My friend Hailey (she's not a member of this forum) is trying to write a vampire story and I'm supposed to be helping her but I'm stuck on ideas for the main character's name. It needs to be original and creative.. and it needs to be a male name. So, names are much appreciated. Thanks for your help. <3

Some of the Vampire names I've used in one of th books I'm writing story or in RPs are generally like those that LadyLibby posted; generally short and somewhat normal, yet not really used that much (if at all), but I also like to use much lionger and more complicated names for vampires; these are generally reserved for th older ones who have the greatest power. Some examples of such names are: Nerzenthal, Raezegiel, Nargaluth, Onraghish, etc.

Why can't you just have a vampire named Steve? Steve is a perfectly respectable name!

I see no reason why a vampire shouldn't have a perfectly typical name. John, Bill, Richard, Jacob, Sean, Juan, William, Joe, Michael, Timmy, Steve, Markus, Drew, Adam, whatever.

What time line is the main character from? Are we talking about a modern day or a past story?

When did the main character become a vampire (if they are at all) or, more importantly, when was the character born? And also where? In Germany vs Japan, the names would be totally different.

A person of the 1700's would have a different name then 1920's. Also, would the character change their name if they have lived for a long time?

The best way to make a character name in a modern day is to find a common modern day name. In past fantasy, the names start to get a little more complicated on origin.

I suggest looking at a birth of a certain name year chart, they have them on the web.

I hardly ever play in vampire rp's, but when I do, I find myself lacking in the name department. I'm not very creative when it comes to names, especially fo vampires. So what I do, is to name them after colors. For exmaple, Azul.

What kind of vamp is this dude? Is he 100s of years old, did he grow up in medieval Ireland, or Ancient Rome? Was he a pirate? Was he ninja? Was he a gangster in the roaring 20s? Details are necessary if you want a name that fits.
