Hop in though, we're making this journey go by a bit faster. You can guide me or take the reigns if you so desire. I would feel safer on a boat here then on my own feet." Holo stated, Alexia nodding and allowing the others to get on.

"Very well, allow us to expedite this trip then." Alexia stated, looking over Holo, seeing how even the smallest sound made her ears turn a bit to track it, as well as watching her clearly smelling the air a bit. "We can move a bit faster, but I would say that its safer to still only exercise a quickened pace rather then race through here. Fending off one predator is easy, none of us really need to worry, but we should avoid getting into a real fight."

The dragon’s ears lowered at the descriptions of all the predators on this world. There were so many. While he has been to some that were dangerous, this was the first one he’d been to where flying high would be death. He was starting to get nervous. Even with the others present.

The fact that all the predators on this world had a kind of sixth sense for where blood would be shed didn’t help either. Just being on this world made him…uneasy and frightened. The blue dragon was tempted to reactivate his armor. Still it wasn’t all bad. If he wanted the sensation of the wind beneath his wings, he could safely glide. Which could be nice. For now, feet on the ground. Though it may not make much difference, his scythe was on his back, blade out.

The farther they traveled and the more the creatures of this world were described, the more panicked he got. Though he did his best to hide it. Mostly successful. That was until…

"There should be a good stream up ahead that I've left a few small wooden barge like boats docked at a large pond that connects to the stream. It will let us make the trip the rest of the way with ease and fairly quickly. We'll take one and hopefully that will be that.” Alexia’s words helped him calm down a bit. Being around water has always helped calm him down. Well that and flying but since that was out, water would work.

Ravyn made it a point to step in every puddle they walk past. The water helped calm his mind and lessen his panic. Though it didn’t get rid of it completely, it helped clear his mind. It didn’t help to hear that Alexia didn’t know it’s effects on others even though this was her world. But she also said it takes time to affect sapients.

Even though Ravyn could hop onto the wagon, he opted to shift to his feral form and walk beside it. Still making sure to take advantage of any collected bodies of water. Even small ones which he occasionally drank out of.

β€œHow far away is this stream of yours?” His voice was deeper in his feral form but still held his usual curious tone. If with a hint of nervousness. Ravyn was very much looking forward to that stream and lake.

Alexia just moved the horses along for a few, before shrugging a bit. "I never bothered to set up markers and while I can find my way from place to place, I do not put too much effort trying to memorize the distances from place to place here when it all looks for the most part the same, without open landmarks. No more then a few kilometers, likely less." Alexia stated as she didn't care for the dragon's change in shape, it wasn't the first time she had met such a creature after all, nor was it strange.

"In any event, allow me to explain the rules of my home very clearly. We are headed for my airport. Its a large piece of land dedicated to the large scale application of maintenance and use aerial vehicles. While most of you have no doubt seen and understand that planes and helicopters are, do the restrictions involved with the chasms, you have only seen small scale aerial vehicles that were remade from ancient earth designs. These vehicles are subject to the rules of not being allowed to fly as everything, and you will leave them all alone. I care not if you want to look at them, or even use one to bunk down in. There is plenty of food, take your pick, but do not over eat, always leave some behind for others. You'll find that the food is always fresh and stocks itself in time, so while I won't care if you try anything, all of it being old earth foodstuffs, I will get picky if you try to eat it all." She stated looking around slowly, keeping an eye out for things as they moved while explaining the rules of her home.

"There are several spells in place, all amplified by the waters of this world to be time-locked. I've marked off each area of the complex I call with various colored rings and stripes by hallways and on the support pillars, as well as marking doors with stripes along the top and bottom. Green stripes and bands mean you may move around freely. I don't care about things there and you may look and explore as you wish. Yellow stripes and bands means you're entering an area that you shouldn't be. I've put green arrows on the floor to help guide you back away from someplace I would prefer you avoid. If you see any red stripes or bands, leave and head back to the main floor then and there. I value my privacy and will respect yours in turn. If you try to break into anything private, know this. You're in my domain, there is no place you can hide here. You own up to it, we'll talk. You try to lie and we have a problem." She continued, still looking around, but clearly following a path now, the sounds of water getting a little louder, tiny creeks and small trickles of water clearly gathering nearby.

"I've taken and gathered up multiple signs as well and re-purposed many rooms as well. The place has lights, water, power, and heat in excess. It has running bathrooms, all clearly labeled and fairly private, those with showers and bathes clearly marked as such as well. If you need food, look for the food and snack signs. There are some buffet like spots set up, and you are welcome to take snacks off carts as well. There is no translation on any of the bags of food or signs detailing what foods are in any given spot, it is all in ancient earth English. While your spells may translate direct and clear words properly, I doubt that will do any good however. Many words have changed meaning over the years and many of the ingredients have changed considerably as well. If you're feeling sick, drink the water, it cures poisons as well. At the end of the day though, eat at your risk. There are dozens of ancient earth spices there that were lost in the shattering event." She stated, finally speeding up a bit, seeing her dock up again as the sounds of flowing water got louder.

