Please feel free to make a post for your character at any time. The sooner the character's are placed, the sooner your character's will get a feel of their roles in and around the outer regions of Altholo. This RP is a base for acceptance and tolerance for being's not yet noticed or fully understood by human society. It's a story of war, love, pain, happiness and most of all, understanding eachother as of equal value, no matter where you come from.

All over the world, no matter who you may be, or where you are, everyone is aware of the almost eerie disappearances of hundreds of people every month. Eye witness accounts describe people simply disappearing in broad daylight, grabbed by some unknown entity and dragged into a rip of some kind. Spouses are disappearing while sleeping next to their partners, children are vanishing while only inches from their parents, and some are coming home from school or work and never being heard from again. Some think it’s the work of God or Aliens, but only a handful know the truth behind these strange disappearances.

A world unlike our own is kidnapping humans in hope of finding the special few who posses certain telekinetic powers. The dark city known as Altholo, where mythical creatures are all but to common, Vampires drink more than just blood, and Demons with unspeakable power’s rule over want to take back the world of light once more; the humans world. Knowing the humans weakness for compassion and loyalty to their own kind, the Demons and high ranking mythical creatures of Altholo have decided to find these special few humans and use their powers to destroy their own race and to make the humans bow down to the true rulers of their world.

So far, over a thousand humans have been captured and put into a comatose sleep. While asleep, they are injected with a hormone that exponentially increases whatever telekinetic power they may possess. After this, they are released into Altholo to fend for themselves, while being monitored by special scouts to see just exactly how strong they can be when in danger or feeling extreme emotional distress. For the humans who show no power whatsoever, or form bonds within the city or outer limits of Altholo with other creatures, death is instant and mandatory by all scouts. Some unfortunate humans are thrown to the Vampires; slavery is banned, for Altholo has no use for wondering humans who are powerless. Those who show power are no more fortunate. They are captured and their power is tested to the limit, a limit close to death.

Some Demon’s have strayed from Altholo and into the human world, waiting and watching for the time to attack. Some have detoured away from taking over the human’s world, forming close bonds with humans and willing to protect them at all costs. Demons and creatures have rebelled in Altholo, taking in humans (power’s or no powers) and trying to get them home in one piece.

Will you be part of the rebellion? A scout made to keep track of a certain human? A powerful Demon who has no care what the humans do? Maybe a part of the group working to train the humans? A Elf or Vampire whose simply been caught up in all this? A human still in his/her world, who does or does not know he’s sitting across from a rogue Demon of Altholo? Or maybe one of the poor humans being bred to destroy the very world they love so much?

Whoever you are, it’s a battle of the fittest, and if something is not done soon, everyone will lose.

WILL YOU BE NEXT?

Vincent of Jersey. That's what someone once called him. He supposed it was apropos given how often he was in New Jersey. Still, the dark elf artist loved the place. It suited his creative muse. Vincent D'Nozo walked through the bustling streets, the crowds of the unwashed masses seemingly oblivious to his presence.

"Ah," he sighed contentedly, entering a small coffee shop and immediately taking a seat.

He smiled at a waitress as she walked by, and she stopped at his table, smiling back. She was pretty, he thought, but not the best he had seen. Still, he was in the mood for a redhead today.

"How I despise the simple addle coves of this city," he said to her. "They are naught but worthless laborers, people of the common clay."

"Um ..." she replied, obviously confused.

"You know," he explained, "morons."

"Oh," she said quickly. "Is there something I can do for you today, sir?"

"I would like a triple shot venti Americano, no room for cream, extra hot," he commanded. "I also want you to pose for my art."
Drop your shield!

