Welcome to the Four Academies
Where four opposites turn into one

IC || OOC

Hello, and welcome to the Four Academies, a prestigious school divided into four, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. You are a student about to enroll in this school, and is put into whichever house based on your astrological sign. Here, you will learn the basics all schools have, but we don't focus on physical education or the other Arts, here you are educated in the Arts of Control, where you will find yourself controlling your element according to your astrological sign. Students come from all over the world to come to this very school on the edge of an undiscovered island. Here in the Four Academies, it is held secret to the normal world what we do, what talent we can perform. Your goal is to lead your house to the Four Academies Cup, a trophy handed to the house that performs best. Two electives will be chosen from each house, one boy and one girl, and battle the other electives in a Four Elements Showdown.

Will you be the one to lead your house to the Cup?

~~~
Ren smiled at the quickly filling four, long tables, each for the four different houses, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Here was another year, ten more months to play with Fire. Another chance to witness the Showdown, maybe even participate in it. Her eyes trailed over to the wall behind where the teachers and headmaster sat, where all tables were vertical, there's faced all the tables in a horizontal fashion. On the wall was an array of gleaming golden plates. Each plate had a large jewel the size of your palm encrusted in it, either a Ruby, Aquamarine, Emerald, or Topaz. Under the Jewel would be written in looping, elegant letters, the names of whichever two students (boy and a girl, they pair up and battle as tag team) brought their house to win the Showdown. Under the student's name's was the year of when they had brought their house to win.
Ren's head turned to the Headmaster, as he began to speak.
"Welcome to the Four Academies, another year full of education. I welcome the freshmen, and say another hello to returning students,"
The dinner hall burst into an applause, mingled with cheers and whoops. The Headmaster chuckled and raised his hand, the hall falling silent once again.
"We have a new set of rules and policy this year, so please be sure to check the list on your way out. You can not miss it, it's the large slab of gold with words written on it. As tradition, like we do every year, we will play our school anthem as the house banner rise. We have Ren Tai of Fire on the Violin. Now will you please stand up."
Ren nodded and the silent muffles of students standing seemed to calm her down. She set her black violin on her shoulder and set her string bow on the strings, closed her eyes, and let the bow glide over the first note. The Four Academies anthem had no words, it was just the tune. She knew behind her were the different house banners slowly rising, the Fire Banner rising from a flame of fire, the Water Banner rising from a small pool of water, the Earth Banner rising out of a flower blooming, and the Wind Banner materializing out of thin air. Ren smiled in content as the serene sound of her violin took over her emotions, her thoughts becoming one with the song. The anthem was beautiful, it was graceful and elegant, and after eight years of violin practice, she was more than loving the instrument. With a final pull of her bow, she opened her eyes and flashed a radiant smile, removing her violin from her chin and bowing down deeply. The hall burst into an applause and Ren bounced off the platform, heading for the Fire Table.
"Thank you for that lovely piece, Ren, and for the final words. Let the feast, begin!"
Piles of food were carried down by some butlers and cups were filled with choices of juice or soda, boats of gravy were laid out and mounds of vegetables were placed in front of everyone.
Kind of reminds me of Harry Potter... Ren thought, and set her violin into a case under her feet before digging in. Without the magic.
Miku was bored like hell, then the sound of a violen penatrated the air, the song was beutiful and graceful, then the song was over and the sound of clapping erupted, she like the sound so she clapped to, she saw a girl bound from the stage and head over to the fire table 'pretty cool' she thought, then she turned back to her flute which she was polishing. Soon the plates of food started piling out, Miku put her flute back into its case and shoved it in her bag as she began to dig in.
Toby listened to the beautiful violin music, he loved music though he never learned an instrument, he did have his voice but he never sang much either, just when he was alone. The melody came to an end and the girl disappeared amidst the crowded tables.
The wide variety of food before him was overwhelming, he didn’t have much of an appetite, he found a few blueberries and strawberries along with carrots and placed them on his plate, he sipped his water.
The room was loud with the countless conversations all buzzing at once around him, he hated crowds when he wasn’t the one getting all the attention. Toby leaned back and scanned the room for familiar faces, his search failed. Most of his friends graduated the previous year leaving him alone and depressed.
“None…” he uttered as he dropped his head in failure. He looked around again, this time hoping to find at least one friendly face to strike up an conversation with, everyone was busy with their food or talking about nothing that mattered.