"Sam, help me get this cart on properly. My dock was not made for a cart this large. I rare use this path and chasm so I did not build this to accommodate large loads." She called out, Holo just nodding some and jumping over the side the assist Sam with getting the cart onto the barge. The dock itself was fairly basic though, aside from the two large wooden pontoon barges that were there, which were clearly hand made, if made in a strange style, two large circular disc like barges that has for lack of a better term fence posts and chains holding things in, a large post in the middle with a steering wheel and control panel of sorts in the middle. "The wagon needs to go in the middle up front." Alexia explained as she eased the horse up to the dock, the wagon just barely able to fit there. It took some work, but they did get the cart on the small barge at last, the wagon up front and tied down with some chains, before every one gathered on.

With that done, Alexia took them off into the large stream, the barge surprisingly fast for what it was, and very stable, if weighted just barely a bit in the front now. "Back to my home, other things that you need to know. One of the large open hangers is a fully gym if you need to exercise a bit. Another one serves to grow fresh fruit and other things. The towers and entirely off limits. I use one for my private bed room and if anyone enters that without my permission, I will start by breaking their arm." She stated very firmly, but thanks to the water, still surprisingly calmly. "You have an entire island to rest and relax on while I prepare and need to find a crusader to carry a message. If you get bored, I can arrange for some forms of entertainment, including ancient earth media, and some other things that died during the shattering. I am sure you can find something to do that will not interfere with my privacy. You may ask for other information as well, but I expect my privacy to remain intact. That includes not recording any details of my home, or sharing them with others, no matter the reasoning." She continued as they enjoyed a flat and simple ride along the stream.

"How... much ancient earth media if I may ask?" Holo asked as she stuck by her horse, surprised at how calm it was remaining, but blaming that the water as she looked around and helped keep an eye on things around them.

"Movies and books. While animated pictures of all kinds are still a thing these days, you can see how few books there are for personal entertainment over teaching. Additionally, I can present you with some form of electronic games. While the magic glasses of these days, these personal assistant and phone devices of the day do have some form of entertainment that can be downloaded, they are small in comparison to what they were based off from ancient earth. I also have some forms of music, and some ... other... interesting methods of entertainment. I have a large shadow boxing area, and some various shadow puppet and doll like armors that you can spare with. Be warned that if you tell them to not stop until they break your, they will listen. They are very simple in design, and listen to your words exactly for training. Give them very clear directions. I won't waste my efforts reviving stupid." Alexia explained as they moved along fairly quickly now getting a bit faster as the stream opened up a bit more, a few creatures coming into view from time to time, leaning over the side of the bank and taking a drink, clearly watching them as much as they were being watched.

Just as Alexia has said, every beast that they could see was as large or larger then Holo's wagon, and many other things. "Remember, don't pick a fight with them. They will not cross the water to my island, and I don't want any trouble right now. I won't be inclined to save you if you run off on your own." Alexia said, just keeping them moving along, only to hear some gun fire way off in the distance, Alexia slowing down and stopping the engine, the water moving them along slowly as Alexia stopped and looked around, seeing some smoke up ahead around a small bend where the stream was fed by another one. "Hmm... Could I be so lucky to have a few crusaders just fall into my lap here." She stated moving slowly up towards the smoke, a crashed tank seen down the path a ways, along with a number of freshly dead bodies visible by the smaller stream that was feeding into the main stream right now. "The barge wont make it down that far. Can any of you see this survivors... or any survivors?" She asked, keeping them in the middle of the stream for now.

"No... I don't see anything... or hear much of anything now." Holo stated.

"I suppose it is possible that we could have missed the fight, the beasts around here are all calm considering. Perhaps it was an automated turret... Sam do you see anything with your magic eyes?" Alexia asked looking over the banks, not see any of the beasts for now, those that had been taking a drink either too far back and around a bend or just hidden now.

Red followed along, listening to Alexia regale them with details regarding her home on the island upon the lake. He listened well but he definitely figured he'd be making little use of her provisions. He distrusted the water, not appreciating the prospect of possibly imbibing untested liquids with partially unknown effects. He could heal himself and was virtually immune to most diseases. Purging himself of poison's or venom was child's play as well.

Even the replenishing food was needless to his eye. If his hypothesis held true he'd have his source of nourishment under control in no time. As for entertainment he held little need to amuse himself with little distractions when there was research to be done.

For a while his eyes simply absentmindedly scanned the forest for anything of interest as he sat upon the boat they floated down the river on. Eventually however the scene of a battle came into view. A demolished tank and several dead laid askew with the sound of gun fire not too far off. That was just a side note, Red noticing the bodies right away. He was able to detect not only how many dead there were to a precise degree but he also could tell how long they've been dead by how fresh their blood is. He could taste it in the air from miles away and sense it from even further away.

With a gentle hop Red leapt a couple stories up, shortly falling back down a good distance from the river on the blood soaked earth. He walked among the bodies, examining the wreckage. The bodies themselves were fresh, rather uneaten for that matter. Whatever attacked them was not too interested in consuming the bodies currently that was for sure.