Altholo:

Where was she? She couldn’t remember much, only that the weather was much darker and gloomier compared to home in this place. People looked different, if you could call them people at all she supposed. The old woman with pointed ear’s and black slits for eyes had been trailing her, hissing whenever Blythe would turn around and stare at her with obvious fright. She had wondered were those ears the product of plastic surgery, or just a birth defect. Hell, she wasn’t a doctor, she was a journalist and couldn’t even treat her own scraped up leg let alone try and guess whether someone had been born with pointed ear’s and slits for eyes. “I want to go home...” she groaned and buried her face into her knee’s that were tucked up and into her chin. Blythe had been stared at, pointed at and even made fun of for the way she looked. All these people looked weirder then her for God’s sake! The children were just as bad; they threw stones at her and called her a filthy human. Blythe didn’t understand, weren’t they human to? Everything just didn’t make any sense. Come to think of it, she could have sworn one of the children had a Fox tail growing out of their backside. Was that even possible?

As rain started to pelt down harder, Blythe started to wonder if the sun ever came out here. She had been here two days, with no food and no sun. All it ever did was rain. She was tucked under a bit of shelter from a small building. Under her was cobble stones and mud, so her jean shorts were getting a good helping of mud and grime. Her dark hair was oily from not being washed and starting to curl from the humid weather. All that gave her warmth was her black jacket, but her dampened shorts were starting to make her shiver.

The lack of food and clean water started to take its toll as her head started to spin. She was so tired, but was afraid to fall asleep in case one of these monsters decided to try something while she was in an unconscious state. But she was safe here... it was almost deserted. Closing her eyes for brief seconds at a time, she found it harder to keep them open. Soon, her eyes fell shut and she laid her body down, getting herself into a foetal position for warmth. Just for a minute... she told herself, just a minute of sleep and she would try and find a way back home...

A minute soon turned into hours as she tossed and turned from the cold wind that slapped her hair against her face over and over again.

A small flame crept across Alex’s knuckles under his stare; it wouldn’t have looked like it to an outsider but controlling this and its tiny intricate movements took much more control than setting some huge on fire. And people have always said that practise makes perfect so that’s what he did, it certainly beat thinking about what his chances were on this mission of his.

Alex had been watching and waiting in a run down and abandoned building, the rain didn’t do him or his powers any good. This meant that during this long period of rain he had been moving from deserted building to deserted building. He had been following a girl, but not just her, the scout that was certain to be tailing her.

This was what he had been doing for a while now, finding recently escaped humans and then killing the scouts that follow them, giving them a head start in this hell.

But a fight with a scout in the rain would mean death, and so he waited. Only two things could break this stalemate, the scout making a move or a change in weather.

Vincent had long since finished his coffee, finished his drawing, and finished the rest of his business with the red haired waitress. The dark elf, had then returned to Altholo, though not before getting another cup of coffee to go. It was raining in Altholo (what a surprise, Vincent thought sarcastically), so the dark elf popped open his large black umbrella before beginning his walk through the streets of the grimy city. As he walked, he spied something out of the ordinary.

Or rather, something too ordinary.

Vincent D'Nozo approached, and soon discovered it was a human girl, curled up in the empty alleyway. The black skinned elf looked her over carefully, and though at first glance he thought she was dead, he came to realize she was half-sleeping in the pounding downpour. Vincent ran his fingers through his snow white hair, then knelt down beside her, the dark elf mildly interested. He jabbed her harshly in the thigh with two fingers.

"Hey, girl," he hissed, "get up."

Blythe:
Blythe could feel something poking her. It was an uncomfortable pain and she kicked to make it stop. She finally started to open her eyes, drowsiness and confusion clouded her senses as she looked up and into the unreal eyes of the person who had rudely been probing her to wake up. It was man – at least, she thought it was a man – he had features she had never seen before on any other person. Scattering to get as far away as she could from him, she now had her back pressed harshly against the old stone wall of whatever building she had taken sanctuary under.

“Leave me the hell alone!” She had shouted, but later regretted it. If someone had heard her, there would certainly be more creatures crowding around getting a better look at her incredibly ugly state.

Pressing her head against the cold wall behind her she brought her knees to her chin. She would have done anything for a shower, even some shampoo and conditioner would have been nice. She would have used it even if the water was freezing cold and gave her pneumonia. Anything was better than feeling like this. Her knee was throbbing from the deep scrape she had and her head hurt from lack of sleep, the last thing she needed was this odd looking man waking her from the only sleep she’d had in two days.

