Roses

Proof that even the most of things are painful.

The Revolutionary Academy isn't anything less than magnificant. From the towering skyscraper like buidlings to the sanctioned forbidden gardens. The beauty of this incredible establishment leaves many in awe. Probably the most important quality to the academy's overall popularity, other than the fact that it's tallest building can be seen from atlest 500 miles away, is it's unique Elites. While open to all walks of life and races of all kind, those with abilities and powers that are overwhelmingly superior to the normal student, deadly to the weak, and a notch or so better than the experts are in a league of their own. They are seen as the Elites, but nick named the Rose Council, despite the fact that they weren't a real a council. Why this name? Well because of the Roses they are given once recognized as an Elite. These Roses range in a variety of colors, and each is unique to enhance it's owners powers to an even higher level.

The Rose Council

This council is only for the elite of the elite. They are known for the roses they wear in their shirts. Each member has a different color rose. Whether it be their riches, genius mind, or another aspect, if they are in the council then there is no doubt that they're ability is unmatched. Even though each member of the coucil is different, they all have a duty. There is a ranking of the members of the Rose Council; from 1 to (however many members there are). Whoever is considered number 1 is also considered a Ruler over the entire Academy. Like an emporer, his or her word is absolute until their are replaced. The other council members are to be the head of another part of the academy based on their personality.

The Red Rose Academy itself is a place where all people from different races are allowed to come to hone their skills in battle from melee combat to magic and sorcery. Training facilities are set up with a top-notch instructors who teach everything from hand-to-hand combat, Sword dueling/Fencing, Aim and Shoot, and trick targeting to elemental manipulation, dark and light summonings, Dark Magic, Healing spells and much more.

Her life was not normal. But what is normal? It was a word so foriegn to her, that she herself wasn't entierly sure what to make of it. It had been years since Luna had ever experienced something that was even close to the word normal. But here, at this amazing school, she felt more at home then she had ever felt in her entire life. The school was a peaceful place for her to go, she didn't go home like a lot of the other students did after the year was over, she stayed there. She was one of the few students who did.

It was a greatful thing to be staring up at the cold iron gates that lead inside of the school grounds. It was more welcoming then frightening, at least thats how it felt to Luna. She noticed many new students when they came here for the first time, it was obvious to point them out. They looked so scared and so nervous to be here, she felt slightly sorry for them. But she knew they would adjust, everyone did.

She wondered if she would meet anyone new this year. So far she only had two friends, Zane and Raphial, but they seemed more like brothers and sister than anything else. Whenever people saw them together they called them the Triplets of Terror. She had to laugh at that. Not because it was funny, but because it was the sad, sad, truth. Especially when it came to Luna. People had a nickname for her at this school. They called her the Oricale. Because not only could she see into the future, but she could literaly stop and and slow down time to her hearts content, making her a very dangers person.

It was this fact that Luna tried her best to stay away from as many people as possible. She knew they resented her power and abilities. Not many students who came here knew much about their powers and what they could do with them, but they tried, and that was all the Teachers asked for. Luna wasn't particularly happy about being singled out amongst her peers, but there was nothing that she could do about it, except for trying harder every day.

When she had met Zane and Raphial, it had made her feel so happy, because they understood how Luna felt. Mainly because they had their own massive powers and abilities that even stunned Luna. Zane was an elementalist. For those who don't know what that is, it is someone who is very intuned with the elements. And not just the basic Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. But wood, and metal, along with lightning. It was a rather scary power, to think someone like Zane could manipulate such strong forces in our lives.

And Raphial's power to her was the scariest of them all. He was known as a Tweaker. Or someone who can go into anothers mind and twist their thoughts into whatever they wanted. Raphial never used his powers for evil. Except for when he wanted a good grade on a test or something like that. With the three of them together, it was no wonder they were called the Triplets of Terror.

It was the last day before school actually started. Many of the students came early to get their bedrooms set up, others waited last minute to get everything ready. For Elizabeth, it was rather amusing to watch the other students hustle and bustle about the dorms. It was actually welcomed to her. She didn't have much company other than a few of the teachers. But she didn't mind that. A lot of the students here at the school weren't the best company. And she really liked the Professors here at the school.

Now it was time to go out and back into the real world. She let out a small yawn and got up from her spot on the bed. She had been staring out of the window, thinking about what would happen this year at school. So far, things had actually been quit uneventful. It was actually boring last year besides the spring dance that they had every year in the training room. Otherwise, there had been no accidents last year, no deaths, it had been very calm and peaceful, a welcomed change to a lot of people.

She got up from her bed and walked outside to the hallway. A few students were already in their rooms, doors wide open to reveal what they were doing inside. The girls and the boys dorms were seperated, the girls resided on the south end while boys were at the north end of the campus. It was better to do it that way. Long ago when the dorms were coed, there had been some issues with some boys and girls on campus. But it had all worked out for the best. Luna finally made it out to the school grounds and watched as both boys and girls walked back onto the campus. And then, she felt a pair of hands cover her eyes and she jumped. "Guess who Luna Bug?" A husk voice whispered into her ear. "Zane" Luna said and turned to stare up at her best friend. Out of the two boys, she got along with Zane the best. Luna smiled and he smiled back. He was not only increadibly gifted by his powers, but God had also gifted him with looks as well. He had dark curly blonde hair, with deep grey eyes that looked like storm clouds, he had olive toned skin, and the body of a God. "Miss me?" He asked with a laugh.
Luna smiled and wrapped Zane into a tight hug, "yes of course I missed you, where's Raphial?"

"He's probably around here somewhere. You know, start of a new year and all...he's probably trying to get a new girlfriend or something" Zane said with a wide smile on his face, he reached a hand up and ruffled Luna's hair.
She laughed and shook her head softly, "Your probabably right as usual. Next time I see him I'm gunna..." But before she could finish her sentance she felt arms wrap around her waist and she was spun around. "Your gunna do...what?" Came a soft and velvety voice in her ear.

When she was sat back down she was dizy, and didn't know where she was, everything was spinning. She turned and there was Raphial right in her face. "Geez Rafe, what's your deal huh?" She asked and took a step back to regain her balance. Finally when her eyes focused she glared up at Raphial. "Can you not controle yourself?" She asked and placed her hands on her hips as she stared up at Rafe. "Sorry sweetheart, you know I can't resist bugging my favorite girl," He said with a plastered smirk on his face.