Toby stood and slipped from the room as best he could to go unnoticed, it was his last year here and it was going to be ruined without friends. He walked the long halls and corridors of the castle, after a few minutes he found his way to the roof where he could be alone, he stared out over the island and into the distant ocean.
“Beautiful…” he murmured to himself, he slumped down against a wall. A few pebbles were scattered about the ground, Toby flicked his wrist and pointed his fingers sending the pebbles skittering away. He leaned his head back against the wall and sighed.
Sofia sat at the water table, her hands making a cradle to put her head in while she listened to the opening speech, and finally the school’s Anthem. She closed her eyes as it played, whoever was playing it was playing very well, Sofia liked music, and secretly wanted to learn how to play it, but she had no affinity for it, and besides, she was busy. The lilting tones died out as the anthem was completed, she watched as the girl, Ren was her name, returned to her table, she was from the fire house.
Sofia turned her head away from the rival house, turning instead to the food that lined the table. Normally someone would make a wise crack about how this school was kind of like Harry Potter, only with elements, but the joke had been well overused, and only the sophomores and freshman joked with such overused humor. Sofia listened in on a conversation one of her friends, Maria, was having with a young freshman; Maria was always kind to the fresh meat. Sofia looked at the small boy with no warmth in her stare, he was looking at her, “Don’t worry kid, the Ice Queen don’t bite!” Maria laughed, and Sofia gave one of her rare half grins, Sofia never smiled. “Not hard anyway.” She commented, Maria laughed and continued to chat away. Sofia was startlingly pretty, but only guys who weren’t aware of her cold disposition or those who were bold dared to hope to have a chance at her.
Sofia took very little food, she didn’t eat much of main courses, her stomach’s desire lied within the dessert that came after the feast. Her purple eyes scanned the table for possible rivals in this year’s running to be a competitor, she was sure to get the female spot, she just hoped her male partner was able to keep up with her. A pale hand swept her nearly white hair out of her face and behind her ear, she never was much for the crowd, and it made her a bit impatient. She joined in on a conversation with Kyon, one of the juniors she was familiar with. She got the feeling that he was more interested in staring at her than talking with her though.
Miku saw Toby sneak out 'hmm good idea' she like him didn't like crowds and she wasn't all that hungry so she slipped out as well she walked down the corridors and picked up her flute, the sound of the violen made her want to play to. She began to play her fingers quickly gliding over the keys, she played untill she grew bored again, she put back her flute as she came to the same roof that Toby was resting on, though she didn't see him. She glanced out to the full moon and the shimmering pools of light the glowed on the waves, she sat down and broke out her sketch pad and pencils, she tried to capture everything perfectly, when she was done she held up the book admiring her work.
Rick sat quietly and listened to the Headmaster's address. Normally, he would be cracking jokes with other students at the Air table, but he had been told off by a fourth year already. When the Headmaster finished, Rick clapped along with everyone else.
He watched as a girl from the Fire dorm stepped forward and began to play the anthem on a violin. He had always adored the anthem, even learned how to play it on his panpipes in his second year. But somehow, it sounded so much more beautiful coming from the strings of a violin. When the song had finished, Rick clapped and gave a few shouts of praise. Once, dinner's over, I want to find that girl. That was amazing.
As food was coming around, Rick helped himself to a few choice morseld and joked around with his fellow Air students. He tried asking around about the girl, but it seemed like no one knew who she was or they didn't care, being as she was from Fire.
Ren grinned as her fellow Firemates clapped her on the back, slung arms around her shoulders, and gushed praises at her.
"W-What? Really? Was it that good?" she smiled, one eye closing as someone neared their face in like everyone else.
"Yeh, of course~ you make us Fire wielders proud!"
Ren laughed and swatted away everyone's presence, wanting to eat her food. "I wanna eat, can I have some room?"
"The Music Princess said move people!" her friend shouted, shoving people's faces away with her palm. Ren laughed even harder and lightly flicked her friends arm, and drizzled a little gravy over her mashed potatoes.
"Xie xie, Nina, but I don't think that was necessary." She smirked, taking a bite of the delicious food. She propped up her arm to her cheek, tilting her head to face Nina.
"Yes it was. Have you ever thought about Fire Stringing? Oh my god, that would be amazing. So little people can do that."