Not too far off there were footprints leading up the hill along the side of a small stream. There was blood spilt recently somewhere up the path. He didn't even need to use his blood sight to know where to find the remaining survivors.

He also didn't care. There were matters more relevant to his current interest, the bodies to be specific. He turned to the limp corpses and raised his hands towards them in a violent surging gesture. All the blood that was spilt ran up from the ground into the air, forming into a crimson ball just a few feet off the ground. Next up rose the flesh, peeling away from the bones of the bodies along with all the blood that remained within their freshly deceased meat.

With a short series of motions the flesh of those that died sheered into ribbons, macabre red strips wrought from the women of the eighth crusader order. He started to tie these strips together, forming a net of humanoid flesh strung together through his hemomancy. The blood from the orb he formed flowed along the muscle and skin tissue that the net consisted of, soaking into the tears and seams of the horrifically fleshy weave.

"Roboro."

He spoke his hemomantic spell, the blood infusing the flesh with the unholy power of the dark arts, strengthening it's material form. The net was now tough like steel yet flexible like rope. He estimated that it would be perfect for ensnaring one of these residential beasts. Looking upon his creation he almost overlooked the group moving ahead towards the hidden away crusaders. He quickly caught up, following along with his brand new gore-weave net in tow.

Sam helped the cart on carefully after applying some of his mass effecting power. He secured the cart with some rope before leaning against it and looked out over the side. As he listened to Alexia go on about the features and rules about her place, he twitched when she mentioned that there were a lot of old Earth food and spices there in replenishing stocks. "Definitely need to talk to her about that... Juro's number one requested ingredient is old Earth milk..." he thought to himself, but he'd inquire about it after they were safely at the airport.

When Alexia asked him to check what he could see, he replied "Only one way to find out." as he finished, his eyes started glowing a soft blue as he looked off into the distance. Thankfully, this spell was 'calibrated' for fauna lifeforms and not flora. If it detected both, he would have probably been blinded by the sheer amount of life, though despite this, he couldn't see far. "Hmm... too difficult to tell I'm afraid, there's too many creatures roaming about to get a good look." he sighed."It's like trying to spot someone you're looking for in a vast crowd, except everyone is wearing the same clothes.

However, he switched to his nose instead, following Red onto the battlefield and looked around, taking sniffs here and there. "Well, relatively recent, everyone here is dead... although.." he spotted a trail of blood leading into the forest. He judged that they weren't dragged off, otherwise the blood would have been a constant trail rather than a trail of blood dripped onto the ground. "Well, want to make a showy appearance?" he asked Alexia, looking over to her. Since this was typically her issue to deal with, it was best to let her how to decide to go forward. After getting a nod from Alexia, they started moving to follow the trail with Alexia leading. Sam kept a close watch out with his eyes for a potential ambush, though he had to do a quick modification to the spell so it would be more specific to creatures around human size. Despite this, the jungle was still quite dense with life.

It didn’t surprise him that Alexia was unphased by his change. Mostly because he did the same thing before. The dragon was curious if she ever met another of his race. He would have to ask sometime when she is…more approachable. Whenever that will be.

β€œAllow me to explain the rules of my home very clearly. We are headed for my airport. Its a large piece of land dedicated to the large scale application of maintenance and use aerial vehicles. The rules made sense and he planned to follow them. He doesn’t over eat but he would be sure to collect samples to store in cards to take home. Maybe there were some things they could replicate that hasn’t been done before.

You try to lie and we have a problem."

Again, rules that he had no problem with. Even back home, they respected private areas. Curiosity or not there were some things you don’t do without permission. Only the newly hatched are exempt because they don’t know better. The sound of water increasing in volume helped relax him and made him more excited to swim. Ravyn made sure to look around at the forest, making a mental note to put a warning on this world on his map. Basically β€œAvoid unless invited. Beasts here will eat you and if you fly the air will kill you”. He would follow the feline’s request to keep details to a minimum. Mostly just warnings to not visit along with zero mention of the things she wants kept off.

There is no translation on any of the bags of food or signs detailing what foods are in any given spot, it is all in ancient earth English.”

If he wanted to know what food names actually translated to, he could always ask Sam or the cat herself.

β€œIf you're feeling sick, drink the water, it cures poisons as well. At the end of the day though, eat at your risk. There are dozens of ancient earth spices there that were lost in the shattering event."

Another good thing to know in case there is some ancient food his race can’t handle. The mention of ancient earth spices also intrigued him. More things he would have to collect samples of. He made another note to ask Alexia what those spices were.

A rumbling purr came from his larger feral body. The sound of the water was quite soothing at this point. While his companions would travel by boat, he would swim beside them.

Once everyone along with the wagon were on the boat, he eased himself into the water. It would be stupid to do something that could capsize the boat. He doubted they would appreciate that. Being part water dragon, he was easily able to keep pace with the boat.