Raphial was probably the most cocky boy in the entire school. He thought he was the absolute greatist. And it wasn't just because he had fantastic looks. Picture the greek God Apollo and you would be pretty close to perfect. And not only that, but it was because of his powers that he thought he was so fantastic. "At least I don't have to mess with a poor girls mind to get her to like me" Luna said with a matching smirk.
"Ouch..that really hurt Luna..." Raphial said, gripping onto his heart as if it had hurt him.
"Your such an annoyance" She said, rolling her eyes at him, but that just made him grin widder. He bent down and kissed her cheek, quickly ducking away before she could hit him, "but you love me anyway" He said with a smirk.
"Now matter what may come to be, always remember. The sun will rise and fall every day. Your world will not end, you will continue to grow and learn. You will not fall, you will provail."

Sapphire sat on the windowsill as the wind blew in the room as it lifted her hair from her back flowing gently. She stared into the sky. She liked living in the girl's dorms. It was too empty and lonely in her small apartment. No noise, no chattering, no footsteps. Although it didn't matter to much to Sapphire, she just felt more comfortable in the school and in the dorms. Her emotionless eyes slanted towards the doorway. It was time she should stop hanging in her small room. No point in it anyway. Sapphire pushed off the windowsill with her hands as she stood up and brushed some of her long black hair aside. She had stayed at the dorms over the vacation since she had no reason to go back to the apartment anyway. Sapphire had come to the academy since she was very young and had stayed there ever since. Sapphire wore her blue long dress and black knee high socks. If there was a school uniform, which Sapphire wasn't sure if there was, then it was too bad for the school. Sapphire wore a blue rose in her hair which indicated she was one of the elite of the elite people of the academy. The blue rose had a see through frabic that hung from the rose and it was hemmed blue at the edges. It was unusual for her to wear a blue rose in her hair. Most of the elite people of the academy tucked their roses in their shirts. However, Sapphire had it in her hair. Besides, Sapphire doesn't wear shirts, but dresses instead. Also, her rose was a very rare and unique color. It was blue which didn't appear in natural wild roses. Sapphire like it that way though, she like the color blue.

Sapphire walked out the room and closed the door behind her as some students that were here last here murmured about her. She was known as the necromancer in the school because of her abilities and many people feared her and stayed away from her. Not that Sapphire cared, she stayed away from them as well. She looked to the right and saw Luna. Luna was here at the academy last year too and was in the same class as her so Sapphire knew about her. She didn't quite get why people stayed away from Luna that much. She didn't seem that threatening. Besides, Luna probably wouldn't use her powers for a foolish cause. Sapphire noticed that Luna's room was right next to her's and looked up at the two boys that were hanging out with Luna. Sapphire knew those two boys since they hange around Luna so much. Zane and Raphial was their name probably. Many people knew about them. Knew them as the Triplets of Terror. Not that they seemed too dangerous. After all no one was foolish enough to use their powers for stupid purposes.

Sapphire looked at the small blueish soul balls that were in each of their bodies. She could see souls and it was natural to her. Almost like the same as breathing. From the souls, she could tell if someone was healthy or not or if they were about to die. When someone's about to die, their soul starts turning red. After it turns red, it takes about a day for the person to die. A minute or second before a person dies, their soul turns black. Their sould will then lift out of their body and turn yellow indicating that they have died and passed on. The sould would then disappear to somewhere that Sapphire has yet to figure out.

Sapphire's eyes showed no emotion, but decided it rude if not to greet Luna. After all, Luna was about the closest person to her although not very close. About classmates. That was the closest anyone has been to her, classmates. Everyone else was farther than classmates. Thought her as some unreachable item or something. She started walking towards Luna and stopped 10 feet away. "Good morning." Sapphire said showing no emotion. Her voice was as clear as the breeze, but cold and icy. Sapphire patted her dress as some wrinkles formed in the fabric. She slanted her eyes to the few students that stood near her murmuring. As soon as the students saw her glare, they quickly ran off silently whispering, "She's scary as usual huh?" Sapphire turned her eyes to look at Luna once again. If she wasn't going to say anything, she will go somewhere else and do something.

Before Luna could say something threatening to Raphiel she heard the very familer, soft and emotionless voice that belonged to only one person. Sapphire. Luna lifted her head up towards the girl in the blue dress and gave her a gentle smile. She had known Sapphire since last year. They weren't friends, and it saddened Luna too see that Sapphire didn't have any at all. She chose to be alone and emotionless it seemed. Luna didn't really understand it at all, but she wasn't about to question Sapphire on why she chose to be that way. It was none of her business so she wasn't about to pry. "Morning Sapphire" Luna said in a cheerful voice and gave her a more welcoming smile. "Good Morning Sapphire, nice to see you" Zane said as well. He wanted to be just as polite to Sapphire as Luna did. But Raphiel wasn't as polite as they were.

"Well I'd love to stay and chat but I see a cute new girl coming this way" Raphiel said and gave the three of them a quick wink before skipping off in the direction towards a girl who looked very lost. Luna let out a small sigh and shook her head. She didn't know why he was like that, but it really ircked her. But she was still friends with him. "I really hope someone can give him a taste of his own medicane one of these days" Luna whispered and shook her head back and forth slowly when Rafe started flirting with the new girl who was flirting back. She knew that Rafe didn't have to manipulate her mind to get her to flirt with him, but sometimes she really didn't know.

The only good thing about today was probably going to be the weather. It was a bright blue day outside, even though it was still summer time, it wasn't overly hot outside. It was probably in the low 70's or something along those lines, and there was a nice soft breeze as well. It felt increadibly good against her skin. Finally Luna looked back at Sapphire and smiled again, "Did you sleep alright?" she asked in a friendly and somewhat concerned voice.

Vladimer always pushed people away not letting anyone get close. He had no friends even though he had been at the school for a year now. That and there didn't seem to be to many others around the school that were his age. He did however know some of the students that were in his classes, most of which were filled with students much older than himself. He spent most of his time in his room with the door locked studying just as something to do. Socializing with anyone at the school even the teachers was kept to a minimum. He was pretty much considered a book worm. For someone so young he felt that he was very bright and probably smarter than most of the students here.