“Look,” she croaked out, finally deciding standing up may make her look more threatening. Getting to her feet – very shakily and using the wall for support – Blythe struggled to keep herself from falling face first into the muddied ground. “I’ll make sure my dad has you thrown in jail if you don’t tell me where the hell I am!” she shouted, finally fed up with the way she was being treated; like some animal. She couldn’t be too far away from Sydney... maybe she could walk home...?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

J’aret:

J’aret stared idly from the roof he had perched himself on. The rain hit him with hard pelts and lord, did he hate water. He had been tailing the girl, and three other humans, for two days now. Each had been thrown in different places of the city, but hadn’t gotten far as far as he knew. What intrigued him was the fact Vincent D’Nozo, a Demon he had come across some time before when he was still in school, was actually touching the thing. Tilting his head, he also didn’t let the other human go unnoticed.

The human whom had been trailing this girl was obviously male and kept his distance. Good, J’aret had no intention of fighting any humans; they weren’t worth much of the effort. Of course, finding a human astray and sensing no scout within fifty metres, it was his sworn duty to kill the boy. Too bad J’aret didn’t live up to his sworn duty most of the time. He didn’t care whether the boy roamed free, but as long as he kept his distance from this girl, he wouldn’t have to kill him. The only thing the leader’s hated most were humans banding together, it just created more of a nuisance towards the people who lived in Altholo. They were already taking a big risk letting these things run around freely, knowing full well that some humans had power’s that could easily take a high ranking Demon out in seconds.

J’aret sighed and jumped from the building with great agility, jumping only to another as an easier way to get across to another sanction of the city. He had other humans to watch, this girl seemed to have enough trouble surrounding her. If she died, there no skin off his back, just one less human to watch and take data back to the leader’s for.

The girls shouting broke the tense silence and in an instant Alex was peering through the window at her position. Snow white hair and dark skin, he had no doubt that this was a dark elf. But how did it bypass his guard on the girl, he quickly shook his head scattering the thoughts that inhabited it, there was no time for him to beat himself up about this.

Alex blasted the door of off its hinges with a well placed sky coloured fireball, another one lay in the palm of his left hand and it had the elf’s name on it at least that’s until it went out. The rain whipped away at his body but that wasn’t the problem, the steam that occupied his left hand told the whole story. As he walked towards his enemy let his hand give birth to another one, but this time he maintained it. Steam rose from the palm of his hand but as parts of his flame died he simply created more of it, except it wasn’t that simple, keeping the tennis ball sized fireball alive ate away at his strength. This certainly wasn’t good conditions for a fight. Weeds of doubt began to grow in his mind but listening to them would do him no good, so he walked.

Throwing distance normally for him was around twenty metres, but what about in the rain. Alex estimated that it was around half of that. And what about his accuracy, he might as well half that too. Five metres seemed best for him, so he stood at that distance from the pair in front of that still didn’t know that he was there.

“Hey elf,” Alex shouted to a backdrop of the sound of heavy rain “leave the girl and disappear into the whole you crawled out from and that’ll be the end of this. Otherwise...” he let his voice trail off while he let the fire in his hand flare up, this was energy draining but if his bluff worked then it would all be worth it. After all it was his only option an all out attack might result in the girl being hurt in the crossfire and he didn’t want that.

"You obviously don't know where you are," Vincent chuckled. "Oh dear, you've gotten yourself into quite a predicament, girl. This is Altholo, the Dark City. Since it is unlikely you have heard of this place, let me phrase it this way: you aren't in Kansas anymore. While your here, you'd do well to keep your guard up. Some of the residents here will get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too."

A sudden shout behind the dark elf got his attention, and he let out a sigh of boredom. Vincent D'Nozo did not bother turning around; he was not that interested.

"Go away, boy," he told Alex dryly. "I'm in no mood for you."

Turning his attention back to the girl, he finished with, "Come to my home, miss. You need a towel by the looks of you, a bath by the smell of you, and a hot meal by extrapolation. Join me."