That includes not recording any details of my home, or sharing them with others, no matter the reasoning." The dragon’s ears perked up at the mention of ancient earth media. Depending on what that was, he would have to copy anything that would be of interest. Holo anded up asking the question he had forming in his mind. Apparently movies and books were on the list along with electronic games. The books and movies he would have to copy. The electronic games interested him as well. Maybe there were some fun ones to try out. With everything mentioned, he wanted to try it all though he wondered if he would have the time. Still, perhaps he would be allowed to return after their journey is finished.

It was interesting swimming on Alexia’s world. The beasts were frightening but interesting. The ones that he saw drinking from the stream he waved at. Though he knew they would happily eat him. Alexia’s recommendation of not leaving the island to explore was one he would follow. As proof of this Alexia discovered smoke from ahead and the sight of dead bodies.

Ravyn swam to the edge and walked out of the lake along with the others. With all the beasts in this forest, would there be any living survivors by the time they reached them. He followed behind Alexia with his armor spreading along his body for protection. Hopefully they didn’t run into any problems but at least he was protected if they did.

Alexia just watched as the others excluding Holo started off towards the remains of a battle. Alexia looked over towards Holo. β€œStay here and keep the raft close. Keep it towards the middle of the stream and you should be fine. If something does show up, use the pistol looking thing beside the console. It's a magi-flare designed to disrupt gravity as well as give off a lot of noise and light. Make sure not to let the flare hit the raft, it about quadruples the pull of gravity in any given spot and will sink the ship.” She explained, Holo just looking to the small console.

β€œAnd how do I operate this thing?” She asked.

β€œEasily enough. It's just a rotational motor column that controls a twin propellor system set between magical barrels. The wheel determines direction, the lever controls speed, and three switches control the anchor. This one raises it, this one lowers it, and this one makes it deploy a few extra spikes if it can’t catch anything easily.” Alexia stated.

β€œI see… very simple.” Holo stated.

β€œSimple is best.” Alexia stated before hopping off the boat and onto the jungle floor once again, her quiver hidden underneath her dead coat ejecting a singular sphere. She could smell the blood in the air from Red’s work and now had to wonder how that might affect the creatures of the jungle. It was technically the spilling of blood after all, but Alexia had never seen how the creatures of her homeworld interacted with blood mages before.

In any event, she could see and hear the others moving, quickly following along now as she wanted to make sure that these crusaders were kept alive, if any of them still were at least. As she moved though, she jumped up into the trees and jumped from tree to tree to get ahead of the others, or at least fully catch up as she grabbed onto one of the trees for a few to look around as best she could, see the body of an insectoid scarab beast on the ground, along with a bipedal insectoid. β€œThat explains the lack of blood lust right now… Insectoids don’t really have blood…” Alexia said more to herself than anyone else, only to spot movement down below towards a small cave. She just dropped down, her and Red the closest for now, and Sam wasn’t far behind, Ravyn bringing up the rear for now as she moved towards the cave.

As she moved closer though, she caught a glimpse of something else, the glimmer of something using magic to hide from sight, Alexia looking over the place slowly, and quickly finding another bipedal insectoid using magic to try and hide, only it didn’t do it a lot of good. As it prepared to jump at Alexia though, she just pinned its head to the tree with her spear before ejecting another spear to use before turning back to the cave, only to hear another shot, feeling a tiny sting as her turned and looked at her side, at her coat, the small caliber round just sitting on the floor, not even leaving a mark on her coat as she turned to face the cave, three crusader’s hidden away in it, only one standing, and holding a pistol.

β€œNow that just makes me angry.” Alexia hissed turning, showing off her form if just a bit to get the point across about who she might be, but more importantly, distracting them for others to capture under her direct super vision now.

The armored dragon followed the others along the beach, past the slain insectoids. To be honest, he hated bugs. Aside from the sapient ones. Those he liked. They were friendly and good traders. These…were just…no. He wanted nothing to do with them. He said nothing as he followed the group. Mostly since they were tracking possible crusaders, he didn’t want to possibly scare them away. Though he was less dangerous than what lived in the forest.

He could sense some magic in the air and could even tell the direction it was coming from. Just not the exact location. Before he could mention it to Alexia, she shot it in the head and stuck it to a tree. An excellent shot that made him not want to get on her bad side…ever.

β€œNow that just makes me angry.” Alexia’s hissed words would have made his feathers stand on end if he wasn’t armored. He looked from her to the group of crusaders, all four were focused on the cat. A perfect opportunity to try to capture one. Though doing so in his larger feral form may ruin the distraction.

Instead of going as he was, he shifted to his anthro form and slowly snuck into the cave. It was nice that they saw Alexia as either their goddess or the most dangerous one there…or both. Probably both he thought as he stayed just far enough away from the wall to keep his armored body from making any noise. With the four crusaders so distracted it was easy for him to sneak behind a female elf. Once in position he pulled her backwards, covered her mouth and whispered. β€œStay quiet now and you may survive this encounter.” Ravyn covered her with a wing. The top most bladed feather was lightly touching her throat but she could tell it was sharp. β€œBe a good girl now.” Knowing she could do nothing, she stayed silent. He could see that some of his other companions followed his example and captured one for themselves.