He was walking down the hall holding about 16 books on his way to his room and passed by Luna. As he walked by he said "ello" and turned shutting the door to his room. He didn't feel as if he was mean he just didn't let anyone get close. He just felt scared when anyone started to get to know him. Being only 12 he still couldn't keep his temper under control and he knew that he still had lots to learn. He pulled his rose off the top of his ear and placed it down on the table and opened one of the books that he had planned on reading.

In his readings he found that it was possible to bring people back from the dead but you would have to find some way to bind their soul to another body. Even if you find another body the soul has to be willing to take the body. He had already read through all the books he needed to read for any classes in the school so with the time he spends in his room he looks up hidden maybe even dark or unknown magics and abilities that exist. With his findings he know in the school who are the most dangerous students. He knows that he is among them with knowing that his fire does not require oxygen to burn, it has to die out on its own. He also looked up powers that others have had that were similar to his. Like with his melding ability he might be able to start controlling it. He also pondered on whether or not he had more powers locked away within him. Only time would let him know.

Sapphire nodded as Luna and Zane greeted her. They were pretty nice and polite, maybe that's why they were able to be at least classmates to her. The other one, Raphiel, wasn't so friendly not that she cared. She watched as Raphiel skip towards a girl. She didn't know how he could flirt so much. She was just lucky he didn't flirt with her. Sapphire looked up at Luna as she asked her a question. "Yes. I slept fine. Did you guys sleep well?" Sapphire asked. It was a polite conversation. A polite conversation appropriate for people who weren't too close, but know each other. No need to get too friendly and ask what each person was doing and get nosy. Sapphire looked at the boy who just past them that said hi to Luna. Around 12 probably. Sapphire didn't really know this boy, but just that his name seemed to be Vladimer or something like that. He was in a way famous in this school because of his age. Sapphire treated him as a stranger so he treated her as a stranger.

Sapphire looked at Luna then Zane. Maybe she could stay for a while longer. Soon though, class will be starting and they still needed to eat breakfast. Her stomach grumbled softly seeming to agree with her. Sapphire put her hand on her stomach and looked at it. If it gets any louder, she will really have to go eat something. She doesn't want to make herself stand out anymore than she already is. Sapphire would rather just blend into the background, but her clothes, her personality, it just made her stand out although she didn't intend her to. That was just the way Sapphire was.

"Should we get going to breakfast?" Sapphire asked without emotion. If they didn't want to then fine. She will go by herself. No problem, she had been alone for the past years ever since her memory started so being alone wasn't much to her. Or at least that was what she thought. Sapphire didn't quite know why she was emotionless in the first place. However, she did know that her past was somehow connected to it. She hopes one day to figure out her past, but is scared to find out what happened. Sapphire looked at the poor girl that was flirting with Raphiel. She would love to posses Raphiel and make things clear with the girl, but she had no reason to and she would rather not butt into other people's business. Besides, they will get their punishment sooner or later.

"Another year. So many young souls to consume into shadow."

Leaning against a balcony railing on a second floor walkway, Professor Nathan Matchitehew (or Professor Nathan to his students) stood overlooking the main courtyard leading into the academy. Having been a teacher at the academy for a few years now, he could easily recognize many of his former students. He saw a certain collection of students who had gathered that he knew. Luna, Zane, Raphial, and Sapphire were all talking. There were other students he recognized, but those four stuck out. They had done very well in his class and also had quite the reputation surrounding them, which might have been why he was so drawn to them due to his own reputation.

It had gotten out a couple years earlier that there was a teacher at the academy who was combating creatures from the shadows, and was even possessed by one. The thought of a professor not having control over his own powers scared many students, and even a few teachers. It didn't help when they found out it was Nathan, because he already looked like a dangerous individual. His face was always distraught-looking, never smiling and hardly ever showing any emotion at all due to his many years fighting against his powers so he wouldn't be controlled by them. It had been a long and hard journey, but ever since attending the academy, he had gotten much better.

"It would be so easy to kill them all. Your powers are unmatched."

Whispers in his head sounded like someone was right behind him. But Nathan knew that he was alone on the balcony and knew exactly who, or what, was talking to him. Contained within him was an evil and murderous shadow that wanted nothing more then to spill innocent blood and live the life of a murderer. Before the academy, the shadow could easily take control of Nathan's body and use him to do whatever evil deeds. But the creature was suppressed right now, harmless unless called upon. However, the whispers of this menacing being echoed in Nathan's head. All he could do was ignore them, and that's all he did.

Looking down at the black rose that was pinned to his long black coat, Nathan brushed his fingers along the peddles. It was funny that such a simple token was able to contain such a powerful creature enough to ensure that it didn't take control any more. Nathan's gaze returned to the group of students and watched as Raphial ran after a new female student. Love wasn't uncommon in the academy, but it sometimes sickened Nathan to see people happy since he knew he would never be happy. He could never let himself get close to anyone for fear of his guard going down and whoever was with him getting hurt.

Thinking about the school year, Nathan began contemplating how many students he would have this year around. Normally, his classes were fairly small with not too many students having a desire to learn to defend themselves against something that hardly existed. The dark arts had died out and very few still practiced them. Nathan had only met one other person who was wise in the ways of the shadows, but had never seen him since. Nathan figured whatever was controlling him had gotten him killed, which wasn't uncommon.

Sighing, Nathan stood upright and looked at the front gates. Their menacing look to new students or random passerby were comforting to Nathan. Somewhat like a home, or a sanctuary. He adjusted his coat and prepared to head to breakfast as he was getting fairly hungry.

"Kill them all. It's what you are meant to do."

Kestrel dragged her suitcase up to the front gates. She looked at them, and blinked a few times. They looked pretty menacing, but it wasn't something she couldn't fix. With a slight smile, she imagined hundreds of roses entwined into the metal and then put her hand on her hip, satisfied. Sometimes she loved her power. With another little glance at the gates, she grabbed her suitcase again and began the trek to her dorm.

This year, was only Kestrel's second year at the school. In the time she'd been here, she'd not gotten to know anybody. In fact, she'd been so frightened last year, that she didn't talk at all. Not many people knew about her power, and they called her the mute, because of her silence. This year, Kestrel saw as a new start. She hoped she could shake off that nickname and make some new friends. It may be a long shot, but worth a try surely?