"She isn't going anywhere with you Vincent" Claire sighed. She leaned up against the building and looked at straight at Vincent. He drove her crazy with all his conquests and dislike for her. She didn't care. J'aret wasn't doing his job and now the girl was being followed by a boy who was ready to kill for her. "J'ARET WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!" she screamed upwards as she pushed off of the wall and began to walk towards Vincent and the girl. She snapped her fingers quickly and extinguished the fireball in the young boys hand, with out so much as a single glance in his direction.

"Get up girl" she said as she grabbed the quivering girl's arm. "You weren't supposed to be released yet. There will be hell to pay for letting you out early" she sighed and shook her head. She glanced down at her clothes and cursed under her breathe. She was still in her silk scouting uniform and it now clung to her. She hated how often in rained in Altholo. "Vincent, if you really want to help the girl you can come with me, but I am leaving now. It is your choice. I am tired of this rain and I don't feel like wasting energy to make it stop." She pulled at the girl and began walking down the ally "I need to change and she needs to rest" she said over her shoulder and walked a few more steps before she was stopped by...

"Take her, I don't care," replied Vincent. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. Honestly, Claire, I thought you knew me better than that. Though, really, it isn't polite to interrupt me when I'm talking to someone. And before you ask, Claire, no, you cannot have my umbrella."

The dark elf yawned in boredom as he watched Claire leave with the girl. Truth be told, Vincent D'Nozo had only come to Altholo to show his latest drawing to Lilly. Still, the dark elf's interest was mildly piqued now. He had on occasion run afoul of J'aret before, and Vincent knew it was not like him to be so lax in his duties.

"Like I care," the dark elf muttered to himself, taking a sip of his coffee.

She stopped and turned on her heels. "You sound like an old human movie you ass. First you quote Oz and now Gone with the Wind." She stood toe to toe with with him. "You are more pathetic than I thought!" She shouted, fuming. "You act so nonchalant yet you offered her food and a shower. Don't give a damn my ass." She turned mumbled a few words, seconds after 3 men in black cloaks appeared out of no where and grabbed Blythe. "Take her to the Chamber. I need to run tests on her." They disappeared the second the order was finished. She turned back to Vincent, calmer now that the girl was dealt with. "Vincent, why are you here?" She looked at him, "Are you looking for Lily?"

Inside the Chamber Jasper worked with some new captures. He felt uneasy, his Twin, Claire was trying to communicate with him, but something was blocking it. He focused on her thoughts and heard a single word. Lily. Oh hell, he thought to himself as he finished enclosing the the capsules with the humans. He, like his sister pitied them but had to so his job. His father would be very disappointing if he didn't. He looked just like Claire, except with harsher angles in his face and short hair. They were twins, same powers, same emotions, same thoughts. He stood and grabbed an umbrella. He knew she was soaking wet and would die before she asked for assistance. He walked out of the building and flew towards her. He would arrive in a few seconds.

"Hmm," said Vincent thoughtfully, "I suppose when one sees enough human movies, they tend to stick in one's memory. Does it ... irritate you, dear Claire? Are you still angry that my heart holds no place for you? Was it not you who once described it as a 'slimy, slippery thing'? Besides, I truly don't care about that human girl. I just wanted her to pose for my artwork."

The dark elf smiled at Claire before taking another sip of his piping hot coffee. Vincent D'Nozo loved tormenting her, though he never went out of his way to track her down just to do so. She showed up often enough that there was no need.

"Since you asked," he continued, sipping his coffee, "I am indeed returning to this cesspool of corruption in order to chat with Lilly. She is one of the few reasons I have for ever leaving New Jersey. Why do you ask? You usually don't care what I do. And before you ask, Claire, no you cannot have some of my coffee."