Sam followed Alexia into the cave, keeping his shotgun at the ready. Just as the insect that attacked Alexia was speared and silenced, another tried to jump Sam from the ground. Just as it's head emerged however, he pressed the tip of the barrel against its head and pulled the trigger, the metal making the head of the insect explode apart before the projectiles buried themselves inside it's main body, silencing it. He then heard another gun shot, this time not from his own gun. He looked over and saw that there were three crusaders remaining, one holding up the source of the sound. Sam couldn't help but laugh at the poor choice of targets. Of all the people she could've shot, it was the least patient out of them.

After watching Ravyn subdue one of them, he put a stasis field on the remaining two, any magic they had on them not protecting them from his ability. With them frozen still, he pulled out some rope and bound their arms and legs together. "Given that they made the poor decision of coming here in the first place, I feel like I shouldn't be surprised they tried to shoot you out of us four." Sam said. He shifted them so they were on their knees and their hands were tied to their ankles before he released them from stasis. "I'll keep watch outside the cave." he stated before walking to the entrance, shifting his eye sight to see large life forces once again. He watched carefully, as there were some predators in the distance that, while only somewhat larger, had a highly intense life force. It was something that determined how powerful something was typically, at least in raw power.

"Alexia wasn't kidding." he muttered to himself, pulling out a bar of chocolate and munched down on it. "I've been in some nasty jungles before, but this one...no wonder the crusaders have a hard time with it." By now he started hearing the pleas from inside the cave. "Looks like they finally realized who they shot at..." he muttered. He noticed one animal lurking in the foliage above, though their skin made excellent camouflage, his sight made it useless. It was clearly weighing its options, but from what Sam could hear, it was starving. He took a sniff as he kept an eye on it. "Ah.... very young, doesn't know how to hunt quite yet." he guessed. He assumed it tried to make it in time to feast on the leftovers of the crusaders, but it was stripped clean by the time they had gotten there. Sam chuckled a bit and reached into one of his bags and pulled out something the beast would enjoy. As soon as the scent hit the beast's nose, it couldn't restrain itself any longer. It hurled itself down at him, but Sam stopped it mid air with his power, the beast shrieking and struggling, trying to get away.

"Easy there big guy, took guts and hunger to attack me like that... I understand the pain of hunger, so here's your reward." he said, setting down the creature. It looked up at Sam as he tossed the hunk of dragon meat at him. The small beast chomped down on it with ferocity, the taste and texture unlike any it had before. Sam noticed the beast's shape and features changed somewhat, it's muscles became more defined, the claws grew sharper and it's eyes grew more focused, it even grew a healthy set of wings. The beast looked up at Sam for a brief moment before dashing off into the jungle and out of site. "Intriguing... it absorbed the small bit of power held in the flesh... what sort of creature was that?"

Between the insect attack and the crusaders taking pot-shots at Alexia Red simply let out a yawn. It was all so very trivial for him.

Walking up he stood by with his net of reinforced flesh in one hand and a dagger in the other as he watched the events transpire with all the investment of a bored channel surfer. He made no effort in assisting any of them in this endeavor as he held no interest in the fate of these crusaders and the other three demonstratively did not require any help in restraining the stragglers.

As he was standing by he took the opportunity to look around and see if there were any local fauna to test his theory with. He could easily detect the tell-tale beating of a nearby beast's heart, the sanguine fluid in it's veins quite visible to him. The creature seemed to be stalking Sam, looking to catch him by surprise. While part of him wanted to just net the creature and see how it fared some several feet above another part of him decided it would be more interesting to see if such a beast would succeed in devouring this guy.

It was stopped right in it's tracks. A boring result but nonetheless expected. Red took a lean on a tree next to him, crossing his arms as he watched Sam feed the beast some dragon meat for whatever pedestrian reason he had cooked up. What followed was something interesting. The creature seemed to adopt qualities from the meat it devoured, changing as it consumed the flesh. This did not impress him but rather it demonstrated that there were animals within this jungle that were quite mutable, prone to change based on their stimuli. Such a beast would be like putty in his hands.

"A shame you let it go so soon." He commented, pushing off the tree he was rested against and striding between him and Alexia. He walked on over, stepping up on an outwardly curved root of a tree as he surveyed the route that creature had used to flee. He calmly squeezed the net in his hand with an undulating grip. The net was far larger than him and a fair weight given it's current density yet he seemed fairly unencumbered by such a tool.

He was past the point where flesh would hold him back, be it his own or others.

Alexia just watched the two dragons go to work, grabbing and securing the surviving crusader forces. A small smile grew on her lips as she smiled and slowly moved forward, looking over the remaining crusaders while Sam stepped back out, leaving just her and Ravyn in the cave. She looked over their armor for any signs of command, but it was clear that it was all battle scarred. She just grabbed some water from the side of the cave though, splashing it over their chest plates, and sure enough, the armor shined up just a little bit, but far more importantly, she could see their ranks now.