Once again, Kestrel was faced with more stairs as she worked her way up to her room. 'You'd think they'd install a lift or something.' She thought and then shrieked as her jacket caught on the edge of the banister rail. She tumbled backwards hitting nearly every freaking step on the way down. Luckily, she'd managed to camoflage herself, just in time so nobody saw her. Once she landed, with a thump and a bruise on her arm, Kestrel picked herself up again and stroked the white rose that was tied around her wrist. "Thank you," she whispered and smiled. It was times like this, when one was thankful for their powers.

Kestrel made her way up the stairs again. Once she reached the top, she was more than a little flustered and had to stop to wipe her brow. Then she saw the Triplets of Terror, or two of them anyway, who really didn't seem that terrible at all. She decided, that now would be a good time to try and make some new friends. So, as she tried to control her breathing, she slowly sauntered over to them, noticing another girl with a blue rose in her hair stood next to them. She smiled a little. "Hey. I hope you don't mind my intrusion, but I don't think I've ever met you before." She looked at them, hoping they wouldn't think her weird. "My names Kestrel, Kestrel White."

Rosenthal walked the corridors of his dorms.Terrible weather he thought, as the sun glistened through the window. As all vampires he hated the sun, but he was immune to its harmful effects.Rosenthal was unknown to most the people in the academy, he always sat at the back of the class and when possible he would be in his dorm room.He had decided recently that he must change this to reap the most rewards.Just listening to the teachers and eavesdropping on students was not enough to continue advancing his powers at the current rate.He needed more.People whispered about him as he walked by their rooms.People knew his name but nothing more, most didn't even know what he looked like as he had his hood up most of the time. But from now on he never would.Rosenthal was pale but good looking. He had very distinct features compared to everyone else at the academy.Good cheek bone structure, fangs...but he kept these hidden and as far as he was aware he was the only vampire in the entire academy. And so he looked down on others with few exceptions.

Lately he had studied the other powerful people of the academy. There was only a few who interested him.One group being this so called "Triplets of Terror."But for him only one in the group stood out.Rosenthal believed that the most powerful of powers was the dark arts, but rumour had reached Rosenthals ears that this girl possesed a power that was not in this category but possibly as or more powerful than some of the greater spells in Rosenthals arsenal.Time.Although he did not know the extent of power or how much energy it used, he knew to control time was a hard thing to do, and once it was mastered it was easily one of the best skills.Luna was her name if he recalled correctly.Rosenthal believed that if she could provide him with some knowledge, it we be the key to the door per se for the greatest of the dark arts techniques. But first he needed to know how much she could control this power or how it worked.

Dark and brooding, Rosenthal made his way out into the school grounds.Rosenthal had not drank blood today. He had decided it would be best to wait until nightfall to do it.As doing it now would only give him away and possibly get him expelled.A thought struck him. What if he were to sneak into Luna's room during the night and attempt to drink her blood? It was a win win situation. If she were to stop him he would learn of her powers and if she did not he would add some of her blood to his own.His rose made it so that every time he drank someones blood it would add to his own store, the more powerful the person, the more effectiveness the blood had when he used his powers. And thus, his power could grow to limitless lengths, considering that vampires were immortal. When he drank blood there was three things that could happen.Simply just drink their blood and usually without waking them if he concentrated, drink to much blood so they would die or turn them into a vampire. He clearly knew which was which but he had never turned anyone into a vampire because he thought that was impure.Rosenthal thought that if he did that it would be an insult to the Pure-blood vampire race and Dracula himself.Rosenthal had heard something unusual about the dark arts teacher, but he was not within eyesight so he couldn't discuss it with him now.He had never really payed attention in that class because he much preferred to use the dark arts offensivly, rather than learn about ways to defend yourself against them.Rosenthal thought that was a waste of time.Rosenthal still made a mental reminder to talk with him later.

Rosenthal came out onto the school grounds and noticed quite a few people, but Rosenthal only payed attention to a few of them.A young boy whos powers and name he did not know, Luna and a girl called Sapphire. This was probably the closest proximity he had been to all of them.He was only about 10 meters away.Rosenthal knew that Sapphires power had something to do with souls. This interested Rosenthal as he had heard that vampires do not have souls. It amazed him though that his rose did not store this knowledge, so it would imply that this would be a lie.Yet something unusual happened, the rose kept this knowledge active within his brain, as if to imply that the information was true.Part of him wanted to ask Sapphire about this, and part of him did not.It was if two minatures of himself stood on his shoulders. One telling him to go over and ask and the other telling him how much he despised humans. He was within hearing distance and before he decided to walk over he heard someone say "My names Kestrel, Kestrel White."It was the girl beside Sapphire.

He walked over to where the group of them were standing."Hello..."He said to the group scratching his head. This would be the first time he opened up a conversation with anyone at the academy. He peered at Sapphire with his cold gaze. She had an emotionless face."Err...umm...Do I have a soul?"he said to Sapphire. What a weird thing to say first Rosenthal thought.Trying to enlighten the mood Rosenthal did a huge grin revealing his fangs. He was facing Sapphire so no one else could see but her and Kestrel. He quickly retracted his grin.He knew Sapphire had seen, but he was unsure about Kestrel so he held his index finger to his lips to signal to keep quiet about that.Wow im terrible at introducing myself to people Rosenthal thought.I guess thats what I get for never socialising with anybody.Rosenthal braced himself for what was to come.He was worried they might scream out that he was a vampire and he could get expelled.
"See these revolvers
That's why they call us
The same reason the police ain't never caught us
I'm on another level words from a true rebel
I rock your ass and I ain't talking heavy"

Kestrel watched as the boy smiled, showing his fangs. She was glad he'd broken the silence, glad she wasn't the only one stood there introducing herself. She smiled back at him, acting as if she'd never noticed. It was hard having something different about you - Standing out wasn't always a good thing. With a sigh, she looked at the others, unsure of what to say next. She hadn't spoken to anybody properly in years and had a bit of a mental block when it came to making conversation. She took in a breath, imagining herself as someone who was strong, and definately not shy. It worked and something like confidence flooded through her.
"So, I'm guessing none of you are new here?" She smiled again. "I mean, last year, I never really noticed who was here and who wasn't." She shrugged. "First year in school had to be the most terrifying time of my life." She chuckled and then realised she was babbling a little. With a blush, she looked at the floor, willing the ground to suck her up.