She began to laugh. "I don't know what is funnier, that you think that I want a place in your heart or that I want to drink coffee" she gasped between giggles. She hadn't laughed in a long time and was glad she was able to now. "Honestly I'm worried about her. I haven't seen her in weeks and she usually checks in with me. I know you aren't a fan of the fact that she and I are cousins but we are." She ran her fingers through her wet hair. "I can give you more details if you want. Jasper will be here soon. He is worried too and he is usually the calm one. Are you too still fighting too?" She stared at the ground, wondering how she and Vincent became so angry at each other. There were never friends but they always got along until one day when he called her a selfish child. She has hated him ever sense.

"Vincent" Jasper greeted him and opened the umbrella over his twin's head. Has he seen her? he asked Claire with his mind.

No, not yet. He just arrived. He encountered Blythe and I had to send her to the Chamber with the Scouts. He wanted her to pose for him and we both now how that ends. She was too weak and would have been hurt after an encounter with him. Her mind hissed,

"So has Claire told you about Lily's disappearance? " Jasper asked slowly. Knowing that the problems would soon begin.

Vincent's normally nonchalant face grew grim, and the umbrella nearly slipped from his grasp. The dark elf's brow furrowed in worry.

"What do you mean Lilly's disappeared?" Vincent barked angrily. "What happened to her? Tell me everything you know!"

Vincent D'Nozo had never let himself get attached to a woman before, or after, he met Lilly, much less care for one. This news was a heavy blow to him. In his own strange way, he supposed he even loved her.

"Did someone kidnap her?" he asked frantically. "Why would anyone want to hurt her? Lilly's just an artist! She's no threat to anyone, on any side of this mess!"

Matthew was in something of a bad mood. That is, worse than his normal state of constant depression and and pessimism. His general indifference was actually beginning to edge toward anger. Lieto had told him that he knew someone that would help him get out of this damn city. And Lieto had given Matthew lousy directions. Matthew sighed deeply. He could see his own breath. He pulled his coat deeper around himself, traversing the side alleys of Altholo with a practiced ease, stepping over puddles of grime, blood, and the general human waste that Altholo secreted from it's every pore. At least in the damn slums. Why did all of Lieto's shady contacts have to live in the bloody filthy hellhole slums? Matthew thought about this for a moment, then shook his head in confusion. No use questioning Lieto's instructions, the demon was his only hope so far of getting out of here...in one piece, at least. Matthew halted in confusion as he stepped into a large street.

Lieto had told him that the route was entirely through the side alleys. Matthew was sure he hadn't messed up somewhere. He had double checked every turn with Lieto's instructions. After several moments of deliberation on the matter, he decided that it was most likely the shapeshifter had intentionally given him bad directions. Matthew stomped his foot on the ground-a rare expression of anger in someone so...boring as Matthew. Matthew called to mind the grinning, masked face of Lieto with ease.

'Now, dearest Matty, you must head straight left...or was it right..no, definitely left from...why are you looking at me like that? Of course I mean left dearest Matty. Right is a dead end, don't you know? Anyway, you've interrupted my train of thought, it's going all around in circles now..ahem, go left, skip the next two rights, then go right, then go left then straight then straight again then left and..

All Lieto ever did was talk, honestly. Matthew supposed it wouldn't be entirely out of place if he had messed up somehwere, Lieto had described over fifty turns, and Lieto didn't have the greatest memory...but Lieto was reading from a sheet of paper, so it must have been right. Anyway...

straight again, again..hehehe...

Matthew began to cross the street when he heard voices the next block over. Matthew immediately and silently pressed himself against the wall. He only caught snatches, but heard the names Claire and Vincent mentioned. Midway through, he heard someone else join the conversation. Matthew sighed again, hoping that the Claire mentioned wasn't the head scout. Vincent, though, Matthew didn't know. He could go around..but he was relying on Lieto's directions..he didn't know this part of Altholo..oh bloody hell.

Meanwhile, Lieto continued to read the menu he had been reading for the past two hours. "Hmm...medium or medium well...so many choices...wait...oh damn it WAS a right!"

Matthew angrily stamped his foot, which unfortunately sent a pebble skiterring to the next block over, where he had heard voices. Matthew silently mumbled, "Shit..." and quickly began to retreat to the side alley he had came from.