Ren, who had a spoonful of potatoes in her mouth, stared at her friend in thought, without removing the silverware. Fire Stringing was one of most complicated ways to play a string instrument, where the instrument is a bit like a harp, and you control the fire, weaving it up and down to create tunes. If not done correctly, out comes a singed harp and a screeching string instrument. The friction and heat has to be made just right, but if accomplished, the tune was one of the most beautiful things on Earth.
"I could try..." Ren trailed off, staring up at the Wall of Winners. For the past four years, the Wall of Winners had a streak of Air students winning the showdown. It was always the killer twins from Air that won, their senior year being their last when Ren came to the school. Now, it was anybody's game.
Toby watched the girl for a short while, she was drawing, she held up her sketch pad.
"You an artist?" he asked, unmoving from his place slightly to the side and behind of her, his tone was unenthusiastic but warm, he recognized her from the Air Dorm they were in the same year, he stretched and let out a sigh as he stood.
“You’re an Air bender, aren’t you?” Toby asked as he attempted to steal a peek at the girls sketch pad.
Vincent watched lazily as the headmaster started off the school year with the ever traditional speech, and couldn't help but lay his head on the table. It was his third year here and he already heard this speech enough times so he was occupying himself with attempts to keep his eyes opened as the speech continued and eventually found himself slowly drifting off to sleep. Vincent wasn't asleep for long when he heard a very familiar tune being played on a violin, he cracked an eye opened and looked up at the front to find Ren playing a soothing melody and seemed to be enjoying herself quite a bit. Now if i could only remember that song then all would be swell. After his little nap, the sleep was still fogging his brain and so Vincent yawned and attempted to rub the sleep from his eyes before he went off to dream land again. He joined in the applause and smiled at Ren when she neared the Fire table. That reminds me, i should practice my Đàn tranh before i get rusty ...
"Chào buổi tối (Good evening) Ren. That was amazing, as usual. Maybe we can play together sometime?" Vincent asked as he attempted to dodge her friend Nina's arm as she tried to make room for the Music Princess. He then went to grab some sort of food to keep his blood pressure up and avoid falling asleep again and noticed that Ren was looking at the Wall of Winners. Vincent was the odd student out who wouldn't mind not participating as he found it too stressful, and he had enough to do this year without having to worry about the Showdown. It would be great to participate in it but it just wasn't his idea of fun.
"Thinking about the Showdown again? You think about that too much, think too much and your hair will turn white and fall out." Vincent said humorously as he glanced at Ren.
Ren set her chin on the back of her hand, directing her attention to the boy in her grade and grinned her usual bright smile.
"I was just wondering. Now that the Killer Twins are gone, who do think is going to win? I mean, eh, you know what I mean."
She grabbed Nina's arm and told her to settle down, that Vincent was fine and welcome here. Nina mock saluted and dug into her own plate of delicious food, talking to someone across her. "Besides, I've thought about my music way more than that and my hairs still luscious and beautiful, yeah?"
She jokingly fluffed her hair and laughed, scooping some vegetables into her plate. It would be nice to have her name on the Wall of Winners though, embedded into that wall forever...winning the Cup that was adorned with Topaz's, and having them removed at replaced with Rubies.
Sofia got up from the table, walking over to the wall where all of awards, and the only award she wanted were. Engraved in the trophy was a Topaz, this year that would change into an Aquamarine, Sofia would make sure of it, she didn’t compete at all for the past four years, in order to keep her surprises a surprise. Though she had to admit, those air twins would have been spectacular to go up against. She bent down and imagined what it would look like with the water jewel in it; she smiled, like actually smiled. She stepped back and admired the wall, reading off all of the awards, and stopping at her own, for ‘Top of The Class Award’ she had gotten a fish bowl filled with sparkling water and her named engraved in it, a pretty beta fish swam in it, the janitors took care of feeding the fish behind the glass case. The wall with her award was parellel to the wall that held the trophy for the year round competition she had set her whole being on. It made for a very regal settup.
The petite girl was so caught up in her own thoughts that she actually didn’t notice her surroundings, and when she noticed she had her guard down she spun around on her heels, almost crashing into a third year passing by. “Oh I’m sorry!” He exclaimed, Sofia stepped back and didn’t answer, simply nodded and turned back to the wall, waiting for the dessert to show up on the table.