Unfortunately, she just hissed a bit, these three were basically all just grunts. She instead looked to their faces now, beauty still held power among the crusaders. While it wasn't something that Alexia usually cared for, she could still tell that the one in the middle stood out. "You... your armor says your grunt, but how is your voice in your order?" Alexia demanded.

The three crusaders all gasped out at her words, the outer two looking towards the center one. While they did clearly mumble and try to whisper among themselves, Alexia quickly started to ignore the one in the middle and leaned down right in front of the one on the right. "What was that about a general... are you related at all?" She demanded, all thing quickly dropping their heads in fear and respect again.

"M-my au-a-aunt... sh-she is a-a-a.. h-high..." The human stated, concerned and worried, able to see the anger over Alexia easily, and now entirely fearful that she was going to be killed or worse, disappoint the goddess, which was a very good possibility since she was tied up firmly before the goddess.

"Speak up... and clearly. Your aunt, she is a high what?" Alexia demanded, trying to keep her tone calm.

"She is a-a high priestess..." The human stated.

"And what was that about a general? Does she have active connections with the military?" Alexia asked, the human just nodding. Alexia finally let a proper smile on her face as she turned. "Sam, these three are coming with us." Alexia called out walking outside only to see a rare beast run off, uncaring how the others appeared to be looking over it. "I need them alive, but I would prefer that they are... unable to recognize anything on our route back home. You stunned them once, how effective is that to permanently hold them in a form of status, and what are the lasting effects on the mind?" Alexia asked him.

"I've checked, and as far as I can tell, I can make it permanent until I release them so long as they aren't as powerful as a dragon. Basically, the moment I freeze them, the next thing they'll see is what's around them when I release them. No effects on the mind or body as far as I can tell." Sam explained, Alexia just nodding.

β€œDo it, and be careful with the human. Her aunt is a high priest with military connections. If anyone will have a good enough voice to secure a message to Zenos, she's the best I have for now.” Alexia stated, Sam moving back into the cave to work his techniques now.

β€œCome on, we've got a trip to finish, and I want to be there before nightfall.” Alexia called out as she started back for the boat, Sam pulling the three girls along to the boat.

As they showed back up, Holo was a bit further down the river, but soon enough she pulled the boat back up close. β€œI apologize, machines are not exactly my... preferred method of travel, we disagree often.” Holo said looking up and then seeing the crusaders. β€œI guess we have extra guests for now?” Holo asked, Alexia nodding some.

β€œDon't touch them, Sam has them in status and I don't want to reveal my home openly to them.” Alexia said, Holo just nodding.

β€œI can understand that.” Holo stated as she gave the controls back to Alexia. Once the group was on the barge again, Alexia quickly set them back on course, if sped up a bit towards her home. It wasn't long before they all reached the lake in the middle of the jungle and everything seemed to open up, giving them all a very different view of the jungle, it still was a good mile or some to her island, but already those with good eyes could make out the ancient earth airport, and just how over grown it was as they all drew closer and closer.

With Alexia distracted for the moment, she was very unobservant to the fact that Red had taken the chance to disembark on his own. Alexia just continued on as she had without care for now. Her mind was on other things as she just continued her course towards an large open end of the island.

One of the runways had already been fully flooded, for some reason the runway lower then all the others, and Alexia had made great use of it, having built a rather large set of docks, fish breeding pen, and many other aquatic structures, a whole group of other boats there, including one that was currently torn apart, showing how Alexia used plenty of the plane parts to make her small fleet of barges as she moved up and parked the barge into a perfectly shaped dock that it practically just snapped into.

With the barge in place, Alexia just moved over and moved a few clamps down to secure it place and nodded to Sam. β€œI ask that you two help Holo unload her cart. You can store it all in that hanger right there, the massive open door building that you can fit a small town. Try to keep things stacked up along the left side wall when you walk in. When you finish, you can enter the airport through those doors over there, the large glass wall. I've already told you what areas to avoid, but feel free to explore while I manage these three.” Alexia stated as she walked off with Sam now, still oblivious to the fact that Red was not there. While the others had noticed, none thought it wise to point out the issue to Alexia just yet, Sam staying quiet for now and just moving with her.

This left Holo with Ravyn, Holo in awe of the size of the place and how it looked like nature itself was actually involved with the construction of the place. β€œI like it... it is far better then she described.” Holo said rather eagerly. β€œIt almost feels homely...”

With all the crusaders secured, Ravyn stayed with Alexia. Partially to make sure they don’t try to escape. Though if they did the feline wouldn’t let them live long enough to regret it. So he kept an eye on them and watched her work. It seemed that they came upon a collection of grunts, low level crusaders. Even though they were low level, it sounded like one had a high ranking aunt. A high priestess.

With the three β€œguests” in tow and under Sam’s mental block, they returned to the boat. Once everyone was on the boat, he shifted back into his armored feral form and swam next to it. As the boat increased speed, he swam faster to keep up. True he could have just gotten on the boat with the others, but the water was just too relaxing.