(Aye,Aye, Sorry it's so short. Conversation, ya'no? :S)

Before Luna could answer Sapphire she froze completely. It was like someones eyes were bouring into her soul or something. She knew what Sapphire could do but she was pretty sure it wasn't the strangely emotionless girl in front of her. Luna quickly looked upwards towards the northern district of the large Academy and saw Professor Nathan looking in their direction. Out of all the teachers she found him the most interesting. It seemed that he didn't talk to anyone besides a few of the teachers and students on occasion, but thats when they had a question about the lesson, and he would answer in the same monotone like voice as if he were bored of what was going on. Even so, he was her favorite teacher. She loved all the teachers, but there was just something about Professor Nathan that intriqued her. But she quickly looked away from him and looked back down at Sapphire, thats when she heard Zane great someone else. "Oh, hey there Kestrel, nice to see you."

Luna looked up at the girl who was walking towards them and she smiled. "Hey Kestrel, nice to see you too" Luna said and tilted her head to the side. "I'm Amelia Rose...but please call me Luna. This is Zane Arus and Sapphire" Luna said, hoping they didn't mind if she introduced them, she saw no problem with it. And thats when she noticed a new boy walking towards them. She knew emediatly who he was and she kept her eyes focused on him until he stopped in front of them. She knew who he was, but didn't say anything at first. She moved her eyes over him for a moment and then something wierd happened. It was as if a veil had covered her eyes, clouding her vision to the world in front of her. And the next thing she knew she was standing in the middle of a dark courtyard, no one was around her, but she felt like eyes were watching her. And then she heard a cold voice coming from behind her and when she turned she saw a pair of dark eyes looking back at her through the brush. But before she could see anything else the veil lifted and she let out a small gasp.

Zane was right there beside her as well as Raphiel, he had this wierd sort of thing with her that she couldn't explain. It was like he could feel when she was seeing a "vision" and emediatly came right back to her. "What did you see?" Zane asked emediatly, his face stone hard. Raphiels face was serious...for once, and he waited for Luna to answer. "I'm fine..." She said simply and glanced quickly at the new boy, Rosenthal was his name she remembered it now. She didn't say anything but just continued to look at him for a second before pulling her eyes away. "It was nothing. It was just me standing in the middle of the courtyard, nothing major" She said and shrugged it off as if it were nothing important. Zane frowned at her but didn't push the matter while Raphiel folded his arms and tapped his foot. "was it about..." He began but Zane cut him off. "Come on...lets go and get something to eat you guys" He said and pushed Raphiel forward. "You coming?" Zane shouted back at the others. "I'm not hungry, you guys go on, I'm going to head off to get somethings" Luna said and started to walk off, waving back to everyone, feeling a wierd sence of dread.

(Sorry, I had to edit lol)

Kestrel smiled and waved at the others. "It's really good to meet you all." She was just about to suggest they go eat, when something weird happened. Luna seemed to glaze over. She looked like she was watching a television that only she could see - The programme she was watching didn't look good.

Kestrel watched the others rush to her side, this girl sure had a lot of people who cared about her. Ignoring the pang of sadness she felt in her stomach, she glanced at the vampire that'd approcahed them. Maybe it was something to do with him? As the situation got more and more tense, Ketrel dropped her eyes to the floor, not wanting to stare. She noticed her hands weren't there and shook them slightly, trying to not let them camoflage. Her body always did this if it was slightly nervous; It was uncontrollable.

When everything seemed to have calmed down, she looked up under her lashes. Everyoby's faces were still tense, so she sent pictures of beautiful flowers into everyone's mind. It was a picture full of positivity; Even Kestrel felt a little lifted by it. She stroked the white rose on her wrist again, and watched as Luna walked away. There was something still wrong with her, it was obvious. Kstrel resisted the urge to follow her. She didn't know what it was, but she felt... protective over this girl. Maybe it was the rumours about her being so special? With a sigh, she looked at the others and raised her eyebrow lightly.
"Mm, yeah, let's eat." She grinned. "Do you mind if I leave my suitcase here, until we get back? I had an incident on the stairway with it before, and don't fancy reliving it." She chuckled as she remembered.

Sapphire looked at the girl who had approached them. Sapphire's eyes flickered slightly as the girl stood next to her. She barely heard the girl's introduction and only noticed the difference in height. The girl seemed to be a foot taller than her, but that wasn't possible. Sapphire was already considered short and had been teased by clueless kids after they figured out that she was an 'old lady' according to the kids. Yes she was old compare to those 8 year olds, but if she was old, what was their parents? Still, the difference in height slightly bothered her, but she kept her composure and her emotionless face stuck on. She heard Luna introduce her to the girl and picked out the name Kestrel. An interesting name, one she never heard of before. Out of politeness, she said, "Nice to meet you." and didn't say anymore. If it wasn't for her politeness, she wouldn't even bother to say anything to this girl. After all, she was a stranger, maybe even further than that after a few moments or days. It depends though. Sapphire could be rude or polite depending what she felt like being and who the person was. She tended to be more polite to the ones that didn't hesitate too much and had correct language in speaking and tended to be rude to those who hesitated and couldn't quite talk.

Sapphire looked up slightly as a boy came up to them. This guy was even taller than the girl and this time had to be at least a foot taller than her. She wasn't bothered though since guys ought to be a lot taller than the girls. She smoothed her dress and placed her hands in front of her, resting them on top of the dress. She listened to this boy simply out of politeness and because she felt the soul was different, different in an inhumanly way. She glanced at the fangs that the boy seemed to intend to show her. A vampire. She read it in books before, but never really thought there existed one out there. Sapphire was a bit irritated by his question. She hated when people hesitated or stuttered. They should just say what they want to say. It bothered her like someone poking her all day long. "You should properly introduce yourself, but since you got the courage to ask, I'll tell you." Sapphire stated giving him a slight glare.

Sapphire closed her eyes. She was a bit curious herself to see what the soul would look like. She saw souls on a regular basis, but usually ignored the image seeming it to be weird and awkward. She opened them and stared at the boy's chest looking at the soul. It was a bit different, a ghostly one that seemed to glare at you. It had no hint of color, none at all, just plain white. It was odd, a sorrow feeling was what it let out. One that showed it had no life, but was immortal. Alive, but not alive. It was a weird and sorrowful feeling and she quickly turned her eyes away. Everything had a soul like Sapphire thought. Even trees and plants have souls so it wasn't possible that a vampire didn't have one. Then, a sudden image of the past filled her vision...