Reaslu sat at his table, fingering the bright blue sapphire he had removed from his plate. It's color reminded him if his Element, as it was meant to do. He reminisced about the last four years he was here. He stayed back Freshman year, mainly on purpose... But it gave him more time to give him the amazing control he had now. He could manipulate water in ways many have only dreamed about... Most could only manage whips and bullets by sophomore year, but he was already shaping it into small animals... And as he gazed into the precious gem, he recalled the first time he created a dragon. He almost won the Showdown. But someone in air blew it right back into him... But that was last year... He was a Senior now, and a damn good one at that. Nearly top of the class... And as he gazed at the glittering sapphire, he knew this could be his year. It absolutely had to be...
But his thoughts were interrupted by a booming "Let the feast begin!" He set down the sapphire onto his lap and helped himself to a large portion of the ham in front of him. He slathered it in honey mustard, and carved a large piece into his mouth. If there was one thing he loved, it was meat.
Sitting at his table Nova listened to the introduction and the violinest. Twirling his coin in the palm of his hand Nova thinks about the all people who would be stepping up this year now that those two twins are gone. "Well This wasn't a bad feast" Nova mutters to himself as he begins to wander around the school. Flipping his coin as he walks catching it he looks at the side thats up. Ouroboros, the serpent eating its own tail is this a sign or just a coin flip.
"^___________^; So excited for the new school year... I hate being at home with my annoying parents -_-;;" Pandora thought.
She didn't pay attention to the speech, she already heard it last year. She looked around at her Earth table and giggled to herself when she saw the nervous freshmen. A cute freshman girl was sitting next to her.
Hey you! Pandora turned to face the girl. Don't be nervous, it's awesome here. They have a reallllllly cool fencing team and there are a lot of people who kick ass at Super Smash and that's all I did last year in the dorms wahaha
Eh... erm.. I don't like sports or video games much ;;; the timid girl replied.
Oh.
Pandora looked at her with a slightly disgusted expression and turned to face her plate.
As the beautiful anthem was playing, Pandora kept eyeing the Cup, vowing that this year it will be covered in sparkling emeralds. When the anthem was done she began surveying all the tables in the dining hall. It was unfortunate that although she had many friends, she had the least amount of friends in her own House. She was contemplating whether or not to go over to the Fire table to chill with her buddies Ren and Vincent, but then decided she was too lazy to move and started to cut her delicious juicy steak
Alexandro had been sitting at the Water table, listening politely to the head's speech. Or maybe he had just been zoning out. At the word feast, however, he started moving. He filled his plate with food of all sorts, mostly spicy things that reminded him of home. He was happy he was here instead though. Although not as well known as LA's or New York's, every city did have gang wars, and his house in San Diego happened to be prime turf. Here he could make friends, (not that he really had many) and practice his element. He was already good with it, on a senior's level, maybe, but he wanted to be better. He practiced it as he had practice football back in the day, and now he was one of the best playmakers in SD. He turned to the person next to him, a black haired guy with red on the tips of his hair, just trying to get involved in the chatter all round. "So, where are you from, hombre?"
Silverose
Laryn: He's not dead. Dogs may die, but cats have nine lives.
S-9:*chuckles* That guy's harder to rub out than the viruses in ancient computer programs.
Ash: Thanks a lot, guys. So what am I, an infectious cat?
Ren turned her attention to a certain person looking at the opposite wall of the Wall of Winners, which was the Wall of Awards. It was where outstanding students were given a silver mantelpiece to hang on the wall if they were at the top of the class. Ren had managed to get one with her name on it last year, but she had to struggle a little and study very hard.
The girl standing there had white hair and purple eyes, a strange but interesting combination. Ren noted that she had the complete opposite colors from herself, while she had blackish-blue hair and honey golden eyes. Also, she noticed her rising from the Water table.
"Well, that just goes to show the different kinds of people here..." she mumbled to herself, and tore her eyes away, cutting away into a small steak.
"Brazil, my friend." He said, and ate a heaping mouthful of potatoes. "And yourself, hombre?" He mimicked with a smile.
"Me? I'm from San Diego." He pronounced San Diego with an unmistakable Mexican accent. Although he spoke perfect English, sometimes his Mexican roots would slip through the craps. He took a hunk off a drumstick before talking again.
"So, you're from Brazil, si? Do you play any football down there?" It would have been nice if he did. While he was here, never had anyone to play against.
"That's what I meant. I might have been born in SD, but my tongue comes from south of the boarder." That was perfect. Another futbol player here. Someone he could play against. "My name's Alexandro Castillo, amigo. Nice to meet you. What grade are you in?" Alex stuck out his hand and shook Reaslu. Nice, first day of the year and a new friend.