Their destination was quite a sight. A pre shatter airport she called it. Still in pretty decent shape. Even with one of the runway’s flooded. The dragon made a note to ask about doing some fishing for some food later. When the boat docked, he jumped out of the water and shook his armor dry.

β€œIt does have a home like feel to it. Since it is just the two of us, shall we unload your cart then explore? I think it could be fun to see what this place has to offer.” To be honest, he was very eager to explore Alexia's home. Well the areas they were allowed to explore anyway. But he wouldn't leave Holo to unload her cart on her own. Exploration can wait until that is done.

Sam looked at Red and shrugged "We may see him again, and we'll see what he does." He stated. He put the crusaders into stasis before securing them to the barge and set them down before tying them down, making sure they were secure before they set off. As they came into view of the airport. He was slightly amazed at how good condition it was in, all things considered. "I haven't seen something this much intact and large from the old world... she hit a real piece of treasure here." He thought to himself.

Sam started lifting the cargo from the barge to the hangar, and continued to do so until it was done. He entered through the glass doors like instructed and looked around. A wave of odd nostalgia hit him, making him feel somewhat lightheaded. He remembered his father taking him on various trips, often using air transportation. He looked over a sign with moss growing over it and wiped it away. "Yeah...New York City airport.. part of it at least." he muttered to himself. He wandered around a bit, taking in the old, yet familiar architecture. He looked to Ravyn "This would be part of a much larger facility, where it would monitor, instruct and resupply air transportation vehicles. You could find people from all over the world traveling here, of all different nationalities, races, beliefs... I could go on forever. If it weren't for the chasms separating different parts of the world, something similar to this would've most likely been built again." He stated "I had been in these quite a few times, though their prices would burn a hole in your wallet..."

As they had set out into the lake Red instead opted out, choosing to discretely leap from the boat as they sailed on. He had studies to attend and the water would only prove an impediment to him. It was decided best that he not put this off as sailing from the island was likely to prove difficult without a suitable raft. He was fairly sure they weren't going to lend him one for this task as they were far from forward-thinking, so he believed.

He landed upon the sand with his flesh net in one hand and a wicked dagger in the other, his impact very slight as he hardly kicked up many granules. Even without a means of flight he was quite capable of jumping great distances and landing with a cat's own grace. His crimson eyes scanned the foliage obscuring the way beyond. He could not see it but there were definitely predators watching, some more keen than others. This deep in the forest predators were thick in number. He'd have no difficulty in attracting one.

Kneeling down in the sand Red held out one of his wrists. With a dagger clutched in hand he cut open the veins in his arm, spilling precious crimson fluid onto the sand below. That delicious cold kiss of a blade was all too familiar a sensation, one that he could practically feel every time he closed his eyes. That's how well acquainted he was with the act of spilling his own blood.

In the sand he remained kneeling, his eyes closed as he let the blood slowly drip from his arm. He knew that this beast though it was canny indeed would not be able to resist the temptation of prey that remained still and seemingly unaware. Seeming was the keyword there as he was far from unaware of events taking place in the dark of the obscuring brush. As far as it was concerned Red was just bleeding out and resting, the type of scenario he figured he could sell with ease and draw out something to play with.

It's approach was punctuated not with sound but with a brief reprieve from the the natural echoes of the focus. Where one might feel truly alone he knew he was anything but that.

Out from the bushes it leapt. A massive panther pounced from the foliage at Red. It opened it's gargantuan jaw, easily capable of swallowing him whole. In that instant he sprung into action, casting the net from his hand over the panther's head. As it was in mid-leap it was unable to avoid the web of flesh, crashing straight into the weave. Though large as the panther was the net's span was vast enough to engulf the entirety of the panther's head.

The trap was sprung. With a wave of his hand the net pulled up, taking the panther up into the air by it's head. The beast thrashed most violently however the net only remained firmly clasped as it continued to ascend, the panther in tow. It fought hard, pulling at the strands of the net with both it's foreclaws and hindclaws. It would have bit into the net if it were able but it seemed it couldn't get any of the lines into it's maw. A few of the lines connecting throughout the net were torn in this conflict however Red was on top of the issue, using his dark magic to rebind the net's weave every time a portion is broken.

The air became furious. As the beast's distance from the ground grew the air became more and more violent. Bursts of wind impacted the head numerous times, harming the net little but causing significant pain to the panther beneath it. The feline's panic started to reach a fevered pitch as the air begun crushing the net over it's head, pressing down in a mighty display of pneumatic force. It was yowling and screeching with pain, it's body twisting and winding frantically in a desperate attempt to escape. It could not prevail however as it only continued to climb higher into the air.

With one last high pitched cry the panther's life came to a sudden and horrifically bloody end. The air seemingly detonated with a crack, smashing into the net and subsequently the panther's head from all around in a violent implosion. It's skull and jaw were shattered into many pieces, rupturing inward whilst the contents were promptly forced out. Eyes, brains, tongue and blood all erupted from the apertures of the panther's head. The corpse of the panther fell now that it was free of it's own head, shortly followed by the net as it had served it's purpose.