There was a young girl, one that was around 6 and looked like Sapphire. And then another girl. Another girl he same age as her, and looked exactly like Sapphire, but the complete opposite. They stood together unmoving in front of a large mirror that was 10 times as tall as them and the width was 3 times larger than the two girls put together. It was a dark room with the crescent moon hanging in the sky. Nothing moved and nothing happened. They just stood there as the ground suddenly shook and both girls fell to the ground. The ground shook violently each second with more force...

Sapphire woke up from her daze of vision. It was awkward seeing that soul. It had made Sapphire uncomfortable and only the slightest emotion of unrest flickered on her face before her face showed no emotion once again. "Everything has souls. Yours particularly because of what you are, is unique. Not the same. Alive, but not. Showing life, but not." Sapphire stated without emotion. It was clear and the statement was sure to have an impact on the boy. She could tell from his soul that what he lived for and his life was empty. Sapphire's insides churned. Was that a memory of her past or a clue? Only time would tell.

She turned her attention to Luna and watched as Zane and Raphiel asked Luna if she was alright and some other things. She could tell Luna just had a vision of the future, a vision of her future and could tell the vision was not quite good. Sapphire was good at reading emotions and good at hiding her own although there was no emotion for her to hide. She watched as the others left to breakfast and watched as Luna walked off giving a sense of dread. She lifted up one of her sleeves revealing a small blue butterfly tattoo on her forearm. "Watch over her." Sapphire whispered and the butterfly lifted off of her forearm only to be replaced with another. The butterfly was blue and ghostly and followed after Luna. She wasn't quite sure why she did this, but could tell that something not so great was going to happen soon. Soon only the vampire boy and her were left standing there. She didn't quite know what to say and decided to let the boy decided what was going to happen next. Whether they were going to talk, or if he was going to eat, or if he was going to simply walk away. His choice since it didn't quite mattered to Sapphire. The only thing that bothered her in a long time was that vision. It was a clue to her past, a clue, something precious to her. Something that can show who she was. Sapphire combed her hair with her fingers waiting to see what the boy would do.

The academy halls were bustling with students getting their rooms ready or trying to find their friends or figuring out what classes they had. Professor Nathan slowly walked amongst them like he wasn't even there, the students parting as he walked by. He wondered if this was because he was a teacher, or because he wasn't a force to be reckoned with. He stopped momentarily in front of a specific door in the halls. His classroom was clearly marked "Professor Matchitehew: Magical Self Defense". Opening the door, the classroom was empty other then the assorted desks for students and his desk at the head of the class. Nathan closed the door behind him and went to his desk.

You can't fight it. This place can't help you.

Nathan crouched down and faced the shadow that was being cast off of his desk. He sighed heavily and stepped into it as if the ground wasn't there. He vanished from the classroom.
Walking out from behind a door in the cafeteria, Nathan hadn't been noticed. The journey from his classroom to the cafeteria had been instantaneous, and people rarely ever noticed someone seeing to appear from a shadow. Every so often, someone saw him at the academy, and questioned how he did it. But that was only because the school was filled with people with special talents. Outside the walls of the school, people would just assume he had been there the whole time and hadn't seen him before. Few people believed that there was magic in the world. If only they knew the truth.

Students crowded the cafeteria, chattering away or giving small demonstrations of their abilities. Nathan resumed his slow walk through the large room retrieving himself a couple slices of toast and a glass of milk as he made his way over to the section of the cafeteria that had been made for teachers only. There weren't very many teachers who ate breakfast in the cafeteria. Many ate before they came to work or ate in their classrooms. Nathan wasn't much for spending time in his class. He tried to get out as much as possible, which often meant he would take his students with him and teach them outside. Sitting down by himself, Nathan began eating. Had he not been tormented for so long, he would be a very lonely person. The thought of the whispers in his head being what kept him company upset him. He didn't like the thought of forever being secluded because of this, but it was a fact. Most of the teachers even let him be alone.

They all loathe you. You should take your vengeance on them for their hatred of you.

His inner shadow fed off of Nathan's thoughts. He began trying to think of happy thoughts, looking at laughing students and trying to imagine what they could be laughing about. He thought of green pastures, butterflies, a wonderful family and a picnic they were having. But suddenly, dark creatures appeared on the green pastures, burning the grass as they walked. The butterflies fell from the sky and died. The family was killed where they sat, their screams echoing in Nathan's head.

You will never be happy.

Luna had continued to walk off, not caring exactly where she was going. One thing that she hated about her vision was sometimes her body would take her to the place where it would start. IT wasn't like she meant to do it, but her body reacted that way and she found herself in the courtyard a few minutes later. It was a large circular cortyard made up of stone bricks. THere was a large fountain in the center that spewed water from three angel like creatures mouths. This would look somewhat relaxing to most people, but it freaked Luna out just a little bit. She wasn't sure why, the figures weren't menacing in anyway. She wasn't aware of the butterfly phantom that Sapphire had following her. But she felt somewhat comforted by something , most likely the butterfly that was watching over her.

Luna walked over to sit on the edge of the fountain. There were hedges that covered the entire circle of the courtyard and there was a gap seperating them so you could enter in and out. But that was the only exit. Suddenly the vision seemed more real. She wasn't sure if it would happen tonight or in a few days, maybe weeks. She knew that it would be a different time when it happened, but she was still concerned on what would happen. She was here in the courtyard all alone now, but knew whatever that creature was it wouldn't atack her in broad daylight. And then she started to think about the boy who had aproached them earlier. Rosenthal was his name. He was a vampire and that was obvious. Even though he had been friendly and polite there was something menacing behind his actions that she couldn't point out.

She wasn't sure of his story. And when you came to this school there was always a story behind it. She was guesing something really bad must have happened to him. But of course something bad happened to most of them, thats how it always was. She knew Raphiel and Zane's stories, and wasn't about to go and pry into other peoples business like that, it just wasn't right. She let out a sigh and placed her elbows against her knees and rested her face in her hands. Class was going to start soon but she honestly didn't feel like attending today. But she knew that if she didn't attend Proffessor Nathans class she would be disapointed. His classes were always interesting. She stood up and started to get ready to leave, feeling a bit more calmed now.

Kestrel didn't speak as she walked down to the dining hall. She was used to the silence and found it somewhat... comforting. All these years she'd spent alone in silence, picturing comforting images in her head. It was like second nature now. However, no matter how many pictures of roses she dreamt up, it couldn't drag her away from the negative feelings she was getting. Back in the dorms, she'd witnessed something... significant. The way Luna had blanked, the way Rosenthal had smiled. It meant something, something important. Maybe something that would affect the whole school.