"We don't know if someone has taken her or not" Jasper and Claire said in unison. "We were supposed to meet 3 weeks ago and she never showed up." Claire continued while her brother watch Vincent carefully. "We went to her house but its as if she disappeared. When was the last time you talked to her?" She asked tilting her head to look up at him. He towered over her, like her brother did and it just made her want to hurt him. "We were going to go to her house tomorrow but considering your need to check out her place we should go now." She sighed.

"Vincent, we should go now. We need to talk about Lilly's involvement with the Order and you. We know you care for her, but this is important. Do you know why she was was working for them?" Jasper asked sternly. He was tired of Vincent and his mood swings.

They both heard the pebble slide on the ground. Jasper and Claire both looked in the direction the pebble had come from and saw the man. "Damn it" Claire cursed and raised her hand. The ground shifted under the man and we was transported to them. He fell at their feet and Claire took out her blade,"Who are you?" she asked him and Jasper looked back at Vincent. She has been on edge lately Jasper told him without speaking a word.

"I talked to Lilly about ... three weeks ago," he answered, surprising himself a little. "Well, I suppose for all intents and purposes that makes me the prime suspect. How ironic ..."

Still stunned by this horrific news, Vincent D'Nozo hung his head low, his angular chin nearly resting on his chest.

"Yes, let's go to her house. No, I did not even know she WAS working for the Order," he told Jasper. "She told me she wanted to stay out of it."

Slowly, he raised his head, his usual nonchalant facial expression coming over him once again. The dark elf noisily sipped his coffee, glaring at Jasper with his crimson eyes.

Jasper just watched him. He wasn't as hot headed as his sister. It was there only difference other than gender and height. He wanted to get back to his wife and their son but this had to be dealt with. Vincent was, has been, and will always be very strong and if he just went crazy, which would probably not happen, he could cause a lot of damage.

"Claire, it isn't worth it. We have to go. NOW!" he shouted the last word to snap Claire out of her blood lust. She has been wanting to kill lately and this whole thing with Lilly was really bothering her.

"Fine" She said and stood up. She would deal with the man sooner or later. "I know who you are, and yes, I am the one you hoped you wouldn't run into." She glared at him then looked at Vincent. "Shall we?"

Vincent D'Nozo wrapped his umbrella arm around Claire's waist, ducking his head so that they might share the umbrella. He smiled wolfishly at her, then sipped his coffee once again. He was trying to appear as if only wanting to irritate her further, but his true intent was to hide his gnawing worry for Lilly's safety.

"Oh, quite, quite," he answered cheekily, "but if we're going on a date I insist that you leave your brother behind. We're both much too old to need a chaperon."

Claire leaned into Vincent and whispered into his ear "If you ever touch me again, I'll cut off your arm." She pushed away from him and stepped into the rain again. "I'm tired of all this god damn rain!" she screamed and tilted her head back to look up at the sky. "Vanusso" she whispered and clapped her hands in front of her. The rain stopped, but the clouds didn't clear, the clouds never cleared.

"Much better, what took you so long to do that Claire?" Jasper asked and threw his umbrella on the floor. He stood between Claire and Vincent and placed a hand on both their shoulders.

BOOM!

The smoke cleared slowly and revealed the inside of Lilly's living room. "We are here. Look around, both of you. I'll look in the guest room, Vincent you can go in the bedroom, I'm sure you've been there before." He looked at Claire quickly, "Clair look around here and the kitchen. Let me know when you find something. Alright?"

Clair nodded and he walked down the hallway to the guestroom. It was very dusty and dark. Full of half finished paintings and sketches. He began to ruffle through some papers and found a long piece of paper with about 100 names on it. Many of them had already been scratched out.

Claire looked around the loving room. It was dark and she didn't need any light because she could see in the dark. She knelled infront of the couch and began to pull papers forward. They were photograph. Photographs of humans that had been released. Some were with other humans, some with demons, some were just alone. Why do you have these Lilly?