Red, standing not too far off from the scene, was showered in blood, viscera and small bits of bone. He was grinning like a madman, arms outstretched like he was welcoming the fall of rain. He certainly welcomed this sort of rain that was for sure.

He started to chuckle. The chuckle started to build into a low cackle. This cackling only continued to build before erupting into full blown laughter, Red howling with amusement at the sight of this discovery. His laughter echoed throughout the woods, able to be heard even from the remote shores of the island within the lake. Only after a solid few minutes of maniacal laughter did it finally start to die down. One could only laugh so hard for so long before needing a moment to breath after all.

Aaah... It's so much fun discovering new and interesting ways to bring suffering to the worlds!

He had little time to bask in the mirth that was exploiting the world's features for his own gain as he could feel a number of heartbeats nearby. Both the spilling of blood and the sound of his voice had drawn a number of new guests to this little party he was having. For as much fun as popping the heads off kitties was for him he had gotten his result. His estimate to the numbers approaching were fairly high, at least six or seven roughly. He lacked the biomaterial to manage this quantity of assailants, at least ones this large, for now.

"Aperire Corpus!" Sparing no more time he got to work, casting his dark magic upon the cooling body of the dead panther. It was initially resistant at first but seeing as it was no longer alive there was little behind the magic resistant quality of the beast's very matter to oppose his arts. Slowly the corpse opened up down the middle, flesh and bone splitting to fold upon like some form of gruesome flower. With a wave of the hand the twisted remains of the net flew to him and closed over the opening of the beast's corpse. It pulled the sides up until the body formed the shape of a bowl, holding it in place as Red willed.

With hardly a second to spare he climbed inside the carcass of his recent kill. Standing within he reached over and with a firm yank pulled the still heart from the creature's chest, holding it up into the air in a ritualistic manner. Blood was always freshest straight from the heart. The blood that had yet to drain out from the heart's severed aorta flowed out, running down the sides and along the arm, traveling earthward until the blood reached the wound he had made in his arm. The beast's blood flowed into his veins, absorbed yet not lost within him until little remained with the heart. For that final amount he reached into the wound in his arm and pulled it open further, reaching two fingers and a thumb inside his own forearm. From here he produced a vial he kept stored within his crimson essence, a complicated phenomenon which hemomancers with decent training will know and make full use of well throughout their career. Using the vial he encapsulated the blood within, sealing it with a cork. With the blood sample secured he tucked the vial into his blood vault within him through the right forearm's open wound before sealing the opening up with coagulated blood.

He could hear the sounds of paws, claws and other assorted noises an animal's limbs made against dirt as they emerged from the greenery. A pack of raptors along with a bear and a couple boars erupted, charging for the scene of the bloodshed. Red simply bid them adieu as with a motion of the hand the corpse vessel he stood within shot fast off the beach and across the surface of the water. He had just repurposed the dead panther into a makeshift boat, magic propelling it along the surface of the lake. The speed with which it was traveling was quite astounding for a boat, the rate at which it had left the beach having sent Red himself fallen into the back of the boat. He simply slumped down on a cushion of intestines as the boat made quick time in sailing to the island. Red closed his eyes and soaked in the cool wind in his hair as the distant sounds of frustrated predators howling could be heard fading in the distance. The creatures weren't long to turn on each other when it was readily apparent that Red was well too deep into the lake for them to pursue.

In little time he soon came ashore, riding his cat-boat up onto the earthen beach surrounding the airport. Standing up with a content smile he stretched his arms out and stepped out from his large nightmarish canoe. He was quite glad to be on solid earth since he readily did not trust the waters that Alexia seemed quite dependent upon. Taking the opportunity while he still had it he had his scab peel off on it's own, the vein reopening to absorb the rest of the blood from the dead panther. He figured it might be some time before he can find an opportunity to carve open some other lucky being and drain it of blood so he drained as much as he could from this kill of his. Given it's size he was not concerned about going hungry or running dry anytime soon. Dark lords know he'd sooner take his chances with the critters of the jungle before he'd turn to drinking the water for sustenance.

As he drained the dead panther dry it shriveled up, becoming dry and stiff like it was ready to break apart at the slightest provocation. Once deprived of it's fluids it was hardly seaworthy, hence why Red chose to wait on draining his prey entirely before coming to the safe-ish island shores. With his little ride taken care of he got to work primming himself up to be only the fanciest fellow present. He let his own blood flow along all the fibers of his attire before casting away any of the blood that was now filthy with sand and other debris off into the water before him, reabsorbing the clean sanguine fluids. As he was done he looked good as new, just like a gentleman would walking out to the party in a freshly steamed suit. Not a single stain of blood remained, nary a single red mark of the crimson fluid would dare stick to his clothing.

He looked out to see the others hauling old junk from the tag-along merchant into the historical base. Yawn, a boring task fit for thralls.