Her hands curled into fists. Ever since last year, Kestrel had felt protective of the place she now called home. For so long, she'd been an outcast, for so long she'd been alone. But then she came here, and yes, maybe she'd still been an outcast last year, but she was around people that understood. They all had stories, all had been through pain. If you came here you came as a package deal.

She looked over at the others who she was walking with. They all looked nice enough, but she wondered what their stories were. People here hid things so well, she couldn't even begin to imagine the things they might have been through. With a sigh, she looked forwards again in silence. She observed her surroundings, smelling the familar scent of the place, and welcoming it's warm embrace.
Kestrel smiled a little, as thoughts of home filled her mind. They were that strong, she couldn't control sending them out to anyone who was near. Unlike other students, she hadn't gained complete control of her powers yet, and even though she had her white rose strapped to her wrist, it only helped a certain amount.

She glanced at Zane and Raphiel, searching for a trace of something in their features. "I hope you don't mind me asking?" She spoke quietly. Her voice had always been almost inaudible and soft, but she knew people here could hear her just fine. "But just now, did any one of you get a picture of... home in your minds?"

"You should properly introduce yourself, but since you got the courage to ask, I'll tell you."Said the girl, still holding her emotionless face."Sorry, im just not use to talking to anybody about weird matters like this.My names Rosenthal., and im different from most humans"Rosenthal grimaced as he said the word humans. He was trying to put on a show for everyone around him so he would be considered as the norm, but humans just unsettled him and gave him bad memories when he thought about them too much.He should have said the word people he realised after a few seconds.Rosenthal waited patiently for the girl to examine him.It was quite clear to him when she started. At first it felt like she was just prodding him with her finger, but then it grew more intense. His very soul was touched. It was as if she was within him.He didn't like this.A shiver went down Rosenthals spine and what she was doing just didn't feel right to him.He presumed it wasn't like this most of the time when she checked peoples souls, so he also presumed that something must have been wrong with her, or that he was just so different from the average beings soul.He presumed the latter, as it made more sense to him being a superior raceRosenthal thought.

"Everything has souls. Yours particularly because of what you are, is unique. Not the same. Alive, but not. Showing life, but not."Rosenthal knew exactly what Sapphire meant. He knew her name from seeing her around before and now partly of what she could do with her powers. He also had quite a jist of her personality he thought."Be careful not to hint to much of my kind."Rosenthal whispered."Not everyone around here is as dimwitted as the average human. They will not have everything worked out now but a hint adds to another hint and then as they say it will be the last straw that broke the donkeys back. But this is the first "straw", or may be for some people."Rosenthal whispered again leaning near Sapphires ear.He knew she would understand his metaphor.

Luna's expression changed.Several people rushed to her aid but not Rosenthal. No, he stood there smirking to himself on the inside, but on the outside he pretended to be worried. When she awoke from her daze she said something about going off and not eating.Everyone went their ways to dinner except for Rosenthal and Sapphire."Il be late to breakfast, see you there."Rosenthal had managed to say before everybody left.Vampires don't even need to eatRosenthal chuckled to himself.Kestrel had left her suitcase beside them.No one was within earshot.

Rosenthal looked Sapphire in the eyes with a serious expression"You and I are are both very different.I see it in your emotions and I think you see it in my soul.I smile and frown on the outside fakely, but on the inside I am actually thinking something completly different. You on the otherhand show no emotion on the outside, but I sense that on the inside you have emotions, you just don't express them. Also I feel that you can converse with one another calmy about sociable things, whereas I can only talk calmly about things that interest me, knowledge, power.I think this is also vice-versa for both of us.But on the other hand when you touched my soul you didn't like it and neither I."

"Maybe I am wrong.Maybe I am not.I will see you later at breakfast I suppose, il be there later as I wish to relax for a few minutes.Take from my words what you wish.I bid you farewell."Rosenthal walked off with Kestrels suitcase, he was going to return it to her if he saw her at breakfast.Perhaps he had talked to much about his observings and himself to Sapphire.Rosenthal wondered if Sapphire wanted to join him for breakfast, he thought that she did not so he wanted be the first one to say farewell.Part of him wanted to join her and discuss some serious things on their own.As that was what Rosenthal liked talking about.Serious things. But the other part of him said that she did not want to join him and so that would mean she would have had some power over him, at least in Rosenthals mind.Rosenthal went to his own room and pondered about Luna for a few minutes. All I know is her power has something to do with time.I can thank the whispers around the dorms for that.I wonder, if she dies could she turn back time to the point where she wasn't dead?Nah that would be like playing with God...if there is a God.Rosenthal smirked. His hands were behind his head, he was relaxed.Rosenthal stayed there for another 5minutes and then made his way to breakfast with Kestrel's suitcase. He had thought about opening it to find some clues about Kestrel's power, but he wasn't bothered. He would find out sooner or later and he hadn't hear any rumours about her that really sparked his interest. He hoped everyone would meet at the same table for breakfast. There he wanted them to play his "game"

Zane looked up at Kestrel for a moment and thought about it for a momet. "Now that you mention it...yeah...I do" He said and glanced over at Raphiel. "What about you? Did you feel or see anything?" HE asked tilting his head to the side, knowing the answer that he would hear. But of course Rafe always surprised him one way or another. Rafe just mearly shook his head and looked towards the back door. "I hope Luna's okay...she looked really freaked out. Do you think her vision had anything to do with that Rosenthal guy? SHe looked pretty spooked afterwords and she looked right at him after she had her vision" Rafe said, concern coating his voice which was unusual. "She'll be fine Rafe, she always is." Zane said and looked back at Kestrel. "I'll be right back I'll get us a couple of trays of food" He said and got up from the bench and over to the long breakfast buffett line people were in.

Meanwhile Luna walked from the entryway of the courtyard and started to head back towards the school and towards the cafateria. She was starting to get hungrier now that she thought about it. She actually hadn't eaten for a couple of days so it was starting to sink in. She normally didn't eat breakfast but she would need it for later in the day. So when she walked through the doors to the cafateria she noticed that Rosenthal was also walking towards the cafateria, carying Kestrels suitcase in hand behind her. But he was usuing another entrance so she didn't bother looking at him twice as she walked inside. She saw Zane at the buffet, piling food onto a tray and Rafe and Kestrel were already sitting at a table. SHe started to walk towards them but stopped when she saw Proffesor Nathan sitting in a darkish corner in the cafateria. He always looked sort of sad and angry about something, at least thats how she saw it.

Curiosity got the best of her though of course and she very slowly started to walk over towards his table. There was always a dark sort of Aura about Professor Nathan, but she didn't mind quit so much. Her life had been serounded by darkness a lot of the time, at least thats how it was before she came to the school. Now she felt welcomed and she had friends who cared about her. But it seemed that wasn't the case for everyone at the school. She very shyly and catiously stopped at the edge the table where the Professor was sitting and in a very quiet voice asked. "Ummm...excuse me Professor...are...you alright?"

Nathan had long since finished his breakfast, but the noise of the cafeteria helped him to distract himself from the shadow within him. He had just been watching students and some faculty wander around, most of which leaving as it grew closer and closer to the beginning of class. He knew that he still had plenty of time, however. So consumed by his wild thoughts, he hadn't seen Luna approach.

"Ummm...excuse me Professor...are...you alright?" she had asked quietly, sounding somewhat nervous.

Looking up at her, she looked as if something had just recently frightened her. Maybe it was the fact that she was scared of talking to him, even though she had enough courage to even come talk to him in the first place. But she had been in his classes before, and never had had a problem talking to him then. Then again, this wasn't class.

"Luna, I don't think you're the one who should be asking who's alright. You look as if you've just seen a ghost. And in this academy, sometimes seeing ghosts is something to be worried about."

Nathan didn't smile, even though he wanted to. In his heart and mind, he wanted to be that professor that anyone could come talk to at any time. Someone the students wanted to spend time with on a social level, not like some other teachers who took their jobs far too seriously. But his physical appearance along with his conflicting mind made him seem like a secluded crazed person. It saddened him to think that his life was ruined because of his gift.

"No need to waste energy worrying about me, use that to enjoy yourself. I will be alright." Nathan said calmly. "But, if you wish, you can sit here if you like." he added, motioning to the seat across from him with his hand.

Vladimer pounded his desk. "Damn it" he cursed aloud as he threw the books across the room. "These books are useless" He said as he stood up and started to pace and think. How could one achieve the ability to transfer souls? He pondered on that small idea for a moment before his stomach gurgled from having no nourishment for the day. He had been studying his books all day that he had forgotten what time it was. He needed to go get something to eat before his next class. He needed to be to his next class, but without food he would not be able to concentrate so he went to the cafeteria. His next class was important because it was the only one with the computers that were connected to the school student files and he needed another peek at who was attending, as well what their powers were.

As Vladimer walked out his room he turned right to see one of the other students walk off with a suitcase that obviously wasn't his. Oh well he thought not like he knows who it belongs to. He continued to the cafeteria to get some food before his next class. On the way there he walked by many other and saw Luna off in the courtyard with a weird dark flow of energy emanating from her. He tried to shake the feeling of dread, however he couldn't manage to do that. He suddenly felt as if heading to the cafeteria was a really bad thing to do right now so he turned and went to his class. Once in there he turned on his usual computer and logged in the system admins files. He looked up a student with a unique name "Rosenthal" he whispered. At the top of the page it said "Vampire?". Vladimer already knew that they didn't take you into this school without knowing who you were and what you could do. He then looked up Luna although he already knew what she could do. She was considered a level 10 student with a power that if she used it would reverse anything and everything that had happened even ones memories that might have been gained over the last few seconds before she used them, you wouldn't even notice that she ha used them.

Vladimer stood up and was about ready to get out of the class room and just skip this class before it started to get back to his studying. When a few more students walked in and ruined his plan. He had been seen so guess he had to stay now. So having to stay in the room he started looking up more students like this girl Kestrel who had the ability to put thoughts into others heads with that power she was labeled as a level 9 student. It kind of scared him to think that there were others in the school who's powers were just as dangerous as his own. After browsing a little bit he came to an interesting name Sapphire. She had the power to see souls and talk to them. That was the key to his research, he needed to get to know this girl so that she might be able to help him. He then right before he just decided to take off looked up his profile to see that he was a level 8 student, and the only power that they had listed in there was the one that had been used to kill the robber along with his mother last year. He planed to keep it that way.

Vladimer stood up logged off his computer and walked out of the class room heading to the cafeteria. He really needed to grab something to munch on before he went back to his room. When he walked into the room he saw that there was all kinds of activity and everyone was as hyper as could be. He felt a bit cheery because he had just figured out what the next piece of his puzzle was. That girl will help him some how he just needed to figure out how to make her. Vladimer knew that he may have been only 12, but he would find some way to make it work. He then sat down and started to eat at a table in the back where there weren't many others.

Luna nodded and slowly sat down across from Professor Nathan and folded her arms across her chest and lightly rubbed her arms. She wasn't scared of sitting and talking with Professor Nathan. He was actually a person that she trusted and felt like she could talk to him. It seemed that something dark was happening inside of him from what Luna could see. She wasn't sure if he knew that others could see the pain in his eyes sometimes. She knew something was troubling him deep on the inside and wondered what exactly it could be. There were whispers around the school that there was a dark and evil shadow that was burried inside of Professor Nathans soul, others say he was possesed by some kind of Demon. But she didn't belive that. She belived he was a good person but didn't know how to show it. "Don't be silly, I want to know if there's something wrong. I know that I'm just your student but I do want to make sure that your' alright. If you ever need someone to talk to..well...I'm a really good listener" Luna said and gave Professor Nathan a small smile, hoping to make him feel better.

Luna peaked over to see that Zane had stopped what he was doing and was staring at her with wide eyes, and his face looked a bit pailer. She also noticed that Rafe had stopped talking to Kestrel and was staring at her with the same wide eyes and wierd expression on his face. He was slowly starting to stand up as if coming over to solve a problem. Luna shook her head at him for a second and gave them both a smile to reasure them that she was fine. Rafe sat back down slowly and Zane continued to put food on a tray. And thats when she also noticed the young boy from earlier...what was his name...ah, Vladamir came into the cafateria as well. It looked like everyone was starting to get hungry. She then quickly looked back at Professor Nathan, waiting to see what he would say.

(Sorry its a little short.)
